"Why we love it: A wilderness retreat full of natural beauty and rustic luxury The Highlights: - A wide range of accommodations, including luxurious glamping tents - More than enough activities to keep the entire family entertained - A spectacular spa with fireplaces in each treatment room The Review: Nestled deep in the Ozark Mountains, Big Cedar Lodge was built in the early 1920s as a lavish country retreat for two prominent Missourians. It was purchased in 1987 by Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris, who turned it into a fishing camp, then converted it to a high-end wilderness resort spread over 4,600 acres of wooded hollows. Today, it’s a popular place to connect with the great outdoors—amid some serious luxury. Overlooking the blue-green Table Rock Lake, the resort is focused on water recreation, offering activities like fishing, water-skiing, tubing, and rides on just about any boat you could imagine. A favorite choice is the Goin’ Jessi , an exact replica of a 1934 Chris-Craft named after Waylon Jennings’s wife, on which guests can take hour-long tours with champagne. Also on-site are two full-service marinas, four golf courses, and a 50,000-square-foot entertainment center with everything from go-karts, bumper cars, and laser tag to a ropes course, bowling alley, arcade, and climbing wall. When visitors aren’t busy having fun, they’re spending quality time in Big Cedar Lodge’s plentiful accommodations, which range from lodge rooms to cottages to private log cabins with stone fireplaces, private decks, and jetted tubs. For something really unique, however, book an overnight experience at Camp Long Creek, an area just minutes from Big Cedar with camp huts, cabins, and glamping units right on the lake. (Outfitted with king canopy beds, chandeliers, and outdoor living spaces with a fire pit, shower, and galvanized tub for alfresco bathing, the tents are particularly exceptional.) Dining options are equally varied, from a casual café to a fine-dining restaurant to a wine-and-whiskey cellar. Still, the Cedar Creek Spa & Salon is alone worth a visit, thanks to its beautiful stained glass windows, hand-hewn timber ceiling, and stone floors crowned by chandeliers. There’s even an ice room and a candlelit grotto with body jets, plus 12 treatment rooms equipped with fireplaces and robes that are warmed up for post-treatment relaxation."

We just stayed a week at Big Cedar in the Falls Lodge for Christmas. We had a great time overall but our complaint is how overpriced the restaurants are and they didnt have a lot of kid-friendly options. One morning we had the breakfast buffet at Devils Pool, it was $90 for a family of 3 and the food was subpar. We had a better breakfast at a Hampton Inn on the way to Big Cedar. Due to the location of the lodge, there were not a lot of other food locations near by as another option. Our room was nice and so was all the staff we encountered. We used the shuttle service a lot and never had very long wait times. The property was well maintained and the Christmas decorations were nice. We wish the weather had been colder to feel more like Christmas, but we were able to go on a lot of walks to explore, which was nice too. Overall, we are happy with our time at Big Cedar and our 4 year old had a magical Christmas!

This place. 5 star?...Maybe out of 10. We were so disappointed as soon as we stepped in our room. It felt more like Motel 8 with a rustic theme. We typically stay at 4 or 5 star hotels. The bathroom was cheap, the cheap shower vinyl walls could be pushed inward about a half inch. The window in the bathroom was an odd choice, anytime our kids used the bathroom at night it would light up the whole room. The room smelled musty and the carpet needs cleaned. The room door was very gappy and cold air was shooting through. We could hear the people on both sides and above us all night. We ate on-site and each time we waited at least 40 mins and our food was always room temp or cold. Everything was overpriced for the quality. I'm sure this place was nice in the 90s but it desperately needs updating now. I get the feeling they are pushing off remodeling until they get enough complaints. We left a day early, our kids called it a tourist trap. Very underwhelming for the price. If it was 150 a night we'd be fine, 300+ was a straight rip off for what it was. The parking at the registration is a joke, they need more parking spaces. Very disappointed for the money we spent on this vacation. As we were packing up our stuff a family was arriving a few doors down, the wife said "we paid how much for this??" when they walked in the room. Find a better place that cares about the product they put out for people. It's possible to hit the luxury wilderness target, this place misses big time.

Hello, I am a full-time resident in Ridgedale, Missouri, with a dock located in the same cove as Big Cedar Lodge on Table Rock Lake. I’m writing to formally request increased no-wake enforcement and patrol presence in this cove. This area has become extremely congested with boat traffic, particularly during peak hours. Despite clearly marked no-wake zones, a large number of vessels are entering the cove at speed and creating significant wakes. This is causing ongoing damage to docked boats and infrastructure, including repeated wear, scuffing, and strain on mooring systems. This issue is affecting multiple neighboring property owners, many of whom have invested heavily in their boats and docks. The consensus among residents is that this behavior is not malicious but due to lack of awareness and the absence of visible enforcement. Unfortunately, the cumulative impact is severe. Given the volume of traffic associated with the Big Cedar area and the known congestion in this cove, we are respectfully requesting: • Increased Water Patrol presence during high-traffic periods • Active enforcement of the no-wake zone • Consideration of temporary patrols or courtesy boats to educate incoming traffic We deeply appreciate the beauty of this area and understand its popularity. Our goal is simply to protect property, ensure safety, and maintain a respectful shared waterway. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We would be grateful for any follow-up or guidance on next steps. Kind regards, Courtney Schooler

Big Cedar Lodge is truly one of a kind. My family has enjoyed Big Cedar both as patrons and through my work as a balloon artist/event stylist — and every experience has been exceptional. We’ve stayed in the cabins, the glamping tents, and each space has been incredible in its own way. I’ve also had the privilege of styling setups in the Governor’s Suite for events, and the service, attention to detail, and hospitality from the staff have been nothing short of phenomenal. The landscape at Big Cedar Lodge is hard to put into words — breathtaking, peaceful, and so thoughtfully preserved. Whether you’re relaxing by the lake, exploring the grounds, or enjoying the amenities, it’s truly an unforgettable experience. If you’re considering a day trip, a weekend getaway, or a place to celebrate something special, I couldn’t recommend Big Cedar Lodge more. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone who just wants to escape and enjoy something beautiful.

Google
Don't leave items in the lodge. The cleaning staff will choose what they want to keep and what they want to turn into lost and found. The staff was very nice. The entire experience was great. However, we left 3 NBA jerseys and some clothes in our closet and when we called, we paid $70 shipping to have everything sent back, but the jerseys were not present. A member of the cleaning crew clearly stole $375 worth of jerseys and did not turn them in. Disgusting behavior and our family group of 12 will never return here and despite how wonderful the rest of the experience was, I will tell everybody that I know to not go because some staff cannot be trusted.

We recently stayed at Big Cedar Lodge during their "Home for the Holidays" experience, and it was fabulous! Our lakeside cottage was cozy, had everything we needed including a grill, and a beautiful view of Table Rock Lake and its fall foliage. We even had a Christmas tree! The property is decked out in holiday cheer, with lights all over the property, a new ice skating rink, tubing, tram rides, and gingerbread building classes (with an adult version). We LOVED the Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail self-guided electric golf-cart holiday light tour! We barely scratched the surface when it came to their holiday offerings. Kids will love Fun Mountain as there is a bolley alley, arcade, and a ton more for them to enjoy. We also appreciated their on-site restaurant scene. Needless to say, we were well fed on our trip. Lobster thermidor, elk soup, rainbow trout. Yum! We HIGHLY recommend Big Cedar lodge. It is so expansive and has everything you need, making it optional to step foot outside of the property unless you're itching too. You won't be disappointed!

Google
Made a 3 hour drive and arrived shortly after 4pm to ice skate, based on the website hours. When we got there, had to go to the marina to park and wait for a shuttle. When we got to the ice skating, we were informed they wouldn’t be opening until after 6. Even when we arrived we were not given this information. This was supposed to be a day trip for us, and we planned on leaving by 7. Not a lot else to do around the resort without spending a ton of money on activities we weren’t interested in.

Google
We went to the golf cart tour at Top of the Rock this evening which was absolutely amazing! So beautiful and fun. Special shout out to Adrian who showed us where the Buffalo Bar was. He was extremely friendly and went above and beyond by helping get my mom a wheelchair because we had left hers in the car by the golf carts thinking we wouldn't need it. We were able to explore much more of this gorgeous property thanks to him. Excellent service!

Yelp
We had an anniversary trip here in October with great weather, and a lovely cabin at their nearby "Camp Long Creek" area. I'll do my best to sum up the experience, but one can easily see the appeal -free shuttles to take you anywhere and everywhere on property, their own Uber. -A campfire set up for your cabin, but full HVAC inside including an electric fireplace. -Probably the most comfortable 'hotel' bed I can recall -Adjacent pool* -Marina with food/coffee truck* -Loads of restaurants and other things to do around Big Cedar We got a special deal because it's the offseason, and while nice offerings, we ultimately didn't end up using much of them (game card at Fun Mountain, speed boat rental but required boat license and 3 hr class, etc.) One disappointing thing to watch for is there's a reason they have offseason deals, and it was a little bit of a trick. There's a cool pool! But it was closed for maintenance the day we were there. There's a REALLY cool looking Airstream trailer we were banking on for coffee and breakfast, but they changed hours the day or two before we arrived and were closed for the season. Had I known, I would've packed some breakfast foods of my own in a cooler. So a bit of a bummer in that regard. It was still a great trip, and I loved the cabin and the shuttles to get around. I wish they'd stocked the cabin with a little more, especially on the coffee side.. just some weak, motel quality coffee that we churned through the first day. It can be really pricey even packaged together on a deal, but I think it can all be worth it for a special occasion. Nice place and fun first experience.

Yelp
We came to say for our anniversary. We stayed on a holiday weekend and you couldn't tell that they were sold out or very busy. Such a large property that you're pretty spread out you stayed at camp Long Creek in the tiny cabins. When we first got into the cabin, there were wasps so thankfully, My Husband was able to get them out. There was someone parked in our spot. We had to park farther down and they stated the whole time which was unfortunate. Then we had someone in the cabin next to us that according to them had a very aggressive dog that was on a lead and the dog would charge at us with our toddler constantly. I'm not sure why that was allowed. You're in a common area so we were not able to use the fire pit or any of those amenities with the dog out. They left chocolate in our room to make s'mores but once we opened it, it looked very old so we did not touch it and just threw it away There is a lot to do on the properties such as fun mountain, camp Long Creek, the marina, cruise diner tour, a couple restaurants although we only had three options during this weekend because they were over full they said which was unfortunate. We probably wouldn't have booked if we had known this in the beginning because we're excited about the places to try Even realize we didn't talk to security about the dog issue a few times and nothing was ever offered to us to move to a safer cabin or move them to a secluded cabin, which is unfortunate Hopefully, they improve this process and make it more family, friendly in regards to the wasp, people bringing dogs and ensuring all amenities are available

Yelp
We stayed here for three nights as our home base for exploring Branson for our first family summer vacation with my 1-year old daughter. The grounds are beautifully and immaculate and the main buildings and restaurants are gorgeous. The star of the show is, of course, the Top of the Rock with the 9-hole course, Arnie's Barn, General Store, Wine Cellar, Osage Restaurant and Buffalo Bar as well as the Chapel of the Ozark and the golf-cart tour. We really enjoyed the wine cellar, buffalo bar and osage and then enjoyed the view from the back patio and toured the chapel. The pro shop is lovely and had friendly staff and the general store is huge and well-stocked with even more friendly staff. This place is expensive - around $500-600 per person for even the "cheap" rooms and our room was musty and old and smelled moldy with huge wood furniture and a weird bathroom layout in need of major update and a small shower enclosure with no tub. While we enjoyed the two bedroom room and the balcony - it wasn't to the level of the rest of the resort... the rooms need some TLC in a bad way for updates. We visited Fun Mountain and I found it to be impressive with loads of fun things for kids and families to do with bowling, laser tag, an arcade, putt-putt, go karts and a restaurant as well as an outdoor high ropes course and indoor slide. They have several restaurants and pools and walking trails including a paved 5k trail that runs along the lake, waterfalls, and marina area which I enjoyed as well as a huge gym complex. We did not have time to visit the Wilderness Center and Lazy River on this visit or get a paddle boat or canoe because we had our one year old but plan to take advantage of the marina and other amenities next time.

Yelp
All great with few major errors. Gal at checkin was extremely hard to understand (from Ecuador?). Her info was wrong. They push an app for everything that doesn't work worth crap. Took us to wrong building. Does do half the stuff it purports and menus all wrong. The golf cart tour is awesome but the winter covers make it nearly impossible for those in back seats to see. Worst was I have bad knee. We were put three big flights of stairs up in a building with no elevator. That was really inexcusable. No one warned us. Other than these things.... a beautiful fun place.

Yelp
This is such an amazing place to stay. I really can't recommend it enough. We were doing a US coast to coast road trip and this was our favorite stay of the trip. Easy to find and close to town but still away from everything. Once you pass the gates the drive in is beautiful. The check in area is also really pretty and check in was fast and easy. Our room was very nice. The room was nice size, comfortable, and had everything you could want. The on property activities are fantastic!!

Yelp
This is a wonderful nature retreat and is well maintained. The environment is aesthetically pleasing and there is something for everyone to do here including families. There are plenty of food options available. A note of complaint: I was not able to check in upon arrival although it was after 4pm. No apologies. Just sit & wait until I get a text stating I can now check in. Perhaps just clean the rooms of those who check out instead of every room every day might help. I know it would help aid conservation efforts. No need to wash everyone's towels on a daily basis. Also it seems the shuttle service has some "glitches". If one gets a confirmation of shuttle service pickup it is expected that there would be a shuttle at the confirmed time and location. Not always the case. These are minor complaints to the overall picture of a lovely getaway and time well spent. The museum at Top of the Rock is world-class.

Yelp
Pros: we stayed at Camp Long Creek glamping tent. I loved it! Everything was so cute and so well thought out. There were automatic lights that would come on at night if I needed to go to the bathroom. There is a fence built around the tent for safety and security. The tent felt really sturdy. It definitely can withstand rainy weather. The view was amazing. The customer service was good. Very consistent communication. The grounds were well-maintained. And Cons: that being said, I don't think I would do it again. It was a tent. There was a spider on our pillow. The tent had to be sprayed for wasps. I heard weird noises all night long. The tent is built on top of a treehouse platform. Very creaky. One and done.

Yelp
We stayed in November and was placed in a cottage. Made our reservations in May and wanted a cabin. The furniture was in bad shape. Went to eat at Buffalo Bar. Lost our food order. We sat there from 6:30p and finally left the restaurant at 9:00p. Was late getting on the golf cart to see the Christmas lights because of the restaurant issue. It was just a bad trip and so disappointing. The sad part was we paid over $3,000 for our trip to Big Cedar Lodge and had a bad experience. They charge for everything, I accidentally forgot my toothbrush and asked for one at the reservation desk when we checked in and was told I could purchase one in the gift shop. We called for a shuttle to pick us up at our cottage and went outside to wait. Three shuttles flew by but didn't stop. So when the next one came by we stood in the middle of the road until he stopped and then he told us he couldn't take us to the Buffalo Bar so we had to wait a while longer. When I contacted Big Cedar to let them know how our stay was all we received back was an email back basically saying we will pass on your concerns. Never heard another word. Sad to say we will not go back again. We live in the area where Johnny started his first store and we shopped at his store when the store first opened.

Yelp
Beautiful golf courses, food and staff at the courses were great!! Lodging and staff around the lodges could be more accommodating to groups having fun! Also the pools food and drinks close at 6pm, but pool open till 10pm... feel like that's a lot of money lost. I know it was with our group. 12 guys who can eat and drink! Overall great time and beautiful piece of property!

Yelp
We stayed at Camp Long Creek for my birthday weekend in one of the glamping tents. Overall, I give our stay five stars. The tent was clean and well kept, I do wish there had been a slightly bigger table inside to set things on. The courtyard was lovely, however there was dead plants in the little planter by the door. Our tent did have a tear in the mesh door near the bottom of the zipper, which could have let in squirrels if we had left the main canvas door open. And the door to our courtyard was a little difficult to open. The food was very good, and we loved all the activities we did. Front desk staff and shuttle staff were all great. Waitstaff and other service staff (shops) could have used a bit of extra attention to customers. Will definitely return to visit in the future.

Ron S.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever seen a place more adept at relieving you of you money, in small increments as Big Cedar Lodge. Just to get your car to the general area of restaurants is 10 bucks, with an additional 20 to park. Not a ransom, but certainly an irritant. Menu is very limited, and pricing compares poorly to top end restaurants in major cities. My guess is that they aren't looking for a lot of long term business.

Linda A.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed in what was meant to be a high-end stay. After spending several thousand dollars, our reservations were mishandled multiple times -- including both our room and dinner. After the second room mistake (which cost us our two-bedroom cottage), I had to ask Shannon for any recognition of the inconvenience; she then offered a 10% discount. On the third issue, Shannon assured us we'd be moved to a comparable cabin -- instead, we were given two one-bedroom cabins. When Adam took over, he refused to honor the discount and offered only a $200 food credit. Meanwhile, Courtney tried to frame a $2,500 private dining room as a favor. The only sincere apology came from the front desk operator. Communication, organization, and accountability have been unacceptable. Guests deserve better.

Yelp
Wow what a beautiful place. Will hopefully be back again someday. Loved the views and the ambiance.

Yelp
Amazing honeymoon location stayed for a week and every day was great everyone was genuinely happy to work there and so friendly and curious about where you came from

Yelp
Attended Fishing dreams event for Veterans. The Bent Hook Marina is great. Excellent staff and the shop has anything you might need on or off the water. The food made by the staff was excellent. Especially the butter milk fried chicken. Very juicy and flavorful. The Veteran's day ceremony was great. The speaker did a wonderful job. The Veterans were treated so well. Thank you

Yelp
Big Cedar Lodge is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. The theme of the resort is carried down to the smallest details including trash cans and parking blocks that look like logs. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing everywhere we ate. The accommodations were beautiful and clean and comfortable. This place is absolutely perfect and we cannot wait to go back. Thank you for the perfect winter getaway

Chuck S.

Yelp
We love Big Cedar Lodge and have stayed multiple times and will return. However during our most recent visit the food was absolutely horrible. Worman house was over priced, stale bread, free appetizer (rice cake) tasteless, after dinner treat (blue mint) had to spit out, and filet was below average. $280 for two people I would expect it to reach level of fine dining. Top of the Rock brunch was very good but over priced. Top of the Rock Grill - Chicken Caesar Salad - Chicken cold and tasteless - service slow, old fashioned was absolutely awful. Great golf, great room, restaurants are rip off. Living on name and past reputation. Come for golf. Stay away from all dining.

Joe S.

Yelp
What a fantastic place. I can't say enough about every aspect of our trip. The food, service, and the facilities were all excellent. The money being invested in this place is amazing. Hats off to Mr. Morris, he really has the right formula.

Deni L.

Yelp
Horrible! Overrated! Rooms in lodge awful! No coffee machine worthwhile in room. Water pressure, non existent. Just awful!

Yelp
My family and I have gone to Big Cedar 4 times in the past 10 years. We always get a private cabin as we love the experience. It has been fun to see Big Cedar grow and add new activities for families on-site. There are many fun activities to do around the site as well. Be sure to check out the museum and golf cart adventure through the cave. Both are definitely worth your time.

Yelp
This isn't your normal hotel, this isn't your normal resort. Big Cedar Lodge is by far the best resort in the Branson area. It has so much to offer, you could easily stay on property (4,600 acres to explore) and enjoy every minute. It for sure is 'Rustic Luxury' tucked away in 'Rustic beauty', about 15 minutes south of Branson and on Table Rock Lake this resort (and I've stayed at many Disney, Singapore, Indonesia, Aspen, Aruba) is my favorite. I love the remoteness of it the quietness of it and all the thought and amenities put into BCL are second to none and I don't think can be beaten. Stunning views coupled with stunning architecture and unbeatable amenities make BCL a destination you should not pass up on. Many amenities are free - pedal-boats, kayaking and canoeing, fishing excursion, miniature golf, 5 pools and a lazy river, lakeside beach, fitness gym, movie night with s'mores and popcorn. All top quality and maintained with excellence, because remember it's 'rustic luxury'. I'm sure I've forgotten some of the free amenities, but it's awesome. And a free shuttle on property. But then for a fee you can do so many other things, check out the activities and events going onsite as thru change depending on the season. You've got bowline, go cart, ropes course, archery tag, shooting academy, the scavenger hunt (which we won), brews and bingo, kids bingo, billiards, spa, motor boats, a dinner cruise, the spin zone and arcade. Many of these things are at Fun Mountain and our kids and us loved Fun Mountain. I've forgotten to mention all the maxing golf courses, incredible and breathtaking. Then you've got all the places to eat, from Truman's cafe for coffee, breakfast and lunch to first class dining and the Worman House, to fun bars at the buzzard bar, plus many more restaurants onsite and the sister property at 'Top of the Rock' like Osage (stunning views) and the buffalo bar or wine cellar. This is a property that can't be beat. I know I'm missing things, but this is a place that you'll want to check out at different times of year, just because of the different seasons and the incredible property that BCL calls home.

Yelp
Am only reviewing the restaurant. We were there because of a BlueGreen presentation. When finished wanted place to eat without driving. We ate at the Buzzard Bar. There was at least one other option, but the menu wasn't what we wanted. The ambiance was great. Very rustic and all wood everything. We ate in the restaurant area in what I believe is the basement. Be aware the room is not very large so could easily be crowded, although we were there before the evening dinner crowd. We both ordered the French Dip and we both liked it. The menu is limited. It didn't bother us as we had several options. The meal for a sandwich is pricy, $18. It was very good though. This place and the ground around it might be difficult or impossible for a handicapped individual as the parking area is on the side of a hill and the overflow is through a stand of trees. I loved the setting but was aware of how hard it was for some to get around. We were there just before the evening dinner rush, which started early. We arrived between 4-5pm. The casual tourist will never be here as it is well off the road. The resort is large. We both wondered how easy it would be if one stayed there because it didn't seem there were many options for meals.

Yelp
Awesome place, best museum I've ever visited. Really nice golf course if you don't mind spending the money.

Sean S.

Yelp
Lied to from the start! And for some reason, even though they already had all my information, they made me send them another email to set up our shuttles for our golf. Then we try to rent a boat and we get turned away bc they said they can't do anything in case it gets busy. It was empty and nobody was booking anything. Terrible customer service. Fuck this place! Don't ever go here!
google avatar

Kathleen R.

Yelp
Wow! Really want to stay here! We were on a weekend getaway and stopped to tour this Resort! We were blown away at how incredible this place is. It's huge and so well done! Restaurants, shops, anything you can think of. It's the kind of place you go on vacation and just stay there! Only drawback is it's $$$$. So someday!

Yelp
We had a great time hosting my Uncle's surprise 60th birthday here in July!! Our coordinator was Rachel and she was amazing from beginning to end. Rachel, thank you for everything. This venue was everything and was perfect for this birthday celebration. Our server who assisted with the entire party was fantastic. She didn't miss a beat. We had great service the entire time. This will be a memory we will never forget. The scenery outside was absolutely beautiful and we were able to capture so many photos. Thank you again for allowing us to celebrate in such an amazing venue with great service.

Carolyn A.

Yelp
We had a cabin for a week and loved every minute of our time at the resort and surrounding areas. Top Of the Rock and Dogwood Cannon are must sees. We enjoyed horseback riding, boating the lake, going to the pools, playing golf, the wonderful museum, and exploring. Beautiful great vacation destination for all ages.

Yelp
Our family booked this little getaway with our 2 boys because we thought it would be an excellent escape and we could even visit Silver Dollar City we call that a win win! We are from Oklahoma City so it is about 5 hours. We have a 1.5 year old and 6 year old boys. The morning we were supposed to check in I got a text and email that said thank you for staying with us, etc. as if we had already stayed. I called the front desk that morning frantic thinking I made the wrong reservation no.. that was sent in error. I told them we were in town and they said she would make note on our reservation and should be able to check in early. I thought that was great and nice so we show up 2 hours ( 1pm)before checkin to find the room isn't ready. Which is fine no big deal. We decide to go to fun mountain to visit the arcade and kill a few hours we have lunch at uncle bucks and it was pretty decent bar style food. The kids meals were massive! We go back down at 3 to check in and we get a text that the water is out. We ask multiple people at the front desk if that will come back because since we have kids we are not up for being somewhere without water. Our younger son is a cleft lip and palate child and only drinks out of certain cups we always have to wash and sterilize at night. They assured us it would be on by 4 this was at 3. We said sure what is 1 hour. They then proceeded to say how they look forward to seeing us in a few weeks over thanksgiving. I'm sorry what? I didn't make a reservation over thanksgiving! The gentleman gives us a s'mores kit and really talks it up to our 6 year old so of course we have to do that in the evening with him super cute gesture they do! We walk up to our room it was cozy and sit down our luggage and the people below us hit the ceiling .... We thought oh my this is going to be a long night. We go play outside at their little playground and then walk over to reception desk to see where they recommend for dinner. They tell us since we have kids we really need to stay at lookout mountain and that's it. We felt trapped if we would've known this i could've taken my kids to our local arcade. Very frustrating - we didn't expect to take them to some of the nicer steakhouses but at least another option. So back to lookout mountain where the arcade was and eating at the same spot we had lunch because we were told that was the only option... thank goodness we had the s'mores as something to do ! So we walk with the stroller down these big hills going everywhere can't find it... back to reception we go only to find out s'mores aren't even offered on a Sunday night what a joke. Why give us the kit and tell us directions to it then. Back up to our hotel room we went and as i shut the door a pair of dirty socks from the guests before us were behind the door beside the chair. That was the final straw it was 7:30 at this time we were tired frustrated and miserable. We hadn't even unpacked and decided to go back to reception for the 100th time it seemed and told them we were checking out. We did get our $ back because oh yeah still NO water. Our dog had just died a few weeks before our little family was really needing an escape and something happy. We got home that night around 12:30 and were just so exhausted. When we were waiting we even bought big cedar shirts which i can't for the life of me wear because I'm reminded of the nightmare of this day! This definitely got us out of the house but i wanted more than anything just to be back home. I've Heard so many good things about this place but it was nothing but disappointing. This was in November of 2022. It's taken me some time to write this because so much happened.

Yelp
This review is not about the resort it's our experience at the gift shop by registration Whatever gentleman that works in the gift shop by registration, needs to learn to speak to all customers or none at all I watched a lady who had one tee shirt in her hand and he asked her if she wanted him to hold it for her at the register so she could finish shopping, meanwhile myself and my wife both had two shirts in our hands and a hat a grand total of about $225.00 of stuff, he didn't even speak to or look at us or whenever he walked by my wife not one mention of hello as he ran his mouth to other customers and to the other employee, he didn't even speak when we left after putting the stuff up, we are no more or no less dressed different than the other customers factually I have on a polo a Ralph Lauren polo to be specific not that it matters I'm just saying we aren't people that you would look at and say no, to we average middle aged white yuppies so to the guy in the red shirt working at the gift shop learn some basic common courtesy

Yelp
Beware of this place! I made reservations for 5 one-bedroom units and 2 two-bedroom units 16 months out. I called to move the reservations by 2 days and the said they would not guarantee the room rates and would have to charge me $700 for a change fee. I said that was ridiculous and wanted to cancel. They then said they would have to charge another $700 fee to cancel. I argued with them and they agreed to charge only $700. Still ridiculous given the reservation was so far out and they would not guarantee the room rates.

Yelp
I was so excited to stay at this lodge. When we arrived at the check in, we were not welcomed in the way we expected. It was kind of nonchalant. The registration building is very beautiful with lots of gorgeous flowers and country decor. We got our keys and headed to our lodge. The lodges are pretty scattered and there are some windy roadways to get to them. Parking was not so easy. There were limited spots so we ended up having to lug our luggage a bit of a distance. There were not carts which made it a little difficult. It was a really hot day, which was worse. No offer of help was given. We got to our lodge and inside, it had a very big lobby with animal heads all over it. It lacked any real coziness like other lodges I've been to. Our room was pretty good size with huge vaulted ceilings. It has a pretty comfortable bed and pillows and a nice porch with rocking chairs on it. There was a fireplace in it, as well. The room had only one sink which was made it kind of hard for two of us to get dressed at the same time. The shower was very small and the water pressure was horrible. It took me about 10 minutes to wash my hair because I couldn't get the soap and conditioner out. We did go to Devil's pool one day. It was over 100 degrees while we were there, and there were NO umbrellas for any of the lounge chairs. The only umbrellas were at tables. We stopped by the upstairs restaurant at Devil's Pool one night. The bartender was nice and was willing to try to make some drinks we asked for. We ordered an appetizer and two dinners. Our dinners came out super quickly and THEN the appetizer. Hmmm? We ate at Osage restaurant one night and it was pretty good. My husband had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. I had the Sea Bass and it was kind of almost spongy. It lacked any real flavor. They did have a nice sunset ceremony where bagpipers play and a cannon is shot off. The downstairs bartender was really nice. We decided to use the free shuttle service the resort provides to get to Top of the Rock for dinner. Little did we know that we'd have to make a couple of transfers to get there. If you plan to use the shuttle, plan accordingly. I may take a while. We ended up being about 15 minutes late for our reservation due to the shuttles and when we arrived at the restaurant, we had to wait about 30 extra minutes. We played three of the golf courses connected with the resort-Top of the Rock, Ozark National, and Payne's Valley. All of them were spectacular! I utilized the gym a couple of times while visiting. It is a very nice gym packed with a variety of equipment. I did suggest putting in a couple of Pelotons. When driving at night in this resort, please do so with EXTREME caution! There are no lights anywhere. It was very difficult to see people walking or animals in the roadways. Not sure why they don't put some lights on the sides of the roads to help with this. The stay overall was ok. It was quite expensive and we thought it would've been much better. We weren't aware that this place is owned and operated by Bass Pro Shops. With as much as it cost, I expected more.

Yelp
We have loved our stay at this gorgeous resort! The staff is so friendly everywhere you go on property, the grounds are beautifully kept, and there is so much to do and see around Big Cedar Lodge! We love all the fall decor around the resort, and the kids have had fun with some of the activities as well. (One kid loved the haunted maze, and the other said it was too scary.) My kids favorite thing was room service . I have to admit, the room service was top-notch. The food always arrived hot and delicious, and Waylon was so friendly and thought of everything we might need. It is pricey as far as resorts go, but there is a lot to see and do. We didn't get to go swimming because it was a little chilly out, (the pools are heated, but it was more about getting OUT of the water that kept us away) but we will do that next time. We went to the top of the rock, and went to the museum there. The museum was HUGE, and took a few hours to walk through. (It looked like it was small, but it just kept going and going. There was so much in there!) We wanted to do the golf cart tour, but we arrived in the afternoon, and there was a very long wait, so we skipped it this time. The sights and drive around the property were gorgeous, though. There were SO many flowers, too! We did move to a different room after the first few nights since my husband snores, and the room we were in originally had two queen beds in the same space, and my kids didn't appreciate being woken up at night. The front desk moved us to a different room that had beds in different rooms, and they were very sweet and accommodating. I will say, this second room needs some serious updating, but we just know for next visit to try to stay in a cabin or maybe get two rooms in the falls lodge. We loved the large bathtub and two patios in our double queen room in the falls lodge. This second room by Devil's pool has a tiny shower, no bathtub, and zero privacy on the balcony. We could hear our neighbors on their balcony, they were so close, and anytime someone would walk by our room we could hear them as well. These are minor inconveniences, and not enough for us to not give it a 5 star review. We just know not to book this part of the resort for our next visit.

Yelp
This place is really adorable. The decor is so mountain chic, the location is convenient. I was in the area and stayed in a tent last night but with the rain and cool temperatures it was kind of miserable, so I splurged and went for a cabin this evening. I searched for cabins in the area on Airbnb while I was at lunch at Devil's Cove / Buzzards Bar, and decided to see what was available in the Big Cedar Lodge development. I was happy to see that they had cabins available that allowed dogs, and from the pictures online it looked pretty cute. I booked a room and received an email pretty shortly after, the room was available for check-in in an hour. Camp Long Creek was about 15 minutes from where I was and was pretty smooth getting there. There was a check-in reception building at the entrance of the Camp Long Creek development that had a nice large vibe. I was pretty amazed that all of the fees stocked up to be so extraordinate for a one-night stay. Not only was it the nightly rate of $289, they also tucked on almost $100 for resort fees, taxes, and an additional $75 for my dog! Had I known that, I probably would have gone with some of the other cabins in the area. Had it not been raining, I probably would have taken advantage of the things available on the resort, Putt-Putt, drive through Christmas light display, etc. The cabins were laid out around the lake and Marina, it is about 15 minutes from the main Big Cedar Lodge. The one I stayed in had a screened-in porch, electronic fireplace, kitchenette, dining table, bathroom, bedroom with king size bed. I really liked the decor of the space. The walls had White shiplap, dark wood beams for the ceiling, a rustic vintage lodge feel. Everything was clean and cozy. This really is a good example of how a small footprint can have a large expansive feel. Everything you need is provided, dishes, crisp linens, fresh towels. It rained today so it was nice to sit on the covered patio and listen to it rained before it got dark. The windows all have a hand crank, it was nice to have the windows open before the rain got too heavy. It was a beautiful experience, I really do wish they had laid out all of the fees beforehand though.

Yelp
I've always wanted to stay here. Wanted to fish on Table Rock lake, and enjoy the Ozarks in a 1st class way. We stayed in the Jack cabin at Top of the Rock. Wow, just wow! You're isolated from everyone. And everything. If you want to be near the hustle & bustle of the resort, do t stay here. But if you want a cabin built in the 1800's and relocated here that gives you the sense of rustic living in the Ozarks, this is the place for you. It's not cheap. But if you can justify it, do it! Pros: Cabin is spacious, two king beds. One downstairs and one up. Main shower is to die for! Bath tub in main is adorable and huge Isolated from the crowds Private golf carts Views for days Rustic cabin feel with AC Guided fishing trip from Bent Hook marina. We caught about 20 fish. My son had an amazing time! Cons: You'll have some bugs. But you get that when you're in the woods! I was warm, wife was cold. But what's new Internet sucks. But, maybe it should so the kids are forced to enjoy nature? Golfers will see you! Be careful what you do and what you're wearing, peepers all around during the day haha! But seriously, every morning we found golfers looking to see if anyone was in here Front door doesn't lock. Old door and doesn't lock/shut properly. Sketch so bring a "friend" Food options. I'll admit, I'm a foodie and this place does NOT have good food. Osage was gross and over priced. They need a restaurant consultant to help specially because the closest place to get different food is Branson. Overall I LOVED our stay and the property and most of the staff.

Yelp
Over crowded in summer, food is made at 1 of the restaurants & warmed up at all the rest. VERY Over priced! With most of their guests being rich & entitled. Upside-Front desk staff is pleasant & helpful & most of the service staff is friendly.

Yelp
Man, was I disappointed. Maybe my expectation of a resort is different, so that might be on me. When we booked a room for five of us, we decided to go with a "standard" hotel room - two queen beds with a roll away. At $300, I thought this included a little bit of everything - but it didn't. Sure you could canoe (more on that later), paddle boat, swim, and walk the grounds, but you could do little to nothing else without first ponying up some cash. The room was antiquated. The bathroom was so incredibly small and - surprise! - it had a window to the sleeping area. The humidity was high, so even at 66 degrees the room was hot and sticky. The roll away was brought in much later, and they only had two of us listed originally instead of five. We initially were going for two nights but could only get one. Thank God! They said, "Oh, we can get you in one of our cabins for $1,100 a night." Um, no. We ventured to Fun Mountain where everything cost money. Go carts? $10. Rope course? $25. Pool table? $10. Bowling? $50 per hr. We elected to do the go carts for $10 apiece ($40 total). We road twice and both times one of the carts broke down again and again. Every time this happened, they'd stop everyone for safety purposes. It just seemed like we didn't get the experience that we had hoped for. Everyone said to go canoe as it closed at 9PM. Because of the go carts stopping, we didn't get there until 8:20PM. That should've been enough time - except that they actually closed at 8PM! So literally just wasting our time. We ventured to the free movie night. Tom & Jerry. Yay. Everything cost - s'mores were $5. Ha ha. So ultimately we ventured back up to our hotel room where we couldn't sleep well due to the AC not keeping up with the humidity. The stomping of kids above us all night and early the next morning didn't help. Hot and sticky and no sleep. Room Service knocked on our door at 9:10AM even though checkout was at 11AM. We were going to do the Top of the Rock tour, but at $37 per person that was a hard no. If we had just gone here and no where else in Branson, I might've enjoyed it more. But thankfully we didn't. The area is incredibly nice and sprawling - thousands of acres. It has this pretty cool "Dirty Dancing" vibe to it that would've been awesome back in the day. But by today's standards - and they're pricing - this should have been more enjoyable.

Yelp
The whole portion of our stay was trampled by the way we got treated during the dining experience. I get we aren't in upscale NYC, Short Hills NJ, Highland Park.... Los Altos Hills, etc etc we are in the "midwest". MISSOURI... needless to say we wanted to sit in a nice area of the dining to take it all in, for our vacation and visit with Mr. Neal McCoy -yes the country singer. So we asked for a seat at the top section, when the snooty host told my husband and I that "there are no seats, and there are seats open on the main floor, they serve fries on their menu." We felt judged upon our step into the establishment and felt terribly awful to stay at the resort for the one egregious treatment. As if the host wanted us to hear it, we had to. The rest of the guests looked at my husband and I like as if we didn't belong there. We are from Oklahoma, and we know how to dress. We know how to tip. This is marked as a "no-go" for the lifetime of our ventures outward into future stays of this area. Buzzard Bar isn't where it's at. Be careful for what you ask for and use your review/place of stay wisely. The hospitality and a disgruntled seating host don't mix well here.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this resort . We did make the mistake of getting a regular cabin . It was sooooo tiny and the bathroom was old and tired . We would like to come back , but will not stay in one of those cabins . The restaurants were nice and we even bowled . We never had to use our car because a shuttle would come get us and us anywhere in the resort that we wanted to go to .

Yelp
We decided to come here instead of going to Colorado. Rooms were a bit cheaper because it was winter. There were 4 restaurants open, and one pool. We stayed at the Falls Lodge; apparently during the normal season these rooms are over $600 a night!!! While the view was nice, and the beds okay. I don't feel in any way the price is justified. Especially when you discover all the amenities that you think are included can also be enjoyed by "non guests!" That's right you may have an hour wait for dinner because Billy from Hollister wants to take out his family and 6 friends to Big Cedar! That alone is enough to make me never want to pay these prices. You pay for an inclusive experience you expect someone who didn't shouldn't enjoy them too. We went on a Thursday and it was pretty dead, and we were able to enjoy the area with other guests, but by Friday everything was packed!!!

Yelp
First time visiting Big Cedar Lodge. Wow. One word to describe it all? BEAUTIFUL. From the drive in, the resort grounds, the rooms, the views, all of it is stunning. We stayed 6 days, 5 nights in the Falls Lodge. It's beautifully decorated in rustic decor, we even had a Christmas tree in our room. All of it beautiful. Everyone was extremely helpful. House keeping done a fantastic each day. My only complaint would be an occasional slow WIFI but I've been told that's being addressed and hopefully updated soon. There's plenty to do on the resort. Fun Mountain is a kids paradise. Since we were there during the holidays, we were able to ice skate & do the Christmas Light tractor tour. This place is truly spectacular. It's extremely family friendly for visitors with kids but I could 100% make this a romantic trip with the wife. We'll back again soon, we had a great family vacation.

Yelp
Okay, I didn't find options to review dining spots individually so I'm combining the experience at Big Cedar Lodge. It's basically like a small town of its own with restaurants inside of the complex. Which, we didn't realize was the situation at reservation but I digress... So, first arrival, you're gonna take about 3mi of winding road to get to the registration center; not a joke, that's what the sign says and if not for the sign we would've thought we were driving somewhere definitely haunted. We arrived at night (snowstorm in our starting state) and the area is not well lit. Good for not causing city glow, not great for driving. Registration, they give you a card to fill out that seems like you could do all that previously when you book, but they want you to get their app-- which I gave up and eventually did but that was after checking in. Also, that check in card is just worded oddly, like just put "sign here" where you want a signature, it is not the Declaration of Independence. They didn't write the lodge name on the packet and in thinking it would be, we didn't ask after the fast spoken directions, lol. Yet, we made it first try. I should say the packet comes with a couple coupons and a list of things to do there-- which we did not have time to do before moving on, but it looked interesting. The stairs leading up from the parking lot, made of stone, ARE NOT EQUAL HEIGHT! I share my embarrassment for the sake of any elderly people who might stay-- I crashed and burned on those stairs. It really hurt my shins and my pride. There are no caution signs either. Get to the room, and the pictures on the site where we booked are deceptive... it's the same room but like real estate pictures of the room, lol. That's the point I guess. But, it was okay. Nice little gift basket, lodge decor. There was a big window from the room to the bathroom , though, that... why? Lol. Like, in what world is that necessary? Went with a friend mind you, not my partner, double queen room. Anyway, we arrived pretty late, we had hoped the Top of the Rock/Osage place would be open but everything basically closes at 8pm there. Only option was Buzzard Bar for dinner. If I had another option within the complex, I would've gone anywhere to get away from how loud the live music was. I am hard of hearing too, if that fills you in. It was just so loud; my friend also was very bothered by it. I do not envy the servers who had to just deal with it without a choice, cause we thought about getting everything to go and the server we talked with agreed about how loud it was. Thankfully the cowboy took a break from his guitar while were deciding and we ate just in time. Like, that's got to be some kind of comp for hearing loss for those staff. I'm saying it here, if any of you need it. But... the salmon and risotto I got, salmon was great-- juicy not dry, risotto was plain tasting. Server was just, an absolute sweetheart of a man. Morning, we gotta book it... so we go to the Truman café for breakfast (why am I writing like a 1930s detective in a talkie?). Great quiche, just so savory and good. Decent latte. Wonderful view. Right after, we went to the shoppe that's over there and got some souvenirs and gifts for the friend we were on our way to; it's a really nice shoppe. The nature tower is... it's kinda neat, but it's missing some displays and it looks like someone busted the butterfly case. All in all, I would honestly go back and I want to in order to try the other things that are available there, it is a unique and interesting place, so this is just... like some of these are the worst things about my experience and none of it is that bad (maybe except for the eardrum shattering music... and the death stairs, lol). But, hopefully this helps someone know a bit more about what they're getting into than we did, haha.

Yelp
Big Cedar Lodge is an amazing to place to get away from the busyness of our everyday lives and enjoy the nature around us. It is beautiful here any time of year. Right now, the Christmas lights are up, and everything is so festive. Activities abound- lake activities, mini golf, swimming/hot tubs, family bonfires, and much more. There is something for everyone, but sometimes, the scenery is enough for me. Situated on the beautiful Table Rock Lake and surrounded by trees and mountains, the view is all I need. The service and facilities are top notch. Although many activities are pricey, there are some complimentary things as well. Movies, games, bonfires, and some scavenger hunts, etc are all free. And the cookies delivered daily to your room are a nice touch. The lodges and cottages are, of course, decorated with wildlife and an outdoorsy motif. The rooms and property are kept clean and well manicured. If you need a getaway, and you enjoy the outdoors, I highly recommend Big Cedar Lodge!

Yelp
This place is extremely expensive. Beware when you book and cancel even with a month's notice they will take a $100 fee out of your booking for themselves. These folks are money hungry and greedy. I know they aren't fully booked on a Sunday night in mid January. I won't be back and I'll tell everyone I know of this policy. I don't want to support misleading businesses, and word of mouth counts for something even though you act like you couldn't care less on the phone today. THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T CARE ABOUT STEALING YOUR HARD ERANED MONEY. They won't tell you this upfront.

Yelp
Pros: - rooms comfortable and space with different price ranges - nightly cookies in your room - paddle boats included in room rate - friendly staff - free shuttle that takes you anywhere inside the huge property. Cons: - the restaurants are always full, expensive and the food is so so I stayed here off season in March and opted for a cheaper room not overlooking the lake. We stayed in room 220 and it was great. The check In was super easy and fast. They had our spa reservations ready and reminded us of them. They offered to either have the extras charged to our room or we could pay as we go. We opted to pay as we go. The room was comfortable for two females. We each had a very comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. The room had a fridge, but no microwave. They did have a coffee pot. The coffee and tea were replenished almost daily. The bathroom was a little on the small side. Thank goodness for the vanity just outside the bathroom. That had plenty of space for our toiletries, make up and hair products. The toilets flushing was poor. We had to actually hold down the lever for the toilet paper to flush. The shower always had hot water. The toiletries included shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The shampoo had a medicated smell, but the conditioner and lotion were nice smelling. We enjoyed the nightly gingerbread cookies. That was a sweet note. The property is beautiful and big. There's paved walking trails. Everything is closer than you think, but they do have a free shuttle that doesn't take long to come when you call them. We loved the paddle boats. They were included in the rate and we had no time limit while on them. They had activities schedule throughout the day. Some were free and some were not. Kids will stay busy here. They have a few pools. The on site restaurants offers a little bit of everything. Just beware that you are paying lodge prices. The spa was nice. We did get pedicures that I felt weren't up to par for what a normal pedicure would be, but I did not take advantage of their massage or facials. Prices for pedi and manis are comparable to any salon, but massage and facials are a little steep. Parking on property is easy and free. Tips: -if you want to eat off property, it will be a 20 min drive either direction. - do try to eat at the Keeter Center while in town. Do make reservations.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous and exceeded my expectations. Went in late September and everything was decorated in fall colors and pumpkins. They even had a Halloween maze. So many things to do for families. We rented a cabin close to the lake. Service was excellent. The staff provided us with towels daily, they even did our dishes while we were gone having fun. As far as covid restrictions, you are required to wear masks in buildings and in restaurants. I felt the tables in the restaurants were not spaced out further (not like in Vegas). There is a marina on the resort property where you can kayak, canoe, paddle boat, and fish. Really a wonderful place to get close to nature.

Yelp
This resort, location, accommodations are first rate! I'm a repeat guest and will definitely return. This visit we stayed in room 611 - a cabin on property near Bent Hook Marina. We had no hot water - cold showers are the worst! Half the lights didn't work so we used our smart phone flashlights in those areas. We called the front desk a couple of times due to the room phones being very staticky (?). Once the front desk understood, they sent over maintenance. He arrived and promptly fixed the pilot on the hot water heater and the fuse for the lights. He was very friendly and apologetic. I can't help but wonder if there isn't a checklist in advance of guests arrival to ensure things are working properly so paying guests don't have to be inconvenienced during their stay.

Yelp
This is a huge property with many lodges on site. I stayed in Valley View on the odd numbered side of the building, looking out on the valley. I was completely exhausted from a very long day of travel and just wanted to go to sleep, but no, they were having a DJ Dance Party, with music blasting and base pounding. So terrible. I was told 'it is only held on Thursday, Friday, Saturday...' every night I'm there. They also said that they'd gotten several complaints about the sound level so would let those in charge know so that the next night it wouldn't be so bad. I asked to change rooms but was told that they were sold out. The next night it was still terrible. You can also hear everything going on above you and next door to you (connecting room - even though I didn't know the folks). I was kept up until about 1AM each night and woken up at 7AM the next morning. This was pure hell. I specifically asked for as quiet a room as possible when I made the reservation. Friends who stayed on the even number side of the building complained of hearing the beeping of the shuttles late at night or early in the morning. The rooms are spacious, but old, and dirty. I found crusted hair on the bathroom floors, holes in the shades, and something nasty lodged into the cables by the bedside table (see pics). When I returned to my room at midnight, my door was cracked open a few inches! I felt very unsafe and wasn't sure if someone had broken in or if something had been stolen. It is possible that housekeeping had returned to my room to leave a product they had not restocked on their earlier visit, but I did not ask for this, just noticed that I now had this product. Food catered for the events that I attended was decent. Restaurant food was average, at best. I cannot recommend staying here, and couldn't wait to leave. What a disappointing and unrelaxing trip. I left more tired than I was when I arrived. Not a good way to spend a hard earned vacation.
