My family and I recently returned from a wonderful 4-night stay at Bethel Pastures Farm Bed and Breakfast. It is set in a stunning spot located in the foothills of the Catskills where you wake up to the sounds of roosters crowing and sheep bleating. From even before we arrived, the hosts, Rochelle and Mark, contacted us to learn our names and offer us a warm welcome. Mark met us upon arriving to show us to our cabin and explain how everything (such as the toilet, outdoor shower and battery for light and charging items since there is no electricity in the cabins) worked. We stayed in the Cabin With A View and the name did not disappoint! We woke up to some incredible sunrises over the surrounding hills! The cabin was cozy and clean with a queen bed upon entering and two twin beds in the loft for our kids. The outdoor kitchen comes fully stocked with essentials for making your own meals. We enjoyed cooking breakfast with complimentary fresh eggs from the farm’s chickens and vegetables and herbs from the hosts’ garden.
The hosts are so helpful in giving you information on all there is to do in the area! On the farm itself, we enjoyed feeding the sheep, chickens and Kryptonite (the alpaca), meeting the friendly dogs and cats and walking on the bucolic trails just steps away from the cabins. In the area, we rented Kayaks at Lake Superior State Park, visited The Museum at Bethel Woods (site of Woodstock), hiked to nearby mountain views and waterfalls, tubed down the Delaware River with Lander’s River Trips and shopped and ate in Jeffersonville and other nearby picturesque and charming towns.
Our kids are technically adults at 20 and 18 years old and we do not get to spend as much time with them as when they were young, so our time together here was priceless. We did not completely disconnect from our devices as the cell phone signal at the cabin was excellent, but we did cut back to enjoy each other’s company and conversation while sitting around our nightly campfires (with wood provided) and gazing up at a sky full of stars.
Rochelle and Mark are friendly, warm and accommodating. They really did go above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed to make our stay all that we had hoped for and more.
P.S. For a special treat, stop by Meyers Century Farm just a few miles aways for freshly made ice cream and /or milk.
