A nice restaurant with a magnificent 360 view. Self order available and the machine support English. Mulled Apple Juice: fresh and warm gives you the cinnamony spices Torta della Nonna (Omakuchen): With blueberries, almonds and carrots. It was not so sweet and perfect!

Small hotell with great location, beautiful views! Stayed for 1 night and the rooms are nice and clean. Had a balcony with beautiful views overlooking the mountain! Had dinner in the restaurant and the food was beautiful! The breakfast was great too! Fresh fruit, croissants, cold cut meats, cheese etc. The staff was friendly - however with one exception - the man in the hotel reception wasn’t very accommodating and didn’t put any effort in to make us feel welcome, although there was literally no other guests staying the night! He came across as rude and quite short in his tone - as if we were disturbing him…

I did not stay at the hotel, had food at the restaurant. You place the order via a touch screen, choose the table # and they bring it to you. The Apple Studel, the espresso and the Americano coffee were awesome! The best location to chill and get a bite to eat by Passo Giau!

The owner's middle-aged son, Igor, is the rude and unwelcoming Basil Fawlty of the Dolomites - read some of the reviews below! We assiduously avoided him after he greeted us with all the practiced indifference of Communist border guard, but he seems to have gone out of his way to spread his petty misery around other travellers. His parents, Claudia and Diego, have owned the hotel (it's not a rifugio) for nearly 40 years, and were perfectly hospitable. Everything else was fine. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, other staff were friendly, and both meal services were excellent. I've curated a Cut & Paste of the comments made by other reviewers: "Staff was nice except what the person who i think was the owner at the cash desk. Super rude and cold and unfriendly.” "The cashier / waiting staff are OK, but someone who appeared to be an owner/manager must be of the most uninterested and frosty person I've encountered." "italians are so kind but somehow staff here very unfriendly” "The owner was the most disgusting person we ever met in italy.” "Very poor service. Specifically one staff menber. " "The staff was friendly - however with one exception - the man in the hotel reception wasn’t very accommodating and didn’t put any effort in to make us feel welcome, although there was literally no other guests staying the night! Totally unfriendly, with a very short-sighted approach to running a business. As motor and car enthusiasts, we clearly were not welcome. Even though we only stopped for a drink, we were treated as if we were criminals. Sadly, with this attitude, it’s hard to imagine the place thriving in the long run.

I was really disappointed with Berghotel Passo Giau. It feels like a tourist trap, the prices are far too high for what you get (9 euros for two 0.3 juices), and the staff were quite rude and unwelcoming. The views from the location are stunning, but unfortunately the overall experience was negative. There are plenty of other places in the Dolomites where you can enjoy the scenery without the inflated prices or poor treatment.

Bar review 🍽️ Honestly, feels like a tourist trap. They know that many people pass by and they don’t care neither about the service nor about the food, which is quite expensive, for example skiwasser 5,90€ and not that good (even in nuvolau it is 4€). Chocolate cake was disgusting. Everywhere signs that dogs can’t not enter, they even wrote a card to not talk to waiters at the bar! All this gives you vibe that you are unwanted here. I would recommend to walk a bit more and stop somewhere else.

The cashier / waiting staff are OK, but someone who appeared to be an owner/manager must be of the most uninterested and frosty person I've encountered. The latte machiatto we've ordered was basically warm milk, it was difficult to find the espresso shot in it. It's a shame as the location is great.
