We stayed here for two nights on a road trip around Norway. The views and vibe are unparalleled, it’s amazing being able to cross the street and sit at a fjord or take a walk in the hills after dinner. They were super helpful in helping me coordinate my Besseggen hike, which has a few logistical things like the boat and parking to sort out. On the food side - my partner and I have hi gf expectations for food, and I’m actually gluten free. Being out in what feels like the middle of nowhere (in a good way - you’re in a national park!) worried me in terms of likelihood of gluten free options. Bessheim made it soooo much easier and better than expected. At each meal they had the dinner and dessert chefs come out and speak with me about what was and wasn’t gluten free - which frankly most items other than obvious bread or pasta based items were gluten free, as they used a lot of gluten free flour and thickeners in sauces. They also constantly brought me gluten free bread and crackers for each meal. I’m also a huge fan of them letting you pack a lunch if you’re hiking, which was a game changer for me (in general but especially being gluten free).

Nice place, communal bathrooms and showers. Very nice staff. Food and drinks here will burn a hole in your wallet.

We stopped for a morning coffee. The staff was friendly. We sat outside on the terrace in a cosy lounge sofa and table.

As we entered Bessheim, were greeted by wooden pine walls, wildlife decor, restaurant on the right and reception just abit in to the right. We checked in by friendly Maria, showed our cabin which is located at the far end hill side.||Our cabin was big, large living hall, plenty of space with full kitchen. A large bathroom and a bedroom with a single bed and twin lower bunk bed for 4 paxs. As cabin is on hill side, it vantage point overlooks the lake. Really great locale, by the lake. Had I not only got here late evening and spending only one night (it's a stop over for my long drive), I might buy a fishing permit for 75 NOK to try my luck.||The view is fantastic at dusk and in the morning even more mystic with the fog hanging low. Love the views.

Great location. Restaurant serves variety of game like moose and deer and. Breakfast is decent; I loved the hot smoked white fish. Children are welcome; there are high chairs and kid friendly options. Rooms with toilet and shower are worth it if you travel with kids.

This is a very fine gem on the "Norske fjell". We came rather late to this location after another very scenic trip over the Norwegian tundra. The views are stunning, the staff was super & the breakfast fantastic. For 119NOK the breakfast is incredible w big variety where the delicious items are from locals & the love which it was prepared are such a wonderful treat. Everyone was allowed to make sandwich for the hiking trip later. The cabin was clean & quiet w a wonderful setting. My American wife bought the book in Norwegian. That's a statement that includes a lot of love for this stay.

We only stayed one night but it's super beautiful here. You can go on wonderful hikes in the proximity of this place. We also had dinner here in the evening and enjoyed it very much. It's hard to judge since we're tourists ourselves, but it seemed very authentic to the region. Our room in the hotel felt a little dated, but was clean and practical.

We stayed here for 3 nights in 1 hotel room (the cabins were booked full, so I can't comment on them). We choose 3 nights because that allowed us to choose between 2 days to hike Besseggen Ridge. We are glad we did because we arrived and our 1st day was rainy and foggy. The 2nd day was perfect with morning clouds and then sunny. Anyway - back to the lodge. We enjoyed the basic hotel room that had large bathroom and my wife says the shower was fabulous with excellent water pressure. The beds were 2 twins pushed together, but comfortable. The included breakfast started at 06:30 but we grabbed some items before we left for the hike at 6:05/10. We didn't eat at the restaurant as it was expensive. We had a cooler (which the front desk refrigerated for us). The wifi is only available near reception and didn't reach our room, but we chose not to get a data plan during our Norway holiday. But the only reason to choose this lodge would be the location - right around the corner to the Besseggen trail head. If you don't want to camp before of after Besseggen, this lodge is simple, yet perfect.
