"Compact and cozy, this cheery one-bedroom sits close to downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and the beach. A small kitchenette and balcony make slow mornings easy—brew a fresh pot of coffee before heading out—and essentials like a TV and even some workout equipment are included; it’s a 1-bedroom, 1-bath stay that’s ideal for a couple exploring nearby restaurants and shops." - Elly Leavitt

Best Western Carmel's Town House Lodge

Google
Overall, it's very affordable and in an amazing and safe location. You can walk to all the shops and it's a 20 minute walk to the beach. Downside is that the rooms are very small, water pressure was poor, but worst of all the housekeeping took cash that we had out. Of course it was our fault for leaving our cash out, but it's certainly not safe there. We told the front desk and they didn't even believe us or do anything about it. Just be careful. It's very much just a regular motel. I wouldn't call this place a "hotel" or like any other best westerns.

I want to highlight how accommodating the management is. Our trip was scheduled 2 days after the news that flights may be cancelled due to the 2025 government shutdown. We were concerned we would not be able to cancel our hotel in time for the normal 48-hour cancellation period if something were to happen with our flight. However, management extended this period 2 additional days, plenty of time for us to cancel our reservation in case our flight was cancelled or delayed. Everything went fine with our flight in the end, but we greatly appreciated how understanding and flexible they were!

Google
The room had all that I needed, and was very clean. The closet is huge! The location was absolutely central. My only complaint was trash trucks early in the morning! The Managers are wonderful. Kind, helpful and a pleasure to know. Recommended!!

Our stay in Carmel at the Best Western Town House Lodge was delightful. It was conveniently located in town, so we could walk to most places in town. The host was very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean and looked like it had been renovated recently. Parking and breakfast were included which was very nice. We had a wonderful time and will try to stay there again if we go back to Carmel.

Google
If there’s zero star, I would do it. The staff have two faces, the one when you check in, another one when you check out. We took two young kids and returned from the beach. We quickly used the restroom to rinse off sand before checking out. We didn’t notice the room had already been cleaned before checkout. They knew we had gotten the bathroom wet, and we apologized. However, the staff were extremely arrogant, refused to communicate, spoke rudely, and even told us to get out in front of our kids. We came to this beautiful town during peak tourist season and ended up staying at this hotel because all the others were fully booked—now we understand why this was the only one with vacancies.

Google
My experience at this Best Western was very disappointing. The room was not clean — the floors were dirty, and the sheets did not feel like they had been properly washed. The night before my stay, I called to ask about late checkout and was told I could arrange it online, but I wasn’t able to find the option. When I asked at the front desk if I could check out at 12:00 instead of the regular time, I was told it wasn’t possible because the cleaning staff leaves at 3:00, even though that should have allowed plenty of time. Overall, the lack of cleanliness and poor customer service made for a very unpleasant stay.

Google
Room was nice and area was quiet. Parking was included. They had a little breakfast as well. We’d stay there again if back in Carmel. Easy walk to everything. No qualms!

LOVED OUR STAY HERE! I completely forgot about leaving my review after leaving but I really enjoyed my stay here. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, my aunt booked a stay for us here and they ended up upgrading us to a suite which was very very sweet! Wonderful service they were very nice and attentive would definitely stay here again :) and the complimentary breakfast was very yummy and convenient!

Yelp
So, we have stayed here on several occasions. You can park your car and walk to all Carmel has to offer. We stayed there last night and they have upgraded the rooms very well. We would highly recommend staying here!!!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised! Is it me or Best Western has had a bad rep in the last couple of decades? In all honestly it really does depend on each location. Carmel-by-the-Sea is a quaint town and big name hotel chains do not have a big footprint in the area. Small inns seem to be the conventional type of lodging here but there are some higher end hotels too. With that in mind, this Best Western was the best mid-level hotel that was perfect for us! Check in was at 4pm but I peeked in at 1pm to see if our rooms were available and the man at the counter was super friendly and reasonable, we were able to check in right then and there! For a family of 4, it was a little difficult to find a room big enough that can accommodate us, with free breakfast, pool, walkable to shops, and on site parking. We ended up getting 2 rooms but it was still cheaper than the other hotels! Absolutely loved the little sun deck above the hotel. Breakfast was pretty good with some protein options. My kids enjoyed the waffle station and added chocolate chips to the batter. My husband liked the cheese and sausage sandwich. For me, coffee always does the trick :). The rooms are upgraded and modern. It was not what I expected judging from the exterior. It was roomy and bright. Our bathroom came with a tub, the other room just had a shower. Amenities were basic but sufficient. My only negative feedback was that the blackout curtains could've been a little wider to block out more sunlight. Ours had mini holes so we had sunlight coming in early. Parking was really tight for bigger vehicles, they're compact but our kid size SUV fit. There was a full size pickup truck behind us and they fit. Mind you we had to do the Austin Powers 25 point turn maneuver out of our spot but we left with no dents lol. Sometimes you can hear people slam their doors. Luckily I always travel with a small sound machine so that wasn't really a big deal after we fell asleep. The beach is walkable, but I must warn you that the walk uphill back to the hotel was not the most enjoyable lol. We took lots of breaks and it gave us another opportunity to peruse the shops that we otherwise would have just breezed through. Next time we'll drive the kids down. It's nice that there's parking on site, street parking outside the hotel was only 2 hours. Catty-corner from the hotel is a Shell gas station. It was so convenient especially since they sell snacks and beverages for those times the kids had the munchies. For the convenience, value, and location, 4.5 stars!

Yelp
The breakfast is ok at best. Coffee tasted like weak tea, only hot items are scrambled eggs & toast. Not worth the price point. Also, I always bring slippers because I know hotel room floors are never really clean...welp this time I forgotto pack a pair & woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and had a lot of dirt on my feet...floors were never cleaned. The people on second floor came in so loud you'd think there were a pack of horses...walls are def thin.

Yelp
Had a very nice stay at Best Western Town House Lodge in Carmel. The location is great - a few blocks from Ocean. They had plenty of parking. We ended up checking in early before noon because we got into town early and it was zero hassle to do so! The manager put us in one of the rooms in the "annex" which are near the pool. The room was very nice and recently updated with new shower and furnishings. He was very good at letting us know about the amenities. The free breakfast is pretty great - they have a couple of hot items (eggs and protein), cereal, bread, and also a machine to make your own waffles. You can also heat up a breakfast sandwich and have coffee and juice. A good start to your day. The only weird thing was the thermostat in the room - he let us know to not leave it turned up too high but even turning it to 60, the room felt very hot. It was nice that a fan was included. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
The best part about this hotel was the guy who worked the front desk! Absolutely stellar dude who made us feel comfortable and welcomed. This inn is your very low ranking no frills kind of place. You get here, you sleep, you go. The perks? It's really close to downtown so it's an easy walk to get where you want to go. Cleanliness could use a lot of work. The bedding had some stains on it, the restroom felt dirty with someone's leftover pieces of hair. Water pressure is probably the lowest I've ever experienced anywhere! Floors creaked in some parts of where you walked and there are some bugs/flies in the rooms. I kept telling myself that I'm only sleeping here and will spend most of my day outside. It was the more affordable option so you get what you paid for, especially with it's location being so close. Continental breakfast is very limited with some juices, eggs, waffles, cereal, and oatmeal. The workers are friendly, but the place itself was just not worth it.

Yelp
The BW in Carmel is in a great location to access the downtown area without needing a car. The hotel staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. The down side was the lack of air-conditioning. The weather was warm in August so it helped to open the windows to let in cool air and a tower fan was provided. The challenge was with noise. There is a Pack Mail store next to the hotel on 5th Avenue so UPS, FedEx and other trucks parked right outside the window of my room with motors running and back up beeps sounding frequently. In addition, there is a wonderful restaurant (Chez Noir) also next to the hotel. At night, there was a good deal of clanging as wine bottles were being gathered and thrown out. So, getting to sleep with the window open and that noise was a challenge even with ear plugs. So, while the hotel is in a great location, if the weather is such that you need to open the window for air circulation, be aware that it will be quite noisy at times. Otherwise, the hotel is in a great place to access local shops and restaurants on foot.

Yelp
Would not comeback. It was overall okay, but definitely not worth the 600$/night. Pillows and bed were not comfortable and the room had no AC or ventilation.

Nerissa C.

Yelp
This place had a great location near downtown Carmel at an affordable price. That being said, it's nothing fancy. The room seemed cleaned but there was some lint on the bed from the previous traveler. Was it a big deal? Not really but I can see where some people might have a problem with that. The gentleman who checked us in was VERY nice and friendly. He was efficient about getting us our room and explaining their policies. He also had great recommendations for places to eat. We had a room with 2 queen beds; it seemed a little cramp but we made it work. There isn't any closet nor any AC but they did provide an oscillating fan. The bathroom was spacious and seemed to have been upgraded. We loved that there was no additional fee for parking and we enjoyed their free breakfast.

Yelp
Price , location and cleanliness , staff were very accommodating, love the views from 2nd floor .

Yelp
Location was great! Walking distance to everything. Front desk person was very nice and checked us in early. The room was very clean and updated. I will say somewhat small room and the bathroom is one at a time for sure. The outdoor fireplace was not operable and when I asked if they could turn it on I was told they don't allow wood fires in California. Well the fireplace has gas piped to it and was capped. Not sure if it's a permit issue or trying to save $$ but wasn't able to enjoy the outdoor seating area without the fire. Also, be prepared to eat your breakfast in your room or in the outdoor area on the second floor as the dining room only has 3 tables. Didn't try the pool, but it is small!

Vicky C.

Yelp
The rooms are remodeled and clean. I found the space large enough and the location is excellent to walk downtown and to the beach.

Joe T.

Yelp
yes, this is a Best Western and not a Four Seasons but this is a definite 5 star for this place. The front office staff (I think the owners) are super friendly and helpful. The rooms and hotel itself are all very clean and super well maintained, maybe the best BW that I have stayed in. Comfortable bed, excellent location. The only small issue was weak water pressure in the shower.
google avatar

Yelp
Room wasn't finished being renovated. Bathroom had a lot of issues. Sink wasn't fully installed. Water not very hot. Grout on floor missing so you stubbed your toe on the raised ledge in bathroom door. This could lead to tripping. Room smelled of construction from next door. Walls not yet painted. Everything was plain white, including the beds. Nothing hanging on the wall. The room was devoid of color, like nobody cared to attempt to decorate. 4 plain scuffed white walls, unfinished renovated bathroom with chips in tile and damaged sink, all for $325 per night. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, he just explained that they are budget motel in an expensive area. Fine, but doesn't excuse curtains with holes. He should have offered to refund some of my money, but didn't. So now he gets a 1 star review. Also complimentary breakfast consisted of pre-wrapped Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches and a microwave. Gross. There are plenty of good bakeries around town for them to offer a few fresh baked goods. At this point they are using the pandemic as an excuse to do the bare minimum and stick to pre packaged granola bars and cellophane wrapped preservative filled muffins with a shelf life of 6 months. Other places we stayed at on our trip had no problem providing some appetizing fresh options for complimentary breakfast. So it can be done. In closing, the room looked nothing like the photos. Except the furniture which is now 4 years older and more worn. The manager wasn't rude, but for sure wanted to let me know, this is how it is in expensive Carmel for a cheap hotel. I'm guessing other people have complained to him as well. Just take some pride man. If rooms aren't ready for guests, you can't ask for your top price. Maybe it will all look nice when the renovations are done. Although I doubt it, since it looks like very shoddy cheap work. Until then, buyer beware, you aren't getting the photos.

Yelp
What a great choice this hotel was, and with their Manager, Sanjay at the front desk we felt like we were in perfect hands. There were 3 of us, and we had reserved their 2 bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms, and couldn't have been happier with the room layout and amenities. The views & sounds of the ocean in the distance on a very popular but quiet street was ideal. A 1/2 block away was the famous Hog's Breath Inn, art galleries and great shopping. Sanjay, the Manager was just unbelievable, he saw to our every need with extra towels, pillows, great breakfast packages due to Covid, and the best restaurant recommendations in town. Plus he gave us his card and by mentioning his name, we were given 10% off our restaurant tabs. You can't possibly go wrong at this hotel, it's not like any other Best Western, with their central location, cleanliness, attention to their guests and consideration it was really great. Sanjay, you truly made our stay so wonderful, that we canceled our 3rd night in Pismo Beach just to stay here for 3 consecutive nights (we had only reserved 2 nights). We hope to return again very soon. Thank you very much Sanjay!

Stephanie R.

Yelp
I'm going to be frank and to the point- this place is a DUMP. Capital D.U.M.P. Do not let the outside charm of this place fool you. The rooms are dirty, sticky, gross (despite the manager walking us to our room telling us how everything was just recently remodeled.. which may be true, but it was most definitely not recently cleaned). We stayed in a room at an end of the hallway that had the ice machine across from it. It also had USED plungers, gross traffic cones, and trash all over the ground within 3 feet of our room door. They also did not clean our room during our three night stay which doesn't surprise me because I honestly don't think they clean the rooms at all. I am convinced any 3+ star reviews are from fake emails/accounts or paid bots. The rest of the reviews agree with our review. It's unfortunate that we booked this room in a hurry and didn't do the proper research that we should have. I refuse to believe anyone who has stayed here would actually leave anything above a 2 star review. I've attached photos for reference... I'm only giving one star because 1) I have too, since yelp won't let you give zero and 2) because the location is actually great. Still not worth the money though- we paid $1150 for three nights. Also, there was no AC.

Yelp
November 2022 The longer we stayed the more disappointed we became. More like 2.5 stars and I'm rounding up. On the plus side we had a beautiful ocean view room. Hotel is very central and walkable to everything in Carmel. The room interior was nice enough and the room had recently been renovated. Finally it was cold during our visit but the room heater worked well and accurately. Other reviews mention the renovations and they are ongoing. Lots of noise and hammering during the day. Also the place across the street is getting worked on and generates a lot of noise. So if you're looking to nap in the afternoon or get a kid settled down to nap this is going to be an issue. Also the shower is very small. If you're trying to bathe an infant or toddler who's only used to a tub you'll need to adjust, as we did. Finally, the front desk guy was kinda stingy on extra towels we asked for and there was dried blood on one of the bed's sheets.

Yelp
EVERYTIME I stay here, I enjoy it more. The owners make staying in this world class town so enriching.. When you choose this location you are in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea. You are within walking distance of great art galleries and great food and great bars. You are a short walk from Carmel Beach. And situated between Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, the world renowned 17 mile drive and The Monterey Bay Aquarium. The rooms are clean and well appointed and parking is included in the price. We just stayed two nights this last time, but we will be back again.

Yelp
After booking a room at the wayfere inn the customer service was horrible, the guy was older and was just so rude as soon as we walked in. We ended up finding a deal at best western and when I tell you this place is SO clean and the customer service is so incredible. We are just so thankful for how the staff treated us how clean and nice the rooms are. If you're looking for a nice spot for a weekend in Carmel this is the spot for you!

Bay A.

Yelp
Horrible hotel. Don't stay here. Booked the hotel the night before the stay. Grandma was hospitalized later that evening. Tried to cancel the stay a mere 8 hours after booking but was told it was non refundable. Asked for the manager and was told there was none. Grandma was released from the hospital late that night so we ended up going to the hotel anyways. Booked the room as an Accessible Room. Upon arrival, was told we booked a non accessible room, even though the reservation shows we booked an accessible room. The poor condition of the hotel was somewhat expected. The poor customer service was not. We won't be back.

Yelp
Our stay at The Best Western in Carmel was simply wonderful. Sanjay is the epitome of what an owner/proprietor should be. He is welcoming, friendly, attentive, and gracious. He doesn't just take your money, he offers you SERVICE. He is very knowledgeable of the best places to dine and even the best way to charge your EV. The property itself is located within walking distance of everything important in Carmel for those visiting. Food, wine, shopping and the beach are a few blocks away. The rooms are nice and CLEAN. They are not super fancy( Who cares? Carmel is about experiencing the CITY), but they are not run down either. Its simply a nice room at a fair price. The breakfast is more than enough for a quick bite. There is ample parking and the property is quiet. When we return, which will be SOON, we will be staying at THIS PROPERTY. It will be our "second home".

Yelp
The Best Western Carmel's Town House Lodge is a comfortable and cozy place to stay in Carmel. This two-story lodge is conveniently located in the middle of the Carmel and is near many fancy shops and first class restaurants to enjoy. I recently stayed two nights and had a first class experience there. The rooms are clean and spacious, and a breakfast is included. The location is perfect for shopping and visiting Carmel. The recently remodeled bathroom has a modern feel. This Town House Lodge is a few blocks from Carmel Beach and there are some nice parks within walking distance. This place has a cool outdoor patio on the second floor. There is free parking and wifi. The Lodge's manager/owner, Sanjay, was very nice and asked us several times how was our stay and if we needed anything. Based on my experience and how much I enjoyed my stay here, this Best Western Carmel's Town House Lodge earns a "Five star" rating. Thank you Sanjay for making our stay so relaxing and comfortable.

Yelp
It's always about customer service and Sanjay was the best! Professional, friendly and flexible. An annual family / friends visit for the AT&T ProAm and he made our stay stress-free and more enjoyable. We've stayed at this place many times pre-COVID and with every place, wanted to make sure all was clean and safe and it was. My only suggestion is to have an after hours or a 24-hour microwave/vending machine available. Thank you and see you next year

Yelp
Excellent location - everything is easy walking distance. The property is very quiet and the beds and pillows were excellent. It's a bit of a dated property with a 60s/70s motel vibe, but the room was clean, comfortable, and spacious.

Joe E.

Yelp
The manager, Sanjay, was a terrific host with a great attitude and demeanor. He, unfortunately, was the highlight of the experience. On the plus side: The room had a walk-in closet and a reasonably good mattress and the wifi was good and reliable and the lodge is well-located in Carmel. On the down side: The walls were paper thin and noise from other rooms and from the street could clearly be heard as though there were no walls at all and this was on the 2nd floor. The room was stark white walls, with only one print on one piece of the wall and this starkness was exacerbated by the fluorescent lighting used in the lamps. The decor was uninviting and the room lacked warmth. There was no air conditioning available and no floor coverings on the stone floor. The TV lacked an electronic programming guide and had no premium channels and had no ability to use personal Youtube and Hulu accounts as so many hotels/motels/lodges do now. The pillows were foam and when I requested feather pillows, i was told that they were not available per Best Western policies/guidelines. The free breakfast was very underwhelming, with dishwater coffee and a very narrow selection of food, lacking bagels, which are available at most self-serve breakfasts I've been to at lodgings like this. There was loud construction going on directly across the street that started at 7.30am and there were no warnings or advisories on the Best Western website advising about this prior to booking. Averaging $230+ a night, I would have expected more from this establishment and in the future will seek other accommodations when going to the Carmel area.

Yelp
The Carmel Townhouse is the best budget lodging in Carmel. The location is central to everything. Nothing is too far of a walk. The rooms are nicer than most of the lodgings in this price range. It's very clean. Because of Covid I brought Lysol wipes to clean surfaces and there wasn't a spec of dust or dirt on them after use. The sun deck is lovely at sunset. The only thing I can ding them for is not enough towels, but that can be fixed by a call to housekeeping. The breakfast could use an update.Because of Covid is pretty minimal. Maybe add some yogurt or hard boiled eggs for some protein. Sangay was very helpful and friendly when checking in. We only stayed one night but are booked again for my birthday soon. Looking forward to more time in Carmel. Luckily we live close by.

Yelp
We have been coming to Carmel for many years, at least 1-2 times per year and always stay at this hotel. We loved the location and really enjoyed the service and the front desk personnel. It was also reasonably priced compare to other hotels near by. This time was definitely our last. We were put next to the room where renovations were taking place. The noise was unbearable. You can't rest, nap or even hear each other talk. When we checked in, we were told that the work will stop in 15 minutes. It was going on for hours and came right back the next morning. (I spoke to the manager the 1st day and my husband did the next day - not even a "sorry" or offering to switch rooms.) Our room was filthy. Layers of dirt and dust. At check in, the manager kept bragging about how the room was just renovated...who cares about the new floor if it is so dirty that I dont even want to roll my suitcase on it? The room did not have a closet. (No wardrobe, no nook, not a single hanger and not even a hook). I guess when renovating this room they decided that it would be an unnecessary expense. I have never been in a room where I couldn't hang a single piece of clothing. Internet was nonexistent. TV wasn't set up correctly (good thing im electronically savvy), the water wasn't hot, beds and pillows were so bad i wanted to sleep in the car.....but these were minor things compare to the noise and dirt. The entire stay left a very bad after taste and we will definitely stay elsewhere next time at any cost. A tip--when trying to push "the best" restaurants at guests during check in, first ask if they want a recommendation. It felt like a time share presentation, that would never stop (even after a polite request)

Yelp
We booked staying here on our way up from Orange county. Carmel is a beautiful town. Upon checking in we were greeted by Sanjay who was extremely welcoming and hospitable. Whenever we had a question he was very helpful and accommodating. I will highly recommend staying here. The place was reasonably priced and very clean. I don't nor does my party have any problems or complaints.

Alejandro M.

Yelp
Very accommodating, and informative owners. The property is beautiful and EXTREMELY conveniently placed. Upper deck area with seating that overlooks a charming village themed downtown area. Will be back!

Irene O.

Yelp
You can improve your hospitality. Your front desk person was incredibly RUDE and aggressive to myself and my 10-year-old daughter just now! At approximately at 8:00pm on Saturday, May 25, I was harassed, yelled at and belittled for using your LOBBY Restroom and not being a paying guest at your facility. It is my common knowledge that it is ok to use a LOBBY restroom at hotels EVEN FOR NON-GUESTS. You DO NOT HAVE A PRIVATE sign hanging outside your door AND NO ONE was to be found at your front desk at the time I entered your restroom. He made me feel like a common criminal for using the facility. Most LOBBY restrooms are "The majority of hotels permit non-guests to use their lobby restrooms without any restrictions." (Referencing a quick Google search!) PLEASE EDUCATE YOUR FRONT DESK STAFF AND/OR HANG A "PRIVATE GUEST-ONLY" SIGN OUTSIDE YOUR RESTROOM. I will NEVER stay at your establishment or any other BW FACILITY. I wish I got the name of your incredibly RUDE front desk person.

Yelp
A short while back, prior to all the recent changes to our current day and time, we took a short trip to Carmel. We kept simple as we wanted to maximize our experience in Carmel so we looked for a spot most central to the town. Yes, a 5 star experience at a Best Western. Not to say Best Western isn't a 5 Star hotel, but realistically it's usually it's known to be the best price for what you would traditionally expect to receive from an economical stay anywhere you go. In this case, it was a 5 star in comparison to several of the other similar lodging locations in the area. Quality... The room was well kept and clean. Location... Easy access in and out of the nearby spots around Carmel. It was a good compliment to our mini-outing. We didn't get to try the complimentary breakfast as we wanted to get right into the Carmel experience and immerse ourselves right away each morning. The folks around town were super cool and friendly. Lots of great conversation where ever we went. From the hotel management to anyone we encountered around town. We'll for sure be returning to Carmel for some more nearby away from home short term fun and relaxation and when we do, Best Western will be on our list.

Yelp
I had a great stay for my COVID-cation. 3 nights. When I asked if I could take my bicycle into my room, they replied that I could, but it would be cramped. I was confused. But when I arrived, I saw that the rooms are European-sized! But it was just me, so it was fine. Bathroom is really small, but again, only me. The deck is great, with a peek of the ocean. It was a good alternative when one of the bars left me sitting outside on my own for 15min without acknowledging me, so I came back to the patio, got a drink out of my own stash, and enjoyed the rare warm evening. Priced at 1/3 of normal, it was a no-brainer choice. And it's perfectly located for today's era of grab-n-go meals.

Chris H.

Yelp
We did not have a good experience. Room was not clean upon arrival, bits of food on the floor from guests prior. Low end motel room, meeting the bare minimum of amenities; not at all on par with what I expect and pay for when choosing Best Western. Our expectations were far from met, and we will definitely choose a different hotel on our next trip.

Yelp
I stayed here for one night. I would use this hotel for just that, a quick overnight stay. It's average rooms nothing fancy. Staff is nice. I thought the bed was hard. But the one thing that got me was the room wasn't really clean. In the restroom the air vent was filthy...it takes one second to wipe that off. There was also a used shampoo bottle on the floor so it makes you wonder if they swept or mopped the restroom. Very affordable though and really close to all the cute shops.

Yelp
This hotel is located downtown Carmel it is within walking distance of several restaurants, and shops. The managers of this hotel are very friendly and courteous. My hotel room and bathroom were small and clean. Cost of my hotel room was $190 for weekend nights. The hotel Wi-Fi do not work consistently and was weak. The hotel provided A continental breakfast that you had to eat in your room, as there were no dining area available. The breakfast selection was very limited, and consisted of sausage and egg sandwiches, yogurt, instant oatmeal, and muffins. Instead of eating breakfast at this hotel, I recommend walking to a nearby restaurant for breakfast. This hotel is located inside Carmel so if you really need a room just to sleep in at a reasonable price, and you're not looking for amenities, then this is a place to stay.

Yelp
Excellent friendly check in. We find friendly employees at just about every BW we have stayed at. This is not a "lodge" as stated in name, it's a motel (or at least the section we stayed in was). And with reading some of the other reviews, it seems your room is the luck of the draw or their expectations are to high. With that said we were assigned a room on the "third floor". We had to drive around the corner to access a separate parking lot and there was only 4 rooms here and was right above the parking lot. You have to carry your suitcase up a steep flight of stairs. But the positive is there are no rooms above or below you. We reserved a king and thats what we got. Room is dark and on the older side but it was clean. There was a small heated pool. Breakfast was included with room rate. Ample parking (main reason I booked this plus the location). There is an in room mini fridge, very comfy bed and pillows (I find this a theme at all BW's too), decent sized flat screen tv but reception at times was poor, excellent wifi. Room did get stuffy and has no AC but I knew this before I booked the room (do your homework!) there was a fan in room but it still got quite stuffy. Bathroom exhaust fan was extremely annoying because it automatically went on when you put the light on and was loud. Sink/vanity was outside the bathroom. There is some street noise but this is to be expected since YOUR IN TOWN!!! Excellent location. Restaurants and shops are all just minutes walk.

Yelp
My son (almost 2 yrs) and I loved our stay here and room 122 is where it's at! The hotel is quaint and quiet and very clean. The room we had was on the first floor so very accessible and newly remodeled/updated. There was also plenty of space for the pack n' play, all of my son's toys that we brought and space for me to workout during his nap. Lastly, the parking lot is great and always had spaces available (most hotels in Carmel you have to pay or street parking only). All big wins! The Hotelier was super sweet, available, welcoming and even offered to grab us whole milk from her house when ours had run out. She also gave me tips of where to take my son in the area, including the local fire station to see the fire trucks (which he loved!). Next time we visit Carmel, we will definitely be staying there again! Thank you so much for a great weekend and stay.

Yelp
We recently stayed here over the weekend right before the 4th of July. Pros: Great sun deck & pool area, courtious employees, breakfast provided, hair dryer and fans provided. Good location- walking distance to restaurants and shops. Updated and spacious room- good value. Provided plenty of blankets, towels, and pillows. Very clean room. Cons: 30 minutes late checking us in (past check in time), could hear some noise/stair sounds in our room, small parking lot, no AC, and a lot of stairs. Also the bed and couch were both rather firm. Overall, it was a good experience and we would consider staying here again next time we are in the area.

Yelp
This place is tucked away in the heart of Carmel. Parking is included for your stay. We were greeted nicely and were given all the COVID rules... no cleaning of rooms, breakfast will be in bags to pick up in the check in lobby, call or go to the office for other amenities such as extra towels etc. Upon entering our room - and we were walked to our room! , it was decently clean. There was a fridge but no microwave. There's a safe in the room to use for your valuables- big enough to fit a laptop or two plus other essentials with no problem. The hot water was HOT! The shower seemed to have a good spray attachment and didn't run hot and cold like some of the hotels. There seemed to be ample plugs for stuff like chargers.. the lamps had one outlet each on each side of the bed and on the desk too. In the bathroom, there was 2 open shelves under the sink to store your cosmetic bag and man bag lol. This hotel is pretty close to a lot of things in downtown Carmel and makes it a good location for walks and drinking without having to drive. It's not the fanciest place, but the bed was comfortable and the water was hot. The only things were that the lighting was dim and they have thin walls. We could hear everything our neighbor said and we happened to have a neighbor who wanted to talk at 1 am every morning and leave their bathroom fan on (which we could hear) almost for 24 hours and smoke pot which seeped through our bathroom wall. If the price was right, I might stay again, but so many places to explore ya know? Hope this was helpful .

Yelp
Room was spotless, bed was so comfortable and the front desk was very personable and friendly. Fantastic location and a huge perk to have parking in Carmel by the sea. Everything was a couple minutes away so it was nice to not even have to move the car. I will be back for sure.

Yelp
My wife and I went to Carmel for our 25th anniversary. This was our 2nd time staying at this hotel. We enjoy staying here as restaurants and the shops on Ocean are all within walking distance. The morning free breakfast is very good! Hot waffles, scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage, cereal and more. The coffee is really good ,too. Another reason we like staying here , the management and staff are all very friendly. Thank you

Yelp
I booked a stay here for September 4th driving back north from a trip to San Diego, I was quite disappointed because of an issue with my bank card, the card was declined. I was driving here late to only find out that they cancelled my reservation. Without any effort in calling me or emailing me. The front desk argued that they had none of my information, but then changed her stance to saying she called multiple times and no answer. Instead of apologizing, having empathy or assisting me in finding a solution she was rude, unprofessional and honestly hurtful. When I asked for her manager she told me that he wouldn't be in until Tuesday when I asked for her name she kept saying front desk, and was very hesitant to give me any info. She eventually stated Marie, when I asked for her manager info she refused to provide me any info. Or even a contact number. It was the worst customer experience ever received. Driving late with a baby is dangerous enough she didn't even bother to try and help me she just hung up me. I didn't deserve for her to project her bad moments or day onto me. My recommendation for Marie is to look into basic hospitality courses. I was quite disappointed. P.S. I was able to resolve my bank card issue and booked at another hotel by taking a detour at the Oxford Suites.

Yelp
Terrible experience. It was 60 degrees outside but the room was 90 degrees and kept heating up. Checked heater which was off. Found 3 portable fans that were in room clearly because this was known problem. The floor of the room was radiating heat for some reason making the room unbearably hot and even with all windows and door wide open the heat just kept coming. Since we couldn't sleep we went downstairs below the room and sure enough there was a hot huge vented door that said "danger mechanical and pool systems" from which came the loud humming of machines. We literally spent some of the night sleeping on the hallway floor outside of course after asking to switch rooms but told we could not. In the morning, the female manager told us it was the weather and not the room (even though it was 60 degrees outside) and that there wasn't any mechanical equipment under our room. My pictures and video with sound prove otherwise. She could have apologized and admitted to the obvious problem of this room, but her blatant denial and telling us we were making this up was more than upsetting. Highly discourage going here. The room was in terrible condition and dirty too. Will never go back.

Yelp
Stay at Carmel and Monterey at list twice a year, and this place is not really friendly, the man and the lady at the front desk are not welcoming and have a bad attitude... not helpful at all, the rest of the personal is okay, at best, they do as they are tell by the office....

Yelp
This is a late review however I will take the time to write it because my family and I had a good experience staying here. Unfortunately I can't remember the gentleman's name whom helped my check in process however he was not only helpful but very accommodating. My husband and I plus our toddlers where given a downstairs room and it was so close to our parking spot thanks to the front desk gentleman. Rooms were clean , bathroom was clean . Hotel is was close to many shopping stores and a gas station. Will definitely be staying here again if we decide to stay the night again.

Yelp
First, Shout out to Sanjay, the man behind the front desk, who made an effort to mail to us the earrings that my wife left in this hotel after we checked out. Thank you so much Sanjay. I and my wife truly enjoyed staying in this hotel as it close to most of the shops and dining place in Carmel. The place is well-kept aside from the good customer service of the front office. I'm looking forward of staying here again when the Christmas season comes.

Yelp
Upon arrival we found we were charged for '3' rooms instead of 2. Then we were told come back at 330 and rooms would be ready - only to return to have to be waiting out in the cold as rooms we NOT ready- not even close. Our room had 2 towels, 1 washcloth and no soap! Coffee maker had no coffee except 1 decaf packet and no extra TP rolls in the bath! Stayed only one night to move to a better 'Hotel' and leave the no-tell motel behind!

Yelp
Situated in a great location, just a couple of blocks from Ocean Ave, which is where all the shopping and lots of restaurants are, the hotel offers free parking, wireless and continental breakfast. We arrived about 9:30pm, but the office was closed. An envelope with our name was taped to the door which included a letter and our room keys. A little odd, but I guess it worked. Rooms are updated and nice looking. The bed was comfortable. The hotel info binder in the room was pretty outdated, so wasn't much help. The bathroom window faced the parking lot and was in front of other room doors and only had a thin curtain and didn't offer much privacy, so I added a towel over the curtain. It fulfilled all of our needs (location, price, comfort & cleanliness) for our stay in Carmel and I would stay again.

Yelp
Had a great stay just after Labor Day. Rooms very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Sanjay is very personable and took excellent care of us. Had two upstairs rooms and enjoyed the private deck with lovely views of cypress trees and distant ocean views. Excellent location and great value for Carmel.
