This lodge stunned me and reminded me of the famous Hotel Carter in New York's Time Square. If you don't know about this hotel, Google it. I am not a negative person who enjoys trashing businesses just trying to make a living these days, however, this could not be ignored. When we checked in on Thursday January 9th, I was asked to leave a $100 credit deposit. I said...No problem, I understand. When we got into the hotel room #2 which has two large beds, we noticed a few odd things starting to unfold.
The kitchen blind, which anyone walking by can see in, did not have any string or a way to be pulled down. As a result, I went to the front desk and VERY POLITELY asked the young lady if they were aware of this blind (I've worked customer service my whole life, so that's the reason I always try to be cheerful) The young lady said... No and that she was a new employee. I said...Maybe I can cover it with a towel. So, I went back to see and noticed there was only had a small floor towel and a regular towel. Then I realized there was no way to hang the towel over.
Then my wife tried to turn the TV on but there was no on/off button on their Roku controller. It also had no volume control. This got stranger by the minute trying to settle into this place. I turned the TV on the old fashion way underneath and also adjusted the volume underneath, but I was concerned that maybe another hand controller was missing, so I went to the front desk again. Again, I VERY POLITELY explained to the young lady that there was no way to hang the towel and that there appeared to be no separate controller for the TV. She didn't know anything about this. I also asked for some extra towels.
She said they didn't have any on hand but she would make sure to get some. Again, I VERY POLITELY said...Okay, thank you. She also said we could get the room upstairs instead and I said... I'd prefer not to have to lug our things upstairs and would just try to make this room work. She suggested if I was willing to get onto the counter that maybe I could pull the blind down, but I also explained that I was concerned and didn't want to damage anything. She said not to worry, so I said...Okay I'll give that a try. I apologized to complain and tried not to ruin her night. I went back and it worked! The blind was able to be pulled down.
My wife then tried to take a shower using the only towel, but then we noticed there was no shower curtain but wait, this gets stranger still. So, I went to the front desk again and VERY POLITELY asked if they have a shower curtain on hand and I'd attach it myself. She said they didn't have one. I said....Okay we'll just be careful not to wet the floor. After my wife showered, she noticed that she couldn't wrap the towel around herself because it was too small. At this point I'm just thinking.....omg, if I have to go to that front desk again, this young lady is going think I'm nuts. We finally got some towels from the lodge.
We then checked out Saturday January 11th about 10am but before we did that, my wife who is from the Philippine's who also worked in hotels herself emptied all the trash bags, tied them in a knot and left them by the door. She fixed the bed's so things looked presentable to the room service because she has great respect for room service employees. As we checked out, I VERY POLITELY asked that they credit my deposit back and they said, no problem. We were always respectful and polite in good faith regardless of the problems. We were never rude or upset and just tried to work though it all.
We got home two hours later, and to add further insult to injury, I got a text message that I was charged and additional $59.75 and this is when I got very upset but it gets worse. I can't call them because when you call their phone number 909-866-8271, it says "Your call cannot be completed at this time". Again and again I tried, to no avail. I still have no idea what this charge is and even if I did, I am insulted that we should be charged after all we went through and we left the room clean. I called and disputed the charge with my bank. There are two sides to every story, but this is exactly how it went down.
