BEST WESTERN Hotel Royal

We visited for the frukostbuffé and the food itself was genuinely excellent. The selection was fresh and well presented, and the waffle station was a highlight — crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. The passion-fruit salad was also fantastic and felt surprisingly special for a hotel breakfast. Overall, the frukostbuffé alone would easily deserve 5 stars. Unfortunately, our experience with the hotel's communication brought the rating down significantly. We tried calling the hotel for two weeks at different times during regular working hours, and no one answered — except once. When we finally reached someone, the staff member didn’t even know the opening hours for the frukostbuffé on the 1st of January, despite it being just a few days away. We then emailed our gift-card number and booking request for the 2nd of January, clearly explaining that we only wanted the frukostbuffé. The reply we received made it obvious that our message hadn't been read carefully — the staff assumed we wanted to stay overnight instead. The contrast was frustrating: excellent breakfast, but extremely difficult and confusing communication beforehand. If the hotel improves responsiveness and reads guest messages more carefully, this could easily be a top-tier experience.

We arrived by train from Copenhagen airport at the Central Station. Exit the station on the end with the food hall, across the canal and right on the big street along the canal. There is a Hotel sign on the outside of the building visible from a distance, that’s it, probably 8-10 minute walk from the station. We arrived about 9 am and no room available yet but they stored our bags. There was a toilet to use and an area we could re-arrange ourselves before going out. Nice, friendly, helpful lady at the front. ||We came back around 1:30 and the room was ready and were allowed to check in, which was great after an overnight flight. We had a twin bed room in the back wing with a view of the courtyard, an old room with a low ceiling. There was a bedroom next to a sitting area with two easy chairs, work table and chair, fridge, tv, kettle with tea & coffee, all well lit. The bright bathroom had a shower, white tiles, 4 towels with towel warmer. We came up stairs but there is a lift, if needed. It was cool and I figured out how to turn the heat on which took the chill off.||The included breakfast buffet had a nice mix of everything, 4 kinds of cheese, cold cuts, pate, wasa, white and brown breads, fruit, veg, muesli, many yogurts, ginger and blueberry shots, coffee, bacon, sausage, beans, eggs and make your own waffles, all very good. ||Near old town and can walk easily around to see many sites and shopping. There are amazing parks surrounding Malmo Castle. We found a dahlia festival with was fantastic. We could have spent a day just touring the parks. We found ICA supermarkets in the area. Great location, nice staff, would stay here again!

I had a great stay at this hotel. The location is excellent—just a short walk from the city center and the main train station, which made getting around very easy. The food was delicious. My room was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely view, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Definitely a place I would recommend.

We enjoyed our stay especially the breakfast. Very polite staff. The bad parts are that you cannot change the temperature in the room and some spider webs in the corners of the room. The sauna its available on charge.

The location is very good, near the central station and everything that you need to visit in Malmo. Also the staff is kind and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty with lots of choices, and the option of making waffles by yourself was a unique experience. Recommend to everyone who plan to visit Malmo ✨️

Safe & cute neighbourhood, right next to the central station! Also its close to the center of the city! It was really amazing and spacious room. It's affordable and clean! The views of the rooms are nice too. I would only say the breakfast is little bit poor than expected. There was no fruits, just apple in some sauce. But again, all fine and there are options for vegetarians and vegans.

Nice little hotel and my room was spacious and clean. WiFi speed was quite slow unfortunately. The location was great, walking distance to swimming spots, the food hall and the train station.

Initially, we did not anticipate anything extraordinary for a price range of 60-70€, but I was pleasantly surprised. From the outset, the staff exceeded expectations with their friendliness, attentiveness, and clarity in communication, making us feel truly welcome. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the view was nothing short of breathtaking, offering a stunning panorama of Malmö city. The breakfast buffet stood out as one of the finest I have ever experienced in a hotel—perhaps even surpassing the offerings of some upscale restaurants. Additionally, the availability of high-quality, complimentary coffee in the lounge area at all times was a delightful touch. For the price, this hotel delivers remarkable value. Its quality and service impressed me so much that I felt compelled to write this review—something I rarely do. I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend it to others. Cheers from Lithuania

Don't book your stay at this hotel! We stayed one night at one of the rooms and our bathroom sewage was clogged so we couldn't shower. When we notified the reception we was first offered to use the shower in the sauna but then denied because it was in use. We asked for a new room but didn't get one. After that, we where asked to use the staff bathroom in the cellar of the building. The day after when we asked for compensation we where met by an very arrogant staff member that said that they couldn't do anything and took our info so that we would be contacted a specific time. The manager never called the time we was promised so I had to call them myself in order to get ahold of a person in charge, we finally got a small shitty compensation after a long conversation over the phone and the manager was being a dick about it when we explained that we shovelled sewage water in the bathroom with drinking glasses to save their bedroom from flooding which would result in huge expenses for renovation of water damage. So if you are thinking about booking this hotel for a stay in Malmö, think again! TLDR; Clogged drain, shovelled shit water before sleep in the shower to save the hotel room, got a small shitty compensation from Per the manager. Don't stay here!

One star is generous!! For €300 euro a night??!! Outdated, weird old furniture. Nothing like the quality of other hotels in this neighborhood. Very disappointing. Like a bad motel 6
