This is more than a museum, it is a place where not only Polish but world history was written. The events of 1980 in this shipyard were the prelude to the unstoppable unraveling of communism in Poland and across Europe. It wasn't a smooth journey, which is why the Gdańsk shipyard is a great place to visit and learn what it took to get to the free Europe of today. The hall has been preserved as it was and the exhibition provides a very good historical context, including artefacts and photographic material. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the free museum. It’s definitely worth a stop. Most of the signs are in polish and English. It shows the history of the building and docks very well!!

I really enjoyed on the free Solidarity Tour led by passionate guides. The history behind this place holds so much, the most important place to the Solidarity movement. I even learned a lot of information about the Polish history and Solidarity movement from Lech Walesa and II World. Nicely narrated in only 2 hours and half. We highly recommend this tour and visit the old Museum where the declaration of rights of the Solidarity movement was signed. This is where the entire history of the Solidarity movement began.

It was a striking experience to visit this historic place after 43 years, still vivid in memory of us, who rose against the regime and its oppression.

A freezing (-9°) tour of Gdansk with a crazy Georgian guy, we never caught his name, he acosted us at Golden Gate in his, whatever the motorised thing he had was, and we took in the Shipyards. This small museum was a welcome stop for heat and coffee. Well laid out, and really interesting. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Visit to Gdańsk Shipyard is not complete without visiting this hall where the 21 agreements were signed between the Communist Gov and Solidarity.

This is the actual hall where Solidarity history was made. There is a shiny new museum next door, but if you have a local guide, this is a better visit. Your local guide can give you the history briefing in the actual historic location. If visiting on your own, then the new museum might be better visited first -to learn the historic details.
