Best Western Hotel Bellevue au Lac

Comfortable stay here with a good location and beautiful view of the lake. The room for 4- 2 adults and 2 kids on separate sofa beds - wasn’t the biggest but was clean and comfortable. We also had a lovely and big terrace looking directly onto the lake. The staff were friendly and helpful. Slightly expensive but the exchange rate doesn’t help.

Terrible experience. We booked 2x Junior suite rooms and our rooms were facing the back of the hotel ! We booked 3 months prior and was promised lake facing rooms. Lower category rooms were lake facing. Check in lady didn’t give us city visit pass and we spent over 75chf on travelling ! After 2 days we found that the hotel gives the passes free. Our suite was smelling of paint. The beds were on wheels and moved when you shifted your body. Bathroom has a hand shower which doesn’t go above 5 feet or 155 cms !! The water pressure is extremely low. After spending over $350 per night per room, it’s like a highway robbery. It’s a 2 star hotel charging you 5 star rates

This hotel ended up charging me double for my stay. When I have tried to approach the hotel so that my credit card can be refunded for the extra 600 dollars that I was charged the hotel said it was not their responsibility! They refuse to stand up to try to help their customers. I was told that this overcharging recently happened to over 28 people! They are not really a Best Western. They are a franchise so the corporate office does not follow up. Nothing about the hotel was even that great. Food in restaurant was mediocre. The only good thing was the close walking distance to downtown. BE VERY CAREFUL if you stay here...they will not stand behind their name.

Wonderful location and friendly staff for sure! But, here I go again on my rant… Pool is not as shown on the website pics that’s for sure. Fake grassy stuff is old and mildewy, the water is milky and looks under maintained, there’s equipment laying around the pool. The rooms are old furnished and miss matched to add insult to injury. The bed is hard and is a typical 50/ 50 split on the mattress. For 330+ a night plus parking (over 20 bucks extra per night) I’d expect more. Ya, it’s Swiss prices, but it ain’t Swiss quality, that’s for sure. Best part of this place is that it is a 10 minute downtown which is beautiful. I wanted to be excited about the hotel and really wanted to see what the Europeans could do with a best western compared to us Americans, but gotta be honest, this one is just a much of a let down as the stateside one, just removed the carpets and add wooden floors. Shame.. but at least it has AC (somewhat)

Pleasant hotel in a great situation. The hotel isn't huge so you don't get large tour groups. You have the main road in front of the hotel so it's quite noisy with the windows open but silent with the windows closed. There's a construction site next to the hotel but work stops around 17:00 so it wasn't a big deal. |The room was a good size and well equipped with plenty of socket outlets. It was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Unfortunately it has a bath which had sloping sides so it was a little uncomfortable to use the shower. |There's a bus stop just outside the hotel as well as the embarkation jetty for Paradiso for lake excursions. The hotel will give you a Ticino card valid for public transport in the Ticino.

We arrived here late at 9pm, one Thursday evening during the spring of 2023. The owner was there to welcome us, very pleasant experience. The hotel overlooks Lake Lugano, stunning views during sunrise, and during nights. The dinner was good too, service was great, a friendly family-owned hotel for generations, that still stands till today. Rooms were well-maintained, walkways were a bit dark. The lift, however, takes forever to arrive, as there is only one very old lift serving the entire hotel, so do plan your time accordingly especially during the checkout time of 10am

Been refurbished since our last visit and rooms are comfortable, air conditioning worked well and restaurant pleasant. Just felt it had lost that luxury touch in terms of customer service and calibre of staff, and some of the areas, eg outside the main entrance and around the pool, were looking very tired. No major issues for us though.
