I can't stop dreaming about going back to Fernie just for another bite of these incredible bagel sandwiches! Honestly, I’ve never had a better bagelwich in my life. The bagels were perfectly soft, and we tried three different varieties, all equally amazing. The place has a laid-back, simple vibe. Be prepared to wait a bit for your order, as it’s busy, but the friendly staff make it worth it!

Google
The bagel I had was really good and a great option if you’re looking for a quick breakfast. Plus, they have a dog-friendly patio, which is perfect if you want to bring your furry friends along! I’m not a local, but I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty their bagels are. Definitely worth a stop.

Google
Will rave about this place. Rarely have I had a breakfast sandwich where I need to hold myself back from shoving it in my mouth. Everything was very fresh. I generally feel like that's hard to get in a mountain town but these guys and girls can do it! And, the art I personally found to be very good. That's highly subjective but I felt like the local art they featured was great.

Stopped here for breakfast yesterday morning and the smell of the place before even walking in was mouth watering. I ordered the Griz with herb and garlic cream cheese on a jalapeno cheddar bagel, and it was so delicious, I love the fact that they use everything fresh, even the eggs are freshly cracked. The atmosphere is very cozy and the perfect breakfast place. The bagel on its own was just so fresh, fluffy, soft, and still had that outer bagel texture. I would definitely come back here and will be grabbing some bagels before heading home

Google
A great place in Fernie for a quiet bite or a sit down brunch as the bagel sandwiches are fresh and delicious. Some of the craft bagels made here are very unique and I was impressed by the complex flavours and soft texture. I am not a fan of bagels but I did thoroughly enjoy the bagel sandwich I got and the garlic bagel was very well made.

Google
Stopped for a try. The sandwich is like focaccia style bun known as the Fernie Style bagel. Very tasty but expensive. Sandwich alone is $13.

Google
Yummm. I had a salmon ( lox) sandwhich on a jalapeño cheese bagel and it was great. The jalapeños actually had a little kick. Sitting outside with the mountain views somehow made it all taste better. 😉 Kids said the egg and cheese bagelwhich was good as well. The berry Smoothie looked tasty that my niece ordered. I would definitely hit this spot again. I didn't see anything gluten free options for other family members so we will have to hit up The Lunch Box which wasn't open when we passed by. Anyhoo, the staff here seemed nice. 🥯 🍩 🥯 🍩 🥯 😋 😋

Yelp
This place is a cute Bagel shop downtown Fernie. My husband and I ordered the BLT and enjoyed it. However, I'm a picky Bagel gal, and it's no Montreal or NYC style Bagel. I know the Bagel is made the day of and very popular among the locals. It's a great place for a quick lunch. Nice atmosphere too.

Yelp
Wish I had a 3.5 star rating maybe... We heard good things and to be honest from other reviews thought it would be our best bet as we stopped along our way through town. The bagels were very fresh but fairly doughy. We were a bit disappointed that the bagels weren't toasted... we both ordered hot features but the bagels weren't toasted themselves.. seemed a bit odd... But maybe we were supposed to ask for that too? I had the jalapeño cheddar whole wheat and my partner the poppyseed (so many seeds!) the cheese on mine mostly melted to the sides and even though I asked for no onions, there were lots of onions, thankfully I could pick them off fairly easily, but I hate being wasteful. The flavor overall was pretty good though. We wanted coffee but saw reviews about no cups unless you bought or rented them... they did seem to have disposable cups though... we ended up going next door for the rooftop coffee roasters ( no patio upstairs- don't be confused- and $6 for a 8oz latte... but that's maybe another review...) Overall lots of bagel choices, a cute set up and great location on Fernie's beautiful Main Street with a nice little patio. Staff seemed mostly focused, a bit indifferent but that's probably due to being short staffed. Overall service was fine- felt like a fast food joint that way.

Yelp
Awesome bagels, and my daughter needed help. The staff helped us and maintained service for the other patrons.

Yelp
This place has been a Fernie staple for years. Fresh made bagels each day. Loads of selection always really nice staff.

Yelp
The bagels are fresh, soft, and flavorful. Had the lox and avocado sandwiches and both were very good. Got herb cream cheese container to go for next day w extra bagels and that was delicious as well. Service is a little slow, there were only 5 people and we still waited probably 10-15 minutes.

Yelp
If you're looking for a delicious bagel made in house, this is the spot! My dear friend calls them "bang on bagels" and I couldn't agree more. Having lived in Montreal (bagel heaven), it's always great to have a local spot that is hitting the mark! Bang on!
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Damn that's a long wait for a bagel sandwich. I ordered my smoked salmon bagel with extra cream cheese and happily paid the surcharge for it, but it somehow had even less than the other bagel we ordered. The coffee cup issue is a bit of a bummer. I am fine with paying extra for a biodegradable disposable one, but if you're on the road like we were and don't have a reusable cup from home, it's a little annoying to not be able to order any coffee to go with your takeout breakfast.

Yelp
Stopped on the way as we were driving through to the US and were starved! Had the Mr. Fernie breakfast bagel on a jalapeno cheddar bagel. It really hit the spot and was super filling. I liked that you could see the menu board with a live list of what was available (in both white and whole wheat). The cookies are also damn good.

Yelp
Great bagels and smoothies. A terrific, quick breakfast. My 12 year old son says it's the best bagel he's ever had. I can't think of a better one!
google avatar

Joe D.

Yelp
Michael - a brilliant experience all round, i had a chocolate chip bagel with butter, life changing!!! They did get my name wrong though, i think they should introduce a number system to solve this problem. Joe - top notch food and staff!! Bagels were almost as good as the bangers playing.

Yelp
Super tasty bagels, even better breakfast sammies. Totally worth the wait if there is a line up. Highly recommend the jalapeño cheese, will be definitely be going will definitely be going back. Merchandise looks cool. Grab a T-shirt!

Yelp
Wow!!! Spectacular food! I can't say enough good about this place. So tasty and so good and huge portions!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Yummy!! All their bagels are made fresh and so delicious! The service is a little slow but it's because all the orders are "made to order" and all the ingredients are fresh. If you order avocado on your bagel they will actually peel an avocado in front of you! I have breakfast here everyday when in Fernie! They also have a location in the "rusty edge" bar on the mountain. Their coffee is also roasted locally and amazing! Eat here!!

Yelp
Great local business that supplies quality food and is vegetarian friendly. Restaurant on the corner with outdoor seating, the inside has a coffee house feel to it. You can immediately tell it supports other local business (and community initiatives) based on all the flyers around the entrance. Tables and chairs are mismatched and it seems a little disorganized, but its really just part of the charm that makes independent businesses so much better than chains. Super friendly staff with laid back attitudes which are a perfect fit for a mountain town. I ordered the Mr. Fernie breakfast sandwich (fried egg, cheese, avo, onion and tomato) and got it with sprouts+spinach (instead of ham or bacon) on a Sesame bagel. You get to choose your bagel type from an extensive menu of like 18 choices, varying from savory to sweet. The order only took a few minutes to get to me and it was dreamy, like old Saved by the Bell episodes of hunky: creamy avocado, runny-ish egg, soft yet toasted enough bagel....just yum. I didn't try the coffee cause I was already zoomed enough from a previous caffeine encounter but everyone else was into it, I'm pretty sure they do some roasting of their own blends too. I grabbed a six pack of bagels to-go on the way out, ate them with friends for the next couple days as well. Overall, solid 4 out of 5 stars for sure. If I could pass along one idea: please put the smoked salmon sandwich on the breakfast menu as well!

Yelp
I checked yelp when we pulled into fernie for some breakfast and this was one of the best rated places. Lots of people talked about coffee and how amazing their bagels were. I picked up two "Mr. Fernie's with Bacon" I have to admit they were great! My husband and I really enjoyed them but when I tried to order a coffee Togo they let me know they no longer use disposable cups you can either rent a cup or buy a coffee cup to go at $38. So that meant I had to find another place for a coffee. All in all food was great but if you are just grabbing and going grab a coffee prior!

Yelp
Ordered bagels and sandwiches.Butter or cream cheese for one serving cost more than the bagel. Food was satisfactory, the employee at the cash register "not so much". She was more concerned with talking to other employees than servicing customers. When the transaction was finally completed we said. "thank you". She ignored it and gave no response, though it should have been the restaurant expressing gratitude for the business. Though the food was okay, the employee left a bad taste.

Yelp
OMG. Move over Montreal and NYC, the bagels here are mind-blowing. Yes, Fernie bagels. Bagels are hand-made in the back and so incredibly fresh. Warm and chewy like a soft pretzel. This place is the real deal. Bagels here come as either white and whole wheat and under each type of bagel, there is a plethora of flavours to choose from ranging from the usual sesame to 'salty top' and even chocolate chip. Chocolate chip! Highly recommend the salty top. Each bite of this bagel was so savoury and delicious. 5 stars. Wait, can I give 6 stars?

David A.

Yelp
The bagel was really tasty. And I was immediately teased with the quality of the ingredients. The counter attendant could not focus more than ten seconds to take out order. Kept saying "Oh sorry what was that?" Three times during the 2 min we were ordering. My wife nearly fell through the chair seat that was coming away from the frame. Had to wait until someone left to get a chair that wasn't falling apart.

Yelp
I woke up Sunday morning, bored in a hotel room as my girlfriend still slept, so looked up info on coffee shops in Fernie. Small town, 7am on a sunday, no guarantees but low and behold there was one! I made my way to Big Bang Bagels and was happy with the find as soon as I got into the shop. Just a good vibe! I looked back into the kitchen and saw a couple cooks making the bagels from scratch! I ordered my locally roasted coffee and a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. I will mention the coffee.. in a age that we whip through drive thrus and grab our coffee in a paper cup, when I was handed a warm mug for my coffee I was taken back. What a nice touch! On to the bagel.. wow! I have been eating sh*t bagels all my life! So delicious, amazing crispy on the outside, and somehow dense and fluffy inside.. wow.. my breakfast sandwich had thick cut bacon, a fried egg and aged cheddar. A step above the average breakfast sandwich. I got another coffee to go, a 6 pack of bagels to take home, and continued my day. If you ever go to Fernie, go to big bang bagels!
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Good bagels and sandwiches, but the place is small and the interior needs a refresh. The service is slow. Expect to pay $8-10 for a sandwich or $4.50 for a bagel with butter or cream cheese. They don't have other food options.
google avatar

Nick W.

Yelp
Definitely has the best breakfast bagels I have ever eaten. The Mr Fernie makes a great vegetarian option with egg, aged cheddar, avocado, fried onion, tomato, spinach and sprouts for $7.75. The Big Banger with egg, cheddar, thick ham, and real bacon is pure pleasure and only $7.50. The coffees are good, if not great, and the staff are always friendly and efficient. The bagels themselves are also amazing with up to 15 varieties of white or whole wheat varieties. We took some to go for snacks, and they were delicious even without being heated or toasted. When in Fernie, make this your first stop for breakfast before hitting the mountain. The open at 7 nearly everyday, including Boxing Day, but not Christmas Day.

Yelp
Dropped in on the way out of town after a ski trip. Three kids an I had bagels, all awesome, great service, great coffee worth dropping in for lunch if you're in Fernie!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! We live in Calgary and my son asks us often if we can drive to Fernie and go here for bagels!! My only comment would be to add soup to the menu to complete a meal, but the bagels and sandwiches are amazing!!!!
google avatar

Krafty K.

Yelp
Big Bang Bagels is FANTASTIC! I eat their breakfast bagel every single time I go to Fernie... and when I leave I order a 6 pack to go. The spinach pesto bagel is my absolute favourite! The people that work there are usually kind and bubbly. My only complain is that they never have chocolate chip bagels when I go and I would really like to try/order them. I think a lot of people would - especially families.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite as we were passing through Fernie on our way to Radium Hot Springs and Banff. Wow! What a treat! The staff were very engaging and friendly, and the cheddar jalapeño bagels had such a nice texture and flavor! We highly recommend stopping by for a toasted bagel or one of their tasty sandwiches! And the iced mocha was so yummy & refreshing on a hot Summer day.

Yelp
My family and I stopped in Fernie, BC during a wandering trip on a rainy day looking for lunch. Fernie's a pretty tiny town and Big Bang seemed like our best bet so we ducked in, expecting nothing incredible. When we entered, though, we found a warm, bright store that smelled like freshly baked bagels, played Bob Marley, and offered free Wi-Fi. In other words, we found Canada's version of Heaven. We'd been driving in the rain for several hours and really just hoped for a bathroom and a quick bite, but the bagel sandwiches blew us away and the service was exceptional. We ended up sitting by the windows, where we charged our computers and checked our email (and I wrote this review). Fernie may be out of the way, but if you get up there stop in Big Bang.

Yelp
Good bagels, cool environment. Breakfast sandwich could have had less oil. It I think that was from the cheese it used. But it was a good sandwich non the less. I will come back next time I am in town.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Their t-shirts say they "bang" all day long.... Well whatever they are doing they are doing it right. This is a hip little place with clever sandwiches and the best bagels you will ever eat. The coffee is decent and it is a must do in Fernie!
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
The service isn't always great, and you often have to wait a long time for food and coffee. The bagels themselves are Doughyer than I'm used to, but as a result do make really great sandwiches. The BLT is my fave!
google avatar

Anne K.

Yelp
Handmade, every morning, fresh fresh fresh! I have gone through withdrawal as a result of no longer working at Big Bang. I still frequent BBB regularly and have to take them with me whenever I go visit friends and family in other cities! There is a rocking staff vibe, thanks to the lovely owner Carolyn. Definitely stop in and check out "the best bagel I've ever had" aka the most common customer comment! Remember that this is the real deal, not precooked or anything like that, so there is more time involved than a drive-through ;-)

Yelp
I love bagels. I always have. When I heard there was a place that makes bagels on site, I just had to check it out!. Fresh pretťy much sums up the taste of the bagels. There are lots of flavors and options. Their sandwiches are great too and are made healthy and fresh to your specs. You are also welcome to biy a bag of your favorite bagels yo take home. The price is resonable as well and there is some outdoor sitting area. This place is a real winner in the heart if Fernie and i can't wait to return.

Cathy B.

Yelp
When researching eats in tiny Fernie, BC this place repeatedly appeared. They boast multiple "Best of Fernie" awards on the door to the bagel shop, which includes a nice little patio built right on the street. While the bagel sandwich I had (ham, egg, avocado, plain CC on a jalapeno bagel) was not "amazing", I'm giving this place an extra star for being one of the few breakfast places open before 9, and good quality/value. The inside shop has a fun vibe with cool local artwork for sale and plenty of free tourism brochures that makes you want to stay awhile.

Emma J.

Yelp
Went on a weekend and yes it was fairly busy but worth the wait! I got a BELT on a chocolate chip bagel (odd combo I know) and it was verrryyy good. If you find your self in fernie this is a go to spot
google avatar

Prateek ..

Yelp
You will never want to eat bagels from Tim Hortons or Starbucks again. Bagels are very fluffy, local gem.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
I completely understand why this place got off the charts amazing reviews - the bagels are incredible! We grabbed a couple breakfast sandwiches before heading out on our roadtrip, and the place was packed & bustling. It's clearly a regular stopping point for locals and tourists alike. The bagels were soft & delicious, and we grabbed some extras & a tub of cream cheese to take with us after we finished our sandwiches. I wish we had something like this closer to home (although admittedly, it's probably for the best we don't, otherwise I might be 50lbs heavier). 5 big stars for this place, (and for Fernie as a town in general). It's definitely worth the stop!

Justin D.

Yelp
Probably the best coffee you can find in Fernie. The bagels are so light they make for a great sandwich. Highly recommended if looking for a light eat and amazing coffee.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
I wish to build a pipeline from Big Bang Bagels to Buffalo. I've never encountered such a variety of white-flour and whole-wheat bagels. I'm a big fan of the salt bagel and was happy to purchase a whole wheat salt, with a schmear, at Big Bang Bagels. Yeah, the whole wheat definitely cancels out the salt in my diet. Great place. They even have hot pepper flavored cream cheese, which I did not try. Wimp.
google avatar

Jacqueline B.

Yelp
There isn't much to say other than this place is amazing. I will never eat a bagel again unless it is from this shop. Other bagels just aren't worth it! The sandwiches are divine. I am boring and always get the same thing, even when it was taken off the menu - they don't mind whipping it up for me though. The staff are so friendly and the coffee is delicious. All around this place rocks. The t-shirts that say "best bang in town" don't hurt their awesomeness either!

Graham L.

Yelp
These are the best bagels ever! You can order to take out but we usually eat in. These bagels...I cannot say enough about how good they are. They offer sandwiches too. Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Keep it up.
google avatar

Dale S.

Yelp
I don't know what drugs these other reviewers are on but, my wife and I stopped in and got a half dozen and were extremely disappointed. They were gummy and had little flavour, when superstore makes a superior bagel you know it's bad. Eek! Methinks not, save your money.
google avatar

Carman D.

Yelp
Perfect for breakfast. Large selection of fresh bagels and a cool menu of different bagelwiches. It's in an old building which is cool but the environment is very hectic and busy feeling. Our experience may have been better if they were more organized as our order went out to someone else.

Sara W.

Yelp
Always go at least once when I visit my family in Fernie. By far my favourite bagel place. They have a cozy atmosphere with an outdoor patio with tables and stools. Staff are friendly and helpful, and there isn't a very long wait time for your meal

Martina B.

Yelp
Loved my Mr. Fernie breakfast bagel this morning. Friendly service and delicious fresh veggies. Will def be back for more goodness on my next visit.

Jenna M.

Yelp
These are not your ordinary run of the mill bagels. They are much lighter and not so dense. the taste and freshness here is out of this world. I ate here for the first time today. I had a chicken sandwich on a salty top and hubby had a onion and garlic with butter. Absolutely fabulous. We found ourselves talking about it all day. The prices are reasonable but as I mentioned the bagels are like no other. I promise if you stop for breakfast or lunch you will not be disappointed. They also serve soups and beverages.
google avatar

Tina M.

Yelp
The food was awesome. When visiting we stopped in for the first time and ordered some breakfast bagel sandwiches to go. The bagels were cooked perfect and fresh. I would have given them 4 stars for the food alone, but I'm a little health conscious and there were a ton of flies (by a ton I mean more then a few but enough to keep constantly swatting at them while waiting for our food) around and being that the bagels are uncovered, it definitely lowered my appetite. I understand it was a hot day so they had the door open, maybe the AC was down, but thats just not something you want to see in a place with open food. However I'm sure it wasn't a daily occasion or normal. Also took quite some time for a place that wasn't too busy to make our order. I'd go eat here again, but definitely keep it to go.
google avatar

Horn H.

Yelp
Great coffee and easily the best bagel I've ever eaten. All the bagels are made fresh on site. Great spot to grab a coffee and snack.

Charlotte H.

Yelp
Awesome place with super friendly staff! The atmosphere is really upbeat and their food is absolutely delicious but affordable too!

Yelp
Best place for morning nosh and coffee in Fernie. It is bangin'!

Yelp
If you are ever in the south east corner of British Columbia and really want a delicious bagel, hit up Big Bang Bagels. The bagels are delicious, the bagel sandwiches are clever, and there are Australians coming out of the woodwork.
