Biekes Bistro

Went here for dinner on the recommendation of the golf cart rental person. Was not super impressed with the place, the atmosphere is okayish and food was also not too great. Service was also not great, while the one serving our table was good, one other waitress was very cold in her behavior. It definitely did not feel great for the price they charge.

This place was pretty good. We got the pork chop, the meat turnover and the meat paella. It was not amazing, but good. The service was good and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the perfect weather.

Food was good & tasted fresh. Portion size was good & feel full. Got the fish tacos & grilled chicken with rice & beans. Unfortunately, no mojitos tonight.

We chose this restaurant based on a couple of strong recommendations, but unfortunately our experience was thoroughly disappointing. The service was especially poor—our server seemed far more interested in sitting and eating with other staff than in taking care of guests. Our plates were cleared but we were never asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert - we were just left sitting there. The check never arrived until we specifically requested it, and even then it felt like an inconvenience. Adding to the frustration, several items were unavailable. They were out of mojitos entirely, and even hot sauce was rationed to a tiny cup. It didn’t help that the canned beverages we received were dirty on top, which made the experience feel careless. As for the food, the tacos were the one redeeming item—fresh and flavorful. However, the beef empanadas were extremely dry and served without any sauce, making them difficult to enjoy. Overall, we felt ignored and unwelcome. If you’re a tourist looking for good food and hospitable service, I would recommend passing on this spot. The unfriendly atmosphere and lack of attention made it a visit we won’t repeat.

I am shocked that this costs $57. Plus tax and tips it's almost $70. Food is fine. Maybe there's better options to have in here.

Went out for a late dinner upon arriving in Vieques. The Bistro was uncrowded at that time and traffic minimal, making our spot on the deck a real treat. The food - tacos and a hamburger - were good and the vibe great. A truly Viequenese spot, which we prefer. That’s a major distinction on the island, as there are many spots where staff are primarily expats. We enjoy those places too, but prefer to support the people who make this quirky island what it is, and this place has that feel.

This was probably my favorite meal in my visit to Vieques. The beef Pastelillos are a necessity for an appetizer along with some of their house made hot sauce. I ordered the fried chicken tacos which were absolutely delicious and my wife ordered the full fried snapper with plantains. The drinks were great the food was great and it was in a convenient location from the ferry . I highly recommend giving it a try.

Fast service and great food! The drinks were great too, but they were out of a few ingredients (for both food and drinks). We got the mafongo (with steak and chicken) as well as some grouper tacos. This was our first time trying mafongo and it was very delicious (steak better than chicken), but I would say that the grouper tacos stole the show. Overall would recommend you try both!

Simply amazing chicken rice soup. got some beautiful tostones alongside of it as well. the flavors on the soup were very poignant and the chicken was cooked well and tender. our waitress was really nice and served us quickly and efficiently. only small thing about this place is that you have to pay for water so that's a little bit of a downer. Bathrooms are clean but the soap was out when I went.

Excellent food, nice staff and good vibes. Would recommend stopping by and getting the tacos or the churriasco

This is a solid dining option for Puerto Rican food (e.g., fish tacos, rice and beans) in a congested area of Isabel Segunda. I would strongly recommend getting their desserts (e.g, flan, red velvet cake) to go if they're on display as these were excellent carry-out items that we devoured back at the AirBnB place. Outdoor seating at Bieke's Bistro was a nice option even with the traffic noise from the main street. Prices were reasonable compared to other high-end restaurants on the island of Vieques. The one major downside was the waiting time and slow service. I don't know if the kitchen was short-staffed or we had a particularly slow waitress due to a shift change, but what should have been a 1-hour dinner became a 2-hour waiting time nightmare. Another party at the next table got up and departed because of the poor service. Would recommend picking up a dessert item "to-go" from here, but unless you're willing to wait for a long time, I would definitely go somewhere else (particularly if you are traveling with young children or teenagers). For example, the Mamma Mia across the street has excellent pizza which is ready in 20 minutes and can be taken "to go". We did this on the following night and my two teenage sons appreciated not having to wait again for 90 minutes for our appetizer and main entrees to arrive.

Good service, good atmosphere and good food! The veggie burger is vegan and very filling, it's convenient and extremely reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!

First the good, and that was the service. Our waiter was very attentive so on that end no complaints. But on the food end, it fell down flat. My wife ordered Bistec encebollado, I the steak Milanese. We were then told no steak available. I then ordered the chicken Milanese and my wife the Churrasco. The chicken was tender but no flavor at all, required lots of Pike! My wife's Churrasco was gristly!! We ordered the habichuela. No taste except for salt!!. This is the reason for the 2 star. I'm not sure how Yelp can have this location ranked #1...

Good dinner, good drinks, fair prices. Cazuela was amazing. Pork chop was eh, should have ordered something else. It was fine, but not special. Fried cheese with guava was a good starter and the blue Long Island was strong and tasty. Would come back, and stick with fish and local dishes.

Upon a couple of local recommendations and Yelp, I chose Bieke's Bistro for dinner last Wednesday night. It is located very close to two other popular Isabel II restaurants Casa Nativo which is two doors down and across the street from Mamma Mia's. Bieke's only has a couple of parking spaces in front other than that it's street parking where you can find it. Inside there is a bar/dining room with another adjoining dining room that connects to a covered outdoor patio out front. It sounds like a big restaurant but really isn't. My choice for dinner that night was shrimp pasta (penne) with a rosado sauce for $19. They also offered a marinara and alfred sauce too. The meal arrived about 15 minutes later. It was exactly as advertised in its medium size bowl. There were several large shrimp with the penne all slathered in the rosado. I thought the taste of the meal was very good as judged primarily by the sauce. I like a good rose sauce in this type of meal and this one was fine. My only little gripe is that the shrimp had their tails on which means I had to cut them off. Oh well, first world problems... The table service was very good by my waiter. I would be happy to return and believe this is a solid choice for a good meal while in Vieques. They are open for lunch too.

Amazing spot walking distance from my Airbnb stay on Vieques! While the drinks were fabulous, I had an octopus and plantain appetizer (that I can't seem to find on the online menu?) that was an absolute standout. One of my favorite dishes from Puerto Rico outside of mofongo!

My family and I wanted some authentic Puerto Rican food and were not disappointed with this meal. The first time we came here, they were out of half of their menu - no seafood besides shrimp. We left but decided to go back the next day. The staff are super friendly and helpful when describing the dishes, and I would totally recommend for anyone, local or tourist, to go eat at this restaurant! My favorite dish was the Shrimp Cazuela. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was absolutely delicious. It tasted slightly like curry, and I loved it! The rice could have been cooked better though, there was some hard grains of rice. But overall, this dish was my favorite because the sauce was impeccable.

This was my first time trying Mofongo and it was so garlicky and so good. I'm ready to swap out holiday mashed potatoes for this dish. Mashed potatoes honestly just come across lame AF now in comparison. Service was also amazing, really sweet waitress. Best dining experience yet in PR with the total package of tasty food and great people

We had a wonderful time at Bieke's! The servers were enthusiastic and welcoming. They were very kind to visitors. One of our servers previously lived in Watertown, NY and as New Yorkers, we were surprised how small the world can be! The other server was hilarious when we were asking her about the horses! She joked that they are annoying and later that night, some of us completely understood! The food was also delicious! Three of us had the chicharrones which were crispy and flavorful! We also got grilled chicken and a veggie burger. If we are ever back in Vieques, we would love to come back! We were only here for two days and this was definitely worthy of a stop!

GREAT FOOD & LOCAL'S FAVORITE. If you want a really good meal at reasonable prices on Vieques Island, this is the place to come. They are known for their conch and grouper dishes. The ceviche is very popular. Their mofongo dishes are also very popular. If you like seafood, ask them what the local catches of the day and order accordingly. This place is a true family run restaurant running continuously for 30 years. Amazingly the menu has been mostly unchanged for the entire 30 years other than the addition of tacos and vegan/vegetarian options. No matter what you get, ask for some of their house made hot sauce which is SO GOOD that it will soon be carried by Walmart! It is likely that their hot sauce business with greatly eclipse their restaurant business!

We stopped in here while on vacation, keeping our expectations low since tourist-available food isn't always the best. Wow, we are so happy we did! Mind blowing fare. We had the coconut curry grouper and shrimp stuffed plantains. Great drinks and service too- highly recommend!

The canoa and pastelitos were yummy! Nice atmosphere! Nice and fast service! Sweet Server. Come here if after 2 pm many restaurants closed break.

We ate: churrasco tacos, Mexican style steak, fish tacos, salad (fresh and huge!), mascarpone mousse.

Food was amazing. The drinks were great. Service was excellent. Ambiance is nothing special. But I had a lot of great food in strip malls. This is so much better than it looks.

Our taxi driver recommended this restaurant for lunch. We got the ceviche and the meat paella. The ceviche was not good, as it had a weird sweet taste. The paella was delicious.

Stopped in Bieke's Bistro for some cocktails and appetizers after a day at Green Beach. The drinks were strong, the food delicious, and the service mediocre at best. The convenient location on the main drag makes it an easy place to pop in for drinks on the covered deck.

The food was so very good! The friend fish had great tenderness and flavor and the salad was super fresh. My shrimp with Blanca sauce was so cheesy and creamy with bits of garlic and butter. So delicious! The waitress was kind and tried to speak English for us Southern Hillbillies. The decor was a bit dated but we were so busy enjoying amazing food it didn't matter. Topped off with a great Pina Colada!

We sat indoors and their meu is written on the chalkboard on the wall. We had some trouble ordering due to communication difficulties. There was apparent frustration on their end. We were trying to order the "American" empanadas but they call it different at this venue. They were trying to state that the empanada is in fact a breaded chicken cutlet. In all the confusion, we ended up ordering both. I had an order of fish tacos which were loaded, tasted great, and had a nice crunch.

The place was recommended to us by a local and it didn't disappoint...the Puerto Rican food was great! Our server was super friendly...they were pretty busy and backed up the night we went but who's in a rush when your on vacation...they do get busy so go with it taking awhile. Portions are great albeit a bit pricey. I highly recommend the whole fish picture attached!

I don't know where to begin with Bieke's Bistro. We had the company cater food for our five-day stay in Vieques and I was constantly in awe by the quality ingredients, the absolute star-studded team, and the gorgeous takes on traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. Truly there is no better food on the island. From their starting soups to their glorious entrees - I am truly just blown away.

Unfortunately we had the coconut rice which was like the coconut rice you get with mango and rice dessert in a Thai restaurant, it was a bit undercooked but good flavor. The 3 meat trio was basically rice, don't expect much meat, maybe 2 ounces and like 3 cups of rice that was not good. So disappointed

I have eaten here several times and never have been disappointed. They serve great Puerto Rican food as well as some standard American fare and make some of the best burgers and French fries on the island. My last meal there was shrimp tacos. Generous serving and absolutely delicious!

Casual bistro that serves all 3 meals of the day, and is known for its hot sauce. Have both an area with hightop tables and another area with lower tables as well. Have a fairly extensive menu with lots of drink and food options. Drink options includes both caffeinated and alcoholic beverages. I came with my family and we got a variety of dishes, all of which were solid

This was our first stop on our trip and it did not disappoint! I am still dreaming about the mofongo! This service was fantastic and this hidden gem of a restaurant will knock your flippers off!

Easily one of the best restaurants in Vieques. The flavors were fire! Delicious. Savory. Well balanced. Staff was very polite and friendly. Also bilingual. Would ABSOLUTELY try again!

This establishment have a nice and friendly staff, very good drinks and the best Mofongo I have ever eating!!!! They have 4-5 different types of Mofongo, plaint, chicken, octopus, churrasco, etc but I wanted mine of Dorado fish and they were sooooo kind to accommodate my special request """at no additional cost!!!""" They have very limited parking spaces, I would say that maybe for 3-4 cars, so you may have to find parking on the streets around. And they didn't have deserts because the fridge was broken (reason of the missing star). I definitely recommend this place and will be back...

If you are ever in Vieques, stop here! The Mofongo is a must have! The meat was tender and juicy. The fish tacos were delicious. Ask for the hot sauce! The arepas were a great start to the meal. Highly recommend the Bushwacker if you need a cool down beverage. The staff were wonderful as well. Such a great spot.

Great Puerto Rican food. Although Mexican seems to be all the rage across the island, this place has fantastic mofungo (we had it with crispy pork), rice and beans, and a solid grouper ceviche. Service can be a bit brusque, but probably not too surprising in a place that can be overwhelmed with tourists.

My hotel front desk recommends this place for a simple lunch. Menu is two pages with many Puerto Rican choices but also some Puerto Rican twists on amaerican classics like sliders with a jalapeño guava jelly. When we went, the crowd was 70% locales y 30% touristas. Bistro Mero Cazuela, Grouper Cazula with white rice, ginger, cilantro to cooked in coconut milk. The grouper is very soft and tastes like scallops. It's a bit on the sweet side. Mofongo Al Plato, Churrasco (Beef Steak) w/chimichurri. Mofongo is a very authentic PR dish that is made with smashed green plantain. Every restaurant makes it a bit differently. This could be the best on the island so far. Green Drink, is Midori (Melon liquor) with rum and pineapple Juice. Very very sweet. They have a few other rum drinks but they aren't really going out of their way to appeal to tourists with a bunch of frozen tropical drinks. House Salad, had an interestingly cream based dressing g with a lot of tang. Gourmet twist with some radish sprouts to give it a kick but overall not too fancy. Still, you need to get veggies while traveling. Most PR dishes don't have much veggies in it. Green Tea Tiramisu, was the dessert of choice. Kind of an interesting option to see in Peru to Rico, but it was bueno! Other options were tres leches and mocha brûlée- desserts are not on the menu but on view in the display case and change regularly from what we can tell. Like many places in Puerto Rico they make their own hot sauce. This one was a rich red color with a lot of garlic but not a lot of afterburner. Buy a bottle to take home. Service was a ok, the waitress definitely more interesting in talking to guys next to my table than service my table. She doesn't ask me how was the food or refill the table. She just non-stops and talks to those two guys. On the other hand, the red hairs bartender lady is very helpful. Lunch for two including mix drink, side salad, cocktail and dessert was around $65 including tax & tipsi

Cane back a second time, the food was amazing as it was before. Service was better this time around, while it was the same waitress. I would come back again. Although two times there was no way to dry your hands in the bathroom. They still check for proof of vaccination, and a generous portion of alcohol on the hands. Also, almost forgot, ordered a white Russian, larger size and better tasting than anything I've had in the states.

This is a MUST EAT PLACE! I visited "banana" before this place, and I think this place is much better! The menu is in Spanish (no English menu), and the waiters in the restaurant have an accent when speaking English, so we had to look at the pictures on yelp then decide what to order. Brazilian Cazuela was SO DAMM GOOD! So this is a must-order dish! The curry (maybe? I am not sure) tasted very good, the fish is boneless and smooth. The combination of rice, fish, and curry is amazing! Mofongo is also very good! Tasted much better than "banana". Soup is just ok. The price is acceptable, so I will visit again for sure if I have chance!

I live the cilantro rice or coconut rice, with fish filets (snapper, yellow tail or grouper). The conch Mofongo is out of this world.

We hadn't planned on this restaurant bc it was plan B after the other place was closed. It really should have been our first choice! The waitstaff was so friendly and attentive. We ordered tons of food like creamy conch, ceviche, chicken tacos, calamari, and fish nuggets but do not pass up the best garlic shrimp mofongo I've ever had!!! Their homemade hot sauce is amazing and we bought some to take home. We might go back to this restaurant every night!

This restaurant located in downtown vieques. The environment was good. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. Their mofongo is a little dry in my opinion. Their pina colada was pretty good. Fish taco also very good! I really liked it! Service also pretty good. Overall a good experience!

The mofongo, grouper in curry, empanadas, and arepas were all incredible. Best mofongo I've ever had. Everything was very flavorful. The service was good as well.

After 4 lunches and 1 dinner, I'm ready to review. Bottom line, Bieke's is legit. For the nasty-mouthed, apparently unhappy few who gave one star reviews and complained it was a tourist trap, stay home, wherever home is, and don't ever return to Vieques. If I encountered you, I'd have to exercise every once of self-control not to slap some sense into your negative heads. I've eaten here at lunch on 4 occasions. Tourist trap? No way! The phone rings off the hook with take-out orders at lunch. And do you think the calls are coming from guests at the ultra pomp W 10 minutes away? No boyz and girls, it's coming from locals who know VERY GOOD AUTHENTIC FRESHLY PREPARED TASTY INEXPENSIVE FOOD. COOKED VIEQUES STYLE. And yes, I've seen lots of tourists at lunch and dinner who appreciate the offerings. You see it on their faces after taking their first bite of food. Do you have to wait for your food? Yes! Is it a long wait? It depends. If you come on a Monday night and the other restaurants in Isabel II are closed (or jammed and won't seat you no matter that you drive a Bentley in NYC or wherever), and there are two tables of 10 who were just seated and ordered, yeah, you'll wait. Are you inpatient? Go home. Are you grumpy? Stay home. Are you ignorant of how food is prepared to order, not sitting around, in a small restaurant which may indeed run out of certain items cause they don't have a huge freezer with stuff. And I've encountered no rude staff. Just the opposite. Everyone smiles at me. Everyone answers my questions. In English. And they aren't slow. They move at a quick pace. But they aren't your slaves. The rice and beans are addictive. Red beans. Sauce that has a kick. The arepas stuffed with shrimp are like crack. The shrimp is cooked to perfection. Red criollo sauce. Arepa crunchy. Get them. You will want more. Pork chop at lunch is a huge portion. Smoked pork chop lunch special is even larger. Tasty smoked to perfection. Sucked the meat off the bone [Note that Marqus R]. Grilled Chicken at lunch. Delish. Fresh. Huge Portion. Grilled just right. Not dry. Tostones legit. Maduros legit. Had two of their soups the other night. One with chicken (pollo). Other with shrimp (camarones) . Each broth was distinctly different. This is not soup that you've had elsewhere. It's distinctly Puerto Rican. It's called Asapao. Order it. You will be spoiled. Have a ICY COLD Medalla for $3. Or a strong pina colada for $7. Or a bottle of wine. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE: if you are traveling with a large group and walk in at 7 pm, don't think you'll get a table right away. And there is no place to wait inside UNLESS you stand around next to the bar or front door. DON'T DO THAT. ITS RUDE YOU ARE ON TOP OF THE PEOPLE EATING AT THE BAR OR HIGHTOP TABLES NEXT TO BAR. STAND OUTSIDE. AND TIP GENEROUSLY. YOU'RE ON VACATION. YOU HAD ENOUGH MONEY TO FLY TO SAN JUAN AND THEN FERRY OR FLY TO VIEQUES. IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO TIP, GO TO MORALES SUPERMARKET AND BUY PEANUT BUTTER AND BREAD AND HAVE IT FOR DINNER.
