How to Spend 3 Days Traveling Route 66 in Missouri
"For a Springfield stay I appreciated the Historic Best Western Rail Haven’s quaint rooms and convenient location—it's an easy base with quick access to downtown and Cherry Street's shops and bars." - Matthew Kepnes
Pros:
- Relatively affordable in today’s inflated market.
- The woman who checked me in was genuinely friendly and helpful.
- The hotel has some history. Apparently, Elvis once stayed here, and it’s been around for ages.
Cons:
- Upon entering the room, I was hit with an overpowering stench of cleaning products. It quickly became clear this was a desperate attempt to mask a foul odor, best described as a mix of wet dog and body odor. The smell clung to my clothes even after I left.
- The bed’s mattress felt like a relic from Route 66’s glory days. It sagged miserably in the middle and desperately needs replacing.
- The hotel’s location at a noisy intersection made peace and quiet a distant dream.

We had a wonderful stay at Best Western on rt 66. The staff were friendly the rooms were clean. We didn't have a shower curtain but it worked out.. overall a basic good breakfast. Coffee was fresh and good. We got to see the room Elvis stayed in .. The grounds are big so we were able to take a nice walk around with our pup.

This charming roadside style motel is a gem and a lovely place to stay. Excellent customer service. The front desk staff was delightful. This place is old (part of the charm) but it's well kept and clean. Nothing beats being able to pull your car up to the door of the room and unload. The AC was cold and effective, great water pressure for the shower. Beds were comfy.

Old fashioned drive up motel where you park directly in front of your room. The staff was very friendly. The pool was half filled filled with dirty rain water. Maybe it was open during the summer travel season? Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of choices. Liked the vintage feel of the motel. It probably has a very interesting history, as shown in the many photos of its past posted in the rooms and lobby.

We loved staying here. They provided breakfast each morning. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Where there were problems they addressed them. I just wished they could make a good cup of coffee or provide a better machine in each room.

Overall good stay. Old school motel on Route 66. Antique automobiles around property as well as 1960s vintage gas pumps. Room very clean and bedding VERY comfortable. Seemed to be newish and high quality mattress. ||Parking area in front of room littered with many cigarette butts which was bit off-putting. Breakfast area very small and limited even for a BW. Could improve that. Reception guy had women’s nails glued on. Weird and off-putting to normal people. Area is a good location geographically but many hobos, hookers, and other drifter types roaming up and down street 24/7. Felt safe but bit unsettling. The city should remedy this issue.

Great hotel with very courteous and helpful staff. Rooms were clean and had all the amenities. Breakfast had fresh food and plenty of options. You can park your car in front of your room and the parking lot is well lit and safe. Would recommend staying here.

This hotel was full of amenities! They have everything you need and then some. TV, microwave, iron, iron board, coffee maker, fridge, even a hair dryer. I can't say much for how they make up the bed, no comforter? The bed was comfortable though. The AC works great! Very friendly staff even late at night shift.
