Google
Large store where you can find all kinds of items. Home products, clothing, bags, perfumes. The store sometimes collaborates with brands. I was there when a Pokémon pop-up store was set up on the first floor. Note that the men's store is located in another building.

Google
Be careful with the fake offers from BHV!! We saw an offer of 10% reduction if you prove that you just moved to a new place They explain that is only applicable to the stores without “red dot” We spend the day looking for items and we paid extra attention to the red dot indication In the end none of the items we selected were applicable even though they were not marked as red dot So this offer is fake and not really worth the time when you can find the same items in other stores or even online

Well when we walked in, me and my little Tasmanian girlfriend loved the place. But when we went to buy a sought after backgammon set we found that they did not have it in stock. We had to settle for a lovely little set out of a cardboard box we bought from a man inside the store selling flowers. When we went to pay for it we saw all cash registers were empty yet said “bienvenue” on the screen. We attempted to speak to the computer yet it would not respond, although we were polite to the computer. We later found a person who said they didn’t work there but would check us out for a small fee. Luckily we come from a family of wealth so i was able to pay him for his delight service. As we left, me and my abnormally small girlfriend were exited to try out our new “vibrating master blaster” and backgammon set. All in all a great experience, the shop was great too!

Toilets can only be found on the top floor in the whole building. Truly incredible. Always a long queue outside.Tip: Go to the Men's department building across the street for the toilet instead. Visited again April 2025: found these discounted foods at the gourmet section but many items are past the best before date. These expired products should be donated instead of being sold with a 30 percent discount.

It’s an amazing mall in Paris city, just right in front of the famous Hotel De ville. It’s a one stop shopping destination. It has great brands under one roof, amazing collection but the food is the biggest highlight. Loved their options for lunch on the rooftop. The beautiful view of Paris and delicious food. All The staffs are kindly helpful, informative and welcoming. Don’t missed their complete collection of hardware and drugstore products in the basement. They are also offering discount in the special time between 18-20pm.

A very cool everything store- from crafts and diy to gardening and home supplies.

Google
Very nice place, the staff were very friendly, from the nice woman at zadig el voltaire to the lady at the tax return office. They have a big selection of items, for a higher price range of course but great quality.

Its an amazing shopping destination. It has great brands under one roof, amazing collection but the food is the biggest highlight. Loved their options for lunch on the rooftop. The beautiful view of Paris and delicious food. People are cheerful and welcoming. Great desserts.

Yelp
Le BHV Marais belons to the Galeries Lafayette Group and is a high-end department store. I was here for business and took the opportunity to check out the offerings. I loved the assortment selection but was not overly thrilled with the way the store presents itself. They had very few employees around and some areas were very cluttered and not at all welcoming. If you are looking for a nice shopping experience, I would recommend to stick to Galeries Lafayette.

Yelp
Getting more attention due to the Olympics. Still worth a visit. They have whatever you need at a great value

Yelp
Great department store that carries everything. From haute couture to shoes, books, home items, everything that your heart desires. They are also open on Sunday until 7pm. Great location in the Marais.

Laura S.

Yelp
Nice department store with a wide variety of home items in addition to typical department store offerings. There is a great food gift section on level 3. Highly recommend visiting the ground floor during the holiday season for the beautiful festive displays.

Yelp
In my planning for everything for the trip to Paris, I screwed up cameras and I found out that I had no SD card in the camera I brought with me. Asking the hotel deskman, he told me to go to BHV which was in walking distance from the hotel. I found my way to the electronics area but it seemed like all they sold were micro SD chips with an adapter card. One clerk sent me to another secrtion of the store where he thought they might have the regular sized SDs. They didn't, but I decided to buy the micro card with the adapter. I was told by the clerk that once it was opened it was not returnable. Luckily, everything worked fine and the price was reasonable. Still, it seemed like they were understaffed and didn't know much about electronics. So much for a large department store.

Yelp
I still prefer BHV over the other large department stores in Paris. There are crowds, but not the obnoxious tourist crowds of Lafayette. There isn't the snobbery you can encounter at Printemps or Bon Marche. You can buy a toilet seat here. And underwear. And literally anything and everything for your home from sheets and towels, to furniture and bathroom cabinets. I scored a lovely scarf - the pattern is gorgeous and if you look closely there are some "surprises". Definitely something you won't be seeing in the US! Service is kind as well - my friend bought a present for her husband and they wrapped it beautifully for her. If you are spending less than $175 (for tax refunds), show your passport or driving license to receive 10% off most items!

Yelp
My intention was to get back to Gallerie Lafayette when I next visited Paris. But I ran out of time. Found ourselves near the Pompidou Center and while I was rueful that the days were drawing to an end....I looked up... and saw this magnificent frontage. And wondered... What the heck is a Le BHV Marais? Let me just take a peek..... Because you just never know. Well, well well. Le BHV Marais. You are no consolation prize. You are mighty fine edifice filled with fantastic items to keep me busy for a long, loong long time. Woo. Weeeeee. Oui! And even if they don't say it anymore and it is a cliche... "Oooo La. La" I just don't know where to start. Was it 5 or 6 floors? I never finished. I got caught in my favorite purgatory....art suppllies and stationary and pens. And then caught a whiff of the kitchen department. What a beautiful store. Clean exceptionally well lit and with so many items to just enjoy like a museum of items you can buy. Fantabulous. Magnificent. Superlatives that just pale to the quality and care this shopping experience offers. I could not find a flaw in the quality or content of wares. I cannot wait to finish the other floors, one day... one day. Gallerie LaFayette... I have met your worthy rival.

Yelp
Popped in here to buy sunglasses for my sister and an eyeliner for my mom. The store itself is kinda confusing and there's very little service. But we did get everything we needed and it only took 20 minutes. Also free wifi.

Yelp
This is a somewhat overlooked Department store if you are a tourist. Its not flashy like the other big ones but they have a great kitchen/dish-wear/gadgets floor. Some of my favorite thins are their linens, really beautiful and soft linen napkins and table cloths. Worth a stop if you are looking for home goods and gifts, its usually not very crowded, located in a easy to get to location and easy to get in and out of.
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
I may not be the typical tourist. I really liked this department store. It's set up like the classic (American) department stores of old; each floor has different specialties. My favorite is the basement where they have housewares, hardware, tools, electrical supplies, etc. Make no mistake- this is a working department store, not a tourist trap. That said, there is some opportunity for gift shopping here.
google avatar

Alicia M.

Yelp
I stopped by LE BHV MARAIS while in the area. It was a totally different experience from some of the other shopping places I visited such as Printemps Hausmann and Galeries Lafayette. The offerings were more reasonably priced, but that came at the expense of customer service. It was nearly impossible to find someone to assist in certain departments and no one could leave their department for another. It was weird. We decided to leave since we couldn't get assistance in the areas that were needed.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has been a lifesaver when we were traveling. Literally everything we have found ourselves needing, we could purchase there at a fair price. I tell everyone traveling to Paris to put this place on their map, they'll need it! Plus, it is in a fun neighborhood, plenty to see and do.
google avatar

Rita L.

Yelp
Time for some shopping! I actually came by to use their restroom and started shopping here for a bit. It's a big place and there are lots of things to buy. Good place to check out if you want to kill some time. Decor is pretty nice here too.
google avatar

Gloria H.

Yelp
As tourists, we were completely overwhelmed by the abundance of shopping in Paris. There are literally stores everywhere. Every district has either a Herald Sqaure or SoHo vibe, or both! In our desperation, we ended up at Le Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville .. BHV. From the outside, and all the ads, I imagined some kind of Parisian Macy's. I was kind of right, but throw in some magic as well. This place literally has everything. Just the stationary/crafts/gifts department took up almost an entire floor. I just have no words to describe the magic that was their stationary department. We ended doing a lot of our shopping here, and if I go back to Paris, this is probably where i'd go again. We bought things for ourselves as well as gifts. The store has plenty of everything. Note: The men's store is in a separate smaller building across the street from the main store, but the men's shoe/accessories section is pretty good.

Yelp
My go-to department store when I am in the Marais each year; go there almost daily. Across from Hotel de Ville on Rue de Rivoli. Love the fresh variety of fashionable clothes, shoes, accessories, housewares, cards, gifts, electronics, baggage, books, promotions - that I can have a key made or buy light bulbs in the basement, or get nails done at Nail Bar!

steve c.

Yelp
Friendly, but incompetent. Nice selection. Wanted to buy a friend a blouse. She wears an American size Large. You would think someone in the blouse department could make the simple conversion to French sizes. Woman #1: "I am sorry, but everything fits different. Can you bring her here?" Not from Chicago. Woman #2: Here's a jacket in size Large. The blouse I want only has numbers. What would the number be if someone bought this jacket? "Do you have a picture of her?" No. No blouse sale. Picked up a scarf. One size fits all. No one at the scarf register. Go to the next register. "I want to give you money for this scarf". Woman #3: "I'm sorry, but you cannot pay here. You must go to the second floor and find the cashier".

Yelp
I did not get to spend too much time in BHV, but it is a nice department store to look around in to check out some of Paris's fashion. If you are from Canada, think Sears or The Bay! The makeup selection is nice, some products are cheap, and some are expensive. For instance, they sell some drugstore makeup here, like Maybelline. It cost 14 euros for a maybelline mascara!! I found that odd! Large selection of perfumes. I have never been so in love with perfumes until I have traveled to Paris! Nice selection of women apparel and accessories. Customer service is fine!

Laura S.

Yelp
Generally a nice department store with a good selection of items but not a good shopping experience. Unlike every other store of the kind where you can use any till to pay (at least any on the floor you got the products from), here every little "section" has their own till. So you need to disassemble your shopping basket and retrace your steps to find out which area of the floor you got every item from. Beyond exhausting. As everywhere in Paris the staff pretends not to speak English. Figuring you're a dumb tourist they lie to you about what is included in the sales. (Tried to get me to pay full price for an item they had just moved into the -30% off section)
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
If you are looking for those blue French enamel house numbers - this is the place! In my eyes this store is better than Galleries Lafayette and Pritemps - camera wielding space invading rude smelly breath tourists were no where to be found here.
google avatar

Kim N.

Yelp
In an American's terms: IKEA meets Home Depot meets Walmart meets Target. Yeah it's all of those funky places all mixed into one. The fact that there's a Sushi joint next to home and garden supplies cracks me up. 6+ stories of retail madness
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
One the best department stores for interior decor! Large, lots of variety with many French brands. You can get EVERYTHING for your home here, no joke.
google avatar

Yelp
Great personal service from the lovely lady on the Estee Lauder counter recently, much appreciated.

Yelp
The BHV Rivoli, closed by the Hotel de Ville, with a direct entry by underground, is really worth the visit in detail! At the ground floor is paradise-Yourself, moreover space has been redesigned so that the passages and access to other floors are thin. In the story, there are any, given the space! However, the BHV is particularly ran for household and decoration home. As the information technology department, it is imposing and Apple Sellers are good advice! A year ago, men's fashion has found itself at 36, rue de la glassware, at the foot of cruise ship. A nice store, still more affordable than the Spring and Galeries Lafayette.
google avatar

Qype User (scotsa…)

Yelp
Bert's Cafe in the BHV is the newest place to relax. With an unparalled view of Paris, you can enjoy a coffee, snack, light meal, dessert or a drink. Note: Enter for this destination through the passage at 12, rue du Temple or through BHV Homme on the rue de Verrerie. Wonderful.a must see! '(¿)

Yelp
I had just finished a pastry cooking class down the street and was planning to catch the bus back home, when I decided to stop into BHV. Little did I know they had a nice sale going on. An hour later, I walked out with a pair of flats (€45), 2 dresses (€65), work jacket (€30), trench coat (€80), and 2 picture frames (€15). I received between 40-50% off each item. I really do like BHV. They have a large selection of products in (I believe) 7 floors.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
You can find almost anything you would ever need in BHV - and if you're an American who speaks only rudimentary French who needs to buy light bulbs, this is where you should go. The staff are incredibly helpful, even with language barriers (anyone who says the French are rude probably assunes that they all speak English and refuses to even try to communicate any other way). I always stop in to get fun gifts to being back, and have even thrown a bathroom fixture or two into the mix.
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
This store has everything. Plus everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful. The best part is the basement. There you'll find everything from cleaning products to paint to lightbulbs. It's easy to get sidetracked down there.

Yelp
We stumbled into this amazing department store as we were walking back from visiting an art museum. We ended up going in side and spending several hours. Fun, Fun Fun! If Macys, Target, Home Depot and Victoria's Secret all mated and had a baby... BVH would be the off spring. We ended up buying lots of gifts for family and friends here. Interesting stuff, low prices. Plus, we stayed and had lunch here at the cafeteria on the top floor. Good food too! There are several legendary department stores in Paris. Visit those for sure. If you are a budget traveler save your money in order to spend it here. Metro station: Hôtel de Ville

Yelp
My Mom and my sister LOOOOOOVED this BHV. It was very convenient for me because I would drop them off here for hours and they were perfectly content to walk around a stupid department store while I went through the shops in le Marais. By proxy, I also LOVE BHV because it bought me nearly 2 days of personal time on a family vacation. Things they sell here: - cashmere sweaters - charm bracelets - sunglasses - books and dvds - paints (for painting walls and for painting canvasses) - cabinet handles - sandwiches - hammers and drills - luggage - light fixtures - figurines and action figures (a HUGE collection of figurines) - women's clothing The good: - you can drop your mother off here and leave her unattended for hours - you can buy pretty much anything here except men's clothing (there is a different BHV for that) and lumber - the operating hours are longer than most places in Paris - when I paid with my credit card it allowed me to process the transaction in wither Euros or Canadian Dollars, which was cool since I knew the exchange that day and could pick a more favorable option. The bad: - les toilettes are not acceptable - there are 3 stalls in the ladies room for a 7 story department store and they are on the 5th floor. They are dirty and in the landing of the staircase (seriously). - no shoe section. My Mom was devastated. I would shop here again. Especially if I forgot something on a trip to Paris (like a voltage converter or underwear... you could get both here).
google avatar

Emma W.

Yelp
Huge! What don't they have here... There's even several options for restaurants and cafeteria. Lots of choices for clothes. Arranged by brands so its like shopping in mini stores in this department store. Lots to browse through. Many floors to look through. There is even a gourmet food aisle. Although I am a bit skeptical about that... More like novelties maybe... Good place to great lost if you are tired of the hustle and bustle outside...
google avatar

Mathew N.

Yelp
One of my favorite stops for a little snack whenever I have seen my fare of museums or need to rest before hitting up the museums again. You go up and up and up and then there is a restaurant area. For rows and rows and rows, nothing but old French people. No foreigners or few... just a bunch of old French people. Perhaps it is the view that entices them or the lack of tourists, but it is worth it. Inexpensive cafeteria food along with gelato. If you want to save a pretty penny for your shopping and get a nice view of the city, this is worthwhile. If you want to spend all your money on fine dining, then don't go here.
google avatar

Melissa K.

Yelp
3.25 stars A-ha! And you thought you could hide from me you sneaky everything-in-one-place-just-like-in-the-states store! But no! I found you. I am victorious! Are you a cute little shop that one daydreams of going to in Paris? Nope. Are there off-beat and unique thing to buy? Of course not! But, are you a delightful mix of Target and Macy's all rolled into one? Bien sur! And oh how you made my American somewhat-homesick heart happy. There are like 50 choices for everything! Can I tell you how much I've missed being overwhelmed by choices? Okay, not a lot. But, it was nice to pretend while I gazed upon the thousands of sticker options. Ahhh, stickers.
google avatar

Zeva B.

Yelp
When in doubt head to BHV. 99.99% of the time they have what you're looking for (unless that thing is a helium tank). Seriously, from obscure handy man stuff to designer lingerie, mattresses and refrigerators, it's hard not to find what you need at BHV, though it's frequently a hell house with everyone and their mother squishing and pushing past you in a mad chaotic scramble to buy whatever they're looking for. I do really love this place, but for some reason the non-intuitive layout seems to bring out the worst in people (which is saying something in Paris!). Just one word of advice, if you have a stroller, factor in an additional hour since you'll have to take the elevator which is the size of a closet and always full.
google avatar

Nathalie L.

Yelp
My husband needed a notebook with graph paper so we randomly stopped in BHV with fingers crossed. Much to my delight, there was a whole floor of stationery. In addition to the notebook, I found Christmas cards (in French!) and gift wrap. Honestly I could have spent much more time browsing but someone was huffing and puffing about seeing the Notre Dame. Like really? Sure, it's a medieval Catholic church and among one of the first buildings to use the flying buttress but there are so many more things to look at...like penguin stickers! Glittery pens! Confetti the size of my head!
google avatar

Frank C.

Yelp
Beautifully laid out French department store...Displays are clean and bright!
google avatar

Marie G.

Yelp
Very large department store in Paris and quite trendy too! It has many levels and lots of things to choose from including clothes, electronics, make up, bags, perfumes etc! There is also a cafe on the top floor. We went during July - massive sales which was a nice bonus! They also have free wifi if you need it!
google avatar

Debby L.

Yelp
Fun department store. It's expensive but not as bad as Galleries Lafayette. This one is close to my apartment so whenever I need to just walk around a warmer atmosphere than Rue de Rivoli. They have top brand women's clothing, leggings, purses, and make up on the first floor. Other floors have home appliances, shoes, everything you may need for home. The mens is on the same street, across the way, and there is even BHV helmet store around the corner to get your protection gear for the moped!
google avatar

A V.

Yelp
I have a love hate relationship with the BHV They have everything you will ever need all in one perfectly located fabulously organized store You will find art supples, books, lacey underwear and power drills unde one roof in the very center of paris. But you pay chèr for this convenience as the shopping experience is extraordinarily maddening hell With multiple steps, receipts and frustrating interactions along the way. This store is so French, so frustrating and therein lays part of the allure Exhausting but somehow worthwhile Ps go for BHV brand "absolute maison" or go during SOLDES if you are buying linens
google avatar

Scarlet L.

Yelp
I like this place! Staff say hello and are generally pretty nice and most speak English!
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
This is an absolutely gorgeous store if you're in the midst to stroll through some of the best mid-level retail you'll find outside of Galleries Lafayette. Me? i just needed to get some fans since it had started to warm up and my apartment, still in the throes of winter, was woefully unprepared. Not only did they have the little fan tower I wanted (slim profile), but the clerk spotted me as someone who probably didn't have a car and put both packages in a zip tied carry case for me - awesome.
google avatar

Saralee S.

Yelp
The French are so polite!!!! I inquired at a housewares store about finding a "chose qui fait de l'eau chaud," or a thing which makes water hot, since I did not yet know the word for a thermoplongeur. The proprietor informed me that there was a store across from the Hotel de Ville, which would have one. We skeptically, but optimistically, walked in and found a massive subterranean hardware section downstairs, and eventually inquired and learned that what we sought might be on the third floor. We made our way past fashion lingerie, luggage, and housewares to a promising section for travel that had previously held the item, but a search revealed only bare shelves. After inspecting every kind of tea and coffee device, we did find an electric kettle for only 19.00 Euro, and short stint in line, procured my new coffee maker. I even chatted in line with other customers about their purchases, a happy and budget conscious crowd!
google avatar

Chad C.

Yelp
I went here after reading the reviews and didn't like anything here. I felt like I wasted my time here. I couldn't even find men's clothes. Bah
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
What I really want to do is add BHV to the watch battery repair selection for Paris because it's a quick, easy, relatively cheap place to get your watch battery replaced in downtown Paris. A relative steal at 10 euros and the staff obviously knows what they're doing. But since I'm here, I'll add that BHV seems to be a fine department store for whatever you might need, be it a pair of tights, a nice new tie (across the street at BHV L'homme), a dictionary, a juicer, or a can of paint. Staff is friendly and helpful too.

Melissa S.

Yelp
Worth the visit! Much prefer the service here than Bon Marche. Excellent assortment of merchandise.
google avatar

Margret L.

Yelp
I prefer this to the other department stores. You can buy so much more here than just clothes, which there is a good solid collection of quality french brands like Kooples, Claudie Pierlot, and Sandro.Yet, I actually come here because they've a great selection of quality art and craft supplies (paints, sewing, knitting, home decor, home repair). Bought my blow dryer here and coffee press too. I also like their book store and office supplies. They're also open late on Saturday.

Yelp
Le BHV Marais is located in Le Marais district and is an iconic landmark Parisian department store. Le BHV, which stands for Bazar de l' Hôtel de Ville, was founded in 1856 and recently celebrated its 160th Birthday. The laid-back store is part of the Groupe Galeries Lafayette. The store seemingly offers everything (beauty, housewares, appliances, ready-to-wear, food, restaurants, sportswear, and DIY hardware) but it feels like a Galeries Lafayette store with centralized cash-wraps with extremely long lines of customers (especially on Sundays) and there are only a few sales associates working the sales floor. The men's store is in a separate building. The store is the first department store in the city to open every Sunday. They offer a 10% discount (not all of the associates are willing to take the time to do the transaction) to international clients living both inside and outside of the EU (must show ID.) www.bhv.fr

Qype User (ParisM…)

Yelp
Great department store in Paris just opposite the Hotel de Ville. The store is actually spread over 2 or 3 blocks of the Marais district, with a seperate men's fashion store (BHV Homme), cafe etc etc. Whilst not as upmarket as Galleries Lafyette, Aux Printemps, Le Bon Marche etc, it is slightly cheaper. Others have compared it to BHS or Debenhams but with such a massive and varied range of goods on offer, I'd liken it to one of John Lewis' bigger stores with a CD/DVD and book store plus Waitrose thrown in. For one thing, Parisians seem to love it - you tend to see people with BHV carrier bags everywhere BHV Homme is more like House of Fraser with four floors of top designer clothing ranging from average to high end prices. Good place to pick up that seemingly de rigeur item for Parisian males - the man bag.
google avatar

Qype User (aaro…)

Yelp
BHV is a medium sized Parisean department store. It seemed to have the obligatory handbags, womens' fashion on the ground floor, homewares on the middle floors, and technology at the top (why is that the model for almost all stores?). The Nintendo games area is great as it has lots of games that the UK is out of e.g. Wii fit, mario kart for wii and they are cheaper than England! The ground floor is currently being renovated so beware the builders and construction.

Yelp
Worst service ever. Humiliating security check. After having spent over EUR1000 at the store, my wife and 3 year old daughter on a stroller got stopped by a security guard because her bag beeped at those magnetic detectors at the exit. The security guard was not satisfied to be shown the receipts and wanted her to take every single item out of her bags and check one by one. At this point I told him he was crossing the line and asked for the manager to show up. Instead of the store manager, they called the security manager, who did nothing but reinforce their procedure. We were forced to lay down every single item of purchase on the floor while he checked. Many customers passed by and looking at us with lots of stuff on the floor, the most embarrassing situation I've ever been. After realizing it was their incompetence for not having removed the tags on many products (which the security chief supposedly addressed by removing the tags as he inspected our belongings), we were dismissed without any compensation or any decent apology for the humiliating event. But unfortunately it was not over yet. After having been let go by security, I still had to go to the tax refund counter on their across the street building (I am not a French national and as such I'm entitled to a tax refund). Upon exit, their alarms went on again (see above, security was supposed to have removed them by now!) and another guard came on wanting to inspect the bags again! I started laughing because it could only be a joke, only that it wasn't. The guy firmly advanced his hands on my bags. I was just about to have a nervous breakdown when some employee who had presences the original mess rushed in and asked the guy to let go, which he reluctantly did. This is by far the very worst, most customer aggressive security policy I have ever seen in my life. I swear to God that were I not on precious vacation time, I would have pressed this company for moral damages. I won't ever be touching this place again. My family and I have never been humiliated this way and it is clearly a widespread company policy to act on customers just like that.
