Staying in Truckee means you pay a premium for any room, which we accept. The Best Western isn’t the best in town, but it’s not the worst. But our experience was highly disappointing.||The location is perfect. It’s right off the freeway and accessible to local stores, eateries, bars, and other points of interest.||Check-in was easy, and the lobby was nice. The young lady, Savanna, was also very friendly and provided all the necessary information one might need (or ask about).||Our room (#148) was located next to the first-floor bathrooms and the office center. Upon entry, the room was what we expected. We had plenty of towels and the necessary toiletries. The motion-activated fan was annoying, but I guess having a bathroom fan is better than not having one at all.||Unfortunately, the room had a musty smell, which wasn’t too bad at first.||We had an event to go to, so we came back later that night and headed to the pool. The pool was advertised as heated, but it wasn’t. The water was cold. The Jacuzzi filter looked a little dirty, too.||After swimming and showering, we settled in and prepared for bed. It was obvious that the musty smell was pet urine. The cool air (from the air conditioning) seemed to cover it up, but when the air was off, it was pungent. We own a dog (that we didn’t bring) and support dog-friendly businesses, but it’s clear the rug hasn’t been properly cleaned in a long time.||The buffet breakfast is good -- real eggs and bacon made fresh. A hearty selection of breakfast options is available for those looking to eat healthy or indulge a little on vacation. The woman serving the food was lovely to my family and the patrons coming in; there was a wave of people. However, unlike most places that serve a buffet breakfast, it seemed the food was always plentiful.||When we checked out, I told the front desk person, and she said she’d note my response for the manager. I hope the issue is rectified.

I am truly disappointed with the service I received during my recent stay at the Best Western Plus in Truckee. I had certain expectations for a Best Western, and unfortunately, they were not met. From the moment I arrived, there was a noticeable lack of basic hospitality; no one offered to assist with our luggage. Throughout our stay, the hot tub was frequently out of order, and we were never notified of this in advance. The most frustrating issue, however, was the complete lack of housekeeping. Despite repeatedly leaving the "service" door card out – and even finding it flipped over to indicate a cleaning request – our room was never serviced. I was forced to take out my own garbage and retrieve fresh towels and essentials from the front desk. When I brought these issues to the attention of the staff, I was assured they would be resolved, but nothing changed. This level of neglect is simply unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber.

Google
Do not recommend at this time. I specifically booked this hotel over other ones so I could use the hot tub to help with my sciatica. However the hot tub is not in service, which I understand happens but at least disclose it at the time of making the reservation or at the very least at check-in so I don't have to find out when I am in my suit ready to get into the hot tub. I was then told that the pool was heated higher to make for it. Sorry, but not quite the same thing. Would have loved to cancel for the next night but of course due to their cancellation policies was told I it was too late to get a refund. Side note, when I made the complaint to hotels.com about this they assured me I would get a refund, but apparently that was not the case, so don't book via hotels.com. EDIT: The manager has reached out to me and told me they would honor my refund. I really appreciate being heard. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and have always had a good experience so that is why I was surprised by my last visit, along with the much higher rates (but everything is getting more expensive these days I guess). But they do have one of the nicer hot tubs in the area and now that it is back in service I will be back!

Great place to catch up on much needs rest. Front desk was polite and thanked us for staying. Rooms are very nice and clean. Pool and hot tub area is clean and well maintained. Breakfast “crew” is amazing, upbeat and polite!!

We wanted to have a snow day after Christmas and looked into accommodations a couple weeks before. This hotel still had rooms and good reviews plus a free breakfast so we booked it. All the staff were very helpful and polite. The facilities were pleasant. The morning omelettes were fantastic. The bathroom wasn’t perfectly clean but clean to our satisfaction. I would definitely stay here again.

Google
Great experience. Up to date TV, nice room, good wifi, very dog friendly. Oh and free cookies. Let me say that again. Free cookies 🍪. There are also some restaurants in the adjoining parking lot and EV Chargers. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Pay to park sucks though. So include an extra $10 per night for that. :( Still would stay here again.

Google
Expensive room rate given experience. Higher rate probably due to Truckee area lacking quality lodging at reasonable rates. Desk staff unfriendly. Interior decor dated and worn. Stale odor probably from old carpet? Bathroom door hung so it always closed. The motion detected bathroom fan was annoying. Heated pool and hot tub were open in April. Free Coffee good but breakfast food was average to poor.

Google
I will give you the quick recap of a stay here. You will have to beg for housekeeping in your room, you will put a tag on your door asking for it and the staff will flip it to privacy, the hotel is so dirty it looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in months (which will most likely affect allergies and asthma), the staff are a bunch of airheads, the pool and hottub seem like they are never skimmed or cleaned and when you are getting ready to go in the maintaining man comes by and tells you he is closing the hot tub. There are mouse traps everywhere outside by the perimeter of the property, gross! In the pool area the was wet towels left in the corner for days (gross!). And lastly their free breakfast consists of powdered eggs and leather-cardboard like potatoes and sausage that I wouldnt feed rodants! This was legitimately the worst hotel I have ever stayed in wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. One star 🌟 is wayyy to much for this bottom feeding hotel.

Yelp
I recently stayed at Best Western Truckee and had a very disappointing experience. I specifically chose this hotel because they advertised a working hot tub and pool, which were key reasons for my stay. Before my arrival, I called the hotel to confirm that both amenities were functional, and I was assured that they were. However, when I arrived, I found that both the hot tub and pool were out of service. When I raised this issue with the staff, they apologized and promised me a $50 gift card as compensation. Unfortunately, the gift card they provided never worked because they didn't share the necessary PIN to activate it. Overall, I feel misled by this hotel. The experience was frustrating, and the service did not live up to what was promised. I would not recommend staying at Best Western Truckee, especially if you're expecting the amenities they advertise or any resolution to service issues.

Yelp
Very pleased with this Best Western location in Truckee. The pool was heated and we had it pretty much to ourselves the whole visit! Rooms are clean. Cleaning staff were super friendly and the gals at the front desk were really nice. Ellen checked us in and she was wonderful. Will definitely be back to stay again for a day of hiking and relaxing!! Just to note- it was a quiet property. No smells in the room. Also, I see reviews of people upset about the price- that's because this area is expensive. No way around it unless you want to camp! Especially during high season (winter) because it's close to a couple ski resorts. If you want to stay in Truckee, it's going to be pricey no matter where you book! This place is great and would recommend it! Breakfast was delicious!

Yelp
UPSIDE: Super nice staff, comfortable beds and rooms. I had a duplicate reservation that didn't get canceled and they were cool about just canceling it on the spot. DOWNSIDE: They use the horrible "smoke eliminator" spray in the rooms. I don't think they realize that it accumulates and leaves chemicals everywhere that build up over each time they spray. I had to open the windows and let the 90 degree heat in to air my room out every day. I do have a sensitive nose, but this stuff is over the top. Oh yeah, and I went to breakfast for a breakfast burrito this morning and asked for it. The woman behind the counter asked, "DID YOU READ THE SIGN?" which said "No Burritos Today." I thought she could have been a little more courteous about it.

Heather M.

Yelp
We love this place!!! Cookies at checkin... hot coco and coffee throughout the day. Rooms are clean and efficient (hot water could have been warmer this time). Rooms have fridge and microwave. We love the hot tub after skiing. The best thing is the breakfast!! Waffles, crepes, eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereals, etc the best biscuits and gravy and breakfast burritos!!

Yelp
We stayed here this past weekend from Thursday through Sunday and for what it was, I have to give it 5 stars. It's not the fanciest hotel you'll ever stay in but it provided a comfortable room with plenty of parking each time we would get back to turn in for the night. Sure, it could use a lot of updating with the dark interiors and dated looking decor but I really couldn't complain because it was after all the Best Western. You get what you pay for. Here are the reasons I give this place 5 stars: *Free breakfast in the mornings included with the cost of the room rate: Breakfast included a waffle station with batter you could pour into the waffle makers. I only get to indulge in freshly made waffles when I stay in hotels so we all had to take advantage. The toppings included syrup + sprinkles (nice touch for all the kids) + chocolate sauce and even strawberry jam in a squeeze bottle. Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits + gravy, and hash browns filled up the hot stations of food buffet style. If hot food isn't your thing, they had several types of toast including bagels, wheat bread + white bread and a toaster. If you wanted to take any of this stuff to go, all of the breads were packaged individually in plastic. They also had granola bars, individually packed mini muffins, fresh fruit and bananas. Fresh coffee was plentiful with light, medium and dark roasts. Sweetened creamers in different flavors were provided as well. They also didn't forget about the folks that do decaf (me). *The bathroom in the room had a light sensor for when you had to go in the middle of the night. Much appreciated because I'm going to the bathroom all the time. The light wasn't intrusively bright so it didn't disturb anyone else in the room. *Heated pool + Jacuzzi-- While the heat in the pool really wasn't at all necessary because we were here in the summer, I could understand why they would have it that way for guests in the wintertime. *We couldn't ever hear the guests in the rooms on either side of us. The only time we could hear anyone was when they would pass through in the halls. This was much appreciated because I can't tell you how many times I've stayed in really nice hotels yet you could hear the people on the other side of you. That could get awkward at times if you get what I mean. On another note we didn't have daily housekeeping here. Not sure if they are doing this because of Covid protocols but we also didn't mind this. When we needed fresh towels or toiletries we were able to flag down the housekeepers in the halls. Easy.

Yelp
Linens were filthy, hair found on the comforter and sheets, makeup smeared on comforters, potential biohazard body fluids smeared on the comforter, and a dead silverfish between the sheets and mattress. The dirty bathroom was the icing on the cake along with a front desk clerk that doesn't even give a crap about customer service. This room was probably rented by the hour before we arrived. Totally gross! Would not recommend.

Yelp
Checked in on 9/22/2024 around 5 PM. Inexperienced employee had a problem with the computer and needed help for my check-in which took at least 15 minutes! The bar and restaurant were closed. So much for the advertised amenities. Had to find a nearby eatery. BTW - the walking distance restaurants were jammed packed with NFL football patrons. I drove to a nearby golf course for dinner. The hallway doors constantly slamming shut all night. This place is on its last leg.

Read more on Tripadvisor Christopher Chursin1/5a week ago on  Google I will start with we were told we could use the pool for a rehearsal dinner for my wedding that was happening saturday. I had a good amount of family staying at this hotel. Just before arriving an email was sent stating that now the pool was closed the whole month of september! Was told they would get with a neighboring hotel to see if we could use a different pool. Nothing came of that of course. We were also told we would not be charged for parking for the inconvenience. Yet was still charged for the parking. Also my parents were charged for a pet fee. Yet they brought no pets! Now when I got there thursday September 5th 2024 I made two seperate stays because i didn't expect to be there thursday. I was staying until monday. The 5th to the 9th of this month. I checked into my room around 4 pm. My room smelled of urine probably from a dog and the t.v. did not work constant pixel issues. I had to deal with two new staff members who were nice but no clue what to do because there was no manager in sight. Ben the manager was the only good thing and kept it professional the next day, comping my room for the first day. It was one thing after another with this hotel. My parents room smelled like smoke and the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag. I also had to check out Friday morning and check back in that afternoon because they wouldn't just keep me in the same room for the weekend. Therefore having to pack all my things that morning and unpack them again in the afternoon. Hands down would not reccommend this terribly ran hotel to anyone!

Yelp
Stayed during the pandemic, after hotels reopened again in 2021. This hotel is close to a couple of the ski resorts (Boreal & Soda Springs). Check in was easy enough, showed our ID and got a key. Room was very comfy. Feather comforter I think? Kept us very warm at night. Shower water pressure is great, you'll certainly be clean. There is a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The continental breakfast is different now. You go downstairs to grab your items from a fridge, and take them back up to your room to reheat. I would stay here again if in the area.

Julianne R.

Yelp
Overall we enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean, it's in a convenient location close to Northstar and there's plenty of parking. I was also impressed with all the options at the continental breakfast. The only downside was how overpriced it was (more than $400 a night) -- I understand it's ski season and Truckee hotel prices are high, but this is generally a hotel chain that's known for being more affordable. It ultimately wasn't worth the price for the otherwise basic room, but I'd stay here again at a more reasonable rate.

Yelp
I found myself in Truckee in a home without wifi and had an important meeting for which I had to find a private setting with strong wifi. My family was at the Best Western Truckee, 20+ years ago and thought maybe they can help. Ben the manager set me up in a utility room with strong wifi. Perfect for what I needed and provided without any charge. It speaks a lot about Ben and the entire approach they have to serving customers. Deep thanks for your kindness and understanding.

Yelp
We come up to Truckee fairly often, and this time decided to step up from the usual motel. Keep in mind that at certain times, rooms will be very expensive at Truckee. Well, this was one of those times. The price can vary a lot based on the day of the week. For us, Saturday night was very expensive, but Sunday night not so much. Our room was clean, modern, and properly stocked with towels. Nothing spectacular, but attractively setup. Of course, the hotel has the main breakfast dining room, but also a few other rooms. Right off the breakfast room, is a little nook where you can hide and read the newspaper. Also down the hall is a lounge overlooking the swimming pool. Very pleasant! I was pleasantly surprised by the expansive breakfast buffet. Besides the usual waffle makers, pastries, and fruit, they had quite a large selection of traditional breakfast items, including hot omelettes, sausage and potatoes. They also include a healthy option with turkey bacon. There are plenty of free Wall Street Journal newspapers on the fireplace hearth in the breakfast room. There is a small exercise room-- pretty much what you would expect, with newer looking equipment. There was also free WiFi which works very well. I did an internet speed test and I got over 17 megabits per second. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, especially the wonderful people in The breakfast dining room. So overall, a very good visit! Definitely a step up from a motel. Well, I guess it was also a step up in price, but I thought it was worth it. This is now our go-to place when visiting in Truckee.

Johny Y.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience. To start, Ethan and Lisa greeted me at the door and was extremely polite to me and my family. All accommodations and requests were met beyond expectations! Breakfast was great on Tuesday. All of the employees were extremely nice as well during my stay. I recommend anyone and everyone to stay here if you are in the area!

Bonnie M.

Yelp
We recently stayed here for three days. The room was very nice, and we especially liked the complimentary breakfast that was just exceptional. The selection of food was way better than the average hotel and the woman in charge was an excellent baker and cook. It was also in walking distance to some nice places to eat. Bonnie M.

Esam M.

Yelp
This place has it all - nice pool and hot tub for apres ski, and one of the best breakfast spreads that you can tuck in for a full day of skiing. We didn't need any lunch after that, just dinner. They always have hot coffee and hot chocolate with whip as a bonus. The cook, Jill, does everything from her heart and spreads positivity and care in this place. Other employees are good as well, she's just outstanding. Four stars only because the decor is outdated, treadmill was out of service and the housekeeping service is sparse. Definitely recommend as a place to stay if you're out here to ski.

JD I.

Yelp
Nice hotel. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was decent. My only complains were the unbelievably loud plumbing which sounded like a jet taking off when the room next door turned their bath/shower on and the people smoking right on the hotel patio by the entrance. I know this isn't California, but my insane sense of entitlement causes me to be unreasonable when it comes to me and my kid breathing second hand smoke every time we walk in and out of the building.

Linda S.

Yelp
The WiFi is slow and kicks you off, the hallways have many soft spots needing addressed as well as a low soft spot in the room. Ankle twisters! There are several great eateries close by.

Adam C.

Yelp
The breakfast here is a large step above a lot of the breakfasts seen at other chains. The menu changes a little on a day to day basis. They sometimes offer breakfast burritos to go. The rooms were on par with other chains. I could sleep and that's really all that matters

Layne P.

Yelp
This Roach Hotel doesn't offer house keeping until after your 3rd day of stay. It has dirt and garbage in the hallway and garbage in the parking lot.

Todd C.

Yelp
This place exceeded all expectations-- fantastic!! I was expecting some generic blasé chain motel. Instead, it feels like an expensive mountain lodge. It's been beautifully conceived and designed from the moment you enter the lobby to the photos on the wall to your room. They did everything right here. And the price was amazing. $200 for two queen size beds on a Wednesday night in February. Classy, mountains, super clean and elegant. YES!!!

Firefighter B.

Yelp
Really nice rooms. Comfortable and roomy. Check out us at 11 am but house keeping started knocking at 9 am to see if you were out yet. Then again at 10 am. Kind of annoying.

Lisa M.

Yelp
For two hundred bucks a night near Tahoe, this would have been fine. But they robbed us, charging double the going rate. This place is a complete dive - for more than $400 a night one might expect decent lighting - but not even a pen or paper. Seriously. Furthermore, the going rate right now for this hotel is actually only $200.00, but I didn't think to check prior to 24 hours in advance, cancel and rebook. Granted, I'm the idiot who booked it in the first place thinking it might be worth it, but what a total dump. Dark tiny room that smells bad. It seems reasonably clean, but who can tell. I usually like best westerns but I feel totally cheated. I'll never stay here again.

Ivy S.

Yelp
I've been a loyal Best Western user for years and years. When we planned our spur of the moment trip to Truckee I immediately found a room at Best Western. They have a fun little front patio area with a fireplace. We sat outside in the evening and enjoyed the mountain air. I cant say enough about the accommodations. The room was very spacious and the shower was ginormous! The bed was super comfortable. I didn't realize they had a heated pool, otherwise I would have brought my suit to take dip. Next time! The morning breakfast selection was waaay better than expected. They had refried beans and biscuits and gravy. Did they expect me to be staying here or what? Ill never pass up beans and gravy. No, I don't mix them. I just like them... a lot. My one complaint is that the location is pretty far from well everything. We wanted to go get some beer and had to book an Uber to take us to 7-11 and back. Not the most convenient. There is not really anything within walking distance. We had a great weekend stay. If you become obsessed with the Donner Party story like I did and want to come to Truckee to explore your historical addictions then by all means book a room. Don't live like the Donner's. Enjoy yourself.

Glenn M.

Yelp
Great place to stay! Stayed here last Sunday and Monday nights with my family. This is a very nice place to stay when in Truckee or in the area. My family and I agreed that this is a very nice place stay. Quiet and very clean. Plus the breakfast was very delicious as well. Scrambled eggs, bacon (turkey and pork), country potatoes (russets and sweet potatoes) and biscuits and gravy. Plus the other usual items waffles, cereals and other assorted goodies. The people that work here are also very friendly and extremely helpful! Great place to stay! The next time we are in Truckee, we will be staying here!

Allen Y.

Yelp
We arrived here with a reservation on Hotel.com and the person at the front desk in the midst of playing a video game could not help us. Probably not his fault but he made sure to kick us out of the lobby pretty quick.

Kelly C.

Yelp
We were recently snowed in during the Christmas storm. We asked our current resort if we could extend our stay. They reluctantly said yes for $1k a night. We called the best western and they returned our call and said they have a room for us. They also gave us a special lower rate due to being stranded. We stayed 3 extra days to avoid unsafe road conditions. Lisa the owner made us feel at home and didn't over charge due to our unexpected circumstances. I will be back to this cozy, family orientated hotel! I highly recommend staying here - and there is great sushi and a brewery right next door.

Dewey C.

Yelp
We went here after our Airbnb host cancelled last minute. The pros: *dog friendly *easy check-in process (5 minutes flat) *the staff is friendly The cons: *we were by an entrance door and heard every person coming and going all night *the shower water was lukewarm

Kevin A.

Yelp
We have stayed here a few times and never had any issues. I recently stayed for work and it was great. Great location and close to some good restaurants.

Yelp
While things are starting to open back up, I had to come out here for work. My client booked me a room here for the the night. This week Gov Newson made a state wide order that all people and businesses in California need to have masks on inside. Outside if a 6 feet distance is not doable. As a business owner myself I am appalled they are not following health and safety guidelines. The male receptionist and what looked like the manager were both not wearing masks at the front. Half of the janitors I pass also not wearing masks. Guests are not being told to have masks in the lobby either. I understand that they may have few cases here. But as they are seeing people like me who are coming for work from areas with many cases are here around them and their other guests. Thankfully I'm smart enough to bring masks and wear it. Really disappointed in the lack of professionalism in that area. I gave two stars because the room itself was fine when we walked in. During the night it was quiet. There were pink and brown stains on the inside of the comforter. the light by the bed did not work and was plugged in. In the morning there was no hot water for a shower either. If you need to stay at a hotel and have concerns about quality of health and safety during the Covid pandemic, as well as management following those rules, this might not be the place for you. The manager said that all of the employees were made to wear masks unless they had a health exemptions, but I'm calling BS on that since there must have been many unwell employees there not to mention almost every guest. I believe that they are lying to get over on the rules and will be contacting state officials. Will not stay there again.

Alan H.

Yelp
Terrible hotel. Smells like pee everywhere, as it is dog friendly. I have a dog, but I would not stay here with my dog. Can't open windows, so you are trapped in a smelly room without fresh air. Interior is dated and the rooms facing the pool, which is half of all rooms, are noisy. When I asked if I can have a room where I can open the window, the staff was rude and told me they could give me a fan. If I could give zero stars on this review I would!

Miok C.

Yelp
Back again . Same hotel and same room . This time no carpet smell and the room was very clean. Still with good service and the bed was very comfy this time. Free breakfast, heated pool , gym, free parking, comfy bed and good customer service. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommended it.

John M.

Yelp
Stayed here 12/21/2019 and 12/22 with five people in a two queen room (shoosh don't tell anyone). I was really surprised at how nice this place is. First, the staff is friendly, prompt, and professional. The entire hotel must have had a full make over in the last year or two. The room was nicely decorated with recent and modern touches, such as a full rack of coat hangers across next to the door. Hot showers at any hour. There was a microwave, refrigerator (both new), large closet, and TV. The beds were very comfortable and firm. The room was warm and well insulated. The pool and fire pits are nice features. The morning breakfast has many options (although the eggs are scrambles are powdered but hey it's free and all you need is full for skiing right?)... The hotel is also next to some good restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel for your next ski trip.

Yelp
You know, for $400+/night I expected a lot more. The curb appeal is great but it goes down hill from there. My gripes: 1) No USB chargers in a room, only standard wall outlets. We're in the 2020's folks, buy some lamps w/ integrated USB, update your wall outlets for integrated USB, etc. 2) We had just finished a backpacking trip and had no AC adapters for our phones, only cords. When I asked the front desk the girl behind the desk basically just shrugged her shoulders (even though I told her it was our only way to communicate, our phones were nearly dead and it was very important to us). Said she had no access to lost and found (trust issue w/ management??), and the only one she could find is her managers (this was an opportunity to lend it to me and then tell her manager about how she went above and beyond to help a customer). And if not, they should have logged it as an issue w/ my room and the next day come up w/ a solution. I should have had a message waiting for me that they found one and had it at the desk waiting for me. 3) Breakfast was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. Barely edible. California opened up weeks ago and it was scheduled for over a month. Get some tables in the dining room so people don't have to stand and provide a reasonable breakfast. I mean, even their cold cereal selection was pathetic!!! Not even the ubiquitous waffle machine!!! Totally pathetic. If this were a $120/night room, okay that's fine. But it isn't and management needs to work on providing some value to their guests.

Yelp
Definitely staying here again!! Front desk reception is great (cookies come out around 12-1 and is nice to see upon checkin!), checkin process was seamless, and I even signed up for their rewards program easily by just providing my email. Rooms are standard size with luxurious beds! It's like sleeping in a cloud . Clean - housekeeping does an amazing job. Bathroom was spotless, shower worked great. FRIDGE AND MICROWAVE in our room, which I appreciate!! But not as badly needed since there's FREE BREAKFAST. Scrambled eggs-both with and without ham, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, 3 cereals, oatmeal, oatmeal toppings, make-your-own-waffles... It was crowded at 7am but it was a friendly crowd. No seating available but no worries, you can eat anywhere else in the hotel (lobby, your room). The chefs behind the counters not only cooked delicious food but gave smiles, which just makes the experience and our stay much better! Was able to request a late checkout quickly and the person I spoke to on the phone was friendly. We needed help with our luggage for checkout and we were able to easily request help from the bell hop service. Parking was easy - I like how there's a corner entrance for the rooms in the 118 area. While we were on the ground floor and could hear footsteps above us, we were still able to get a good nights sleep. Curtains block out the sunlight, which makes sleeping in easy to do! Hooks near the door to hang skis, but unfortunately could hold boards (or I couldn't figure out how to?) Can't emphasize enough how awesome the front desk staff are, both the woman who checked us in and the guy we saw the next day. Excellent excellent!! Another perk: amazing restaurants and bars across the street and even a couple buildings down Brockway street. Not sure if I'd pay the peak season rate of $300+, but if they had a good rate available (~$150max), I'd plan a snow trip around that!

Yelp
We found this to be a good budget hotel. Stayed here two nights in February. The pros: Great full breakfast with a rotating menu. We were there for a Denver omelet, and scrambled eggs with turkey sausage. Also included is coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, pastries, bacon, potatoes, toast, muffins, and a self serve waffle iron. Made breakfast quick, easy, and filling. The location is also nice. Easy to get to from the freeway. Fairly close to downtown. And right next to Fiftyfifty Brewing. Staff was friendly, beds were comfortable, hot tub was large. Cons: My final price was different than what was originally booked. This is my biggest con. It was only off by $1, but it makes me wonder. If this is a pattern with everyone, that $1 can quickly become hundreds of dollars. I was told it was the taxes that caused the price difference. I showed my booking to the staff, specifically where it stated the taxes were included. I was not given further explanation. I paid it, since it was such a small difference, but like I said, if this is an ongoing issue, it's a deceptive way to make extra money. The parking lot is not lit. Definitely don't leave anything in your car overnight because of this. The hot tub, while large, was only lukewarm. It was brought to the attention of the staff, but the next night, it was the same temp. Overall, good budget friendly place that I would return to. Nothing fancy, but functional and comfortable.

Yelp
Ok. So the staff are competent...as they should be. What kills me is that ALL winter you have advertised a pool and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi has been out of operation for the six weeks that covered the time of our two visits. And the pool? 70-80F. In the winter? By definition we are skiing during the day so it's cold at night when we want to use the facilities. The front desk said people had been using it. Right. I'm sure. This is bullshit and you know it. WHEN LODGING OFFER HEATED POOLS AT A SKI RESORT, THEY KEEP IT AT 90F+. IT'S NOT REALLY DEBATABLE. QUIT YOUR FALSE ADVERTISING. FIX YOUR FUCKING POOL OR QUIT ADVERTISING IT'S AVAILABLE.

Yelp
Right after my last review complaining of the lack of connectivity to the TV set to my computer cause there was no access on the remote to the INPUT ports of the TV, the general manager contacted me to tell me that despite what I was told by the front desk at the time, they do have the old remotes available if requested. These remotes will allow access to the INPUT choices on the TV. Since this was a deal breaker for me as to if I'd ever stay here again, I've changed my mind on this issue and added another star to the rating. I'll stay here again as the location can't be beat for a nice place to stay in Truckee. I'll be able to stream Netflix on the TV next time! It's good the management is on top of the reviews and customers concerns.

Yelp
this location is really outdated and when we got there. the 2 stars is for the accommodation for dog friendliness. the hallway smells like cigarettes even though it says smoke free. we have never stayed at a best western hopefully this one is not the standard of all best western

Yelp
This place is a solid, great value hotel. Beds are comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows, and the room and bathroom were very clean. Great service at check-in, free parking, and free breakfast in the lobby. Ten to fifteen minute drive to King's Beach, five minute (if that) drive to central Truckee, which has a lot of cute shops, boutiques, museums, restaurants, and bars. BONUS STAR: they allow dogs, for only an additional $20 fee (which is beyond reasonable for the area). Booked this same day, and got a great deal. Will definitely return when in the area.

Yelp
Just OK, you can do better. We stayed here because they allow dogs. Breakfast was standard for a BW Heads up on 2 ISSUES Our room that was supposed to have 2 Queen beds was really 2 FULL beds. If you want a hot soak after skiing go elsewhere. The jacuzzi was cold and only 1/2 the jets worked. I told the front desk in the morning, and asked the maintenance person to look into it. The front desk staff was not in a good mood, but said she would tell maintenance. That evening the jacuzzi temp was just as cold. Noting was done

Yelp
I stayed here for New Years, while I was in town snowboarding. The hotel has comfy beds, with comfortable pillows. The price was a little high for a one night stay but, it was New Years so it's understood. The front desk offers a continental breakfast and free hot chocolate. I didn't care much for the food but the cocoa was good. The bathrooms were clean, and spacious. The lobbies were also clean. I did not appreciate someone barking dog since we were on the second floor, and were informed pets were only on the first floor. Nonetheless, I do recommend this place as it's located near Starbucks, Mc Donald's, Panda Express, etc (all places necessary for a family).

Yelp
My husband and I had an unpleasant night here. We received a free night from a promotion. However, after having to pay the taxes, the room was not free! Also, check in time was supposed to be 3 PM, however our room wasn't ready until 4 pm. After getting our rooms, we wanted to wash our hands after traveling, however there was no soap in the bathroom, so I had to track down a maid to get some soap. The king size bed was very uncomfortable and the place had the thinnest walls around! We were on the bottom floor, which was a mistake! The people above us had kids and they were running around till very early in the morning. I barely received any sleep! We will not be staying here again! The only positive thing was the cookies they gave you when you checked in.

Yelp
Made reservation for one night stay for three adults and two dogs. When we checked in we were charged an additional $60 for the dogs. Rooms are old and small. 2/3 of parking lot was blocked off including area near reception. Had to walk completely around hotel to check in and I have problems walking. No vending machines for drinks. Waited 10 minutes for clerk to come back to sell me a bottle of Pepsi. She said that will be $5.00!

Yelp
Really enjoyed a weekend stay here. The room was comfortable with lots of pillows on the bed. They have Tesla car charging stations which I thought was pretty unique. The complimentary breakfast was really good. My mom and I stayed here because we wanted to be close to Lake Tahoe. We were also close to Reno. Beautiful sites all around. My only complaint is after a long day of sightseeing I like to snuggle in and watch TV to relax. This Hotel didn't provide enough of a selection. But, it did ruin my stay. I will definitely go again. Stayed again May 2019 with my best friend. Room was nice a comfortable. Some construction improvements were being made. The channel selections were still a disappointment. Beautiful sites all around. Try their cute downtown area. Loved it unfortunately I discovered it on my way home.

Yelp
What are some basic hotel necessities? Clean bed sheets, warm room, and hot water right? We were relieved to get the last room at the Best Western after being trapped in Truckee by white out conditions and closed roads after a long day of snowboarding at Northstar. 4 guys in a single King bed room led to some sleeping challenges (2 on the bed, on the leather arm chair, and one of the floor.) Cot beds were long gone by the time we got there. A surprised awaited us in the bathroom though. I jump in and turn on the shower expecting a nice hot shower after being in the cold all day. Welp, no luck, what greeted me instead was bone chilling ice cold water, after waiting about 5 minutes hoping it would heat up, I gave up hope and took a quick cold shower. Needlessly to say it wasn't a pleasant experience when you factor in the $400+ last minute price tag we were paying. Checking in with the front desk, they said that since they were at full occupancy the water heaters can't keep up with demand for hot water. Heck for $30 bucks in a full occupancy motel in a 3rd world country I got myself a warm shower. Summary: If you like to pay a premium to take a cold shower at a clean hotel while in Truckee the Best Western is your go to spot.

Yelp
Clean and cozy! Ellen was kind and helpful! If you wanna catch good breakfast, go early before they run out. Beware though, you have to heat it up in a microwave in your room due to the pandemic... food wasn't very edible

Yelp
A big thanks to Ben who was very helpful in finding me the wedding group rate for Labor Day weekend. Ben was patient, courteous and made sure I received the blocked out price for my friend's son's wedding. Good morning breakfast (free), clean rooms and comfortable beds. Thanks again, Ben!

Yelp
In mid July 2020, I came up to Truckee after work in the Flatlands, in order to shorten my drive in the morning... This was a delightful, clean and well operated BW establishment. By the time I arrived, it was after 10:30 PM, but the Evening Manager Ellen was super friendly, helpful and followed all C-19 protocols to protect me and herself. She made sure that I take advantage of the Check in as a Best Western Rewards® Member to earn more Points and feel appreciated. She gave me easy directions to my Room down the hall...and when my Room had a neighbor with a super loud TV next door, I went back and explained to her it would be better if I could relocate. Ellen cheerfully found a nice Room further down the hall that was in a super quiet portion of the property. Everything worked well... My bed was clean + comfortable, the fridge was cold, my AM shower was hot, and the microwave did a great job to heat up the "Grab 'n Go" meals they keep in the former "Cafe" Big Fridge - all thanks to C-19 requirements. I took my banana + apple juice on the Road and I was off! Business or pleasure, I would stay here again... :o)

Yelp
We stayed here last night. This motel is very clean. Rooms are immaculate. Beds very comfortable. All staff friendly. Guy at front desk was efficient and helped us with dinner arrangements. WiFi free and pretty fast. Pool heated, but we did not use. Nicer than some of the big chain hotels and certainly not worse than the Hilton and Marriott hotels we have usually stayed in. Breakfast was better than most and they even made omelette to order. Kid and pet friendly. 10 min over the hill to Kings Beach and Lake Tahoe. Truckee is a fun little town. Photos of Lake Tahoe.
