"The man behind this simple but popular café, which is located close to Tjörnin Lake, is Þórir Bergsson—an experienced chef with a commitment to local and seasonal cuisine. His focus is on food that's both hearty and healthy—what he calls honest food—spanning chia porridge, oatmeal muesli, and smoothiesat breakfast, and then homemade breads and cakes as well as hearty soups, oven-baked tandooris, Vietnamese pancakes, and lasagnas for lunch and dinner. Daily lunch and brunch deals and occasional two-for-one offers keep the colorful interior busy. There are always vegan and vegetarian dishes available, and the coffee and service are both great too. (Asecond location, Bergsson RE, down at the harbor, serves fish and seafood dishes.)"
Listen, the bacon alone makes this place 5 star...
Short of the bacon, which may or may not have been life changing, this place is an easy 4.5+. It is Iceland, so for a traveler the price is higher than comparable places elsewhere, however for the price the brunch and grilled sourdough we're priced very fairly, if not below market.
The food was delicious and the coffee was as good as the 4 coffee houses within walking distance but slightly cheaper, though fewer options which probably helps with the cost/quality.
The staff was helpful, spoke several languages, offered suggestions, and provided food and drinks in a very speedy manner for as crowded it is on this rainy day.

Quiet little place, came for breakfast. Bergsson Breakfast 2290. Yogurt with muesli and berry jam, very delicious. Perfect soft boiled egg. Help yourself to hummus, jam and peanut butter. Lovely plate of food. Really friendly.

This place saved us after a overnight flight into Reykjavík. One of the the only restaurants open early. The bonus—their food is great!
You place your order at the counter, and sit where you like. There’s a coffee station, so once you’ve ordered you can go back for refills.
The salmon is AMAZING! And there’s something for every budget. Staff is friendly and attentive. Thinking it’s a locals joint, as clientele seems to know each other.

We had a nice but very pricey breakfast here. Love the fresh sourdough bread and Chia pudding with berry compote. The decor is lovely!

Definitely a must go if I go back to Iceland. Cute little breakfast place with the best breakfast in Iceland. Plus it opens really early so if you arrive at 5am and need some breakfast, I would head over to Bergsson Mathus to eat and then walk over to Bonus supermarket afterwards to stock up on some Iceland snacks.

Food was alright but not amazing as some reviews stated. We ordered the Bread Plate and Grilled Sour doughbread with avocado and smoked salmon. Food was simple but fresh. This place does seem overpriced; we never had to pay so much for breakfast. Conveniently located, bit hard to find parking and crowded for breakfast when we were there.

Had an open faced sandwich for breakfast and a latte (this is not Starbucks people, legit coffee). The sandwich cake with a crunchy and flavorful slaw and tomato salad. So glad we stopped as our first breakfast in Iceland. Can’t wait to return one day.
