We visited this place following a recommendation from our hotel. Excited to try Cape Malay food, we ordered the Bobotie alongside some seafood. The service was very odd - it seemed like we were inconveniencing the server. I don’t know if this was because Iftar had just finished (we were the only diners in the establishment and when we walked in we had to ask if it was even open) or if this is the usual experience. Nonetheless, we ordered, and while the dishes were okay, we both got stomach cramps and sickness the following couple of days. I’m not sure if it’s related to this place, but we did wonder if we just received some reheated leftovers to get us in and out as quickly as possible. Not to mention, when I asked for a specific drink the server said “don’t order that as I don’t know how to make it”… so again, I wonder if the usual chef was not working and we were just catered to on a whim. Disappointing as I really wanted to try something different and have a good experience while doing so.

Enjoyed their lamb biryani; home cooked style, just right portions and price; they wouldn’t take a tip even when I insisted (so beware those other restaurants that just add on the charge to their high bills). The place looked empty when I got there but diverse (age, ethnicity, group size) customers started arriving. Even the attached shop was full shortly. A good spot for a meal or a snack if you’re in the area.

the cuisine isn’t my favorite, but it’s great fr a tourist experience perspective and the food here is tasty and fresh. service is attentive and quick. be sure to mix in the “salads” with your meal, it’s important for the flavors!

This was the worst Gatsby that I have experienced for the price I paid. The bread was old, very little meat and only chips on the old bread. I WILL NOT recommend this place to anyone. The price doesn’t justify the quality food that you expect. I feel like that they are running the tourists through their ears with their prices and the bad quality food. There is definitely better out there.

The starters of Samosas and pastries were delightful. I especially liked the veg samosas. I ordered veg curry and roti which was very tasty. My friends enjoyed the chicken curry and said it tasted fresh. Customer service was amazing too. Homely wholesome place!

Biesmiellah is a wonderful tourist attraction. The color houses are on their doorstep . Unfortunately, this was not for me. I didn't enjoy the food expecting it to be amazing, being familiar with our malay cuisine. I asked for dhanya to put on my breyani, but they didn't have. Hubby had a steak roti and only finished half. It was very filling. Presentation of food & drinks is a bit lacking, but the aunt is warm and friendly. Parking would be tricky if it was busier, but we managed to find a space right in front.

A great place to try some Cape Malay Specialities in Bo-Kaap (the Malay Quarter of Cape Town. It's a 40 year old place that feels like an institution. I liked this place so much that I went there twice. On my first visit I got the Bobotie and the Malva Pudding which were good. But on my second visit I tried my favorite Malay dish- Cape Malay Curry with Crayfish. It was amazing and served with some Roti. I also got the Daltjies and they were good too. I definitely recommend this place.

I ordered beef curry for takeaway. Got home they gave me bean curry. I paid a ridiculous price of R160.00 The samosas was old. I wouldn't definitely not recommend this place. The koek sister's are old and full of oil. What a horrible experience.
