Little Brazil’s Ipanema Returns to Manhattan | The New Yorker

"More satisfying still was lunch a week later, at the daytime-only café within the restaurant called Bica, which is shorthand for the Portuguese equivalent of an espresso (and an acronym, some say, for 'beba isto com açúcar,' meaning 'drink it with sugar'). Here are the coxinhas, the pastéis de nata (Portuguese egg tarts), the pão de queijo, gently blistered, chewy cassava-flour-and-cheese rolls ubiquitous in Brazil." - Hannah Goldfield

The pastel de nata are absolutely magnificent. These are proper Portoguese pastries!! I have been craving these for years. Going back later to get more for tea. They taste just like the pastel in Lisbon. There are also really lovely people working there ❤️ They also have an adjoining restaurant with Portuguese and Brazilian food. Can't wait to try the piri piri chicken...

This Brazilian/Portuguese cafe is amazingly unique and memorable. So amazing, I didn't take a picture of the egg sandwich and coxinha because I was too busy gobbling down. Their cold brew uses Tonka bean, which gives it a great vanilla/cinnamon taste. Oh, the staff is super nice and friendly as well. Apparently there's a restaurant and bar in the evening, so definitely will return to check it out.

Really really good pastries. Pricey, but the pastal de nata probably the best I’ve had. First time I came tho, service was super slow. Also recommend the cream cheese guava danish. Very well baked

Went there in the morning for coffee and breakfast, cause their menu has breakfast sandwiches. The store told me their kitchen didn't open until 10 am. In NYC? As a café place which offers sandwiches, but doesn't open until 10 am? The coffee is absolutely disaster. Taste nothing like a coffee, but a deluded oat milk, I asked skim milk they said they don't have that option. Only thing good is the pastel de nada. Not sure will go back again, but the store really needs a proper training on their staffs, and a better working schedule for running a cafe here.

Was hoping to get brunch here and realized they weren’t open for brunch! Amazing little cafe though! Loved the pao de queijo & fresh juice

Cute little cafe serving Portuguese and Brazilian food in midtown. I tried the ham and cheese sandwich which was served warm (and very tasty) and the duck croquettes which I really liked. Not usually a fan of iced coffee but it was very good and the Pastel de Nata was nice and flakey. A nice addition to the midtown lunch scene! Curious to try their bowls (they have hot and cold ones) next time. There seems to be a restaurant portion of the business opening later this month.

I did not stop to eat at the restaurant, only came in for “on the go” items. The guava pastry is absolutely delicious. I ordered the coxinhas (chicken) and had to wait about 15 minutes to get them, which is fine, but probably should be an item that can be grabbed to go? I was disappointed the coxinhas were as small as they were, considering the price. I’m *very* familiar with Brazilian cuisine and even for the city, this seemed very expensive for what you got. They were decent and the aioli dip was nice.

Delicious and convenient. Friendly service, perfect coffee and amazing pastries. The garlic/rosemary focaccia bread was on another level. They even let my kids and I sit and enjoy, despite the full restaurant being closed until dinner time. 10/10 would return.
