The food was OK had the Chicken & Baby back rib combo chicken was little dry even tho they smothered it in BBQ sauce the ribs were fall off the bone ribs but yet again Taste like it was just dunked in BBQ sauce. Took a bit for our server to refill my ice tea. For the price you pay for this type of food and service it should had been a lot better in my opinion.

Google
They have a cute little mini golf area outback My daughter and grandkids had fun... I've never eaten here so I can't really say for sure if I like the food but a lot of people looked like they were enjoying it so I'm going to give it three stars

Rebecca Wallis

Google
Some of the best steak we have had in a long time. The sweet potato was great.

Breshin Billingsley

Google
Great portions, reasonable prices, service was good, food was tasty and properly cooked. Could use updated, please throw away and replace all your black linen napkins.

Odonata

Google
The food is overpriced. The side salad was just lettuce and some croutons. We ordered our steaks medium rare and they both came out medium well to well done. I think they just microwave the potatoes because the skin was so tough that I could barely cut it with the steak knife. At $40 a plate, I expect a little bit better, you know?

Came to Portland for a quick getaway and was not sure what to eat tonight. I went from Seafood to Mexican to steaks. This place got good reviews so I thought I would give it a try. Pulled into the parking lot and it was full. Disappointed I left pulled around the corner to google other restaurants. But I really had my heart set on the Best Little Roadhouse. So I circled around the block again, turned back into the parking lot and was fortunate enough to get a parking space! Trust me, this place did not disappoint! Great service. reasonably priced and food…truly was a win win!

Google
We have made many visits for date night and always enjoy ourselves. We normally order prime rib rare with potatoes of some sort and a salad. The service is always good for us regardless of where we sit. We enjoy the mini golf when we go as a family. We also recognize that there may be a wait because it's so popular.

Google
The rolls at the beginning are to die for! Buy extra to bring home! I had the sirloin burger cooked medium rare and it was cooked perfectly! We had adult beverages that were very tasty. I had some sort of strawberry lemonade-tini. Yum! Sitting by the golf entrance can be busy but it's fine if you enjoy people watching. Server was attentive and friendly.

Yelp
I came in here with my husband and his parents on Saturday evening. The in-laws originally suggested Outback, which is gross, so this was next on the list. We walked in and there was quite the line, but we were able to be seated in the bar quickly. I didn't catch our waiter's name unfortunately, but he was amazing. He checked on us at all the right intervals, everything was correct. Everything being correct was a feat in itself for how loud it was in here too. I was impressed. Drinks and food were both amazing. I ordered a black raspberry margarita and the prime rib with a salad. I can't remember exactly what everyone else ordered, but there were no complaints. My father in-law's ribs were falling off the bone, and my husband's clam chowder had a distinct thyme flavor in it. Would I return? Yes! Definitely yes. My husband and I had a crazy horrible week, and his parents wanted to take us out for a nice relaxing dinner to treat us, and this place was absolutely perfect for that. There wasn't a single complaint from any of us. Review 26 of 2025.

Yelp
Started with beer and a key lime martini. Highly recommend the martini. Yum. The harvest salad was so crispy and fresh if it came from a bag we couldn't tell. The raspberry vinaigrette was also a success. The other options were the prime rib chili. Great flavor, more of a sauce than broth consistency and hefty chunks of prime rib. Smoked Tri-tip with a generous side of mushrooms. (Not pictured). Meat was tasty about medium to medium rare. Watermelon barbecue sauce was a star. All the other meals (pictured) were correctly cooked and very tasty. All portions were generous and leftovers came home. I refer to the bread as pillows of goodness. They are hot light and puffy with a sweet yeast flavor and served with honey butter. Space is clean servers are friendly and attentive but not intrusive. I love this place.

Yelp
Service was fast n friendly BUT I got the prime rib sandwich and it was so wack. Overdone slab of meat on a bun. Could've been any cut of meat - didn't taste or look anything like prime rib.

Yelp
I've been here before with a friend and had a good experience, so I dropped by around 1115 am on a weekday for lunch between errands. This was a good time to go, just before the lunch rush really got going. I was seated right away in a booth in the bar area. Service was friendly and I was checked in on periodically but not intrusively. I was in the mood for a burger (when is that not the case with me?), and decided on the Circle M Bacon Burger, which comes with hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, and barbecue sauce. I picked fries as my side, and soon I received one of their yeast rolls with whipped honey butter. This was good, but I personally prefer plain butter but forgot to let them know. I enjoyed my roll, and shortly my burger arrived. It came with pickles, tomato slices, red onion and lettuce. I abstained from the pickles, tomatoes, and onions, as is my custom. The burger was large and delicious! The hickory bacon lent a wonderful smoky taste. The burger was well cooked with good grill flavor and the cheese went well with it. I also liked the BBQ sauce. The bun was soft but didn't fall apart. I added a few squirts of ketchup to the top bun, as it was a tiny bit dry since I removed most of the fixings. The fries were tasty as well and good accompaniments. All in all, a great lunch. I was in and out within an hour, and was full well into the evening. This is a comfortable, friendly place to eat alone and treat yourself to some tasty food.

Yelp
Every time I come here I'm disappointed with the food. It's always mediocre. I was really craving a good Caesar salad and the waitress assured me it was a really good one and the dressing was made in house. It was not a good salad at all. Very disappointing and dry. The waitress was super friendly but we were seated outside and forgotten about when we decided to get up to pay for the bill at the front.

Yelp
We came her to celebrate my birthday tonight. We arrived around 5pm. We were seated immediately on the patio. Although it was a warm day, the patio was shaded and had fans on. Along with the waterfall view, the atmosphere was quite pleasant. They had a Tennessee tea on special so that is what we ordered, it was delicious, went down quite easily especially on a hot day. We ordered the potato skins and Tennessee wraps, both were delicious. The Tennessee wraps were amazing! My daughter had the BLT, she was happy with it. My son and I got the chicken sandwich, chucked was grilled wonderfully and the flavors were great. My husband got the tri tip with coconut shrimp. It came with a salad and it was really good paired with a house made honey mustard that was outstanding. The tri tip was cooked perfectly, good portions, good bbq sauce on the side. The coconut shrimp was really good paired with a sauce everything we ate was delicious, and brought exactly as we ordered. Our waitress was phenomenal. And then we golfed with our full bellies we added lots of laughs to our night. I'm so glad we tried somewhere new for my birthday.

Yelp
I love this restaurant/bar! The food and service is very good and clean. The servers truly love their establishment and jobs! I will be back!!

Yelp
Got sat on the indoor patio tonight, was fun had the fireplace going. Food was cooked perfect and Carlos gave us great service. Not our first time, food and service always great

Makayla D.

Yelp
So delicious! Server was so kind and on top of bringing refills on drinks and rolls. Great way to celebrate my dad's birthday!

Yelp
Amazing food, fantastic service, and atmosphere. The masher bites did not disappoint. Open till 10 great option for late dinner after a long drive.

Yelp
Been here many times, and we've always had a good experience. Food is good and consistency each time we've ordered. Their bread and honey butter is addicting! We've sat in the patio, bar and main part of the resturant- all good spots. My only complaint is parking. It sometimes can be hard to find, especially around lunch/dinner. We try to come a little earlier to beat the rush.

Yelp
So we came here because a couple of my kids ranted and raved over it. I'm only giving 4 stars based on the fact it's a casual roadhouse and bar- not a nice dress up for dinner restaurant. That is not a criticism at all- just an explanation. We came in- very busy so they seated us at a small table in the bar. Our server Daniel was very nice and hard working. They brought out their house made rolls which are amazing. I usually don't like honey butter- but theirs is really good. We also ordered the Tennessee Wraps- which are cream cheese and jalapeño egg rolls with a sweet chili sauce. Omg- amazing. At this point we regretted ordering anything else as we were full. My wife ordered the petite filet, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. She said the filet was a perfect medium rare with a great sear on it. The garlic mashed potatoes were addicting. The pulled pork sandwich was great too. I was only going to eat half but... Anyway - great gem in Salem for a casual night out. Excellent food great service. Loved it!

Yelp
A great place for a meal with friends. Our server was attentive and friendly. We were seated in the well heated enclosed covered patio on a cold winter evening. It was a very comfortable space. Traffic noise is my only knock for the patio. The food was very good. Husband had the smoked tri-tip and raved about the spicy watermelon barbecue sauce. My petit filet mignon was so tender and I enjoyed the red wine demi-glace with it. I was served one of the freshest green salads I have had at a restaurant. There was not a single discolored edge on any of the greens. The yeast rolls with honey butter were a wonderful bonus. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Consistency is quality and service. Always feel welcomed here and enjoy the staff and service we receive. The food is always prepared with care and delivered hot and fresh. Always an enjoyable dinning experience.

Stacy B.

Yelp
A classic restaurant where you can enjoy a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting with hospitable service! The turkey club was to die for! A thick mound of roasted turkey, crispy bacon, pickle slice and other toppings all in perfect compliment to each other. Such a fun way to celebrate a friend's birthday! Can't wait to return!

Yelp
We went on a Saturday night thought we would be waiting for a long time. Less than 10 min we were seated. Our waiter came over get our drink order, then came back to get of dinner order. We hadn't got our drinks yet or even had time to look at the menu felt rushed. Dinner was really good like always

Sue W.

Yelp
Ate dinner here with friends on a busy Sunday night. Service was good, even though our server was super busy. Our dinners all included a good amount of food (nice salad, fresh rolls, yummy loaded baked potato and main item). Unfortunately our main items weren't very good. 3:4 of us would not reorder what we ate. I was really looking forward to my prime rib, but unfortunately it was tough. If I eat here again, I think I'll try the ribs.

Yelp
Okay restaurant with okay steaks. Similar to Sizzlers. Cheap family restaurant. Salem is not a food town.
google avatar

Cliff H.

Yelp
Super good. Fast food service. Steak was legit good. Drinks were fine. Clean and yummy

Chris F.

Yelp
Food was just ok. High priced with poor service. The filet was overpriced , tough with little flavor. Won't be back.

Cindy B.

Yelp
Consistently good ribs and salmon. Love their rolls. I can always count on a good meal here. Good and fast service, nice family restaurant.
google avatar

Brittney W.

Yelp
Over the past year, the service at this restaurant has gone downhill tremendously, the food quality is poor. The portions are even more ridiculous. The service is slow and not as friendly as it used to be either time to find a new restaurant to frequent.
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service over-the-top. It was past closing time by the time we left, but never once did we feel rushed to leave. Our waiter was attentive and funny, informative and courteous. The atmosphere was a cozy classy in my opinion; classy enough for a date night but cozy enough for a family night out too.

Yelp
This was our first visit the B.L. Roadhouse in about 12 years, and it was a little disappointing compared to the last visit. I got smoked tri-tip, seasoned veggies, tortilla soup. The soup was okay, nothing special, and the same could be said for the veggies. The tri-tip came out luke-warm, and it was cooked more done than the advertised medium rare, which made it a little tough. The watermelon BBQ sauce was tasty, but couldn't save the entree. The dinner rolls were very tasty, like I remembered -- nice and sweet. Dessert was also quite good -- which was as a nice surprise. My chocolate cake was moist and delicious. This was definitely a case of a dining establishment going downhill, and I'm not sure it's the best roadhouse in Salem anymore.

Yelp
The price doesn't match the food. Although the atmosphere of the shop is not bad. It is very disappointing.

Anthony N.

Yelp
Placed on waiting list, finally went to see when we are going to be seated, and they said they messaged but I told them I didn't get any texts. Anyways they said I got to be placed back on the waiting list, screw them, never eating at that restaurant again

Yelp
Came here two nights in a row. Host doesn't smile at all. Not very good with customer service even when you smile at her she seems always mad. First night I got the momo burger it was good. We had the nicest waitstaff I don't remember her name but she was so friendly and on top everything never annoyed when we ordered more free bread she filled our water and even offered free rolls when we didn't even want them. We came back the second night, same non smiling host looking mad got a different waitstaff she was alright, she seemed just like whatever taking our order and annoyed to help us but maybe she had a long night of dip shits who knows. I ordered the Creole Burger it was yummy I rate that a good 7. Good food for the cheap prices. Customer service is ass besides the need young waitress. Host girl makes you not want come back because she's non friendly. But prices are cheap and good for the food.

Gayle P.

Yelp
I'm writing to give a review on one of your waiters. We were at The Roadhouse last Saturday and your waiter Garrett made our dining experience so good. He actually likes his job and it shows. He was speedy, accurate with our order, attentive, and offered pleasant conversatio, so refreshing! Gayle P.

Yelp
From the first phone call to find out about this place to the final goodbyes with our server, Shelly, this was an amazing experience. The person we spoke to on the phone advised us to get there early because they do not take reservations and they place fills up fast from about 5pm on. Boy! He wasn't kidding! Our server, Shelly was so accommodating and so patient with us. There were 4 adults and our granddaughter. She knew not to put hot food right in front of her and she made sure her food came out first! That's wonderful!! Everyone there treated us like royalty. The food was delicious. I've ordered onion straws in other restaurants before and they were ok. The cook usually gets lazy and doesn't slice the onion all the way and you get a huge clump of onion in your order. Not here. Every bit was individually breaded and fried to perfection. The loaded nachos were enough to make it a whole meal by itself. I've truly never had better clam chowder. Not a hint of that 'fishy' taste you usually get. My filet mignon was like butter. My son had the ribs that were falling off the bone. The rolls were to die for. There was not one thing that wasn't great about this place. Oh-and the prices are very reasonable. We will be hosting out of town guests in June and will definitely be bringing them here. And, the Best Little Roadhouse is going to be part of our regular rotation.

Chito C.

Yelp
Our favorite place to eat before COVID,service always good, food ok except the bake potato looks and tasted like it was made the day before and heat up in the microwave, overall everything was good

Simon H.

Yelp
Came here for dinner one night while visiting family. Got the grilled chicken taco style salad and it was good.
google avatar

Hunter O.

Yelp
Came here with another couple for date night while out riding scooters! It was our first time here and the place totally hit the mark!! The food was outstanding and the service was good. The mini golf to follow dinner was pretty awesome as well. But feel maybe you should get 50% off the gold with dinner purchase.. lol.. can't wait to try this place again.
google avatar

Carolina T.

Yelp
Blah, nothing interesting about this place. Service was good, the ambiance was sterile, and the food kind of bland. If you are looking for safe, this is a decent spot!
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
I very much enjoyed Saturday brunch at the Best Little Roadhouse in Salem. The large menu means everyone finds a meal they are going to like, which makes me happy. The inside seating is well spaced, and outside seating is very comfortable - in good weather. Service was friendly, fast, accurate and present. TIP: We always go at off-meal-times, to avoid the crowds at this popular, family-friendly, restaurant. Fully Four Stars.

Tina H.

Yelp
Service was fine, they were training and handled things fine, but the food, my grandbaby, who loves, and I mean loves french fries, takes one bite and spits it out, it's not good. My husband ordered the special pork chops with coconut shrimp, and the chops were so dry and the shrimp.....it's too bad. Nothing was the server's fault, but we won't be returning to food cooked that way.
google avatar

Jon N.

Yelp
Food was good and service was fast! Love that they have Diet Dr. Pepper! Would recommend.
google avatar

LilyAnne C.

Yelp
The vegetables were raw and they were peppered to much it was spicy. The hickory sauce for the ribs was spicy too. I do not like spicy. I am probably not going back in a while.
google avatar

Lawrence H.

Yelp
First, parking was unavailable so we parked a few blocks away. Next, we waited for sometime. Not too bad, but we thought we would get a table inside- instead they seated us outside. Although we didn't request it, we didn't complain and the kids seemed to enjoy it. Service was slow and it was busy so no fault to our server. Customer service was great in regards to the person who took care of us. They food was okay. We tried 2 specials they had with Prime Rib and Coconut shrimp. Prime rib wasn't so great and the shrimp wasn't the best we've tried. The tri-tip and ribs special was good. The salad and bread may have been the highlights. Next time, we will not order the specials and try some other dishes.
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
I went to their website to look at their menu, no luck there. Every selection that I make just has a warning about eating raw meat.. no menu items anywhere. I tried looking at the lunch menu first, then the dinner menu, still nothing but a warning about eating raw meat. Not taking my friend here for a birthday meal.

Jillaine A.

Yelp
Food was good and not unreasonably priced. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable and quick. Very pleasant surroundings. We were able to sit by the fireplace. It was a rainy, chilly day.
google avatar

Todd P.

Yelp
This place is great, food is good and customer service is top notch. But don't put a sign out front that says seating available just to stand at the entry for 15 mins because there is no seating!
google avatar

Alan B.

Yelp
Came across this place on Yelp of course...Crowded and raining, so the staff tried to accommodate the customers by getting us out of the elements & seated fast... As for the waiting staff, very friendly & helpful...The offerings are plentiful and we found our meals to be delicious too.. A 4 out of 5 stars...

Hailey J.

Yelp
I go here almost EVERY year for my birthday and they do not disapoint, with their rolls and mini golf so good. And its such a cute little homey place to go. SLAY!~~~~~~~

mark a.

Yelp
So we went here last night for prime rib. The outside had a lot of flavor but you could not chew it because it was all gristle. The steaks were also stringy while eating. We also got an order of fried onion strings. The creole sauce that came with them was horrible. It tasted only of salt and olives. The rolls are always amazing. Everything else was just ok.
google avatar

Sabina S.

Yelp
There's nothing too remarkable about the food here, but the mini golf course attached to the restaurant was really fun! I came here with my family for dinner and we put our name down for a table as soon as we got there since they don't take reservations. The wait was about 30 min so we decided to go to the back of the restaurant and play the mini golf course. I was most impressed by the fact that they could fit 18 holes in a compact space. Although each hole looked pretty similar, they did a great job of adding obstacles or hills to make each hole feel different from the other. No need for crazy trap doors or swinging obstacles like you find at other mini golf places to have a good time here! The food on the other hand was pretty average. Honestly we probably wouldn't have eaten here if it weren't for the novelty of the mini golf course. We got a few appetizers and mains to share. The Buffalo wings with the right amount of spiciness and coconut shrimp with the right amount of crispiness were pretty good. The other items not so much: the chicken tortilla soup (which was the soup of the day) lacked flavor and was watery; the buns for the pulled pork sandwich were soggy and fell apart as we ate it; the smoked tri-tip and baby back ribs were dry. Overall, come here for the mini golf but no need to stay for the food!

Yelp
Went in tonight on a Thursday (1.26.23) with a 8.5 person party. Yes the .5 is a child. Went for my aunts bday. Autumn was our server. She did great. It seems like she was a lil overwhelmed with our table and the 12 top next to us. She still killed it. Drinks took a little to long. Not autumn's fault, probably the bartender or runners. Food was great for the price. Plating could have been better. Good experience though. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
So, starting with the facility/ambiance...dark, smaller, decor looks like a sizzler from the 80's. We were a group of ten crammed around a smallish table directly in front of the open door kitchen. Noisy and busy with traffic and staff at a table next to us filling butter cups. The food ... ordered a smoked tri-tip sandwich, it was lukewarm at best and tough. Texas wraps were warm and soggy. Most of the people at our table stated that their food was not hot. The waitress was just okay. Not a lot of follow-up service. The bill was split up a couple of different ways at our table due to the larger group, and there were several mistakes, people being charged for other people's food. After the bills were straightened out and we had to pay she had a handheld payment machine for our cards and she stood right on top of us while we picked out the tip, which was awkward. Probably won't be going back, which kind of sucks because the reviews on the other Roadhouse in Salem aren't very good either.

Casey H.

Yelp
The three stars are not for food quality!!! They represent the customer service. It was a rough night for food, cold steak, rare prime, and over cooked ribs. Must say it was unusually busy, having dined here many times. Avoidable problems but our waitress and Cory the manager handled it all in stride with professional pride. Thank you, we will return.

Rusti W.

Yelp
I ordered a rib eye with a baked potato. The steak was over cooked, the baked potato was more than a day or two old. The skin was hard and dry. The absolute worst steak I have ever eaten out.
