How to Plan an Unforgettable Trip to Rome, According to Local Experts

"Every time I exit Termini Station, I sigh with comfort at the sight of this trusty four-star in a fascist-era Art Deco building." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Location is good, but be careful — there are a lot of pickpockets in this area. The security guards are doing a great job and I felt safe throughout my stay. However, the reception and some staff do not give a welcoming attitude. It felt like guests were not really welcomed, as most of the staff looked busy and did not smile. The room was clean and housekeeping did their job well. Service: 2/5 ⭐ Room Cleanliness: 5/5 ⭐ Safety: 5/5 ⭐

The hotel is still with an old fashion style, like in the 70s or 80s, nevertheless it is clean but for a 4-star hotel I would expect more renovations. One has to say that it’s pretty common in Rome to find a hotel that are not fully renovated but still having an old feeling. The location is great, just a few steps from the station. The Hall and Breakfast area are very nice and the architecture of the 70’s is quite interesting. However the quality of the food (and drinks including the machine watered down cappuccino) at breakfast is not that great, especially considering that in Italy and in Rome you eat well with little money pretty much everywhere.

Rooms were beautiful & very clean. Breakfast was less than average - there is no kitchen in this hotel, so eggs were cold (shuttled in from across the street) & no other real substantial options (croissants, fruit). Front desk staff is terribly rude. My key card had to be reprogrammed several days in a row & they always acted like it was such an inconvenience for them! (No apology to me having to come down from floor 5 each time) … which by the way, the elevators are crazy-slow, so the stairs were preferred. Even more importantly, I had 3 pairs of shoes in a shopping bag that were just “GONE” from my room & nobody could find them. The front desk acted like I made it up or accidentally put them in the trash can! He weirdly pointed to a waste basket & asked me if I put them in there! Then again, never offered an apology or anything further!! I offered my contact info, thinking they might reach out with an apology or something later.. I’m sure you’ll be shocked to hear, I’ve not heard from them since checkout (2wks ago). I would definitely not recommend this hotel!

Stayed here 20 years ago after a recent remodel to their original elegance. Staying here now for 11 nights and they have again recently upgraded keeping with the original 1930's Art Deco style. We love the hotel and we love the convenience of being across the street from Termini, the main metro, train and bus station. We highly recommend. Last evening we dined in their sister hotel, the Massima, across the street. It was old fashion elegance and the service and food were super.

The hotel is a classic elegant hotel with a good location to Termini - central station. Booked a single room and was very tiny with a single bed cramped at the wall with wodden wall covers. Carpet in room which was not too clean and quite dusty. Bathroom was in comparison to bedroom very big. No walking shower but shower in a bath tub. Breakfast selection was ok as it was included in the price. Staff is friendly and helpful. Try the restaurant opposite the hotel. They have nice food if you don’t want to walk too far.

Location was right near the train station, which was good. Room was freezing every night. We complained after the first night but, although they said someone would look at it, no one fixed it. We had the thermostat set to max. 24c but we just froze every night. The outlet near the bed would not hold an electric plug. We had to use the one under the desk, which was difficult to reach, to charge our devices one at a time. Again mentioned it to the front desk but nothing happened. The breakfast was awful with runny eggs, coffee machine dished out bad coffee, and very little of the food tasted good. We ended up eating breakfast around the corner at Caffe Washington every day, even though breakfast was included in the room. We stayed at many hotels on our 35th anniversary trip and this was the worse one. I do not recommend it.

Stayed for 7 nights in september 2025, lovely hotel with comfortable, modern rooms and exceptionally helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and high quality. The rooftop bar had wonderful service and a great view of the city.

Well placed but VERY noisy. You can hear the neighbors flushing the toilets or taking their shower as well as the traffic (people in Rome like to honk, a lot). The bed was not comfortable, we slept badly. The room furniture was very old and damaged. The breakfast good but too basic for a 4 stars hôtel.
