The Hotel was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Housekeeping staff work really hard. They have a very efficient strategy to save the environment which is when you place a 'Do Not Disturb' card on your door, they will not service your room and they then offer a $8 voucher at Embers Restaurant (their inhouse eatery). Having said that, our experience at Embers was very poor. There was 4 adults and 1 child and our meals took over an hour to arrive; we ordered chicken nuggets and chips for our grandson and it took over an hour. I don't care what is going on in the kitchen, but as an ex-Chef you get the kids meals out ASAP. Additionally, when we mentioned this experience to a family member, they were apologetic that they didn't warn us of Embers as when they recently had gone as a family of 8 for a Pizza night, their meals didn't arrive at the table for nearly 2 hours; at 30-40 minutes, I would have walked out. Also, I'm aghast that as a guest, I should be subsidising the breakfast by paying $29 for a continental breakfast. I wouldn't eat $29 worth of a hot breakfast, let alone a continental breakfast. Maybe Best Western could have a set menu for Hot and Continental breakfast. Based on the above, even though the Hotel stay was good and satisfactory, we wouldn't stay there again, but closer to the CBD.
