Really good food. Service was a little slow but they got slammed with a few tour busses at the same time. Once she took our order, she was attentive. Brisket was good as well as the pork and sausage. Try the combo sandwich to get all three

Greatest Barbecue in the world. I have never had ribs as good as these. Best barbecue in Alaska by a mile. The ribs had a crispy crust and a juicy interior with delicious sauce. Texas toast was a hit too. Brownie sundae is big enough to split and only $10. Food comes out fast. Service was great, everyone was really nice. This is the only restaurant that I go to on a regular basis because of how great it is. Tuesday is rib night, I’ll see you there.

Google
PRO TIP! The pig out platter can serve 2 people or more. We both got this platter and could not even eat half of it. Save money and split it! Our eyes were larger than our brains at the time. We even had the burnt ends as an appetizer and still overestimated our stomach sizes. However this place is GOOD. I’m from the south and this place is better than some southern BBQ restaurants. The sauces are good, the sides are good and the meats are better. My favorites were the brisket and pulled pork. We tried our best to finish it all but had to take 70% of it with us. Definitely recommend to any big meat lovers out there who want a taste of the south!

Google
The brisket is some of the best I've had, but not the best. However, bbq in Alaska can't be choosey. I once heard someone say that the sides make the bbq joint and if that is the case then this one is top notch. Best baked beans I've ever had. Second best collards I've ever had. Service was great. Brisket came out cold and we casually mentioned it and she jumped into action and replaced it with some large hot pieces. So much food that I took half of it with me.

Google
Surprisingly quick service. Great food. REAL Southern Sweet Tea. Good prices. Authentic tasting BBQ. I had Texas Chresesteak & collard greens. Each was better than the other. I will return here.

Google
10 outta 10 bbq joint. Homemade sides and delicious choice of meats. Everything we ordered was a win! Guy Ferrari has also visited this place. Don't miss out on your fairbanks trip and give them a try! They also support the military and give a military discounts for those who served/serve.

Google
They definitely seemed overwhelmed by the people but trying to accommodate. There were only 2 of us so I asked the bartender if we could sit at the bar and was turned down but we did get drinks while we waited. Once we were seated it went quicker than anticipated. Ordered ribs and chicken plate and pulled pork tacos. Food was great. Our waitress, Amanda was very attentive and sweet!

We are visiting from Tampa and have had BBQ all over America so when we saw that Guy Fieri said this place is on point we decided to check it out! He was right! Our favorite was the brisket, sausage, pulled pork and ribs! Even the baked beans were done right. The chicken was a little dry but the turkey was surprisingly good too. The service was awesome! Very attentive, sweet and quick service! Loved the bar area too. Overall it was a good place to stop by and hang out before we went back home.

Yelp
The restaurant was recommended by the tour operator and it did not disappoint. Service was excellent and beef brisket sandwich was absolutely delicious!

Yelp
We went when they were having their rib special. Such a great value! Our waitress said it's actually a loss leader. Whelp they made up some of that money on the corn cob I ordered. I thought I'd get at least a whole cob for $6 but I got a half cob! It also wasn't tasty. So don't order that expensive corn! But everything else was delicious and we left full with food to go! I really enjoyed the burnt ends I got. The collared greens were a good side, very flavorful and tender.

Yelp
So this place is way bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. But can I just say the main attraction is the food. If you are looking for a good bbq this is the spot! We ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it did not disappoint!! I mean literally the best pulled pork I've had in a long time!! And make sure you ask for alllll their sauces they have 4 and it just adds a burst of flavor. I extremely liked the spicy hot bbq! Had a tinge of sweetness. But so very delicious! And their fries!! Omg soooo good. And it's because of the seasoning That they put on them. I mean it's just fries but dang it just hit the spot!! I can't wait to go back and try their other choices!! Bartender was awesome too boot made a great drink and was incredibly friendly.

Yelp
Excellent BBQ! Here in downtown Fairbanks. The food was great and the servers were friendly. The Texas cheesesteak was fantastic!

Yelp
First, total disclosure. I'm from Texas and know my BBQ. Second, I've never seen BBQ spelled BarB-Q. Who does this? Is this a thing? I've never seen it. I was and still am totally stumped here. Service was decent, not amazing but there was a large group of us who came in, all at once. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us every now and then. We ordered burnt ends which, for me, weren't burnt at all and not likely from the end of the piece of meat. Tasty but I've def had burnt ends and these weren't those. I was looking forward to the crispy ends, but alas not this time. My group ordered burgers as they had sold out of several meats and just didn't have many options. Again, large parties may have affected this. No one finished their plates and we all sampled one another's burgers. I would have loved crispier fries and okra. Overall, nothing was out of this world but it wasn't horrible either. Seasoning was missing for me and I prefer not to have to add lots of sauce to add flavor. On the other hand, I was happy to have sauce options and used these to spice up the meat. I'm not sure we'd return, even as much as we love bar-b-que.

Yelp
I enjoy an outing of eating BBQ because I never cook this at home. The place looked promising because it was busy even for a cold winter night. The waitress recommended the pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans, and mac n' cheese. We received our order and it was pretty good but the food was luke warm and even my sandwich bun was refrigerator cold. I was hungry and I didn't say anything to the waitress but it was a disappointing dinner.

Yelp
We were wandering around in Fairbanks looking for a lunch spot; not a good situation to be in for a bunch of Californians when in December. Our shuttle driver had pointed out this barbecue restaurant so we made our way there. The restaurant had a kitchen fire the previous day and the fryers weren't working so a number of items weren't available. I ordered the chicken and ribs platter with collared greens and macaroni and cheese as my sides. The ribs were good, tender and flavorful, and I added the KC sweet BBQ sauce to them. I was less impressed by the collared greens which were very salty and the macaroni and cheese which was bland. The chicken was not very juicy. We started with corn muffins and burnt ends which were both good. A number of my dining companions got the brisket and really enjoyed it.
google avatar

Abbe K.

Yelp
The brisket is delicious. The Texas toast, almost burned on one side and untouched on the other, delicious, the various bbq sauces delightful, the space clean, and the staff efficient and friendly. The collard greens were soggy, with an undefinable space, and no clear flavor or texture. You definitely want to see what drew the attention of the cooking show about diners, drive-in, and dives that focused on the brisket, so it's with the trip, especially if the turkey is equally well-prepared.

Yelp
Good BBQ in Alaska may seem counterintuitive, but Big Daddy's BarB-Q exceeded my expectations. The inside is dark and feels a little like a country fair dining hall. But it's about what I would expect from a good BBQ Spot. Plenty of seating, a few TV's with various sports channels, a bar in the middle of the room. From sitting down to having food on the table was about 10-15 minutes. The food was a bit surprising. Going in I anticipated a middle of the road food experience. But the ribs were tender and left the bones clean. The chicken was tender and juicy. I could have gotten a full order of either and been plenty happy with either decision. The beans weren't bad, kind of a sweet full flavored bean. The Mac-N-Cheese wasn't particularly impressive, but it's hard to mess up. A good experience and a decent price for BBQ.

Yelp
We brought in a large group and they took great care of us. I'm not a big bbq fan, but this was very good. Highly recommend. And the atmosphere was great. Lots of tv's if you are there to watch a game.

Yelp
Big Daddy's is the perfect place to take my Japanese coworker. The idea of BBQ places in Osaka is a plate of raw meat and a propane griddled. You cook your own stuff and they really dig it and almost feel like Americans. I think Big Daddy's ruined it for my buddy. Ginormous portions and that Smokey tender deliciousness. We had the Moose nuggets that were supposed to be hush puppies with ham and roasted onion. Someone forget the cool ass ingredients. Not bad but certainly lacking the ham and onions. It was rib night so we got a couple. They were tender and delicious but they were also cold. Finally I got the KC sampler combo sandwich without the cheese sauce and my buddy ordered the brisket. When the server brought them to the table he said who got the sampler? I said me and he put the sandwiches in front of the wrong guys. My buddy dowsed my sandwich in 3 different sauces in a second and then we noticed the sandwiches were wrong. I ate the brisket and it wasn't bad but not as tender as I expected. The waitress saved the day by bringing us an extra link of sausage and some pulled pork. In all honesty I enjoyed my meal with all its faults and there was a huge amount of food. Will i recommend this place??? Let's just say Real smoke barbecue is hard to come by in Fairbanks. I still had a good time and struck a conversation with one of the regulars. Check out his tee shirt. They can't all be gems but it certainly wasn't horrible.

Yelp
My friend and I were visiting the area and were looking for someplace for lunch. We found this place online and decided we wanted to check it out. We got in a few mins after they opened and were immediately seated right away. They answered our questions and ordered the brisket plate with come with two sides of my choice and Texas toast. My friend got the cowboy sundae which is two pieces of Texas toast, meat of her choice topped with baked beans and cole slaw. After 5 mins our food came and it was amazing. My brisket was so tender I could cut it easily with a knife. My two sides were rice and beans and cole slaw. They were both good too. The cole slaw came with the right amount of tangy dressing and the rice and beans cut the fattiness of the brisket. Overall we were impressed by how good it was and left feeling stuffed and happy.

Yelp
Great service from the bartender. The food was great and came out quickly. There was a generous serving of brisket on my sandwich. Selection of 6 different sauces. The environment was fun, other patrons were friendly and sociable, and prices were reasonable.

Robert T.

Yelp
We sat down, ordered our food, and then ten minutes later the server came out and told us they ran out of food.

Yelp
We were told about this BBQ being the best in town as it had been voted so by Guy Fieri . Turns out there are only two BBQ places in Fairbanks. LOL The ambiance is very casual and grungy but very cool ...totally Alaska style! Our server took our order quickly and the food came out right away. We were visiting from a cruise excursion so the place got very busy as we were all told about how good it was. All of Alaska is very pricey and hard to find many things we take for granted. They had no chicken and that was the second place we could not get chicken so we opted for St Louis ribs. My half rack was huge and the full rack was crazy huge. We got two sides each - coleslaw, mac and cheese, collards and baked beans. All our sides were generous and delish. Our ribs were disappointing....the dry rub was nice and the different bbq sauces were good but the rib meat was dry and tough. We had some root beer which is very popular in Alaska and washed it down but could not finish our meals. The bill came to $61, the average cost for dinner for two in most places in Alaska. Well, we tried! There are not many options in this little town of 30,000 most of who leave the area in the winter rather that wrestle with minus 50 below!! Glad we got to experience some thing new! There was a lot of food

Yelp
We stopped in for a drink on Thanksgiving and they were open serving free dinner to EVERYONE in the community. They smoked 49 turkeys amongst other meats and sides to ensure anyone who wanted a meal.

Yelp
After reading other reviews, I reluctantly opted to give Big Daddy's a try. Boy was i glad I did. After arriving in Fairbanks at 3:30 a.m., my body clock is all screwed up. We went for an early dinner this afternoon. Neither my wife nor I was particularly hungry. I decided the pulled pork tacos and some Mac & Cheese would be a good choice, while my wife ordered a barbecue chicken quesedilla. The tacos came on corn tortillas that had been fried to bend optimally. They had a good amount of their outstanding pulled pork and some cheese in them. I added cole slaw and sauce at the table -- KC Sweet in one, KC sweet heat in the other. Perfect late afternoon snack. The Mac and cheese was very flavorful, and deliciously gooey. My wife's quesadilla had plenty of chicken and cheese stuffed inside, but was unfortunately overcooked on one side, scorching most of that side of the quesedilla black. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the ambience was nice casual barbecue appropriate, with pleb of television screens, and a nice selection of beers.

Lanta R.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, kind staff, and really good food! Coming from the south my expectations of food are super high and Big Daddy's really delivered. My brisket was insanely tender, had the perfect fat to meat ratio, and actually had a really good flavor. The sweet tea was the perfect amount of sweet. The mac n cheese actually had seasoning and so did the fries. It was a very enjoyable experience and I wish we would have known about this place sooner.

Jesse E.

Yelp
The ribs are dry and tough. The potato salad tastes like straight mustard. The mac-n-cheese has no cheese. The chicken was fine but definitely not special. I wouldn't pay $10 for that food let alone $33
google avatar

Todd H.

Yelp
Meats over the last several years have become overcooked or have been (re)reheated from previous day(s) smoking. WAY too dry for a BBQ. I do better at home w my Traeger.

Kris K.

Yelp
I ordered some food tonight. I asked for chicken wings, they were fine. I asked for 2 things of Blue cheese, which I got charged for. I only received 1. I ordered cold slaw which didn't come with the order. I asked for Ranch dressing for the dill pickles. The fried dill pickles were really salty. Ummmmm, not really a fan.

Yelp
Great tasting bbq brisket and large portions. Also tried a 1/4 lb of sausage and it was really good also. Only bummer is I really wanted to try everything but the portions are so large and we only had one day. You've gotta try it as it is REALLY good.

Yelp
Our tour group stopped in town and when the tour guide mentioned BBQ we headed there and followed the smell. It was pretty busy for lunch but we were waited in right away. I glad the Grier sandwich and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were huge and delicious. The brisket was super moist and tender. The sauce choices were tasty too. We shared a mustard based potato salad and bbq beans which were the best! They have home brewed sweet tea which cj will make you diabetic in a hurry. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it. I only wish we had more time and room to try ribs and other choices.

Yelp
Food is great. I had the burnt ends and rib ends for lunch. Perfect for a lunch meal. Service was great. The bar looks amazing.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Reliable restaurant. Food is good and staff is quick and friendly. Looks like the menu has been updated.

Dominik R.

Yelp
Food was mediocre, had no seasoning, and tasted like it was left in a food warmer for more than 24 hours

Yelp
This is the weirdest 3-star review I've ever had to write. Usually 3-stars means a place was average-to-above average. In this case, one aspect of this place was WAY above average, and one aspect was WAY below average. What is above average and what is below average is the exact OPPOSITE of nearly every other BBQ joint in AK. Ok, I'll stop being coy: The sides are amazing, the meat is meh. The sides at most AK BBQ joints are a joke. They are so bad that I don't even know why they bother. Usually beans out of a can and a cold slice of wonderbread. Not here though! The collard greens are some of the best I've had in AK, and the portion was generous! The baked beans were flavorful and you could tell they were homemade with care. Even the bread was a nice, chewy piece of perfectly-toasted garlic bread. The meat though, was dry, lukewarm and boring. I got brisket and it was just OK. It was more like wet beef jerky than brisket. The BBQ sauces were also very sweet with very little other flavors. The primary flavor component seemed to be "sugar". Maybe their pork is better? I don't know. I highly recommend the sides, but cannot get behind the brisket.

Yelp
Every time I come to Fairbanks, this place is the place to go to eat love the briskets. I wish they had a place like this down in Anchorage.

Yelp
Place is awesome! Definitely worth checking out. We stopped in like a few weeks ago while in Fairbanks for the second time around. It's in an odd location and it has a unique entrance look to it. It smells amazing as soon as you're in the vicinity of this restaurant. Everyone is very friendly as soon as you enter, the bartender especially..so we chose to sit at the bar. He was great at suggesting drinks and food items, and just entertaining us basically. We had a great time and it was a huge thanks to him. The interior is pretty nifty..has the whole outdoor is indoor casual dining straight BBQ style..love it! Psst..we sorta cheated and didn't stumble upon this place by accident..we saw that they were featured on one of Guy Fieri's episodes. So yeah..had to check the hype out! Food is really good..they have a variety of homemade BBQ sauces that's all awesome and the BBQ is delish. We got the platter and shared..it's a lot of FOOOOD! Totally worth it and definitely worth checking it off that foodie list of yours.

Yelp
The portions are large and the food is smoked well you can add your own amount of sauce. I had the burnt ends, rib tips, and a side of creamed corn. Gave me plenty of protein for the late night of Northern Lights chasing. Serve is a bit sporadic but food comes to the table as it's ready do your group may not all get it at the same time. Atmosphere is a typical bbq and bar experience. Long tables, paper towels for napkins, plastic service and paper cups.

Natasha M.

Yelp
This is not southern food. The ribs are dry, red beans and rice are dry without the seasoning. Only the fried okra on my plate was okay.

Edgar A.

Yelp
Food speaks for itself, very delicious and full of flavor. Loved it . There are six different sauces to put on your ribs and the bbq beans are a must.

Michael L.

Yelp
The food came out quickly, but it was cold. The price recently increased which we understand but the portions were smaller. I didn't taste any smoke on the meat, and it wasn't as tender as I expected. Service, don't know how many servers there were. I saw the bartender and host helping. In the middle of our service, our waitress worked a party which took her about an hour to take their order. Our side of the restaurant was neglected, tables were seated without drinks or orders. We were trying to close out and nobody was available. The ambiance was ruined by the lack of management, if there are not enough staff to manage the tables then don't seat people. I would prefer a realistic timeframe to get quality service. Having enough seats to hold a party but lacking the staff is a major management fail. The only reason some of these restaurants are open is because of the location.
google avatar

Cory S.

Yelp
Service was great but the brisket was dry, coleslaw was runny. Place was busy, but was not up to standard. Seems like they keep BBQ for days to serve. Not fresh.

Adam H.

Yelp
Great sweet tea and KC Sandwich! Will definitely be returning to try other items from the menu!

Rob R.

Yelp
amazing bbq spot I'll will definitely be back, I love there bbq a lot especially the nice cold drinks

Yelp
If your wanting bbq this place is a hit or miss for me it was a miss. The food I ordered came cold (not even warm) and when I sent it back it came back questionable. The food looked great but taste not so good

Sheri A.

Yelp
We , party of 3, waited about 5 minutes to be seated--this was good, we were excited to eat there. After no service for 10 minutes, we asked the host if we had a waiter. The host came and took our drink orders, but a server ever showed up. We saw other tables be seated and served, but we were totally neglected. After another 15 minutes we put money on the table for the tea the host brought and left.

Yelp
So first the good: the service was very very good. The servers and the bartender were very attentive The restaurant was clean and nice. The food was pretty good as well. Now the not so good: I got there about 5 minutes after they opened the other day and the place was packed, including what looked like several larger groups. It took around 20 minutes for anyone to even come over and take a drink order. My first choice for food was, oddly, not available even though they had just opened so I ordered a mozzarella sticks and a pulled pork sandwich with a side of onion rings. And now I wait...... And wait..... And wait...... And wait some more...... 1 hour and 30 minutes later the food came out, and like said it was pretty good but it does not erase the fact I waited 1:30 for a pulled pork sandwich and some onion rings. I'm hoping they were having a bad day with a packed house and some large groups, but it's hard to overlook the wait.

Jill O.

Yelp
Waiter was rude and insulting. I know it's a bbq place but you should be able to cook anything you offer. I had shrimp that was extremely over cooked. It was terrible.

Kyla B.

Yelp
AMAZBALLS!!!! We shared the fried picks and pig out plate. They had four house made BBQ sauces on the table. My favorite was the mustard style sauce. My husband loved the sweet heat. The two sides we got were the Mac n cheese and coleslaw!

Jesse K.

Yelp
Food was subpar, the tomatoes in the salad tasted rotten, the meat in the salad smelled rotten... even the eggs were overcooked. How do you over cook eggs??? The ranch tasted awful as well (as if it wasn't mixed with the ranch packet well enough). AND THEN, to top it all off, I found a hair in my mac n cheese. Service was okay. The kind waitress helped in every way she could. (The meal was comped almost 100%) Overall ambience was weird, this is kind of a personal thing, but some people were standing the whole time... like who just stands the whole time in the middle of a restaurant? But the music was fine, not too loud. Overall, the experience wasn't the best. I would like to mention, however, that I have been to this restaurant multiple times and have never had these issues. Hopefully we won't have to experience that again, and that it was just a one time thing.

Wayde S.

Yelp
I would start by saying the food was pretty good. However, the service was lacking. We ordered a beverage and the server forgot it twice. We got the wrong order and never received utensils to eat our food with. We also had to ask for bbq sauce. Good food- bad service.
google avatar

Ms T.

Yelp
Ate there last night. Food had great flavor and huge portions. Service was fast and friendly. Only criticism is that their entry door isn't marked. We ended up asking a man on the street where the door to enter was located as we walked right past the unmarked door.
google avatar

Xoxo M.

Yelp
Amanda was the only waitress serving tonight. She did a great job, fast service, and with a smile.

Yelp
Came for lunch on a Monday because a local Person suggested it. We got some fried pickles to start. We got an order of fish & Chips and a beef brisket sandwich. The brisket sandwich did not come with any sides. Everything was super yummy. Fish & chips had a nice seasoning on it. (Maybe old bay). The brisket was served without any sauce, but was tasty on its own. There were several sauces to choose from on the table. Loved it!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Had an awesome staff today, had awesome service today, had a great time today. We came in, sat ourselves and then got served immediately. I dunno the name of our service person but she was dope. I appreciate good BBQ and this is pretty good, why 4 stars? Glad you asked. Not sure why but the sides were like warm to cold. Last time they were on point. (Shrugs shoulders)

Yelp
Nice waitresses, quick service and a wide selection of food. Not sure that Alaska is known for BBQ, but it was pretty good!
