Google
We were looking for a quaint, hometown restaurant. We found it! Service was great, and the atmosphere was amazing. It's not a huge restaurant, but that is kinda what made the experience great. We had a short wait for a booth, but the gals doing the serving we awesome! The food was good enough, but not excellent. Portions were very generous, and the price was perfect. Would definitely go again if we were in the area.

Hannah F.

Google
The salads are big and their BLT is perfect! We sat down in five minutes and our food came out even quicker. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was family friendly.

Google
I stopped by three days in a row while visiting in town. Very impressed with the service, coffee cup stayed full, friendly atmosphere and skilled long-time staff. I enjoyed corned beef hash, skillet, CF steak, apple fritter and carmel roll. All of which was recommended and so worth it! My favorite was the homemade hashbrowns, you can tell its the real deal. Definitely a Red Wing gem! Go say hi to Phee Phee, she loves working at this diner.

Google
Bev's is a good little cafe. Katie R serves us and she was amazing! The cafe was super busy and yet she kept our coffee full and was plenty attentive to us. She was busy and very organized in the while restaurant. I was pretty impressed. We ordered pancakes 🥞 they were good. Sugar free syrup was available

Google
Cute place! My dad and I were visiting Red Wing for a conference, and we stopped here for lunch before we left. Can't resist a place with all-day breakfast. Our server was kind and attentive. I liked the variety of sides you could get. The food was nothing special, but it was good. The kind service and atmosphere is the real seller.

Google
It is such an adorable restaurant in the small town. But please note that this is not a really big restaurant. It might not be able to always accommodate the group of people at the same table. We kind of need to separate into two tables. It is fine though. The dishes were family restaurant style, and I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere there. Of course, enjoying the food too. The service was awesome too! Overall, I recommend this restaurant when visiting red wing.

Google
This is an absolute treasure, a lovely and welcoming cafe/diner type place that serves breakfast all day but also other food. We had super tasty burgers (with meat and with black bean burger) and chicken sandwich 😋 The home made pecan pie and raspberry custard cake were excellent, not too sweet, just perfect. The service was warm and welcoming, it seemed popular with the locals too.

Google
Cute Cafe. We were happy to stumble upon it for an early breakfast. BUT...Not so friendly to tourists..aka “you’re not from around here, are you?” The waitress was very attentive…to the locals, making sure their coffee cups were filled. The locals made it a point to speak LOUDLY about their political candidate during their morning coffee clutch. We're a quiet group & try to be a friendly as possible. We don't ask for much, we don't ask for special orders, but we do expect to have food served with pleasure, especially in cute little cafes. It was evident they pegged us as not one of them, “from the cities”, so we got served burned “crispy” bacon & no refill coffee for us. Never going back. Don't recommend anyone to come to a place that judges outsiders and serves hostility in the food.

Susan L.

Yelp
Phenomenal home-cooked food. Super happy and friendly service. Welcoming atmosphere. A must-experience when visiting Red Wing.

Yelp
Small town diner full of regulars, makes you feel like you're at that hometown diner in Adam Sandler's "Mr. Deeds" movie, just the greeting card walls are replaced with local history photos and farmy wall hangings. Food was affordable and to the point. All the basics are covered. Quick and kind service! The location adds some bonus points being right in the heart of town, walking distance of most things you're looking to see in red wing. I went alone as no one wanted to join my excessively early biking ventures, they have great hours for early birds - 5 am - 3 pm on weekdays, and 6 am - 2 pm on weekends. But I saw groups of 6 and they seem like the kind of place that would "make it work" for just about anything. If you're looking for a no-frills local breakfast spot in red wing, consider it found!

Yelp
Server Fifi was so friendly and pleasant! Small town, olden time cafe which was fun to visit as well as fun food to eat. Have you ever heard of Gritwurst? Sturdiwheat pancakes?
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting from Texas and found this place for breakfast. The portion sizes were great, the food was delicious, and the waitress was an absolute peach! It has a very homey feeling to it. Definitely could tell there were regulars, but they made us feel like we fit right in!!! Made us seriously consider moving to the area!!!!!
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, warm cozy diner cafe vibes. Food tastes great. I got the corned beef hash and my wife got the skillet. Coffee is good and warm and we will be coming back soon!

John M.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Breakfast specials are awesome. Would love to visit again for lunch and home made pie!!

Todd G.

Yelp
The food and service were very very good. We enjoyed our visit tremendously. Will come back on our next visit to Red Wing.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
Had an excellent breakfast experience! Our server was so friendly and attentive, the food was tasty and fresh, and the atmosphere was charming! Wish we had an option like this in our own town!

Candace L.

Yelp
The food and service at Bev's is fantastic. I had a delicious chicken pesto sandwich with sweet potato fries. The chicken was moist and perfect and the ciabatta bun was soft and toasted to perfection. But what really makes this cafe stand out is the service. The 2 servers were extremely attentive to our every need, refilling hot water for my tea, making suggestions about putting sauce on the side. But watching them interact with a diverse clientele of every ability, age, etc. with respect, compassion and friendly humor made me emotional. I'm not sure if this is how they are trained, raised or born, but I absolutely recommend Bev's for a fantastic meal and outstanding service.

Yelp
Just another amazing experience (a little tight and hectic since it opened up again) but it's what you expect from a restaurant in a town like Red Wing! We enjoyed it, felt very cozy and home-like, as the patrons played with our kids and started conversations. It was pleasant and would return again the next time we visit the city.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
We went for breakfast. Big meal for low cost in a diner setting. I would definitely return. My husband ordered the gritwurst with eggs. That was a fun adventurous meal for him but he would not order it again. I had the Denver (omelette) Sandwich. It was perfect... and also $5.25!!

Ron R.

Yelp
I love this place and often stop in on my way back from Rochester to treat myself and to step back in time. It's not just one thing but the combination of food (especially the daily specials), the wait staff and the atmosphere. It's a local hangout and the feeling is very comfortable. The other day I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich and when delivered the plate was almost overflowing with a hardy portion of roast beef between white bread and their homemade mashed potatoes all smothered in gravy--just like my favorite meal with my dad in a similar cafe years ago. Bev's provides a great experience and a great memory. Thank you!
google avatar

George N.

Yelp
Great staff, very tasty hash and an awesome place to grab breakfast, but popular so you may have to wait. Well worth the wait.
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
We stopped in had a good small town cafe experience. Service was great, food came out fast. Prices were decent

Amber N.

Yelp
This is a cute little cafe in Downtown Red Wing. I went really early and there seemed to be a lot of regulars. The food was generic breakfast food, but they had a lot of skillet options, which was unique! The waitress was nice, but also quick and efficient. It was a block from my hotel, so walking distance was a plus! The only downside is they charge you a fee if you use a credit or debit card.
google avatar

Gina M.

Yelp
It was ok. We visited Bev's for the first time. It appeared to be clean and the meals we ordered looked and tasted old fashioned home cooking. The wait staff was pleasant and took care of us. It was super cold in the restaurant. It looked like, if you sit on the right side it would be warmer. The air conditioning vents are on the left. Covid has things messed up. Each table is given one paper menu. I don't think they have sweetener because when I asked, I was given sugar. The omelets were smaller than I expected. The hash browns were huge but not crisp. The prices are higher and the servings are smaller than Perkins. The atmosphere was nice. And are waitress was super nice and very attentive. We're not sure if we'll be back.
google avatar

Jen E.

Yelp
First time visitor. Had the eggs Benedict omelet not bad. Nice environment but the waitress was so rude. First time visiting to Red Wing Minnesota thought everyone was nicer in Minnesota until today. Kindness goes a long way. Do better.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
This was an unplanned stop on a backroad road trip from Minneapolis back to Chicago. We left the twin cites early enough to make to to Red Wing MN by breakfast. Bev's was well-Yelp'ed and deservedly so. It's an old historic building in vibrant downtown Red Wing. I like the way breakfast was à La Carte instead of just a bunch of oversize portions. My girlfriend got the "Mike's Special Omelet" with a side of toast. I got the "Everything Omelet". Skipped the toast and instead we shared a side buttermilk pancakes, short stack. Everything was very good. I should have tried the Sturdiwheat Pancakes; I had no idea what they are and that Sturdiwheat is local Red Wing. Maybe if we're ever back, I will. The restaurant was crowded and the service was a bit slow. Lost them a star on what otherwise would have been a 5 star review. The place was very Christmas-y on the weekend before Thanksgiving.
google avatar

Denise F.

Yelp
Great classic diner. Busy on a Sunday morning but after a short wait, we got seated and served up tasty coffee. Pleasant capable waitress. My veggie omelette was great. Cinnamon raisin toast wonderful and they arranged the toast in a fun pinwheel shape.Husband really liked his basic 2 egg breakfast. Hash browns were made out of cubed potatoes;he prefers more of a shredded type but still quite fine.
google avatar

Maggie D.

Yelp
Great little old fashioned, small town diner. The breakfast is all that you would expect and we all cleaned our plates. Perfect for families: coloring supplies given!
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Amazing service, great home cooking! Next time we're in Red Wing, we will definitely return!

J W.

Yelp
Bev's is a Red Wing treasure. A small diner which steps back in time. That's a good thing. Hard working friendly staff who work their hardest. Delicious home cooking, generous portions at a decent price. Homemade malts, pies and desserts too. I agree it can get busy and you may have to wait, but there's a good reason for that. Red Wing Resident

Kevin H.

Yelp
Quaint little small town cafe with great homemade food. Breakfast all day. Homemade pies, homemade gritwurst and daily specials. Friendly service.
google avatar

Dean L.

Yelp
Tasty food with all day breakfast. Had the macaroni salad, which was very nice and a great BLT. They ARE accepting credit cards

Kevin S.

Yelp
Nice service and friendly atmosphere. Food was okay but not memorable. Standard Farmer Brothers coffee and the usual sides with breakfast are extra. Meh
google avatar

Tim T.

Yelp
Place is great.food is excellent! Spot on for what it should be! Service is good even though its usually one server. She runs around like a maniac. Prices are extremely reasonable. Place is very small so get there early & expect to wait. But its well worth it! Kitchen service on their all the time. Do stop!! Your tum tum will thank you!

Mitch M.

Yelp
I had the Everything omlette and the cheese tasted like Velveeta processed cheese and the butter on my toast seemed to be margarine instead of butter. Not very good.
google avatar

Erin W.

Yelp
After a morning of hiking, lunch from Bev's hit the spot!! We loved the burgers & quick service. Very fair pricing as well. Would stop again!
google avatar

Georgette S.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast with eggs over medium cooked to perfection (and available all day long)! The coffee was flavorful and the refills kept coming despite the place being jam packed - a sign it's loved! Service was exceptional and friendly - if I lived nearby, this would be my place. It's the kind of place "where everybody knows your name."
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Terrific breakfast, wonderful coffee, and very nice staff. We were in Red Wing for a wedding, and were looking for a breakfast place where the locals go. Found it, right across the street from the St James Hotel, Bev's Cafe. Can't say enough great things about this place. The food was perfect! I had a traditional eggs & hash browns, and my wife had the corned beef hash. Simply the best she's ever had! The staff were all friendly and attentive, and treat you like an old friend. Definitely stop by this place if you're in Red Wing!
google avatar

Frank N.

Yelp
Well it's been awhile since I've eaten here, but nothing has changed, home cooked meals, well prepared, hot to your table with efficient young wait help. Thank god they don't say " how's it tasting", when did that phrase become so Popular and equally annoying! The hash browns are baked potatoes, well seasoned and crisp, eggs properly cooked with a deft hand, and the bacon thick and crispy, with whole wheat toast.. at $ 6.95 what's not to like, one of my favorite little breakfast Gems, also try Whistle Stop, Frontenac Eagle cafe Wabasha on on Hwy 61 South ; then over to Nelson WI to Beth's..! You gotta love Small town roadside cafes!!!
google avatar

Joshua N.

Yelp
Good breakfast food this morning and the quantity was filling. Food was hot and fresh. One disappointing thing was no substitutions.
google avatar

Cindy H.

Yelp
Visiting Lake City for 2 weeks and I've already been here twice. Loved my servers both times. Food was excellent. Don't miss the house made raspberry compote reduction for your pancakes. Perfect! Cozy and warm friendly atmosphere with a nice menu selection.
google avatar

Marie F.

Yelp
Bev's was a great breakfast place! We were starving and this place serves an amazing meal!!
google avatar

Jackie B.

Yelp
Love this little hometown gem of a cafe. I lived in Red Wing and now live in Saint Paul. Bev's is the type of small town cafes that I miss. Great, sweet waitresses, and delicious food- love going to Bev's on Sunday morning for breakfast. Nice variety on the menu. Lots of regulars for a very good reason. Shelly, the owner is a sweet person who will come out and make sure you are satisfied. Watching the waitresses and the regulars lively chit-chat back and forth is fun. Lovely old prints of Red Wing on the walls and always decorated for the holidays. If you drive to Red Wing, stop at Bevs! You won't be disappointed! One thing, though they don't accept credit cards-so bring cash or checks. They should reconsider that , but do have an ATM.
google avatar

Brian F.

Yelp
The world needs more cafes like this. It's cute, local, they've got a great funny "regular coffee" price poster that's kinda their slogan I think. I'm writing this even before I've eaten or received my food but I really love the aesthetic of this place simply because it's really been just a lost feel for food and it's something that really needs to come back. A breakfast joint should always have this warm and welcome feel to the place.
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
Good food. It's just a small place and there is often a line. If you can get in it's nice. They have a spicy burger that will make you suffer but it's a nice mix with a delicious mulch shake.

Sam M.

Yelp
We used to come here all the time. The food used to be great but has gone downhill over time. I would steer clear
google avatar

Suzie S.

Yelp
Great place for reasonable prices! We've gone here a few times for brunch and the staff is always prompt & friendly! Everything has been great and they have a good variety of menu options!

Ellen M.

Yelp
Horrible. Yes, it was busy and it's a small place. There were no take out orders to bog things down - just customers in a very small place with 8 booths and 5 tables. Plan to wait 10 mins for your server to arrive. My order of 2 French toasts with sausages took 27 mins to arrive. The Sausages were fried to the point of being dried out sticks like jerky. The French toast was barely barely barely done - and lukewarm when served. My server was polite and apologetic and removed the coffee charge for the sausage snafu, but that doesn't fix the issue of the kitchen.

Joy K.

Yelp
This is a no nonsense local place with great breakfast food. Skip the early morning rush of "regulars" it's not a large diner. Great service, friendly wait staff. We felt very welcome, even though we were only in town a couple of days on vacation.
google avatar

Diane B.

Yelp
Typical small-town cafe with sweet, efficient waitresses and great home-style good! Sausage and cheese omelet, corned beef hash, " everything" skillets and really good coffee!!
google avatar

Jake M.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch with my wife while loitering around Red Wing. I got the bacon curd burger and she got stuffed French toast. My stuffed bacon curd burger was pretty good. I devoured it in record time. My wife's stuffed French toast was not as good unfortunately. It was a couple soggy pieces of French toast with a slab of cream cheese sandwiched between them. Then it was smothered with so much fruit tipping that it seemed to almost turn the dish into a soup. She ate around half of it before stopping. To make matters slightly worse it did not come out with the fruit she had asked for. So my food was pretty good, her good not so much. Thad why I give this place 3 stars. After pursuing around Red Wing some more we found some other places we would have probably liked to eat at more. Next time.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
I and my two friends ate there today for Saturday lunch during our day trip to Red Wing. I was able to find this gem due to the recommendation of the owner of an antiques store in Red Wing and I was very glad that I took her recommendation. The cafe was very similar to a 1950's diner minus the counter and stools. My friend Kara had the meatloaf sandwhich which she said was delicious although she thought the onion rings on top was unnecessary. To her surprise and delight the mashed potatos with sandwich were made from real mashed potatos and not instant. She said she would recommend the sandwich. Her husband Chuck had the Inferno Burger. The burger was good, but definitely not spicy/hot according to him. My burger was Vampire Repellent burger with garlic and roasted red pepper. It was delicious and I quickly devoured the burger. Also, make sure you order the cheese curds to start. They were definitely the best curds that I have ever had outside of Wisconsin. The prices are great, my meal with a homemade cherrry coke was just over $9. If I am in Red Wing again, this will definitely be a sure stop.

Yelp
I don't find Bev's quite as much a romantic diner from the days of old as the previous reviewer did. But then I eat at Bevs probably once a week and know it well. The current Bev's is a much-changed layout from "the old Bev's" which sad old graybeards and other fans of Red Wing nostalgia will pine for if you stick a quarter in them. It had the real long lunch counter and booths back then and now it has a short lunch counter, booths and--HORRORS--tables. Wh-a-t-ever. Bev actually no longer owns the joint, but the food is as good or better than the old days when Red Wing had Bevs--with '63 Impalla-driving Bev at the stove--and their arch rival ROBERTS CAFE ON PLUM STREET. Only Bev's remains. I had an omelet there this morning and it was stupendous. Even the coffee is good, and I usually hate that watered down battery acid that most diners serve as "coffee". Friday Fish Fry--during the day only, people--is excellent. Fish is served in several different fashions including beer-batter fried, and the ways other weird people eat their fish. Not raw of course, this is Red Wing. Bev's Friday Fish Fry at night has a 100% different feel than going there during Friday noon. I don't like it. Bev's a real nice diner and Red Wing institution. Plus they'll make me food off the menu if I'm feeling off the menu-ish. I have to love 'em.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Passing through Red Wing, we saw that this place had decent reviews and we were starving after two days of camping. Never ones to turn down breakfast foods, we were ecstatic to see that the breakfast menu was large and served all day. I ordered two eggs, toast, hashbrowns and bacon for only 6.75. I asked for my eggs to be poached and my toast to be dry- the eggs were beautifully done, and they remembered to leave my toast dry! Now, the hashbrowns... I am not sure how, but they seemed to be grated thicker than I've seen before and they were amazing. My husband had a hard time choosing between all the mouthwatering options, but landed on Biscuits & Gravy with a Buttermilk pancake on the side. The gravy was super good, the biscuit was perfectly flakey and the pancake the size of the plate and was delicious as well. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She seemed to know all the regular customers' preferences and tended to them while maintaining great service to us and our needs as well.
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
Those steel cut pancakes are super delicious and the sausage omelette are the best ever, anywhere. Val is such a great waitress and we just love chatting with her. Stop by Bev's and have some great food and outstanding service. Just sit down at the first dirty table and it will be clean in a jiffy!!
google avatar

Jennifer A.

Yelp
We were told this is where the locals go. Great food, excellent service and reasonable prices, would eat here again. I enjoyed the vege skillet and my husband said the burger was great.

Yelp
If you're headed to or just driving through Red Wing make sure you save some room for Bev's Cafe! The prices are VERY VERY reasonable!!! I had the House Made Gritwurst (comes with 2 eggs and two pieces of toast) which was excellent with over easy eggs and tabasco! Its definitely different but it was well worth it...but a little on the bland side (Thats what you get with German food) My better half had the stuffed french toast, which was also excellent! The french toast is stuffed with cream cheese and then is topped with your choice of strawberries, or blueberries, and whipped cream...I must say it was brilliant!!! To top it all off they offer locally brewed sarsaparilla... I had two! :-) You all should check it out, its not the oldest restaurant in Red Wing for no reason.
