Berunes HI Hostel

Me and my friends stayed here out of a whim and it was probably one of the best decisions we made in Iceland ! Not only was the location beautiful, but our room was spacious , clean and comfortable! With showers and bathrooms super clean and modern ! We also had the breakfast and it was amazing to try ! Definitely staying here again when I come back

We arrived at Braz Hostel next door to Berunes a couple of days ago. After half an hours walk we arrived at Berunes and discovered this small but friendly restaurant. I chose the Wolffish with a potato puree and some more additional tastemakers. My friend had the lamb with cauliflower puree and grilled vegetables. Amazingly great food and amazingly served. My desert was good too, some cakes with amazing ice cream amazingly decorated and presented. An amazing good choice.

Berunes is not only a charming place to visit for locals and visitors alike, but provides one of the best and most creative dining spaces in the fjords. Every plate was aesthetically gorgeous, the food thoughtfully balanced and exciting to eat. The bread was amazing, staff attentive, knowledgeable and polite- even when faced with difficult customers, they kept their composure and professionalism! Berunes hosts a passionate creative chef who took the time during service to greet diners and share his love for his craft. A real gem in east Iceland and an absolute treat for us.

We just stayed at Barunes' campsite. The facilities are perfection! Everything is clean and accessible. The staff is fantastic...helpful, kind and informative. The restaurant, cozy and warm. Just what is needed at the end of a chilly adventure fueled day!

A perfect campsite, if not too busy. The owner was very welcoming and has a lovely restaurant on the premises. The camping facilities were excellent for small numbers, very clean and well organised to be authentic. There was a tiny but very well equipped kitchen, which would only really accommodate 4 people, toilets and shower were separate and all were heated. Recycling facilities provided were clear and orderly. Price was reasonable and would happily have stayed longer. Hopefully it will stay this way if people respect the surroundings.

Absolutely loved this charming place and the wonderful family that hosted us. The food was amazing as well! By far our favorite in Iceland, would definitely come back!

East Fjord Mountains, valleys and coastline ... you wake up in an old Icelandic house, in an old Icelandic room, and look out your window. You don't know if you have to stand in the window for a long time or go outside and stay for the whole day. Amazing place. Like on the border of worlds. Unforgettable. Plus very friendly hosts.

Very special place, I would totally recommend it. We stayed in a tiny house, which was perfect with a small sitting area & kitchen, and a view over the fjord. Had an excellent dinner & breakfast at the restaurant, walked by the beach and went on a hike up to the peak that is behind the farm. Staff were all pleasant and helpful.
