This place is awesome and a perfect stop off the highway for some great refreshment. It's actually our second time back. Terrific beer selection in a beautiful setting. There's a nice elevated outdoor area as well as the indoor tasting room, with an overview of the brew vats. Melina was a sweetheart and super friendly and helpful. We actually ended up staying here overnight in our RV and they have a big quiet parking lot across the street.

Stayed there on a harvest host and although it wasn't our first night harvest hosting but got suprised by the number of RVs parked there! They had a server who helped us find a parking spot here and as soon as we entered it was kitchen's last order so we had the cheeseburger pizza and soft pretzels and to be honest we were LUCKY the kitchen was closed because cheeseburger pizza was the tastiest thing I have ever had in a bar and if the kitchen was still open I would have ordered two more to go! I had a flight set with three IPAs and a sour beer and non disappointed me. The view from the second level was beautiful and service was great as well. The bill came out around 70 bucks for the orders that was decent.

Solid beer (had the Nite Train Pale Ale) and a good smoked meat on light rye. Wonderful service and a great view of the Saint John River. Worth the trip!

We wete traveling by motorohome on a road trip and came across this brewery after researching places to spend the night. Such a great find! FREE RV parking and camping when you eat there. Beautiful place to park on the river. I recommend you call in advance or use Harvest Host to reserve your spot. We parked along the river and went for a quick dip before dinner. Beer was awesome! Food menu was small and simple but did the trick. Would stay again!

Dog friendly! Bring your dog right inside or sit on the patio. Beer and pretzel bites are delicious. View of the river from the deck is beautiful!

delicious beer. my favorite: the Helles, Northern Gold Lager, I am my father's daughter, he liked the German style lager as well. service is friendly and fast, overall great experience, especially because this place is also a Harvest Host RV camping spot.

I had the pleasure and privilege of being a Harvest Host guest at Big Axe Brewery. I thoroughly enjoyed tasting several of their brews, enough so that I brought a few home with me. I especially enjoyed Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout and the imperial stout. The service was great. The staff very friendly. I also enjoyed the food. If you are traveling through New Brunswick, Canada I highly recommend a visit. The view of the river and brewery are gorgeous. Cheers and peace.

Never before has sleeping off drinks across from a bar came with such a beautiful view. Got lucky with a parking spot right beside the dock and woke up to loon calls over the still river and one hell of a view through the windshield. My wife and I stopped off here by pure chance looking for a place to rest after 15 hours on the road and between the beer, the views and the conversation with locals I wish I didn't have a life to leave back home. Thanks for the lifelong memories!

Yelp
A little brewery that got bigger both in size and selection. Lots of in-house options here so grab a flight because you're sure to fit something. The one downside to this place is that it's not accessible. The main floor has the sales of cans and their washroom, but the brewery is actually up about 20 stairs. A great setting though where their patio overlooks the river and is great on a sunny day. Free parking out front. If you're looking for the giant axe after your brews, you'll need to continue down the road about another 2 kms for a photo op.

Yelp
We stumbled upon the big axe as we were traveling. The combination of a brewery right next door to a Bed and Breakfast was perfect. I had the Shakespeare Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and my wife had the Meade. Both were delicious. The bartender - sorry I forgot her name - was very knowledgeable about the beers as well as the local area. She told us stories about the brews, the history of the wood used to make the bar and let's us know about local events. Oh and the view was fantastic! Next time I'll ask about the axe throwing.

Yelp
What a great find! We stopped in for a craft beer after seeing the "Open" sign in the window and could not have been more pleased! There is a large craft beer/mead/cider selection, flights are a great option as well (see picnic table picture). Peter was extremely knowledgeable and personable. They do have chips to munch on if you are hunger but you're also able to order pizza and have it delivered or Peter will pick it up for you! A large selection of vinyl records to accompany your time as well. I want to come back here again and again! Departure with a couple of growlers and t-shirts to boot!

Yelp
Simply put this is just a fantastic place. I would highly recommend this place if you just like to get a way from it all. Having a brewery on location makes it 6 stars for me. The host are extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. The view of the St. John's river from our room (Walnut) was fantastic. Don't think twice about booking here. Book your room now!

Yelp
Spent an afternoon sampling some of the craft beers and I was pleasantly pleased not only with both the quality and variety of offerings. I'm not much of a stout fan, but I would be if they were all like the Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout. The Wrath of Putin Double IPA was very flavorful without being overly bitter. The Roll in the Hay IPA was also a little lighter and very smooth. We spent most of the afternoon on the porth watching the boats go up and down the St. John River, but there was also some pleasant music indoors. If the quality beer and friendly greetings carry over to the new facility they're building next door, they're going to do very well. We will be back.

Yelp
Big Axe was the highlight of our Honeymoon trip across the East Coast of Canada. If you're a fan craft beer and are in the Maritimes, this is a must visit. Even if you're not a beer drinker, Big Axe is definitely worth a visit. Peter, Tatiana and their dog Shakesbeer were fantastic hosts. They welcomed us warmly and made sure we tasted some of their excellent beer (the IBA and IPA were our favourites!). We spent our evening relaxing on the patio, drinking tasty beer, reading and listening to 80s vinyl classics on their impressive hifi! The location is beautiful - right on the river and you have lovely views. The room itself was clean and really comfortable. The air conditioning was especially welcome on such a hot day. The next morning our breakfast was served to us in the room - and was delicious. Peter showed us round the brewery, and we went on our way with a growler of IPA to keep us going for the next couple of nights. Overall - Big Axe is a must visit if you're in the maritimes.
