Best Western Plus Hôtel d'Europe et d'Angleterre

A really great hotel in a perfect location—close to the centre of town and just a short walk across the river to Saint Laurent. We stayed in a standard room, which wasn’t huge but was more than spacious enough for the two of us and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great mix of French pastries, fresh fruit, cheeses, and bread, plus hot options like eggs, bacon, sausages, and hash browns. Filter coffee and juices were also available—everything we needed to start the day right. The staff recommended a few restaurants and were happy to make a booking for us, the option we chose was excellent. A great hotel, ideal for a stay in Mâcon

My parents were there at 18 June 2025. when they checked out, the manager told them, that the deposit of 150 euros would be put on their account the same evening. nothing, we called a few times and they said the money was already transferred and would send us an email of the transfer. they never did and still don't have the deposit back of 150 euros. so no I don't like the way they are handling this. so no I will not go back to this hotel, and will email booking.com who we can get our money back.

This is an absolutely wonderful hotel! The staff are helpful and nice. The breakfast is AMAZING. Try the local yoghurts and fruit compotes. They offer parking, but make sure to book ahead and be prepared to squeeze into small spaces.

Nice hotel, good parking, wonderful bed. Friendly young staff at reception who made us feel welcome. Stayed here for the third time, and that is why we took a room with street/river view - we prefer this over the indoor patio view whe had the first time. Very nice ancient building, and absolute quiet rooms - not evident in an old hotel. One remark though: the customer service could excel when you see the client as someone you’d like to help instead of someone who might not follow your rules correctly - when I say I will arrive at 12, you emphasise that the room is only available at 15h. You could say it positively, that we can already drop our baggage and that we can enter before when the room is ready, but that you can make no promise. Same thing, different approach in communication. When we ask for a wine glass, it feels strange that you ask us for 6 euro for the use of the empty glass while we are paying for an executive room. These are management issues that could easily be resolved if you see the customer in a different way. Droit de bouchon is logic in restaurants, not in fine hotel rooms. When you bring your bottle to a bar, ask to open it as well as glasses, this is a service that is chargeable, regardless of the room in which you stayed. Our corkage fee is €6, I would be curious to know what you would have been offered in a bar or restaurant if you requested the same service. We are sorry if this proposal did not appeal to you and we still hope that this will not be the only memory of your stay in Mâcon! Votre explication s'applique évidemment aux restaurants et aux bars, mais pas aux chambres d'hôtel !

Beautiful place, very friendly and helpful staff, great bed and a wonderful breakfast. Easy to find and nicely located on the Saone River banks. Very easy access to the highways surrounding Macon. I would highly recommend a stay at this remarkable hotel!

This was my second visit and I enjoyed it very much. I don't agree with the comments on breakfast, yes it's not a 5 star holiday hotel standard for sure but good enough to make yourself fully and prepare for the upcoming day. Location was close by to center and you can reach everywhere with a 10 min walk distance max. I also loved the gesture of putting a book on my room on my mother tongue. Thanks for that. Staff is very friendly and supportive. I keep recommending this hotel to my colleagues and I will keep staying here on my upcoming visits

Very expensive compared to the service they provide, there is no car parking, no gym , breakfast is limited, no view, rooms are very small. The lady supervising the breakfast was a little bit rude when I took a disposable cup for coffee, and she was asking me to take her permission first although the cups are not hidden, also she was expecting me to wait for her where she was not available around to ask her permission to start serving myself the breakfast

If you desire a hotel with charm and character, this is a good choice. The reception area is lovely and the walking access to the city is very good. The rooms are dated as one would expect, but they are quite acceptable. Suggest getting a room on the courtyard for more quiet, which allows for you to open windows at night. A fine morning breakfast is provided also. This is the preferred choice for myself and my colleagues when traveling to Macon.

Great hotel, very friendly and helpfull staff. The breakfast is a fantastic buffet with fresh fruits,cheese and classics like bacon and eggs. The lobby is awesome: a great design, a piano for guests to play on and ofcourse a small bar for refreshments. It is a peaceful place to spend your time and read a newspaper. Also for those who want to catch them all: there are tons of pokéstops nearby :D. The rooms are as you would expect from a hotel like this and offer a rain shower, normal shower or a bath in certain rooms. There is a tv with connection to French,English and German channels.
