Best Western Hotel Darmstadt Mitte

It's a typical Best Western. Check in was quick. Friendly staff all around. The room was decent, had amenities for shower. Sitting area in room also. Bed was rather uncomfortable. Breakfast was pretty decent and only 15 eur. Small bar area serving drinks well into the night. Parking garage directly under the hotel for easy access. And just a few minutes from main square and transport. Overall was good experience.

Very good quality for a 3 star hotel - better than some 4 star I’ve stayed in. Central location and helpful staff. Very clean and decent sized room. Bathroom very good quality and air con efficient. Nice to have fridge in room and outside terrace nice addition. Would definetly stay here again.

This Best Western is very well located near center of Darmstadt. Nice breakfast, free lattes and other coffee from machine in lobby. Several decent restaurants, natural food store, and nice bakeries within a couple blocks. But the rooms are small, and the hotel avoids certain services. For example, no one available to help bring bags in or out. Room cleaning only on request, and you have to confirm that they will clean on the day you requested or else they might forget (like they did with us). Finally, there's no clothes cleaning service offered by hotel, or even available in the vicinity. So make sure you don't arrive with lots of clothes that need washing, or you might be forced to just buy new clothing.

The hotel is well located close to the city center and public transport. It's above a parking garage - however please note access from the parking and to most rooms has no elevator but only stairs. The rooms are outdated but spacious. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience since when I arrived the heating in the room was totally turned off and the room extremely cold (same for my colleague) - only the heating in the hallways was on. The heating was not able to heat this up during the first night, only after the second night it was finally warm - which is when I checked out again. Further room service was not done, though I had put out the sign on the door "please make room". On arrival the staff had suggested to me that I don't need room service since I'm only staying one night - however I did not agree to this as nothing was offered in compensation as is good practice in other hotels. So unfortunately I cannot recommend staying here - at least not in winter (my trip was in March).

Have stayed here several times over the past dozen years or so. Would never stay anywhere else. Staff is excellent…front desk, breakfast room, housecleaning. Rooms and public areas always clean and welcoming. Great morning breakfast service by welcoming staff. And great central location to town sites and all transportation. We’ll always return to Best Western, Mitte.

I stay at this hotel several times each year, and it's always outstanding. The staff are unfailingly polite and helpful, and the facilities are fantastic. The breakfast buffet is INCREDIBLE - delicious, freshly cooked and lots of choice - and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. There is a free coffee machine in reception, and a very reasonably priced bar. The hotel is quiet and ideally located for everything in Darmstadt. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I had a clean spacious room, with a decent sized bathroom (not large, but not cramped either), the hotel is simple but a very good value. The staff were all very friendly, I requested an allergy free room and it was no problem. The location is one block from the pedestrian shopping zone, and a few blocks from the major museums (which are terrific, and not crowded) I was there mostly to visit the architectural gems of Mathildenhöhe, and also the gardens. All were within pleasant walking distance of the hotel. There is an elevator up to the hotel reception, and it is set behind the front street facade, which contributed to a quiet place to stay. There is a no fuss buffet breakfast, and a lounge area if you like. Altogether a good place to stay in Darmstadt.

I stayed in September 2017. The hotel is located 2 blocks from the town square and all of the public transportation. It's very clean and the staff are professional and helpful. The breakfast was awesome!! It had everything - fruit and yogurt bar, pastry bar, assorted cereals and oatmeal, eggs, sausages, cappuccino machine, etc. The room was a good size with plenty of storage area for clothes and luggage. The bathroom had a really narrow bathtub so when showering, I found myself always sliding. They should just remove the tub and install walk-in showers. Also, no facecloths or hair conditioner. They use that 3 in 1 soap, shampoo, conditioner stuff. Fortunately, I had my own. But no facecloth. One thing I was pleasantly surprised by - the way the hotel is laid out, there is a large Zen Garden in the courtyards that separate the two sides of the hotel. You can't enter the garden, but the walls of large windows still give you a sense of tranquility. Every time I walked by, I just breathed a little more deeply and easily. The one thing I didn't appreciate - my stay was arranged and prepaid through AAA. When I wanted to leave a day early (and I gave MORE than 24 hours' notice), they refused to refund the day's charge. Something about "commission." I don't care about commissions. If I give over 24 hours' notice, I expect a refund. So I'll look to AAA about that.

I have stayed here once and sometimes twice a year for the last 14 years. It's a great hotel right in the middle of the city. I love it here and the front desk staff has not changed significantly in years so that's a good sign. Same friendly people greeting me every time. Very clean, very friendly, room always ready on time if not early, great breakfast that's included. Once on a short layover at Frankfurt Airport on the way from Atlanta to Dubai I came here just for the breakfast. The shower has power and the beds are comfortable. There's a bakery closeby (it's Germany of course there is...) and lots of restaurants. Book yourself into this hotel it's great!

Your typical Best Western except in Germany. Good place for Americans to stay to avoid the shock of the typical German hotel experience. Nice basic rooms with big TVs. Quiet place tucked behind the street. Very convenient locations right next to the Luisenplatz for shopping and eating.
