Awwwww! :)
Hubby and I were watching a bunch of TV shows over the span of a week, all dealing with finding old things. Now, while the value of antiques can be pretty cool, we like it more for the look. Love that steampunk style!
Anyways, hubby had to go up to the Burbank area to deal with some work, and, as it was the weekend, I tagged along with him. Once he finished his job task, we were on our way to this old town-ish Burbank (it's near Portos!). He had bookmarked this shop, and was very adamant coming here (I didn't check the reviews before I came in), so we parked behind a church (yes, it said we could park there on a Saturday for 2 hours), and walked on over.
The store is, of course, chock full of different items ranging from furniture to jewelry to little odds and ends. It's a good size store, and found a lot of porcelain and China pieces that I would have happily taken home, but I don't have any room for those. There were cigar boxes that hubby was interested in, and lots of vintage clothing available. There is some general organization going on, but, for the most part, you just have to search the store for whatever you're hoping to find. Everything's pretty clean. Maybe a layer of dust here and there, but, overall, it's not a gross shop. Very cool.
Now, one of the things that I LOVE about this place is how the owner is a proponent of pet love! You will see pictures of dogs posted towards the front of the store, asking people to either adopt, foster, or donate for the well being of these dogs. And, the pictures are informative, providing contact info, and where the pup is at.
My favorite part? I was greeted by one of the pups! Extremely well-behaved, the pup basically went around the store, checking who was around, accepting pats on the head, and just making sure that everything was in order. Then the pup went out to the little patio area, laid down, and took a nap. Squee! I love dogs!
So, yes, this will be a place that hubby and I will go to. My vote has mostly been swayed because of the pups, but, truly, it's hard to find good, clean antique shops. Prices weren't bad, and there are a lot of other shops in the area to check out.
