There is nothing not to like, so this will.just be a review full of praise. Set above Pittwater Bay with beautiful views Bert's presents as an open airy place with different areas to dine and/or drink. We had a lunch booking ar midday on a Saturday at which point the restaurant was not very busy. That changed withing two hours when the place was hieving. The service is excellent fro m the moment we arrived. The staff is knowledgeable, considerate and friendly. The food is excellent. When asked what my favorite dish was, I could not pick one. I loved the Anchovies with the fried bread as much as I loved the steak tartar and the duck pate and Bert's summer salad with that heavenly hazelnut dressing. The trout and chicken were cooked to perfection, the Brussel sprouts the perfect side dish and who can bypass the Rum Bombier and the cherry souffle for dessert?? The drink menu is as impressive with great cocktails and wine selections. Lovely afternoon at Bert's, we'll done to the team and until next time.

Bert's is one of the most premium restaurant I have ever been too. The open kitchen with busy professional chefs was a nice touch. It gives a sense of quality reassurance, aroma freshness and transparency on its dishes. The recommendations which was served to us was amazing. Salad fresh, meats grilled perfectly - I cannot find anything to not like about our dishes. Bert's is no doubt on the expensive side. However, It's quality ingredients, knowledgeable and friendly staffs does make its premium prices justifiable for a special occassion.

This was a slightly harder 5/5 from me. We loved the food and the atmosphere, and the young guy that was serving us (grandparents were jewellers) was great! Good conversation and friendly service. The only thing I’d say is that it’s probably a little overpriced. You definitely pay for the view and location. For that same amount of money, you could probably get better in other parts of Sydney. That said, still a 5/5 because it really was good. I’d still recommend.

My husband & I drove 1.5 hrs for lunch today and I must say, it’s worth the drive here. The place was aesthetically pleasing. So pretty and chic. The staff were welcoming with smile & very polite. They gave us table by the window overlooking the water which we really appreciated. Food was good. We shared the Bucatini Vongole Pasta as entree. My husband really liked it. We had their special Steak Frites as mains and Snake Beans as side. Steaks were tender, fries were crispy and snake beans were crunchy. We also ordered Criollo Dark Chocolate Tart as dessert. It was divine. Glad we decided to came here.

Came here with my partner on Saturday to celebrate our anniversary. Staff were all very nice and considerate, and the food was delicious! We also received a very adorable and lovely card from the staff! Would definitely come back.

My husband and I went to Bert's for dinner last week to celebrate his birthday. I absolutely love the decor and atmosphere in the restaurant. Can’t fault it. However, the food certainly doesn’t live up to expectations. As we live just down the steeet, it is an easy stroll for us and we used to go at least once a month to enjoy a meal. Sadly, NEVER AGAIN. The menu has been the same for far too long and quite frankly it is boring. I think we have tried everything on the menu and all dishes are sadly disappointing. The fish was very dry, the lamb cutlet was overcooked and swimming in oil. For the prices they are charging the food should be soooooo much better. It was like we were ordering from a second rate coffee shop or milk bar. We recently went and had a 3 course meal that was delicious from Jonah’s and although the decor there is non existent, the food is impressive. I guess we will be going to Jonah’s from now on.

Overall rating: 4.75 stars, rounded up to 5. One of the best places in Sydney for a meal. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The only reason for not considering it a full 5-star is that it is quite far from the city but the prices are as high as what they would have been if this place was in the city. That being said, Bert’s is still definitely worth a visit even if it takes a while to trek up to Newport.

Yelp
My husband, brother and I came here for a Saturday lunch on the last day of my husband's trip to Sydney. I'd long since heard of Bert's and have been a fan of Merivale, so I was excited to finally try this restaurant. Bert's has parking on the street nearby but there's no train station and not much public transport around here, so driving is advisable. The restaurant has a really beautiful ambiance that would make for a nice girls' lunch or upscale meal. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to expectations though. For appetizers, we shared the oysters, smoked fish pate, sourdough and heirloom tomatoes. Nothing was terrible, but the food was bland and lacked any discernible flavor. For mains, I got the rock cod, while my husband had the ricotta agnolotti, and my brother had the bucatini. Their pastas were fine but nothing special. My rock cod was especially boring. It tasted like a plain white fish without condiments, even though it had them. I would not come back to eat here based on this experience, especially given the prices here.

Yelp
Can't give less than 1! Service was ordinary, food is ridiculously overpriced and mainly imported looking at the boxes next to the bins in the car park. Another Merivale joke that is overpriced and staff more than likely underpaid. Don't waste your hard earned
