BIG B'S Soup & Grilled Cheese

We’ve visited a couple of times now, and this place never misses! We stopped for lunch here after staying in Central City, and it was the perfect choice. If you are sitting in the Subway parking lot down the street, do yourself a favor and go here instead—it was so good!! On our most recent visit, we tried the Big Texan and the Red Chili. The chili was hearty and hit the spot! We’ve also shared the Big Cubano, along with the Tomato Artichoke (the dill was a great touch!) and Split Pea soups. Everything was delicious, really filling, and they were yummy soups! The staff was super friendly and the vibe was unique, making it a fun space. They also have ♿ handicap accessible seating, plenty of 🅿️ parking, and 🚻 restrooms. It was a great spot for comfort food!

Awesome! We stopped on the drive home just looking for something quick and easy and better than fast food. I was pleasantly surprised that it was so great! I got the Texan sandwich and it was awesome, very fresh and the quality was great, very obvious the cooks here care about what they are making. I definitely would eat here again.

This place has a really cool idea and super yummy soups! We got the soup flight which was 6 different soups in like 4 Oz ramekins and two regular grilled cheeses to share between two people. It was amazing. I took one star away though because they don't have a big variety of cheeses. Like all the kinds of sandwiches you can get sound good, but they are full of toppings and mets and sauces. I would like to see more emphasis on a variety of cheeses and different kinds of plain grilled cheese sandwiches you can make. I thought the sandwiches with toppings were too flavorful on their own to accompany a soup with a lot of flavors. But I would love to see like a melted brie sandwich or gouda cheese or something! It looked like all they had was American and mozzarella?

Took a trip to Colorado earlier this year and in October and on the second day me and my friends family stopped here to eat. Shocked and impressed by the design on the outside and inside, I was very excited to try the food. I got the ‘The Cheesus’ and was greatly surprised by how flavorful and delicious it was! Only problem I had with the restaurant was how crowded it was inside and not much seating, but it’s not too spacious inside which is perfectly fine! Next time I head back to Colorado, im definitely coming back here.

Food flavor was amazing! I was impressed with the taste. Paper plates are a bit small, as are the tables & dining area, but manageable. Staff was friendly and helpful. They serve beer, but currently liquor license limits consuming it indoors. I would definitely return and try something else on the menu. Give this place a try.

SO. DANG. DELISH. I can’t think of a better post(or pre-)-mountain-activity fuel-up 🧡🧡 Takes a little bit of time to prep the sandos bc they’re all made to order, but said sandos are sooooo worth the wait!! We stopped in on Sunday on our way to a local ATV tour, and it was so good we planned Monday’s activities (coming from Denver vacation homebase) in order to be able to dip in for even more cheesuses (cheesi??) My absolute fave thing of our visits was the Cubano 👌🏼👌🏼, but I’m also now obsessed with their Doritos ranch, especially when the Bavarian pretzel sticks are dipped in that Doritos ranch 😍 Don’t sleep on the Goo Balls. Either the Capn Crunch or the Fruity Pebs will do ya up right for dessert

Not a single wiped off Table in this place. Trash cans are full. The door is propped open so a lot of flies are bothering table guests. The radio is blasting music from the kitchen so loud we couldn’t talk at our table that we cleaned ourselves. They really shouldn’t be asking for a tip when you pay. I want my tip money back if I’m going to have to clean up my own tables. The food was very good but the service and atmosphere is what is holding this place back from having more customers. If the owner sees this review check your cameras and deal with the employees working on 10/11/2025 at 3pm to 3:45 pm.

My husband and I have been coming here for about a year and it's always been a AMAZING experience. Food is incredible, and they added in soup flights which is exciting. They also are now serving beer and added a bar! The Cheesus is unmatched 😋. The owner is such a cool guy and always makes it a point to come talk to customers. We will always come back!

Always wonderful food here when we visit. I was happy to see the red chili, which they usually don't have on the menu when we go, available today. I had a cup, which was delicious. I got the Big Islander, as I always do, but forgot that it doesn't come with pork, and you have to remember to add it, which I didn't. Realizing my mistake, they graciously added it for me, and that made all the difference. My wife gets the standard Cheesus sandwich she always gets and loves and paired it with the tomato basil soup...again, what she always gets and loves. It took a little while to get our order as there were several in front of us, but it was worth the wait.

went with basic grilled cheese and tomato soup but not sure i would go back... it was *okay*. it was sort of crispy/hard and i smelled like grease for hours later until showering. maybe try a speciality sandwich instead? also thought a soup tasting would be cool but saw someone else got it and it was odd like 2oz per soup.

This place was okay for a small bite. I came here on the way back from Guanella Pass. I tried the Big Southwest and a cup of spicy chowder. It was filling for two people to share. Overall the flavors were fine, they just kind of melded together. The chowder was okay. I've had really good soups lately so maybe the bar was too high. For me, it was just a hot sandwich. Maybe it's my bad but I was expecting it to be heavy on the cheese--maybe that's just with the simple grilled cheese.

Fabulous homemade soups, a huge variety of grilled cheese options, a $5 simple grilled cheese for kids (and grownups!) and friendly service make this place worth a visit. Just off 70 but away from the touristy end of Idaho Springs, with indoor and outdoor seating; decor and music are fun and funky. Great gluten free soups and flatbread for the sandwiches. I appreciate their use of compostables and offering water for our pup! My dream is that they open a branch near us in the Roaring Fork valley, and carry some kid and adult beverages from one of our favorite Colorado cideries, Big B's Orchard!!

I loved this spot for lunch as it was so cool and who can say no to cheese! It took us awhile to decide to order but the process was fast and the food came out rather quick as well. I ordered the classic cheesus which is toasted bread with their tomato basil soup inside. It was delicious OMG! We also ordered the dipper which was roast beef cheese and came with au jous. Also delicious and super hot. The jalapeño breadsticks were just dough with cheese inside and the dipping sauce was the jalapeño part. They were okay I wouldn't recommend but the grilled cheeses here are out of this world. A must try in the Idaho springs area!

We were going to Argo Goldmine & this place came up & looked great. We stopped in & it did not disappoint! We had tomato basil soup with grilled cheese, clam chowder soup, the Big Gyro (without meat), the Big Cuban & the Big Texan. Clam chowder has bacon & potatoes in it. My son was in heaven! We were all very impressed! The mine was closed for tours so this lunch time stop was the best thing to happen to us!

I stopped by Big B's Soup and Grilled Cheese and was immediately greeted by the kindest, most helpful server, who went above and beyond to help me navigate the menu. With so many tempting options, it was tough to choose--but honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything here! All of their soups are made in-house, and you can taste the care in every bite. I tried the Artichoke Cheese Soup, and it was pure comfort in a bowl--like being wrapped in the coziest, warmest blanket. For the sandwich, I went with the Cheesus--a triple-decker grilled cheese masterpiece, with the middle layer of bread dipped in tomato soup. Every bite was melty, crispy, and packed with flavor. If you're a fan of comfort food done right, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back to try more!

Snowboarding meets EDM combine for a come to cheesus moment at Big B's. This hole in the wall place has personality. I'm so happy I stopped in on the way to Aspen/Snowmass. For a fast casual option, I thought, "can't go wrong with grilled cheese and soup right?" Curried Butternut Squash Soup - super flavorful and spicy. This is the first proper curried butternut squash soup I've had in a restaurant. Wow!!! The Cheesus - An ambitious, if slightly soggy option. Triple layer grilled cheese with tomato bisque inside. Indulgent - picture perfect cheese pull. Get messy with it.

Whenever I have a craving for grilled cheese it's gotta be The Cheesus from Big B's! I mean, a soup-STUFFED grilled cheese!? It always hits the spot. There's tons of soups too, this round we tried the chicken enchilada soup and the Tomato artichoke soup. Definitely would get the enchilada one again but I'd pass on the artichoke, it was just ok. Service was good and I love the decor!

From entering the building until we left I was impressed and in awe . The service was fantastic (in nacho libre voice) and the food was top notch. Went with the recommended The Cheesus grilled cheese and it was to die for. Ordered the tomato basil soup but honestly didn't need it. The stuffing of tomato soup was perfect! The Big Southwest sandwich had the perfect combination of turkey, cheese and chillies! To top it off, we had the creme brûlée doughnut and OMG! Obsessed! The ingredients were all fresh and made to order. I will fly out just to come back to this heavenly place haha. Thank you!!

Love to make special trips to Idaho Springs just to go to this place. Everything on the menu is good but my go to is the Big Mario and the beer cheese soup. 10/10 I love this place.

Everything we had was fresh and delicious. Hubby got the big papa and I got the soup flight.. it was 4 ounce portions of six soups, all of which were good, some of which were outstanding! My favorites were the green chili, the tomato and artichoke, and the French onion. There was very minimal staffing, so it took a little while to get our food, but in the end worth the wait. We will definitely stop here again on our way through Idaho Springs .

Super friendly and welcoming folks that serve up an awesome assortment of grilled cheese, soups, and salads. Loved the dill ranch dressing, and the barbecue sauce, too! We will definitely be back.

What you are looking at is $37 worth of food. Two sandwiches two soups (cup sized) in my opinion it wasn't worth it. The sandwiches weren't amazing but we were hungry and already paid for it so whatever. Personally I wouldn't go again I feel like it's just not worth. The inside of the place was fun and silly with a bunch of stickers everywhere. Service was nice as well but just not enough to make me want to come back.

We had lunch here on a day trip to Idaho Springs. The sign with Jesus (although sacrilegious) caught my eye! I had the Big Southwest sandwich which was awesome and my husband had a salad - also fresh and good. The Diet Coke fountain drink tasted off though. Friendly service and cool decor with snow boards.

Delightful vibe, great crew, and incredible food! Discovered it in our way back from the mountains. Needed a quick bite, and there it was. The Cheesus is a miracle: tomato soup baked into the grilled cheese. These folks could figure out a solution to climate crisis or put a person in Mars with that ingenuity. Give them your business!

Love this place. We stop by every time we're in Idaho Springs for the green Chile. It brings back memories for me of the many times my son and I come here. They're friendly and locals eat here too. They've changed up their decor a little and they have more merchandise for sale. I will be getting a Cheesus hat. The jalapeño breadsticks, cup of green Chile, Big Dipper and Lil B's Grilled Cheese were delish! We sat at a table with the map decor on it which I love and she brought our meal to us. She was busy and so was the chef behind the counter. But he took the time to speak to customers who wanted to connect with him. Amazing! Recommend!

Big B's was a bright spot on a cold and dark weekend. I stopped in for a convenient sandwich and left with 2, paired with 2 amazing sauces (barbecue & horseradish ranch). I had the Big Texan and the Big Philly. Like a welcomed flavor bomb for your face!! Brian, the owner, is such a warm and friendly conversationalist. He brought sunshine to my otherwise car crash of a day. I stopped in the following day for tomato bisque soup with jalapeño cheese bread... ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

Every sandwich we had was delicious!!!! The crème brûlée doughnut was incredible!! Cute and casual and super nice service!!!!!

Located in the heart of Idaho Springs. Small restaurant with lots of character. You can't miss the dripping cheese decor on the outside of the building. Once you walk inside, you're greeted with a giant Jesus mural and lots of snowboards mounted on the walls. There is seating inside and outside. Many sandwhich options, some soup, and a fridge full of bottled drinks you can choose from. Sandwhich is a bit small for the price but quite filling. Every suggested the Tomato and artichoke soup so I got a cup to try. This was a creamy soup was so over powered with Dill that you can't really taste anything else. I love dill but that was too much.

Got the soup flight and every one was delicious. Everything we had was packed with flavor. Amazing. Fun atmosphere too.

Service was great. Greeted me and walked me through the menu. Let me try some soups without even asking. Tomato basil was sooo goood. Flavorful and great consistency. The baby grilled cheese was let down by undercooked Kraft singles but the buttery bread was perfectly toasted and truthfully I could've just had that with no cheese. The chili and other sandwiches on other peoples plates looked good. Definitely recommend stopping by on your through.

I'd think twice. Maybe the foods ok, but lets be real, it is only food, nothing really special no matter what your told. All thats there can be bought in a store. Add a little effort, some good BS to the creations and your a Wanna be Super Star. Not to hard to figure out. Great place for the sheep passing thru that dont know better, blow a wad on some grub, why not it's only your hard earned $$$$. As the Saying goes "Cheeses Saves" but many other places up there Slay for the price your gonna pay. $50.00 + FOR 2. Lets be real, its soup and sandwiches.. have fun!

The food was delicious! The place looked nice and had amazing decorations. The place was really welly decorated and had a lot of snowboard binding on the wall.The service was great. The place was open and had a lot of seating. The menu was simple and easy to order from.They was a lot more different grilled cheese options than I knew you could even make.I would recommend Big B's Soup And Grilled Cheese!!

We had the Cuban, Philly and the Jalepeno corn chowder! All absolutely amazing!! The owner was managing the register and he was super cool, giving great recommendations! Vibes were high with good music, fun decor and lots of cheesus! 12/10 will be back and will be recommending to all our friends!

Has become a family favorite on the way down from a day or weekend of skiing. Great selection of grilled cheese varieties and soups; lots to choose from and you can't go wrong. Service is great and store has the charm of someone that has devoted themselves to making the best grilled cheese sandwiches' in Colorado. A must-stop in Idaho Springs.

Heading back to Denver after a day trip to Idaho Springs, we looked up some places to eat. I didn't want fast food chain BS, I wanted something special and local. Found this on Google and decided to give it a try. It was SO worth it and absolutely delicious. I got The Cheesus which is a triple layer grilled cheese with tomato soup and mozzarella cheese. My boyfriend got the Philly. The food was fantastic. So much character in a small restaurant in a small strip mall. We will be back on our next trip.

This place inspired me to create a list called 10s, which is a list of restaurants I come across that are 10 stars. This place is absolutely amazing. I dropped a photo of what we got and put in the caption what they are. All of the food was 10/10. The flavor amazing. The crispy inside and soft exterior of the bread amazing. The meat amazing. The cheese amazing. The ranch amazing. The breadstick with cheese amazing. ALL OF IT AMAZING!!! The service was awesome. They were super friendly and chill as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. Some chill music and awesome snowboards everywhere. If you aren't into the music you can always sit outside! The vibe, food, and service was all amazing!

The staff were super friendly and helpful! Their Philly was one of the best I have ever had and the gyro was so good we got another one to take home. The music was interesting and different. If you haven't been, go!

from the time we pulled up out front, you can tell the creators of this place have a crazy cool sense of humor and creativity. One of these great finds that we would have never found without Yelp. We have driving past at least 100 times. This is a scratch kitchen, they say, meaning more than it takes a little time for the food. But the soups were evident for me that. they are homemade and the sauces certainly did as well. Really great, hot and fresh soup. The roasted red pepper and artichoke was really good. There is a whole lot of things going on in there and really great!. The Chill was some of the best I've had. They claimed to have award winning Chili. The Big Philly was not like most that I've had, but very good and fully of flavor, very moist and cheesy. The "Texan" would have made anyone from Texas envious of the flavor combination. They came out on a small plate and at first glance it looked like very small, I walked away pretty full from the sandwich and a small cup of soup. For me this was a Yelp Find that I will keep as one of my favorites. My only constructive feedback is we came out smelling like smoky food, which it probably the exhaust fans aren't as good as they could be. It appears to be locally owned and have a good support for the local brewery with beers and soda from "Tommy Knockers". Very cool place with really good warm you up food and put a smile on your face.

We decided to stop at Big B's for lunch. I have to say it is worth stopping for. The food has amazing flavors. I had the big Cuban and it was super delicious. My husband had the green chili soup. OMG. Fan fabulous. Very friendly people.

Food here was absolutely amazing and well worth the money! Staff were friendly and recommended the most popular menu options for a first timer. Hope to come back again one day!

The Big Texan was great and the grilled cheese was very good. They have an interesting interior and the owner was very personable. We would definitely return.

All I can say is this, it's a good thing I don't love anywhere close to this place-- and. Y close, I mean like within a 3 hour drive . If I did, I'd most certainly be more than the 30lb overweight that I already am and would almost certainly need a live-in cardiologist because I'd be eating here every freaking day! If the stellar sandwiches, soups and marshmallow treats made of everything except for rice crispies, aren't enough to keep you coming back, the warmth & friendliness of the staff will be.

What I loved- the irreverent signs about "Cheezus", the pinball machine, the artichoke tomato soup was super interesting and different- heavy on the fresh dill, which added tons of flavor. The melting cheese and ski decor was quite the novelty. The sandwiches were pricey, at $11 a piece, and were tasty but not super special. We had the Big Texan and the Cuban. The Texan had a good bbq sauce that came with it, and I liked the cheese melted into the pulled pork as well as the yeasty, crusty bread both sandwiches came on. The Cuban had yellow mustard, pickles cut lengthwise and crinkle cut, with ham. If you're in Idaho Springs and looking for a good sandwich, this is definitely it. I don't think I would make a special trip, but it's on my list of good spots for a quick meal in Idaho spring.

Big B's! Wow, what a find. On our way up to Winter Park and needed a quick bite. Saw the big piece of cheese and decided to stop- who doesn't love soup and grilled cheese?? Holy cow it was amazing. Owner is super cool- explained everything to us- we had the Cheesus. Sublime. Seriously. How the hell did he do that??? Grilled cheese stuffed with tomato soup? My grilled cheeses will forever be subpar after that. Such great food. Cool owners/ staff. Halfway to skiing. We've found our new spot on the way up / back. CHEESUS!!

A sandwich from here after a hike will change your life. I get the Cheesus and am baffled how they get soup into a grilled cheese but they do and it's heavenly.

So glad we stopped here on our way to Vail. My husband had the Big Texan and I the Big Cubano. Both were delicious and the Tomato Basil soup was divine.

Stopped by after a hot soak heading back to Denver. I consider myself a good judge of soups and sandwiches, and Sweet Cheesus these were superb. I got the Philly, which came with not your usual beef, not the overcooked crap cooked days before you get usually. This beef was tender and moist and fresh, which made it one of the better Philly's I've had. There was plenty of ooey gooey cheese and the bread was a perfect host - crisp on the outside, soft and good chew on the inside. Also got the tomato soup and green chile; OMG. I'm from New Mexico and am obsessed with a good green chile stew - this stuff was crazy good. Chunky with all the right stuff, just-the-perfect spice level from some quality chile, and almost a creaminess and richness that came from a good starter broth. Tomato soup is always Meh to me, but this cup had so much dang flavor that it was a whole different class of dish than most bland tomato soups you get. Even a simple saltine drenched in this stuff was absolutely mouthwatering. Not to mention all the different house-made sauces. Doritos Ranch?!?!? I wanted to try them all... next time. These folks are my new lunchtime heroes. First time here, but I'd drive 45 mins from my house to get some more, and soon.

Good stuff. Stopped in here because Buejo's was an hour wait. Nice surprise, especially their signature grilled cheese.

We came in for our first time and had a 5 Star experience. Very happy with the service from Liam. Wonderful ambiance and a fair amount of parking available. The prices are fair as well. I absolutely loved my pastrami sandwich. My wife enjoyed her soup and salad. They played good music inside. A touch too loud with the volume. And I wish the portion sizes were a bit larger. Overall a wonderful experience with lovely decor and artwork inside.

Great decision to stop here on the way back from skiing. Right as we walked in the owner greeted us and gave us a whole rundown of the menu. We got the Big Cubano (his favorite) and the Big Philly. Both superb. The beef on the Philly you could tell was fresh. I also go the pork green chili and it's up there for best cup of chili I've had. I would recommend this to anyone driving through Idaho Springs looking for a good soup or sandwich. We'll for sure be back!

The perfect cold day meal. Service was excellent and restaurant clean. The real star was the fire roasted tomato artichoke soup. Dip the grill cheese in, omg!
