The rooms have a lot of weird quirks. For starters, we checked in to dreadful news that we would not have air conditioning for our room on the 3rd floor. It was too hot to get a good sleep. The windows open wide but lack bug screens, so we had to choose between fresh air and a room full of insects. The room keys barely work; it’s the weirdest thing. We needed to get them recharged almost every time we wanted to re-enter our room (in spite of taking all the standard precautions to keep room keys working). One bed did not have clean sheets when we checked into the room. All that being said, the beds themselves are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are nice and spacious. The true appeal of this hotel lies in its location: it’s in a fantastic area a short walk away from a lot of great restaurants and attractions. The staff themselves are great and they did their best given the circumstances, but you can only play the cards you’re dealt. If they fix their air conditioning, room keys, and cleanliness concerns, it would be 4-5 stars for sure. Unfortunately, in its current state, I cannot give it a better rating than 2 stars. I suppose it did live up to its namesake however, as it did have me shaking my head and asking “Why?” on multiple occasions.

At check in we were informed that if we had "green cleaning" of the room we would receive free drinks in the bar. We ordered "green cleaning" but discovered that the only thing that was done was that the bed was made. We needed toiletpaper for example but that was not provided - and no free drinks. That´s perfectly fine but why boast about it at check-in. The room (and the hotel) was a bit worn done and our bathroom was damaged by moisture around all the walls, the sink was leaking and the floor under it was puddled. The floor in the shower had big cracks and the top surface of the floor was missing on several parts. The telephone in the room was stone dead. No connection at all. The room thermostat was out of order which made the room to cold. We also had drinks in the hotel bar. Both an Aperol Spritz and a Mojito tasted just plain water. This is not a 4-star hotel. Far from it. Really disappointed. By the way. When we checked in we were informed that the minibar was free of charge. That seemed really nice and a generous gesture, but the fact was that the minibar contained of just one bottle - filled with water...... Just one more thing. Who is the clever man (or woman) that installed the sliding door to the bathroom which make everything in the bathroom and everyone in it visible?

Hotel is in a good location close to the old town of Lille, although that does mean there can be some noise from the street outside. We found the staff to be really friendly and helpful which I liked. We were staying in a "Prestige" room but some of facilities were a bit less than Prestige. The shower tray was cracked and delaminating, the main door into the room was stiff and difficult to operate and the bathroom sink was backing up. We reported the sink problem (assumed nothing could be done regarding the door and shower tray) and this was fixed the same day. There were some nice touches; couple of complementary drinks in the mini bar and a complementary beer at check-in. I'm still fairly positive about this hotel mainly due to the friendly staff.

Fantastic stay! Perfect location in the heart of Lille. Great service, super clean room with all comforts, and an amazing breakfast. Even a handwritten welcome note in our room. Excellent value, highly recommended!

Spacious and clean room, with TV and coffee machine. Staff all polite with a good command of English. Close enough to the main attractions but far enough away not to be bothered by noise at unsociable hours. Would be happy to stay here again.

Had such a great stay! These guys really know how to treat their guests—everyone feels special. The staff is super friendly and professional. My room was amazing, and you can get a free drink for following their green policy, which was a nice touch. If you’re heading to Lille, this is the place to stay. Don’t even hesitate—it’s the best!

The airco in our room was broken. This was not mentioned to us. We found out when we returned to the hotel late at night. There was a big fan. Rotating hot air in the room. Windows could not be opened. It was very hot in the room. When we checked out and mentioned our complaint the lady said that she could not do anything for us since her manager was not in. She would contact us on Monday. We never heard back from the hotel…. Really bad experience.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Customer service is top notch, and the staff are super friendly. The rooms are abit old in terms of design and quality, but functional. There is a coffee machine in the room and a mini bar. The breakfast is ok but not amazing, considering the price they charge. The location is quite convenient and close to the old center and there are nice cafes and restaurants around.
