Best Western Hôtel de France

The managers of this charming period hotel bent over backwards to welcome us and optimize our stay. We arrived early and they quickly stored our bags and helped up store our bikes safely. When we returned from lunch, our bags were in our room.||Our room was very comfortably set up with coffee maker and all the tea, sugar, even cream! Comfy bed and bedding too. ||The hotel is right downtown, and our room looked onto a square with outdoor terrace restaurants, but it was perfectly quiet at night. The hotel’s terrace bar offers views of the fortress, and snacks and drinks are available late in the day.||The breakfast buffet was very diverse and full, and an express breakfast is also offered, which I appreciated as a light eater.

We really liked this hotel. We only stayed one night but would very much like to visit again. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was delicious. The only downside was that our room was on the top floor and there were a lot of stairs to climb!

Very friendly staff here😊|We overlooked the square which was a little noisy one night. The hotel is close to everything, and is very comfortable.There is an upstairs bar area with Happy Hour from 5:30pm. Breakfast was very good, with huge choices of hot and cold foods. |There are no lifts in this building so maybe not the best hotel for older guests, however the staff were very helpful with bags.

Fantastic small scale hotel with magnificent atmosphere, large iconic rooms and super friendly and helpful staff. Enjoys my stay and will come back for sure !!

What a magnificent Hotel. We have stayed there before but under the previous Ownership. The upgrading has improved an ancient Hotel. It was delightful, the Staff were kind and keen to show us some of the history surrounding the Building. The breakfast was superb. We will be going to the Hotel de France in Chinon again. Best Western have excelled themselves

Well located in the centre of Chinon with some rooms overlooking the lovely square. Hotel is in an old building but sympathetically modernised with a lovely patio area at the rear. Warm and efficient welcome from reception staff and our room was spotlessly clean with a good size new shower room. Very quiet at night and a good nights rest on a comfy bed. Happily stay here again. (Free parking is available within easy walking distance - we used the car park at PL Jeanne d’Arc)

A great hotel in a great location in Chinon. I was unexpectedly on crutches when we arrived but the staff found me a room on the 1st floor which i managed to navigate to. The staff helped us with luggage on arrival and departure which was much appreciated. We had expected a garage space which didn't pan out but it turned out to be no problem as we found a spot in the parking under the tunnel. The patio area in the hotel was very pleasant to sit and relax in. Breakfast was really nice with lots of choices. Sophie and the rest of the staff were just great. Rooms were on the small side but the hotel was adorable. Thank you!

A fantastic stay in this lovely hotel in a great central location in Chinon, which was one of our favourite stops on our Loire Valley trip. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great roof terrace bar. Would recommend reserving a car parking space.

Lovely setting in the centre of Chinon located in the central square amongst shops, cafes, and restaurants in this quaint and typical rural french town. Very helpful staff and comfortable if a little tired around the edges. It would be sad if it was updated too much as it would lose it's charm but could do with facilities updated a bit, there was 3 of us there for a weekend wedding and it was a little cramped. Didn't eat at the hotel so I don't know what the food was like, however we had a little kitchen area where we could prepare breakfast and surrounded by cafes and a beautiful location we didn't spent much time there. Having said that the staff and in fact the locals couldn't have been nicer and would definitely recommend if you're staying for a few days to tour the area. Lovely river and castle to explore as well as wonderful scenery.
