If haven't heard by now, there are new owners. For lots of old regulars, they don't like new. This has led to some furious reviews.
As with anything new, there will be some growing pains, some getting used to. I immediately noticed when we walked in the ambiance was completely different. No more old school Sinatra music and pictures of musicians on the wall. The interior is now black. Black walls, black tablecloths (no more red and whites), and everyone wearing aloha uniforms.
For me, the food hasn't changed that much from the previous owners. I think they have kept it pretty much the same. I would have to go back and compare menu prices, but I have a feeling costs are a little higher.
I believe they are going for a step higher than the old restaurant in terms of ambiance and service. They are using all new plating and silverware, even the water jugs have gotten upgrades. Surprisingly, the drink cups have shrank to half size. Your water cups are now the same size as the kiddie cups. That may be good for long term waste of water, but it also means double the trips of staff needing to walk around and refill.
I must add that with the new plates, the plating does looks better than before. This isn't hard to do, when everything was Pizza Hut plastic before, but it definitely was presented better now.
Speaking of staff. When we went, they were clearly and extraordinarily understaffed. This was made clear when we sat down. There was one waitress taking care of the whole place. And the waitress is actually one of the owners. She was good, but severely overwhelmed.
The greeter was also very very green, so there were things that were making her a little overwhelmed as well.
I sincerely hope they get some staff hired and trained, to alleviate some of that pressure on the owner. Once they get used to running it, I think it will be as smooth as it ever was.
Hopefully everyone who has sworn them off will come back and give it another shot. I know we will in a few months. Hopefully everything will be well oiled by then.
