"Most Best Western hotels adhere to a beige conformity sprinkled with a bit of Southwestern desert flair, but the Best Western Denver Southwest has blown the doors off by embracing the area’s paleontological history and decorating the whole place with faux dinosaur bones, statues, and other Jurassic bric-a-brac. Run by hoteliers Greg and Meredith Tally, the hotel was given its five million dollar makeover in 2013 in order to celebrate the rich history of dinosaur discovery in the area. Nearby “Dinosaur Ridge” was the site where the first stegosaurus bones were found, as well as the first remains of an Apatosaurus, two major finds in the field of paleontology which forever associated the area with thunder lizards. The Tally’s have their own stegosaurus, named Stanley, that greets guests in the front of the hotel, although he is simply a fiberglass statue (unfortunately). Once inside, visitors are greeted with a huge, replica stegosaurus skeleton that looks like it was just dusted out of the rock behind the reception desk. Nearby is a lobby lounge that is kitted out to look like a lush explorer’s club of yesteryear, complete with T-Rex skull and man height femurs. There is also a dino-themed restaurant and other smaller touches like colorful murals covering the exterior walls and a Pterosaur-shaped weather vane." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

This is the most quiet, peaceful hotel I have ever stayed at. It's in a busy area with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Good restaurants across the street. Main drag is a bit busy, so be careful if on foot. Hotel is clean, very comfortable beds and friendly staff. Slept like a log, it was so quiet. Couldn't even tell there were other guests staying there. Cool dinosaur theme throughout.

Reviews for this hotel are all over the board. We are Best Western rewards member and we got a good rate, plus it was close to Red Rock Amphitheater. We decided to give it a try, but we were prepared to go elsewhere if needed. We stayed 3 nights, hotel was clean and quiet, staff was fine. Hotel is very dated and getting run down. Dinosaur theam was small and not a factor. Pool and hot tub were open but looked like it needed to be drained and the walls scrubbed. Breakfast was medium at best, not a lot of choices and out of a lot of things. Rooms are only cleaned by request, which is fine but we never got clean towels and would end up getting our own clean towels from laundry room every day. My bed was clean but mattress wore out. There are obvious transient in the neighborhood area, but we never saw any on the hotel grounds. Bottom line...I would probably look for someplace else next time.

I would qualify this hotel as somewhat of a "hidden gem" in that the cost is very reasonable, the hotel in reasonably good shape, and the rooms were clean. It's in a part of Lakewood that (other than rush hour) is very quiet and peaceful. The location is also convenient - away from downtown but close enough to 470 and I-70 (about 10 -15 minutes each), to make it convenient for the pass-through travel.||The only negative we experienced was the location is in an area of Lakewood where there appear to be a lot of transients (we saw police and an EMT crew assisting what appeared to be a homeless person in distress right across the street. It's not a significant issue but I would be aware of it. The break was very good, and the amenities (pool, fitness center, etc.) appeared to be in good shape, although we didn't use them.

Absolutely the nicest Best Western I have ever stayed at. I love the Dinosaur theme! The lobby is decorated entirely with dinosaur bones and fossils and paintings, and the theme extends throughout every room of the building as well as murals on wall. Everything is clean and tidy. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Delicious free breakfast with great coffee. 6 out of 5 stars!

We had an excellent experience staying here while visiting Colorado. The service at the front desk was great, and very friendly. The hotel is very clean, and the rooms are in great condition. The bathrooms are only slightly dated. The hotel itself is right off the highway, putting it very close to most places in Denver, and also to Red Rock. The free breakfast was also great. And lastly, we LOVED the dinosaur theme! Would definitely recommend this hotel to others!

Update: zero stars. I just now figured out they double charged my mom's card for this room and they are refusing to help fix it. I was staying at this hotel for an emergency. My husband was hospitalized near by and I choose to stay at this hotel because it was close to the hospital. I'm extremely disappointed in these practices and I'll tell everyone I know to never stay at a best western again. Absolutely fantastic and clean hotel. Super cool dinosaur accents. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and that never happens with hotel food. Pool and hottub are awesome.

Enjoyed my stay at this BW property! The hotel is well sized with a gym, pool and a restaurant. The room was spacious and the beds were good. The only negative about the room was that the walls are a little thin or not very sound isolating and you can hear people in other rooms or the hallway. Other than that the hotel is great, includes breakfast with great options and parking! Definitely recommend!

“3 stars because the experience was not bad, not great, just confusing” -my traumatized friend Alright y’all, here’s what happened. We checked in at 10pm and the room key didn’t work so the guy let us in to unpack and then came back 20 minutes later with another key that still didn’t work so he gave us a new “better room”. Well call us colonizers because this “better room” was already occupied when we discovered it. So the first room was locked, the second room was occupied and the third room was juuuust right. Except for the fact that there were no towels, or soap or even a shower curtain. So we snuggled up in the heavily febreezed sheets and called it a night. At 7am the fire alarm rudely disrupted our curtainless shower. After 30 minutes outside with wet hair, we were finally told it was a false alarm (Also, Colorado FD, your response time is excrementitious). To end our brief stay, we asked for some sort of compensation from the concierge which she quickly refused but offered us a bag of chips and a V8 with 82mg of caffeine. Obviously a total steal on our part so we quickly accepted that offer before she could rescind it. As we turned to leave, we were kindly greeted by the resident drunk(?) who gave us a detailed history of the last 31 years of his life. Cali, if you’re reading this, you’re awesome man. And you need to get your arrest warrant figured out ASAP. Also, shout out to the concierge who ate her snack while watching two 5 ft girls be followed around by a fresh out da slammer 6’2 dude. If we ever come back, we’re bringing shower curtains and a taser. This may sound like a 1 star review but let me explain the other stars. This hotel is dinosaur themed. And not just like “oh look a dinosaur picture” I’m talking REAL fossils, dinosaur sprinkles for the oatmeal and an actual paleontologist in the lobby ready to discuss all the dino desires of your heart- including all the dino drama between rival fossil fiends Charles Marsh and Edward Cope (#enemiestolovers?). There’s also a wheel of fortune you can spin to win little mini dinos and dope ass rocks. I guarantee no other hotel can provide you with a 7am adrenaline rush, 2 oz of nacho cheese Doritos (for free!) and closing your exercise rings (had to take the scenic route to get Cali off our trail) all by 8:30am. I’d also like to give an honorary mention to all the dog parents who ran outside with their fur babies while literally ~all~ the human parents came outside and asked if they needed to wake their kids up or not. To summarize: ⭐️ for service, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for decor, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for cute dogs, and -⭐️⭐️⭐️since we will have to pay a therapist to help us process the truly once in a lifetime experience we had here. ***EDIT: they reached out and made things right. Honestly, we will probably go back purely for the dinosaurs.
