I'm a die hard Hilton fan, and have been known to get grumpy when I can't get the hotel I want. The Hilton Garden Inn was full up, as it's parent's weekend at Penn State, so we opted for this hotel, and were pleasantly surprised. It's a fairly new property with nice amenities...swimming pool, fitness center and big rooms with comfortable beds. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the free breakfast is not too bad, especially this time of year, as they offer local peaches, apples and pears that are truly delicious. If you're familiar with Hilton's budget brand, Hampton Inn, this place reminds me of that. They're also making an attempt to save energy by installing these little key kiosks in each room. When you're in the room, you put your key in and can control the lights, TV and HVAC. Pull the key out and the little alarm goes off, and then everything shuts down, so when you're not in the room you can't waste electricity by leaving the lights/air conditioner/TV on. They'll give you 2 keys at the front desk, so on really hot/cold days, when you might want to have the temperature of the room kept constant, you can leave one in and control the air temperature. I like that they're making an attempt to save resources. Nice hotel at a great price.
