B.I.B - Better in Bethel Restaurant

Food of C.

Google
One of my new favorite Bethel spots! My mom and I visited for a nice dinner together, and we loved how they decorated the restaurant for the holidays. They had creative seasonal dishes on the menu, and we were impressed with everything that we had! Very attentive staff as well, with dishes arriving quickly from the kitchen. They’ve brought a lot of character to this former opera house! We will definitely be back.

Thank you BIB for a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner. All our seafood was delicious. Started with Maine oysters & crispy calamari with spicy aioli & shrimp cocktail. All very fresh & crisp. Dinner of broiled cod over chickpeas & tomato sauce, light flavorful & cooked perfectly.

Wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Appreciated that the kids food arrived quickly and there was no trouble securing high chairs. The steak and ribs my wife and I had were cooked perfectly. Will have to come back!

Google
Food quality / price (value) rating 8.5. The atmosphere is eclectic. The menu is continental cuisine. I had the Lemon Chicken - two breast filets sauteed with a breadcrumb coating and served with a lemon butter sauce and grilled vegetables. They have a Happy Hour from 3 to 6 pm Monday through Fridays, where drinks are 30% off. Service was very good. We also sampled a unique "chocolate wine" that is made in house. Everything was pretty good.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The service was attentive without being intrusive—every detail was handled perfectly. The food was nothing short of amazing—each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell the chefs take pride in their work and use only the freshest ingredients. Everything we tried was delicious! If you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers both top-notch service and unforgettable food, this is the place. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Just left BIB and I HAVE to write a review. The service, food, and staff were all spectacular!!! Also it’s beautiful inside. We got the quinoa salad bowl, smash tacos, burger, and dessert. Definitely will be going back!!!

We tried this latest version of a restaurant inhabiting the old Opera House in downtown Bethel, which has changed names/menus/identities several times since the old Greenwood's closed. We were hopeful the new place would pivot away from the succession of short-lived eateries with expensive, pretentious menus trying to create an "experience." The service was very good. The place wasn't terribly crowded so there was no wait for seating. They have a full bar and a pretty interesting cocktail menu but the draft beer selection is limited and fairly generic. For our meal we started with the Tex Mex Brussels Nachos. (Yeah, I know.) But they were tasty. They were not, however, nachos. They were 6 or 7 seasoned brussels sprouts, some onions and a sprinkle of beans piled on half a dozen tortilla chips. For $15. From there we went on to entrees - a burger and a chicken sandwich. The burger was pretty good. The chicken sandwich was... unremarkable. Not bad. Not anything in particular. Honestly, the chicken sandwich kind of sums up our experience overall. Not bad, but not something we'd be in a hurry to try again given the expense.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance and service! Definitely worth a visit. The wait staff was terrific, attentive but not intrusive.

Yelp
Third time at BIB since they opened and they keep blowing us away with their amazing food and cocktail creations! Finally ordered the corn ribs everyone is raving about - and they are indeed an absolute standout dish! Buttery and well seasoned with just the right amount of zesty, creamy sauce. Will have to order them all the time from now on!!! The pineapple summer salad is huge even without the decorative elements, and pairs excellently with some grilled shrimp. The special basil martini is true summer decadence as well - silky and perfectly chilled, with a cute little basil leaf as decoration.

Yelp
Overall a decent experience marred by a really really bad chicken sandwich. The service was great, inside is nicely decorated, and our shrimp starter was good. We shared the chicken parm on focaccia with a side Caesar and they brought us two full side Caesars with no up charge. The chicken sandwich itself was horrible. Focaccia dry and crumbly. The chicken cutlet was not crispy or flavorful. The vodka sauce lacked any flavor and the burrata added to the blandness. I think they need to go back to the drawing board with this sandwich. I'd be willing to come back and try something else.

Yelp
Visited back to back nights opening week - if that doesn't convince you, I don't know what will! The bar and interior dining rooms are beautifully decorated with dark green, natural lighting and modern rustic decor. Even though it was packed and their first week open, the staff was on point. Super attentive, great recommendations and receptive to any feedback. The restaurant has special offerings: Happy Hour (M-F 3-6pm 30% off apps and drinks), Ladies Night (BOGO drinks Wednesday nights starting 6pm), Executive Lunch (M-F 11:30a-2pm $29 pre fixe). I tried the B.I.B Kobe Beef Burger (MUST TRY), Corn Ribs (MUST TRY), Ribbon Bowl, Tex Mex Brussel Nachos, Salted caramel affogato, The Better Martini, Rosa Sbagliato, and The Pomarita (MYST TRY). I can't wait to work my way through the whole menu!

Yelp
Consistently good food, friendly staff. Beautifully decorated for all right now. The family special for take out is a good value for what you get.

Yelp
Came in at 8 after seeing a movie. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Brussel spot nachos were surprisingly good. Wife had the tuna bowl with the tuna being well prepared. I was full from movie popcorn. Nice place.

Yelp
B.I.B. - interesting name - turned out to be better than we expected. All the entrees that our group ordered - Lemon Chicken, Tuna Bowl, and Halibut - were very tasty, with large portions (but not so large that we had anything left over to take home, which was ok!) and nicely presented. Good value for money, too. The restaurant itself remains largely unchanged from the Edison Kitchen, with the exception of the removal of a few booths in the back room, which have been replaced by tables. The restaurant was surprisingly busy at 5:30 on a hot Sunday afternoon, as was the bar. This is nice to see for a new entrant on the food scene in Bethel. Service was a little tentative. Wait staff seemed to be so intent on performing their jobs properly that they forgot to smile and engage with the customers. I'm assuming that these are just growing pains and will improve over time. Overall, a very nice experience.

Yelp
My husband and I had the family feast from the giveaway they ran on Facebook. We were impressed by the amount of food and quality, so we had friends over a few days later for another one. We are very excited to try dining in soon!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Excellent food and atmosphere. Better in Bethel is a new gem right in the heart of Bethel with great choices of food and drinks.

Jessica S.

Yelp
We have purchased the family feast twice now. It is a great deal, what we did notice though is that the portion sizes have gone a bit down in size. the pasta amount isn't ideal compared to the amount of the chicken and salad, that would be my only complaint. otherwise, a good deal and we will probably order it again if we're feeling lazy

Mark F.

Yelp
Came in today for lunch. We shared the fried avocado slices, my wife had the Ribbon Bowl and added a piece of Salmon, and I had the Barbacoa Tacos. Absolutely delicious...everything. Huge servings, brought a bunch home. AND, the service was top notch...really pleasant, professional, and their timing was perfect. It's such a great space too. Cannot recommend B.I.B. enough.

Carol R.

Yelp
Chose one of the burgers on the menu and it was delicious! Very generous portion. The downside for me is the dining area is small with many tables and adjoins the bar area so at busiest times it is quite noisy.

Chris T.

Yelp
First time time eating there , it took an hour plus wait to get one of 3 apps we ordered and another 30 min for the next 2 and then another 45 min plus for the entrees was a bit ridiculous . Maybe they were having a bad night in the kitchen, but explain that to our table instead of just making us wait there wondering what's going on . Food not worth the wait.
