On the Grid : Bicentennial Park

"This public park has 7 acres of beautiful green grass and large mature trees, which makes it an oasis in the middle of the desert. It's nestled between a quiet residential area and the historic Bureau of Reclamation building, it offers a nice vantage point to see both downtown Boulder City, and Lake Mead (on the other side of the building). Bring a a frisbee and enjoy a low-key picnic here." - jmagsgraphics

This park is beautiful and so relaxing. Love coming here every now and then with our sons when time allows. Just to enjoy the area and the atmosphere is so tranquil and the weather is perfect today.

Pretty, little park in the center of Boulder City, near city hall. Nice place to take a stroll with your dog. There is a small playground nearby

This park is the heart of BC. So many family and town memories and events happy here. As a family that volunteers with the BC Chamber I would highly recommend this park to all. Photo's below are of our annual Spring Jamboree hosted the first weekend of May every year by the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce.

Yelp
March 1, 1936 marked the date Hoover Dam was completed. Boulder City provided the main source of transportation and communication routes A median route between the five major industries vested into the project. Decades later the quiet area was still considered a place off the grid. In 1977 Boulder City began its first publicly invited event. The Spring Jamboree. Perhaps coinciding with the 200 year anniversary of the American Constitution the previous year. More so being the event was held at Boulder City's Bicentennial Park. Because if a person or group of persons wish to remain isolated. It can be an easier task than recruiting outsiders. It seemed the time was right for the residents of BC. The annual festival continues to grow with each year passing. A coexistence that once served only for the greater good. Turned out to be a good thing after all.

Yelp
Stars are in comparison to Las Vegas parks which are filled with the homeless and drug abusers. It's so beautiful and green. Sitting in the shade of the large trees Can take you to another time and place where your troubles melt away! This old time park is well maintained and is the site of many festivals. *Wanna get away?

Yelp
No complaints at all! Didn't spend too much time here as it was a quick stop for our pups to get out of the car after 5 hour drive. Nice green grass, nice human bathrooms. Play area for kids. Shade and seating. Great stop for us a little off highway but worth it for a nice safe spot.

Yelp
Love this park! It has that small town charm. I've come to appreciate it even more now that I've been part of a wedding ceremony and reception here. The entire park was able to be rented out and closed down for the afternoon to late evening wedding. It held 100+ guests easily, there are few restrictions, there's a gazebo you can use, there's outlets to run electrical equipment, park is lighted at night, you have full control on your caterers and vendors, they dont tact on extra fees either like other places did. AND your pets are welcomed. That was important to the bride, that her dog was included in her wedding. The park is surrounded by a quiet neighborhood. Very little traffic flows through here. Well manicured lawn, lots of open space, mature trees. Across the way this park's landscape has gentle rolling hills and lush lawn overlooking the park which made it perfect for photo ops. Ample parking. There are two parking lots adjacent to park. The city workers were so excited that a wedding was booked here. They were real helpful thru the planning stages as far as going over the details like checking for lights etc. They helped having it clean and ready to go the day of the wedding. They even offered to have the place coned off but opted not to. An expensive equipment was left behind after everybody had left but the morning after the park employees found it and turned it in. Many annual events are held here throughout the year so dates available are limited especially if you want the whole park for more than 4 hours. So call for availability and book at least 5 months advance.

Yelp
Love this little park. Went here yesterday with my sisters (7/10/11) to let my youngest sister run some steam off after our horrific dinner at Big Horn Restaurant, right up the street. This place doesn't feel like Nevada. It's so green and lush - it feels very small town America. They don't have a ton of toys to play on, but my sister was digging the tire swing. She's 5 and said, "I'll wait here on this swing while you go pick up (our brother) from the lake. He needs to come swing with me." Ha, we didn't do that, but at least it was a fun little park.

Yelp
Talk about a time capsule! Take a stroll through the quaint little town of Boulder and all the way up past the tiny main drag is the park of your black & white movie dreams. If you are planning on going to the Hoover Dam I would recommend packing a picnic or grabbing some drive through and enjoying the scenery here first. Perfect for flying kites, playing stick-ball, tag-yer-it or any other activities that may be fun in Mayberry. There is a small playground and a large hilly grass field with old park benches. A huge generator cog is placed at the front and you can read some of the history of "Boulder Dam" on plaques placed around. Just over the hill is a nice little peek of Lake Mead. My favorite little free park in Nevada.

Yelp
A beautiful park with a great place to lounge out on the grass and read a boom or just enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Minutes from the Hoover dam and just out of downtown Boulder City make this beautiful park easily accessible to all.
