Best Western Chinatown Hotel

Absolutely Disgusting and Overpriced – Avoid at All Costs! False Advertising at Its Worst. I booked a 12-night stay here through Expedia (split into two prepaid bookings: Nov 5-8 and Nov 8-17, 2025), expecting a decent Best Western standard based on the branding, photos, and description suggesting a modern, clean upscale hotel in a convenient location. What I got was a filthy, infested dump that doesn't even deserve two stars, charging prices comparable to actual five-star properties like the Pan Pacific Yangon (where I fortunately moved after just two nights).From the moment I checked in, it was a nightmare:The room was dirty with visible grime. Cockroaches scurried around openly. The toilet was constantly blocked (even when empty), and when I called for help, a staff member tried to unclog it with his bare hand wrapped in a plastic bag – no plunger, utterly unhygienic! I woke up covered in insect bites from the bed bugs or whatever was infesting the linens. Basic amenities were missing: body soap and shampoo dispensers were completely empty on arrival. When I requested refills, staff showed up with diluted mixtures in old water bottles, half-filled the dispensers, refused to top them up properly, and then tracked muddy footprints all over the bathroom floor and even onto the towels. Lights flickered constantly. Internet dropped out repeatedly or didn't work at all. Power outages (common in Yangon) were made worse because the hotel's backup generator took forever to kick in, leaving me in the dark for extended periods. This place is grossly overpriced for what it is – a one- or two-star motel at best, yet priced like luxury competitors such as Pan Pacific, Yangon Excelsior, or Wyndham Grand. The false advertising of a clean, reliable "Best Western" experience tricked me into prepaying for a stay I couldn't even complete. I checked out early on November 7th after enduring just two miserable nights and lost hundreds in non-refundable charges.Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere – I switched to the Pan Pacific Yangon for similar or lower rates and it was night and day better: spotless, professional, no pests. This hotel is a complete rip-off and health hazard. One star only because zero isn't an option. Stay far away!

If you're looking for a place with nice room and nice breakfast near downtown, here is the best place with fair price. I like the breakfast here and restaurant's menu are fair price with good taste and enough portion. This will be my always choice if I want to take rest in downtown. And 3 minutes walk to 19th street which people well know bar street in Yangon.

Really nice view while walking into the room being greeted by the shwedagon pagoda, one thing I really like is that they have a sports channel for people who like watching f1; including me. One thing that I despise is the croissant, it tastes a bit bitter not sure why.. but overall this is a really good place to stay if you want a nice view

I recently stayed from May 22nd to 25th, and had a great experience! The room and food were of good quality. The staff and management were friendly and welcoming. #芳姐

1. The bathroom is not clean and has stains.2. When taking the elevator on each floor, the waiting area for the elevator does not have air conditioning.3. The restaurant air conditioner is not cool.4. There is not much food to choose from.5. The room is very small.6. Not worth the price paid7. The internet signal is not very strong.Overall the hotel needs to improve a lot.

I went to this place, and it was awesome! location is not bad, do not feel safe at night as environment is dark with few or no people at night time, accessible to china town easily, lobby is small, people there are super nice, and they have yummy food. The spa people are really good at massages, too! In the morning, you can hear people at the bazaar, it's very noisy.

Stayed 5 nights at this hotel with an entire football team (players & staff). Hotel staff and management worked really hard to accomodate the demands of our team (dining, gym, internet, etc.). Because of the staff and quality of the hotel amenities & food, the stay was very cozy and welcoming. Kudos to the manager and staff! Salamat!

We stayed here twice during our Myanmar trip. The location is very handy for tourists, the staff are very helpful and friendly, from concierge to reception to the restaurant, and the price is very reasonable. Best of all is the food: the breakfast service is better than many high class establishments. I certainly did not get bored with the selections available. We also chose to dine in the hotel restaurant for some of our evening meals and the food was superb each time. The apparent negatives mentioned by other reviewers are trivial. Yes the lobby is small, but we were not inconvenienced by this at all. And yes the local area is 'gritty'. But it is in Chinatown after all. Some people welcome this authentic local colour of street vendor chaos as adding to their Myanmar experience. We enjoyed our two stays and would be happy to stay here again.
