Excellent to go at 8am because it is empty. Alternatively Sunday it is packed with locals in beautiful church clothes. If you arrive at 2pm you will have toke to see everything but closes sharply at 5pm no exceptions. Be mindful in Christendom this is one of the holiest places far more Holy than many things in Rome says a Catholic!

Fantastic structure, it was the first stop in our visit to Lalibela and its gigantic walls and columns caused a memorable and possitive impression. The light is beautiful in the afternoon, making the stone change colors as the sun changes position.

The first and largest church on the tour. There is a fantastic 7 kg solid gold cross that is rarely brought out, it was stolen once. There are also the 'graves' of the patriarchs. Abraham, Jacob and Joseph. You can ask about how you can test whether you are with sin or not.

Lalibela is one of a must visit place when you visiting Ethiopia. One hour flight from Addis Ababa and it can be done on 24 hours trip. Bring Guide and prepare USD 50 for the entrance fee. It's worth to visit for lifetime experience.
