Google
Looking for some good soul food and this was definitely the place. Food seasoned exceptionally well. Super busy when they opened at 11:00a on Sunday morning. They were out a bunch of stuff but what we got was really good! I highly recommend you check them out!

Google
I visited twice before writing this review. I also previously frequented both G's and Sac's Kitchen. I will say this place is the best of the three!!! What I loved... the catfish it is the best ever the outside is crispy the inside is soft and tender) absolute perfection, yams are just right, couple it with the cabbage and the cornbread. Then finish it off with red velvet cake or peach cobbler you can not go wrong. Pardon my pictures, I went on two different days. The first time I went, I had catfish, yams, and greens. I was really hungry by the time I made it home, and I started eating before I took the pics. So that is not how your food comes for the fish plate. What I liked was the chicken and dressing (it was a little salty but still edible). I had dressing at other places, and it just was not right. The flavor profile here is the closest I have found to my homemade dressing. The chicken was tender falling off the bone, and it was good. The greens were okay, but I prefer the cabbage. The things I tried but will not order again...the menu says banana pudding but I noticed the young lady wrote down cookies...so I am guessing it should be cookies with banana pudding drizzle or something but it was not banana pudding. I like baked mac n cheese, so this type is not my jam. Overall, this is my go-to Soul Food place. The food is good, the people are nice, did I mention the food is good? The icing on the cake is for the price you pay for your meal, it also includes a drink and dessert. You have to come check out Bettie Maes!!!

Google
This was my first visit to Betty Mae’s and it was a pleasant experience! The restaurant was clean, the customer service was good and the wait wasn’t long at all! You definitely have to come early if you want certain items though. They were out of pound cake and meatloaf. The chicken was fried and seasoned to perfection and the banana pudding and sweet potato pie were delicious! The only complaint that I have is that my black eyed peas were a bit salty and cold. I’d definitely dine here again!

Lee Elm

Google
Classic soul food restaurant that's generally ranked among the best in Alabama. I concur with those rankings. The smothered pork chop was terrific, and the two accompanying vegetables were just right. The meal included a dessert and a beverage. The pecan pie was perfect. All for $16.99.

Google
Oh my goodness this is soul food at its finest!!! I’m so glad we googled and found this spot on our travel north! The fried chicken is literally the best I’ve had! The collard greens were amazing as was the Mac and cheese, green beans, Cole slaw and potato salad! The cornbread was on point and the lemonade was fire! The ice tea was amazing and then we had dessert! The honeybun cake is nothing less than a home run as was the banana pudding! My lawd have mercy this place is beyond good!!!😊 🤤

Google
If you want to eat food like your grandma used to make, this is the spot.. I can't praise the chicken and collards highly enough. The yams were a little sweet for my personal preference, but don't you dare think I didn't eat all of them... I'm looking forward to getting back in there for lunch next time I'm on that side of town. These folks know what's up in a kitchen.

Google
The Holy Grail of southern food!! I can’t even begin to describe how good it is. I need more than 5 stars to rate it. I’ve been searching for this food for decades since I had to leave my southern home. I’ve traveled all over the south on vacations searching for the food I remember from my childhood and have never found anything as good as what I had growing up in Mississippi-UNTIL NOW!! And believe me, I have eaten at A LOT of southern restaurants. The fried chicken was the best I’ve ever had in my life. And I grew up mostly in Mississippi so that’s saying a lot! The turnip greens would make my southern grandmother jealous! Believe me, you won’t be disappointed in anything here!!

Google
always packed for a good reason. the staff members are always smiling and cracking jokes with each other, it’s a nice change of pace. the food is delicious. the only complaint i have is the desserts i’ve had aren’t the best. to be fair, every time i go they’ll only have one dessert available since the others sold out.

Yelp
Great food and service! The staff was great! I would recommend this place gladly. Why do I need 85 characters?

Mike A.

Yelp
If you're craving something unique, this place offers a delicious twist on traditional comfort food. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and packed with flavor, and the coleslaw on top added a nice crunch. The atmosphere was casual, and the staff was friendly, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. For anyone looking to try something new and tasty, this is a great option.

Antawan N.

Yelp
The food was very bland. The macaroni and cheese were watery and not cheesy. The yams tasted like they were out of a can and not sweet. The greens tasted like spinach. The bananas pudding taste like it was frozen and thawed out with a grits consistency.

Carla D.

Yelp
I feel horrible leaving the low stars but I have to be honest. Customer service 6 stars ' staff amazing, hard working and pleasant! However the food wasn't good. The food lacked flavor, greens were plain , fried foods had seasoning but something was missing. The lemonade was amazing as was the kool aide. Banana pudding was plain and had no flavor as was the peach cobbler. However my son loved it! He's 13. I would love to give this restaurant another chance and maybe try something other than what I ordered. I pray the business continues to thrive and remain successful. Don't base your review just on my taste buds , try for yourself !

Misherald B.

Yelp
The ratings and reviews had me anticipating an opportunity to get some good home cook soup good. However upon arriving we were made aware items were out. The restaurant its self was more of a concern there wasn't a proper setup for drinks nor eatery but also when it came time for food to be push from the kitchen the order wasn't in sync many times you were trying to figure out did miss it. This isn't a sit and eat place also if you order a combo ask to buy a drink.

Denise H.

Yelp
We were looking for some good Fried Chicken and the Trip Advisor reviews looked good so we tried it out. GPS got us in the area but we had to circle around to find it in the strip mall; better signage near Memorial Parkway would be good. The line was long so business was good. Long wait for chicken but that's expected. I only received 1 of 2 pieces so I had to ask for 2nd piece and more ice for my tea (should have ice near drink area). The sides were just okay. Some man burnt the cornbread and swore in the kitchen so everyone could hear. The bathroom was not clean and the toilet didn't flush. The place needs a decor update and deep cleaning. We can get better food elsewhere for the price so we won't be back.

Daranee S.

Yelp
Delicious home-cooked meals! True Southern comfort food. Enjoyed all of the food I've ever tried at Betty Mae's!

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Omg the food is fabulous! You will love it if you love good ol southern cooking this is definitely the place to eat!! It's just amazing!! Lunch plate comes with drink and dessert which are both homemade!! I can't say enough about this place. You're gonna love it!!

Brianna T.

Yelp
Moved here and was looking for a good soul food restaurant and I'm glad I ran across this restaurant. We love the turkey wings, and fried chicken, and please don't get me started on the collard greens, yams, and cornbread!

Teshana C.

Yelp
Great food and I'm never disappointed when I go here. I always recommend my family and friends to try Betty Mae''s and everyone is always happy with the food

Jenita P.

Yelp
I have been to Betty's Mae's a few times and I believe they have some of the best soul food in Huntsville. The prices are comparable. The service is great. Everyone is very polite. Ambiance is typical; not fancy. Their food draws a crowd all the time. However; the cleanliness of the restaurant is horrible. Everything is sticky: the tables, the floors and the condiments are sticky. Total turn off.

Jerre G.

Yelp
Went here due to AL.com rating the fried chicken as some of the best in the state and it did not disappoint. Got fried chicken, fried corn, fried green tomatoes and Mac n cheese and it was all delicious. Want to try everything.

Whitney M.

Yelp
I've yet to have a dish I didn't like. The food speaks for itself. The staff is always welcoming and the service is quick. I can't seem to catch them when they have the honeybun cake though. Gotta try it to know why. It's a chill spot to enjoy lunch ( I always regret not ordering double -- it's that good). Be sure to check the hours or you'll be disappointed. The sides are pork free. Stop by and enjoy!

Alfred H.

Yelp
First time here and I got the lunch special for $14.95. I ordered the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy along with collard greens, cornbread, banana pudding and a drink. The chicken was delicious however I only got a leg and a wing. Felt kind of disappointed in the pieces for the price I paid. The greens were mid and the mashed potatoes were more liked clumped potatoes. The pudding was excellent. I'll come back.

Michael P.

Yelp
I saw an article in Alabama News Center talking about the Five Must-Try Fried Chicken Plates in Alabama, and Betty Mae's was on the list. I book marked it since I was visiting Huntsville a few days later. This meat and three offers you a meat, 2 sides, bread, drink and desert for $11. They have a good selection and the portions are generous, so I would say this is a must try place. Of course I ordered the fried chicken, with mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes, corn bread muffin, and lemon cake. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside; overall pretty good. I thought the mac and cheese was a bit bland, but the fried green tomatoes were good. Corn bread wasn't too dry, and the lemon cake was moist and lemony sweet. The meal is an excellent value, so Betty Mae's has rightfully earned a spot on the must try list.

Chef Paul P.

Yelp
The best down home cooking one can ask for in Huntsville, AL. The service can be spotty at times (mainly on Sundays) there is not much of an ambiance. The oxtails, candied yams and cornbread is spot on! If you visit on Sundays be prepared to wait in a long line and also for your food to be prepared.

Marion H.

Yelp
The wait time needs improvement. Food is fantastic once you get it. I have been there only a few times; however each time I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Vendell M.

Yelp
The 'fried porkchop' was delicious and huge. that alone is a 5 star treat I was scared to try to the Fried Corn but braved it. I was more like canned corn in consistency and and I will skip it next time The counter service seems disorganized when you first walk in, but it is not too hard to figure out. The owners/staff were friendly but very busy with all the orders. We will be back

Brittany A.

Yelp
If you're looking for some delicious soulfood then look no more! Betty Mae's is so good. You feel like you're at your grandmas house on Sunday after church. They have daily specials that include a dessert and drink. The staff were nice and had great customer service. We will be back!

Lynn B.

Yelp
The food is excellent! Delicious fried chicken and awesome sides. Would highly recommend for lunch.

Mickey I.

Yelp
When visiting Tennessee I always make the trip to Betty Mae's. Everything I've had here from the savory dishes to desserts are great.

Carey E.

Yelp
Great food, very simple and authentic. Staff was smiling and having a good time while handling a busy lunch rush.

Suzanne C.

Yelp
I am beyond impressed with Betty Mae's! I randomly googled "soul food near me" (which I have never done before) and Betty Mae's came up first. We decided to give it a try and it was the most pleasant food surprise I have had in some time. The chicken and dressing was incredible. The meat was cooked to tender perfection and the cornbread dressing was divine. Oh- and the turnip greens were the perfect compliment to the meal. And the best part- there was enough seasoning and black pepper to give it a kick of flavor which I have found lacking at similar restaurants. The portions are huge- I ate on it for two days and the left overs were also divine. Meals also come with a drink and dessert making it an even better deal. I will go back again and again and highly recommend!

Bailey B.

Yelp
Can't believe I've never left Betty Mae's a review. I've been visiting since before they moved from their old location on Grace. The food is very, very good. Their new spot is on Memorial Parkway and definitely has more of a restaurant vibe than their old one. It's a clean and comfortable place where you order at the counter and pour your own drink (there are only four drink options, by the way: diabetes inducing sweet tea, lemonade, and Kool-Aid, along with unsweetened tea). To my knowledge, all food comes out in styrofoam containers. They offer changing meats from day to day, and a fairly diverse number of them, at that. Fried chicken is a mainstay, though, and Betty Mae's competes with G's for my pick of "best fried chicken in Huntsville." I would say that G's is generally juicier, but Betty Mae's tends to have more flavorful breading. Both are delicious; I think it just depends on what kind of experience you want and whatever your preference is on a given day. At any rate, I always go for white meat fried chicken. I tend to be given a breast and a whole wing with my meal. Plates run for about 11 bucks and you get a meat, two sides, a dessert, a roll or cornbread, and a small drink. Considering how loaded these plates are, it's a good deal. Yesterday, I selected yams and macaroni and cheese as my sides. For my boyfriend's plate, macaroni and cheese and fried okra. We both selected rolls, banana pudding, and sweet tea to complete our meals. Service was a touch surly on this visit, but the food came out quickly and kept extremely well on the drive home. Overall, the food lived up to how I remembered it. Delicious soul food that'll keep you full the whole day, no problem. Betty Mae's is not afraid of salt, sugar, or pepper: this food is seasoned. One of the bigger pieces of yam was slightly overcooked, but the rest was perfectly soft and sweet. A word of warning: their sweet tea is a touch too sweet for me, and I love very sweet tea. It'll hurt your teeth! The banana pudding comes with an abundance of Nilla wafers, as it should. Definitely check out Betty Mae's for some of the best soul food in the city. Don't be shy!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Everything needs improving. The food was terrible. The service was awful. I would not recommend to anyone

Joe R.

Yelp
Great meat and 3 which Huntsville is famous for. Not fancy at all but great food. Free drink with your meal!

Dee Dee T.

Yelp
I will be back in February!! Please be the same!!? This is the bee's knees?? Ankles, joints, peas, greens, mashed potatoes !! WAIT do they do greens??

Jay F.

Yelp
If you want authentic soul food in HSV, then Betty Mae's is the place. I have been coming to here since I was in college, and they were in their previous building. The service is always great. You're going to wait a bit for your food because it's freshly prepared. My favorite is the catfish and fried chicken.

Julie r.

Yelp
If you like southern cooking, you will love Betty Mae's. Lemon pound cake is yummy, nice and moist. Collar greens pack much flavor. Pork chops, catfish, fried chicken!

Dawan B.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff, had a delightful conversation with the owner! I had the smothered Turkey legs, turnip greens and mashed potatoes. All were absolutely delicious. I'm only in town for the day, originally from Atlanta and Betty Mae's can compete with the best of them nationwide! It was truly a pleasure trying their fresh foods! Whenever I am in town I will definitely be back. Update: they also season their vegetables with Turkey meat and for someone like myself who does not eat pork that is definitely a plus.

Michelle G.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start. Everything was SO good. The portion sizes are huge. All food and drinks come in to go containers which I'm assuming helps the kitchen from having to stop and wash dishes. Service was fast and everyone was friendly!

Ronald W.

Yelp
Very good home cooking fried salmon patties were delicious I suggest going off different directions than Google map use Waze to find the right directions

Ken T.

Yelp
Great food, but close early frequently, their phone is always disconnected , multiple phone numbers listed between on the store/Google/Yelp/website. It is hard to support BOBs when they don't answer their phones for call-ins, don't invest in legitimate websites, and lock their doors during their hours of operation. Like if you want to lock up at 2:30 or 2:45, just "close" at 2:30 or 2:45.

Matthew W.

Yelp
My buddy and I come here a lot for lunch. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. Today they were having problems with their credit card provider, and while I don't want to provide details should someone try and take advantage, but the owner was very generous and kind to us. I hope they read this because the owner is awesome and I hope YOU support this awesome locally owned restaurant. We will be back for as long as they are open.

Sarah J.

Yelp
Betty Mae's food is just plain good. If you're craving grandma's cooking but the family reunion is a ways off go here! It's clean, a little crowded but the variety and price can't be beat! My hubby had the fried pork chop which was huge, thick and golden brown I had the meatloaf and the portion was so big I was having meatloaf sandwiches the next day. The veggies are always good. I had the mashed potatoes which included tiny chunks of potato so you knew they didn't come from a box and the fried green tomatoes which are always thinly sliced and crunchy. You also get bread, drink and dessert included. The dessert is full sized -- not some tiny square of cake. They'd just run out of the red velvet so I got the banana pudding. They had the pudding \ nilla wafer ratio just right! One word about the tea: it puts Milo's to shame. It is strong and very sweet so you might want to dilute it with water ( I did and it was just to my liking)

Bill B.

Yelp
Betty Mae's has been on my bucket list for many months and I finally stopped by for lunch. I really love the "mom & pop" style and the home cooking. The restaurant in located in an old house and you walk into the kitchen and place your order at a simple counter. You actually feel the heat from the large multi-burner stove as you place your order. Nothing fancy here. The menu is a white marker board with the daily specials. You choose the meat and side dishes, pay, and sit down in an adjacent room. Nothing fancy here. The menu shows they have a wide variety of meats and sides dishes. For just $7.99 you get a meat, two sides, a choice of corn bread or roll, drink, and a dessert. Very reasonable. The dining room is just an open room with a mix-match of tables and chairs. Most don't match and many are unbalanced and need a wad of napkins to keep steady. Nothing fancy here. Every order is custom made and a group of 8 people were in front of me, so it took some time for my order to brought to my table. There are no dishes to clean at Betty Mae's; all food is served in styrofoam 3-compartment to-go food containers. Nothing fancy here. The food portions are large; a surprise given how cheap the food is. I chose meat loaf; yes I am an offical meat loaf connoisseur...I have a meat loaf badge!! The meat loaf was good, but fell apart and had too many onions. The onions were not sauteed prior to insertion into the meat loaf so I had to pick around the meat loaf to miss the large onion pieces. The mash potatoes were good and covered in a nice gravy, however they were a little lumpy. The candied yams were AWESOME!!!!! Maybe the best ever! The corn bread was good but a little dry and I didn't see any butter to add moisture to the corn bread. The chocolate cake, wrapped in cellophane, was very good! The drinks are self-serve and you have choice between sweet tea, unsweet tea, lemonade, and kool-aid...yes...kool-aid. Isn't that cool? Where can you get kool-aid these days? Made me feel like a kid again. So even though a few things could be improved, I had a wonderful lunch experience. I need to compliment the employees as they were super friendly and courteous. The is nothing fancy at Betty Mae's, but you will have a great affordable lunch experience.

Katherine A.

Yelp
Classic comfort soul food in an authentic local setting, served by a friendly staff, will not disappoint. Housed in a small modest shop in the middle of an older neighborhood, sits Betty Mae's. Walk into the kitchen and see the cooks hand-breading and frying each piece of chicken fresh. Choose from a daily menu on the board of specials. A meat, two sides, bread, drink and desert for only $7.99-what a deal! We selected salmon cakes and fried chicken with sides of fried green tomatoes, green beans, collars greens and coke slaw. We selected corn bread, ice tea and lemon cake and sweet potato pie. We sipped our tea and waited for our lunch in a small adjacent dining area playing reruns of an old Western on the television. The food came quickly. The meat servings were enormous. The pair of salmon cakes were 6 inch in diameter each with a crispy charred coating. They were delicious. The chicken, also generous two pieces, coated with a crispy batter was hot and juicy. The green beans and collards were sweet and flavorful. The fried green tomatoes were coated with a corn meal breading. The corn bread was equally delicious. We also enjoyed the lemon cake-a kind of bundt cake with a sugar glaze. The sweet potato pie was definitely homemade with a flaky crust. As we ate, the place filled with locals and tourists. The manager stopped by our table to make sure we had everything we needed. If you're looking for a taste of the old South, stop by Betty Mae's!

D C.

Yelp
Nobody answered the phone in 10 calls. Between noon and 2 pm. Got there and closed. Off to pop eyes. So much for keeping it local flying home tomorrow.

Ms E.

Yelp
Okay, first let me apologize. This review is long overdue. My son introduced me to this restaurant a couple of months ago. And, y'all, the food made my whole body happy. Just happy! I recently introduced two co-workers to Betty Mae's and one comment summed it up for the three of us. One colleague looked at me an said, "Oh My Word...This food is the TRUTH!!!" Yep, that about sums it up. We all had something different but each one of us were talking about how flavorFUL EVERYTHING was. So, the only other comment I want to make is this....Make it YOUR business to get here and bring your best taste buds. They will thank you for it.

Charles H.

Yelp
Just great food like my mother used to make. If I'm in Huntsville and in that part of town I will always eat here!

Kelly D.

Yelp
SOOO GOOD!!!! I have been here a couple times recently and the quality was great everytime!! The staff is also very nice and makes good suggestions. I have tried the fried chicken, fried porkchop, and the smothered turkey leg. The fried porkchop was probably my favorite but I will be back for EVERYTHING. The smothered turkey leg last me three meals it was so meaty!! My favorite sides are the fried corn (kind of like a creamed corn??), field peas (basically black eyed peas), and the pinto beans! The food is very salty, but that's the BEST WAY. And the desserts are sooo good. I always get the cookie pudding which is banana pudding without the bananas! The regular box meal comes with an entree, two sides, drink, AND a dessert! Such a great deal!!!

Kim L.

Yelp
Man, what a deal and what a selection for soul food. This is the place if you want to get some killer soul food staples. You choose a meat/protein, two "veggies" (really, sides), a dessert, and a drink for under $10. I chose the fried catfish, fried okra, yams, and sweet potato pie with some unsweetened tea. Everything was very flavorful and fresh when we received our food. It doesn't come out immediately - they're making it fresh! I will say that everything skews really sweet (yams, lemonade, sweet tea, etc.) but the savory dishes were perfect. I even got to try some of the neckbones that they were serving for the day and they were stewed and cooked to perfection. Definitely a hole in the wall - you get here from driving down a residential street and feel like you're going the wrong way but man, you did get yourself a home cooked soul food meal!

Tiffany D.

Yelp
I've heard of Betty Mae's for years and was born and raised in HSV. However, I had never had them. Recently my uncle has been making suggestions on places to try and this was one. It was also on my list to try so I was happy. I'm also trying to support more black owned businesses. My uncle and I stopped by here for lunch. It wasn't super crowded and we were able to get in and out within 10-15 min. I ordered the Meatloaf with a roll, Mashed Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, Fried Okra, Cabbage and Peach Cobbler. Yes, I needed to try it all. Lol. My uncle ordered the Pork Chop with cornbread, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Cabbage and a slice of Lemon Cake. The Meatloaf was seasoned well and tasted really good. It also had a good texture. My only complaint is it was in the warmer a little to long and it was a little dry. The Mac&Cheese was decent. It had the perfect creaminess. It wasn't to watery but it wasn't dry. The Mashed Potatoes were a little dry and nothing special. The Cabbage was a little bland in my opinion. It was cooked perfect but needed some more flavor. The Fried Okra was perfect and they made it fresh. This was perfect. It was also salted right after it came out the fryer. Yum, so so good! The Peach Cobbler was also very good. The peach filling was the perfect flavor and the bread/crust was delicious. My uncle said his Pork Chop and sides were good. I tried his Pork Chop and it was pretty good. It had a good flavor. It was slightly overcooked but overall good. Overall, Betty Mae's was good. Of course like any restaurant, some things were really good and others needed some work. However, I would come back and get the items that were good. They didn't have Red Velvet Cake the day I went, so I'd like to try that next time.

Dan K.

Yelp
WOW! So I am in town for a few days of training. I rely on Yelp to steer me right to the best places in town, and it did not let me down here. I ate here twice in two days, and plan to eat here at least once more. I need you to stop right now and go there immediately (During lunchtime as that is when they are open) Fried Chicken, Smothered Pork Chop, Fried Okra, Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Corn, Jesus Eggs, Corn Bread, Peach Cobbler, Honey Bun Cake, and Red Velvet Cake. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY! Nothing was bad, it was all good, and I have put the Smothered Pork Chops on my death row meal! The chicken was top 5 for me. There is a little spice to coating and I liked it. I just wished I got more than 2 pieces. The pork chops? Over the top, and like I said, it was a death row meal for me... For the sides, fried okra, jesus eggs, green tomatotes, and the corn are what I liked in order. The okra was just done right, I don't know what else I can say! The jesus eggs? There is something sweet there I don't know. But I like it! The desserts? Until yesterday I had never heard of the "honey bun cake" . The kid behind the counter recommended it and I was hesitant at first. I envisioned the kind you get in the cellophane (good nonetheless, but not what I was looking for). I am glad I did not turn it down. My blood sugars are still sky high. This was one of the best desserts I've ever had! The peach cobbler was good. But it got served by the HBC!!! And the Red Velvet Cake? I will let you know later when I finally eat it! The red syrup Kool-Aid is illegal in California! But that don't mean you should shy away from it! Delicious!!! So to me, someone from Chicago, this is what Southern Food is. I think this is the first place I have eaten at that is truly soul food or southern food. I ate at some awesome places in Savannah, but this blows them out of the water! Well done. Great staff and they are all friendly and helpful! I am coming back at least once more, if not twice!

Yelp
CLOSED!! Today is Friday, Aug 12th. Sign on door said closed Aug 14th-15th. Wasted time and gas money

Yelp
Oh my goodness. The pictures does not do this place justice! My brother in law's bday was yesterday and he was craving fried pork. We decided to try this place and was very surprised. Each plate had 2 sides, a bread choice, drink choice, and dessert. The price for everything is pretty reasonable to the amount we got. Sadly we were so hungry and just dug in and devour the food before I could take a pic. Fried pork 5/5 The batter is so good. The pork was tender and juicy. I was very surprised bc usually places always over cook pork. Very flavorful. Fried chicken 5/5 The batter for this was so good also! It was crispy and juicy as well. Wasn't overly cooked and was super flavorful. If I go back this was my favorite dish. Turkey leg smothered 3/5 This was the healthier dish of them all. It was tender but the flavor was on the lighter side. The gravy wasn't too flavorful either. It was still tasty just in comparison to the other entree it wasn't up there. Mash potatoes 3/5 Just mash potatoes. It was bad but wasn't super great either. It was light and with the flavorful dishes it helped balance everything out. Mac and cheese 4/5 I throughly enjoyed this. It was tasty, cheesy, and pasta was soft. Jesus eggs 3/5 There were two eggs. It was on the sweeter side and reminded me of potato salad. Roll 5/5 Hawaiian rolls. Yum. Cornbread 2/5 Was on the burnt and dry side. Pound cake 4/5 Very moist and a good size. Also a very good sweetness level. Peach cobbler 2/5 It has a strange after taste and was too sweet for us. Banana pudding 5/5 I typically don't like banana flavored desserts but this was not too sweet and has a really nice balance of banana. Sweet tea 4/5 It was a good sweet tea. Lemonade 3/5 It's the koolaid lemonade mix. We thought it was fresh lemonade.

Yelp
This "hole-in-the-wall" family-owned (apparently) business knows how to make Southern food. "Meat and 2" options change daily and a glimpse into the kitchen looks like Grandma making lunch/dinner in huge pots. Don't expect table service--or even plates. This smart establishment serves everyone at the counter in styrofoam containers. However, they do offer plenty of seating if you want to dine in. Food is great and portions are plentiful. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Ooooooooo Betty Mae!!!!! Highly recommend, everyone loved all of there food. I had chicken and I'm dreaming about it now. I don't understand how it was so juicy and crispy. My friends had the pork chop and one had fish. The sides are delicious. As I was eating I was planning when I could come back. If you haven't been go! She didn't pay me to write this but I wish she would pay me in chicken for this review.

Yelp
Love love love this place. This is one of the best soul food restaurant in Huntsville. Food is delicious. There are different entrees sold on different days but they are all so delicious. There are some entrees sold everyday but BE SURE TO GET THE SPECIALS of The Day they won't disappoint. This place gets so busy sometimes they run out of food. You get a entree with two sides a drink and dessert for a very low price. Now who can beat that ?! Side note: sometimes they do have their bad days where Mac maybe watery but that's only on their very stressful days.
