"Beer Gardens of Munich One of the most enjoyable things you can do in Munich is sit down at a bench in one of the many beautiful beer gardens, which serve as familiar gathering points for locals, friends, and visitors alike. The beer is top-notch, and the atmosphere warm and friendly—it's impossible not to have a good time. The second largest beer garden in Munich is under a tall pagoda, the Chinesischer Turm, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Englisher Garten. This was our favorite beer garden in Munich! There were several different places to get beer and food, and there were many tables so it didn’t feel too crowded. There was a band playing in the central tower while we visited, and that created a really fun atmosphere. There’s free bathrooms available and a bus station right outside for convenience if you don’t want to walk through the whole garden.

We had a good time at this beer garden. Great place to have beer and food. You have a wide variety of food to choose from currywurst to chicken roast to pretzels, you will find it all here.

My Schweinshaxe was a bit dried and hard but it tasted generally good. The vibe was cool and the location is very nice and ideal just in the English Garden. Must try in summer.

You can't beat the Chinese Tower Beer Garden for an authentic Munich experience. Nestled in the stunning English Garden, this spot is all about the atmosphere – it's just pure vibe. While the food is decent, the beer is absolutely fantastic, perfectly complementing the beautiful surroundings. Grab a liter, find a spot, and soak it all in. It's the ideal place to unwind and enjoy Munich's relaxed charm.

Amazing vibe! Right in the middle of the English Park. You got to carry your food and beer to the table yourself and it might get a bit heavy. Food is okay. Beer is better. If you bring your glass back to them, they give back $2.

Google
Very nice experience at the Biergarten. However, it is a little pricey to eat and drink. Beautiful park with plenty of seating.

Great place to stop and have a beer, it wasn't too busy when we came but it has a nice vibe in beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect in every way! Gorgeous location with tons of forest and easy to access bike rentals to cruise around the perimeter. Fantastic beers that are reasonably priced and delicious food. Had a huge group there for several days and we kept coming back to this one!

Yelp
A quintessential beer garden experience! We were lucky to have a single sunny day in Munich during a rainy October visit. Such great vibes! The walk to the Beer Garden is fantastic and the Chinese Tower itself is a pretty cool landmark. I think it helped that it was autumn (and a weekday) because it wasn't as crowded as what I imagine it could be. They have a food section where you can get a nice variety of German classics and then take them to sit on one of the picnic benches. Sausages, pretzels, desserts. You can get beer and beer mixes. Honestly, the food was all pretty tasty. I quite liked the apple strudel with loads of cream and the leberkase. Fries were also nice and crispy. They give you tokens when you order beer but don't really tell you what to do with them. Keep them with you as you return them along with your beer glasses to get a reimbursement. I wonder if that means you can just take the glasses with you if you don't return them.

Yelp
Great place to have a beer, some food and relax. You grab your own food and beer and then pay! Great atmosphere. The service was great. This is a great place to relax and spend sometime outdoors.

Yelp
It's such a must do place on any Munich Itinerary and I can see why when I visited here. We came in on a saturday evening and they had a live music bad with trumpets and string instruments up in the Chinese tower which was very cool. Such a great vibe! The beer is pretty standard Hofbrahaus brews and they have a good selection of food in the two food courts here. We brought in food from outside. Come here while strolling through the English Garden, get a drink and go check out the surfers!

Yelp
I'm torn on giving this beer garden a 3 or a 4. I went with the higher score because it's not the food that warrants the lower score, it's the confusion of it all. The food and beer are in a "food court". You go through a turnstile and start hunting for what you want. The servers that are at each food kiosk are great. Friendly helpful, yet no nonsense and want you to hurry up and make a decision...THEN you go to checkout!!!!!! You better be on your game cause those cashiers do not mess around. They don't love you using credit cards cause I guess it slows things down and they are all about getting the masses through quickly. They then give you a token like you're suppose to know what that is for...which we didn't and man did our cashier give it to us in German!! Since we don't speak German our feelings weren't very hurt. :) But the kind, patient German speaking person behind us told us it was a token for when we return the beer stein to the return station we also have to have that token to get a two dollar deposit back that our lovely cashier added to the bill in case we took the stein home. I'm telling you this whole whirlwind conversation took place in about a two minute time span. HOWEVER. Beer was good. Food was good. The pretzel cheese was weird. You want it to be like pimento cheese (if you're from the south and know what that is) but it's not and I'm still not sure what it is. The pretzels on the other hand were AMAZING. 10/10. Seating is also overwhelming but we found a table pretty quickly. It's just a very large venue.

Yelp
A Chinese Beer Garden inside of the English Garden in Munich, Germany? Sounds pretty cool, right? It was. My friends and I took a stroll through the English Garden on a Saturday and enjoyed stopping here for a mass of beer and some snacks. Originally built in 1790, the Chinese pagoda-style wooden tower was destroyed during WWII, and rebuilt in 1952 to its original and current style. Admittedly, it's definitely showing it's age, and wasn't quite as impressive as it looks in some pictures. Still, Chinesischer Turm is known to be the second largest beer garden in Munich, with around 7,500 seats, so I'd say this spot is worth checking out. On the Saturday afternoon that we visited, the beer garden was pretty empty, likely due to a combination of the cold weather and Oktoberfest going on across the city. The beer garden had a decent variety of food to choose from, and of course, beer to help. If planning a trip to the English Garden, definitely stop in for a beer here. I recommend it.

Yelp
When the weather is nice, there's not much that can beat having some food and beer at this fun beer garden. The "pagoda" was under renovation when we stopped by on our visit to this park and beer garden, but it was still quite a sight to see. The cafeteria-style food arrangement felt a little bit pricey, but it was still quite good and satisfying. Definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for a nice stroll through a beautiful park and beer garden experience in Munich.

Yelp
Yum! The perfect Biergarten in the middle of the English Gardens! We loved walking around after dinner and seeing the surfers along the river. Weißwurst, bratwürstl, käse spätzle, and half chicken were all fantastic. Schnitzel left a little to be desired. The man working the wurst station was very patient through my mom's million questions. Super fun and relaxing to eat in the park!

Yelp
This place is one of those awesome sights you see. Specially when you're walking around a giant park all thirsty and famished. Come around a corner and viola!! Food, beer, tables and dessert all in one section. I'm not really quite a pro on German food. Nor do I know which is good and which isn't. I've tried the sausages in the states, but wanted to know the difference with the ones here. I had the Schweinwurstl with Sauerkraut,, it was pretty "EH". I also got the order of CurryWurst which was "EH" as well. The sausage I had in the states was much better IMO. Plus that currywurst was hella lackluster. Maybe next time I try their other offering. I might give this spot more stars. That second star is for the convenience and efficiency. Other than that, not very impressive. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!!

Yelp
When in Germany this is an absolute must visit. Pretzels you carry on your arm, beautiful atmosphere and great crowd. The food is great but the service area is very crowded, fast paced and confusing the first time. And there is no patients for confused tourists. And make sure you eat all your food! The man who cleans the tables made us flip over our chicken to make sure. Lol.

Yelp
Nice Biergarten in the English Garden. It's a ways in. The space is large with lots of seating. There was a German band playing traditional music. The food and beets were good, they serve Hofbrau. We shared some sausages, potatoes a pretzel and a donut. Everything was really delicious. It definitely has a good atmosphere and is well worth a stop.

Yelp
Best Biergarten I visited during my 11 days in Munich. The food was good. I had ribs, red cabbage, spaetzle, and a pretzel. Prices were reasonable and the quality was good. The main outdoor area is self-service but that wasn't a problem.

Yelp
One of my favourite biergartens in Munich. It has a capacity of around 6000 people and during certain times of the year they can squeeze in almost double that. It is a good mix of locals and tourists that come here and, on a nice warm day, it can be pretty hard to find a seat. There are a few counters for food and drink and the prices are ok. During the summer you can also get the sommerbier and, this is not usually advertised. It's only available for a limited time and you need to check and see if they have it. There is a big kids play area and plenty of bike parking. You can take a bus directly to this biergarten. If you happen to be in the Englischergarten you won't miss this place. If you want table service you can go to the restaurant next to the Biergarten and, you will get table service and, a different food menu also. The food here is pretty ok and you get the standard Bavarian items. You are allowed to bring your own food if you so desire. This Biergarten is the location of the famous Kocherball each year (you can see my review and photos for this event on Yelp) in July. It's a centuries old Munich tradition and it's packed out from 3am to 10am which is when the festival ends. A distinctly Munich tradition enjoyed by the locals and visitors, in traditional wear, each year. This Biergarten is also home to a Christmas market each year. I love it here and, it is one of my favourite places to go during the warm months, with friends and coworkers. A must visit if you come to Munich. Prost !!!

Yelp
If your looking for a classic German park experience this is a great place for a group or individual to come and enjoy the weather and alot of bier. When it comes to beer this place operates well and even give you back your deposit upon returning the mug (1 Euro). When it comes to food I must say it was atrocious comparatively. Food was bland and overprriced. But all in all for the experience its worth a visit.

Yelp
Sitting outside on a beautiful October day, drinking an enormous beer and eating yummy German food...doesn't get any better than this. Our first beer garden experience in Germany but we studied for it prior to arriving so we did almost everything correctly, plus all the workers seemed friendly and used to stupid tourist tricks. So far my favorite beer garden in Munich.

Yelp
One of the best beer gardens in Munich. The park is lovely (and huge!) and the beer garden is a little oasis of community fun and good food. You select your food from any of stands and pay at the cashier. I had a half chicken (hendl), which was delicious, a pretzel, and of course, a beer. A brass band was playing traditional German music, which added to the great atmosphere. It was a bank holiday during Oktoberfest, so there were a lot of people there, but plenty of space to find a seat. In my opinion, you must visit the English Garden in Munich and at least enjoy a beer at this wonderful biergarten!

Yelp
Excellent authentic Bavarian food and beverage. Best beer we had during our entire two-week trip through Central Europe. Highly recommend.

Kristin M.

Yelp
A bit touristy, but the location and ambiance is worth it. The food is still good and so is the beer. It's a must-see in my opinion of the Munich biergartens.

Larry M.

Yelp
Touristy but authentic. Little pricey for what you get but great atmosphere. Main advice: When you purchase your food cafeteria style at the Park , KNOW WHAT YOU WANT WHEN IT'S YOUR TURN TO ORDER! The servers will get very rude if you hold up traffic. This not a good place for asking questions or wanting something special. Just enjoy what food you get the way it comes. It is really very good. 1/2 chicken or the ginormous Haxn are a good choices. Great beer also of course. Definitely worth a visit. The English Garden is a great place to spend a afternoon or evening in.

Thomas L.

Yelp
Food is tasty, price is reasonable. At first I wondered that what can happen if you have thousands of people drink beer in one place. In US, it might mean fights or gun shootings. Here, I see people are very friendly and happy eating here. No one looks like trouble makers. We had great experience here. It is must or highly recommended place to eat for foreign tourists.

Mercer R.

Yelp
This is my favorite beer garden in Munich. It has full service stalls, with a varying lineup of beer and food depending on the season. The trees and tower make excellent shade on a warm day, but there's also plenty of space for sun on a cool one. There's often a band in the tower, especially during festival times. Even during Oktoberfest, this one never gets too crazy, and is a nice break between days there if you're in town for a few days.
