"Nothing to Do but Relax Less than half a mile from the port in Padang Bai is the small but perfectly formed Bias Tugel beach. The years have been kind to this beach, and despite the beginnings of developments on the cliffs overlooking the beach, it has remained quiet. The sand is clean and soft, and a number of small cafes serve simple food and cold drinks. Some people may be put off by the walk down to the beach, which is quite steep (and is a bit of a haul going the other way after a day in the sun and a couple of beers), but it's absolutely worth the effort to get away from the crowds. The undertow can be very strong here so even the strongest swimmers should be careful and children should be watched closely. Padang Bai is about an hour from Ubud or closer to two hours from Kuta & Seminyak depending on traffic."

Beautiful white sand beach, with very clear blue water. The waves are biggish but the tide pushes you towards the shore (or it did when I went), so I believe it to be safe, just don’t swim too far out. If you can swim at all, it should be totally fine. There are people with snorkels and I believe there’s fish slightly further out. 10k entry per person, collected as you drive in. Then you have to walk down a number of steps and turn left for the beach. Then it’s a few minutes downhill walk over some roots/rocky bits, but it’s not too difficult. The beach itself is so quiet, we were there from 11:30-3pm and considering how wonderful it is, I expected far more people. We rented a sunbed for 35k pp. Toilet facilities aren’t nice but that’s just how they are and it’s nothing shocking to me, given I’ve been travelling a while. They are squat toilets also. A lady sells grilled and salted corn cobs for 25k a pop and they are delicious! There’s also several restaurant/shops/stalls. I only encountered one beach seller and they did not pester us for long or return. Perhaps there are more on weekends, but we came on a Monday and only encountered the one - no big deal. The water is clear and nice and cold - but not too cold. It’s very refreshing and I believe it’s the best beach on Bali mainland.

I recently visited this beach that left me with mixed impressions. The entrance fee was 10,000 Indonesian Rupiah per person, which seemed reasonable at first, but our experience with payment was frustrating. After handing over 100,000 Rupiah for two people, the attendant only returned 70,000, shortchanging us by 10,000. It felt like an attempt to cheat, which dampened the mood right at the start. Swimming was challenging due to strong waves, making it less ideal for those looking for a relaxing dip. The beach itself was somewhat dirty, which detracted from the natural beauty. Additionally, the proximity to a local port made the surroundings less scenic and more industrial. As a foreigner, I found the atmosphere a bit overwhelming. Locals were constantly trying to sell items or push us to rent a chaise lounge, leaving little room for relaxation. The lack of electricity in the area was also inconvenient, as it meant no card payments or options for charging phones. While the beach has some potential, the combination of poor maintenance, pushy vendors, and lack of basic facilities made it less enjoyable. The entrance fee and the attempted shortchanging added to the negative experience. I wouldn't recommend it unless improvements are made in cleanliness, transparency, and facilities.

10 k entry fee but it is a nice beach 🏖️ we also paid 50k for two sun chairs ☀️🪑 You can go snorkeling but there is not really a coral reef 🪸 But still many fish and I even saw a 🐢 When we were there the waves and currents were quite strong, so be careful🌊 There are a lot of ships and ferries sailing past which ruins the vibe a bit, but also gives you something to look at ⛴️ There is a bit of trash in the water but compared to other places it is not bad 🗑️ Also the local sellers are a bit too aggressive 🥵

Warung Erna is located at the very end from the entrance. They don't hard-sell you stuff like the others do. Had noodle soup with veggies for 35k, grilled barracuda with 2 sets of rice for 130k. Good food, good beach, good weather. That's all we need to have a good day 💚

It was a like a small escape from the crowds of new year. Took us 1h20m driving motorbike from Ubud to get here, but was a very easy nice road. Just wear helmets, drive safe, appropriate speed and be cautious. When I went there it was just a few people, rainy season but was nicely quick pour rain then bright again. It was quite wavy tho sometimes a bit tooo strong. Entrance fee is 10k (i go beginning of jan 2025) We settled down at one of the last restaurants, the old lady offered us 25k for 1 sun bench only plus 2 drinks ranged ~25-30k. So be aware of overpriced benches at the front entrance. Happy Holiday🌸
