Big Easy of Downtown Trenton

This is the best soul food I've had, I've tried multiple places but nothing comes near to Big Easy, every time I'm in town I stop by at least twice. Today I had some smothered chicken with mac and cheese and green beans, amazing as always. The customer service is also amazing.

My experience was wonderful. The food was good, and the service was even better... I let them know i was from out of town and new to the establishment. Ive been looking 4 good soul food when im traveling thru Trenton. I was very much satisfied. The pie was homemade sweet potato. Shrimp over delicious salmon. Garlic parm tenders, mac & cheese, greens.. 😍

Big Easy of Downtown Trenton is a gem! The food here is absolutely immaculate. I ordered the stuffed salmon, paired with salmon fried rice and a side of mac and cheese. Every single dish was packed with flavor, cooked to perfection, and arrived hot and fresh. The stuffed salmon was rich, tender, and perfectly seasoned, while the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and comforting. The salmon fried rice was a unique twist that brought out the bold, savory flavors—simply outstanding! The service was exceptional and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Food was so delish! Each person in our party tried different dishes and we were very pleased. Steak was tender. Salmon was moist and seasoned well. Shrimp was great. They offer so many soulfood options. For those who are conscientious about pork, they DO NOT season their veggies with pork. There is food for everyone. You won't regret it!

Really good home cooked food in Trenton. I love to support local businesses and I am so glad that I stopped in. The candied yams and collard greens were so good. I am craving the BBQ chicken. I will be back!

Brought take out !! A rib eye platter that comes with 2 sides. And an extra side of yams I didn’t see the ribeye on the menu with a price attached so I asked how much was the platter. I was told 33 got to the register and it came to 38.47. I was confused at that price but didn’t mind it. Just thought that was my final total til I got to the register my total came to 46.55 for a PLATTER. It’s definitely overpriced !! I feel like a gratuity tip was added without my knowledge or a hidden fee bc it’s no way this platter is almost $50. Rice should be included w 2 sides for that PRICE !! The steak was good doe !! Didn’t like the other stuff I got.

OMG....I cant say enough. THANK YOU!!!! Great supporting local businesses. Customer service was outstanding and food was perfect quality. And price point was perfect for what we needed. Food was read on time and you have a life long customer. This is truly a shining star of Trenton. When you are at work or just passing through...try it. Everything was made to order and was FRESH!!!!!! YOU COULD TASTE THE LOVE IN EVERYTHING.

Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant! Definitely worth our 45 minute trip here! Fried chicken is delicious, tender & moist! Collard greens are a definite treat! Corn bread is a special recipe and I would for sure be tipping the scales if I lived any closer! Gotta try this restaurant! Owner and staff are lovely!

Had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant with my wife while waiting for candlelight tribute to the Beatles. Excellent food, places, spotless. The owners are very friendly and sociable . I'll definitely visit them again when we're in this area.

Just walking by, saw this place, didn't know it was there. Based on the side of Lobster mac and Cheese that I got today (first time here and already ate) I will certainly be going back. Food looked and smelled great. Looking forward to going back for some fish, rice, beans, and the turkey meatloaf with spinach and feta.

This is the best soul food I have had in about 20 years. I got a fried whiting platter with greens and Mac. i also got a side of yams. Everything was great. i didn't need any hot sauce. it was amazing

I haven't been since the pandemic but they have not skipped a beat! Lobster Mac and fried basa I had to say was delicious! They'll be seeing me more often again!

Delicious soul food in a casual setting. Came here for a lunch break during a one-day job at the Trenton arena. It's served cafeteria style in to-go containers, but there are plenty of tables at which to eat. I had the fried chicken. It was tasty but a bit bland, in spite of it probably sitting out for a couple hours. A touch of salt did the trick. Not a bit of grease on it. My sides were collards - fresh and not too spicy. Also had the sweet potatoes, which were unbelievably tasty. My colleague had the crab cakes. He had just come from Baltimore, so I thought he might be in for a letdown but he said they were great.

Food was good, service was on point. I ordered the whiting and lobster mac and cheese. Delicious.

Wow, what a find, really! I happened to be in the area on business at lunch time two weeks ago and noticed a few people walking out with take out bags. Since I am always interested in hunting down new food, especially within several miles of my house, I Yelped this place up and looked at the photos and menu and went right in. This is a cafeteria style restaurant with eat in tables, but I suspect for lunch most of the business is take out. They had a variety of items you can choose a lunch combo from which usually includes a protein and two sides. I opted for the salmon, green beans and plain rice. There were many other options, like fried chicken, jerk chicken, etc. as well as many other sides like mac and cheese, yams, greens, salmon fried rice, etc. While waiting in line for my turn, the slices of carrot cake (various cakes were positioned on a table on the side of where the line forms) and I were having a staring competition, so I got two for "the kids". Finally while ordering my meal, the jerk chicken looked interesting so I got a side of that, expecting to have a piece at home and share the rest with my family (just to try it out to see if it was any good). My salmon was moist and flavorful, the green beans was cooked well and still maintained their crunch (don't forget this is cafeteria style so things are not cooked as you order) and the rice was super flavorful. Ate that in my car and was extremely happy. However, the amazement started when I got home. I tried a piece of the jerk chicken and was simply in awe that I never knew this place existed. I had one piece and when I returned a few hours later to try another, the entire portion was gone!! My wife told me it was the best chicken she has had in a long time. Now the carrot cake, not made there, was ridiculous as well. The icing was rich with a slight bit of tang. Of two pieces for "the kids" one ended up in my stomach and the other in my wife's! I returned today and got three orders of the the jerk chicken and they threw in one of the moistest most flavorful corn-breads I have had. Definitely my top 5. Unfortunately no carrot cake (thank Gd for my waistline). If you guys are reading this, your food kills it, thank you! If you happen to be in Trenton, live in Morrisville or Yardley, you are missing out if you don't try the Big Easy! Home style cooking with lots of attention to detail and lots of love and it tastes like it 100%

I work in Trenton and one day my coworkers and I decided to order take out from Big Easy. My coworker ordered the food and went to pick it up, so this review is only based on the food, as I did not go to the restaurant. I ordered the fried basa (fish) and my two sides were candied yams and macaroni and cheese. The food is absolutely delicious. I was in heaven eating it! They give you three pieces of fish. The breading for the fish is so full of flavor and the fish is very light! Even with a takeout order everything stayed hot and crisp! The sides were delicious as well. The candied yams are out of this world! They give you plenty of food, large portions! I had enough food leftover to enjoy later! I will definitely order food from Big Easy again. I am eager to try some other items on their menu. I highly recommend this restaurant! UPDATE: I returned a few weeks later to have lunch with my fiancé. He ordered the BBQ chicken with sides of rice and mashed potatoes. I ordered the fried basa again but this time with candied yams and collard greens. WOW is all I can say, everything tasted amazing! He was dying to know how they cook their chicken because he says it was cooked perfectly! We were both extremely satisfied and will definitely be back. The service is wonderful too! Plenty of seating inside. Highly recommend!

The food is a little pricey. The yams, cabbage, and baked wings are consistent. I give them all 8.5 out of 10. The oxtail never falls off the bone. I ordered their famous burger and the center was not cooked. The ambiance is basic. I must say it is very clean.

So ima keep it real wit you. I came here randomly for a quick lunch while I was in Trenton. I was not expecting food this good. If you like a simple restaurant with amazing home cooked food served cafeteria style with old school hip hop and R&B being played in the background ... this the spot! I started eating and the food was so good I literal had to take a picture mid meal and write this review. Seriously ... the food is literally still in front of me and it's so good I felt obligated to take a break to give them props.

If you're looking for Arnaud's in the French Quarter you may be dissappointed. However, if you're out to enjoy some damned good food - just leave the pearls or tux at home and come down to the best, most carefully prepared southern food you'll find anywhere. You'll see more than enough excellent selections served from the buffet but also an extensive burger and fish menu served up in no time. Take your time ordering, and the fantastic staff are happy to answer questions. We are glad that we ate in because frankly I'm not sure I could have waited to get it home then there'd be fried chicken crumbs all over my car seats. You'll come back. You'll see. ;)

- Overpriced - no restaurant parking available. Only curbside - Called order in, but it wasn't ready when I went to pick it up. I had to wait in line and then she made the box. - Ensure you go when food is fresh other wise it's just cold and no taste

The food is wonderful! Fresh, well-seasoned, and affordable. Soul food that would make your grandparents happy. I will definitely be back.

The staff were friendly. The place was spacious & allowed for 6 feet distance. The food looked good. I ordered the fried chicken, yams, collard greens and Mac & cheese. I added some cornbread too. Their line moved swiftly. I was in & out in no time. The total was $22. Unfortunately, I got home to find that the fried chicken was dry. The cornbread lacked sweetness but I'd give it 5.5/10. The collards were okay once I placed some hot sauce on them 6.5/10. The Mac & cheese was just okay 6/10. The yams were AMAZING 8/10. I figure that this was just a bad luck experience. I came in 1.5 hours before they closed. Perhaps some of the food had been sitting their for a while. I've heard good things about this place so I'm willing to give them another shot in the future. Hopefully on someone else's tab.

Let me start by saying prior to tasting the food I was impressed by the customer service! From the moment I placed my order over the phone to the time I picked up my order everyone was polite and accommodating. I ordered the Moroccan with candy yams and Mac. Everything was extremely delicious and I couldn't wait to dive back into my leftovers. I will definitely be back.

Fantastic! We tried the whiting, collards, mac & cheese, green beans, red beans, corn bread and salmon. All were top grade soul food happiness! My Southern-girl self was quite happy. Portions are generous. Prices are a value.

Terrific Louisiana-style buffet located near downtown Trenton. Mac and cheese, collards and grilled salmon were all really great. Highly recommend-- especially given the few options in the area. Note, at $14 I thought it was a little on the high end, but the portions and taste made up for that. Enjoy!

Awesome little soul food/home style cooking spot. Servers are always super busy but always serve you with a smile. A little pricey but the food makes the price ok because it's incredible

I tried the basa fish, greens and lobster mac. It was my first time having this type of fish. I heard it is similar to catfish but with a milder flavor. The food was good. I will be back to try something different.

I went during lunch time around noon. I ordered the Mac n cheese, string beans,collard greens and ox-tail. For 2 sides and 1 meat $15. Pros - 1. waitress was polite and attentive 2.Restaurant decor is very nice 3.Great music playing 4.Location is convenient 5.Was decently priced given the location and portion size 6.Ox-tail was tender. Sauce had a nice flavor Cons- 1.My least favorite dish was the Mac n cheese.the cheese used did not give the taste a kick. Didn't really taste seasoned. 2.The string beans didn't have much flavor either. The collard greens were okay. 3.Potato salad was offered as a menu item but the waitress informed us that there was no more .Before offering the menu items, items should be verified. I decided to try this restaurant because it was suggested to me. I was disappointed because as a soul food restaurant Mac n cheese and collard greens should be on point. When you grow up on soul food, you become a tough critic lol I would visit again to try something else.

The food is authentic and VERY good. Atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. The prices are affordable. The owner and staff are very friendly. I recommend the mac and cheese and wings! They are my personal favorite however everything on the menu is good if you like soul food!

My Co Worker and I went to big easy for lunch. The atmosphere was great throwback RNB music playing with a DJ. I ordered the lobster Mac and Cheese there could of defiantly been more lobster and the cheese they used could have been a better brand. I also ordered the Collard Greens and the Salmon. The collard greens were excellent and by far my favorite part of the dish, the salmon was dry and its a shame because you get a really nice big piece if they just maybe poured the sauce the salmon was sitting in on the piece they give to you it wouldn't have been that dry. The people working were very pleasant even with being bombarded with customers also everything was very fast I was in and out seeing I only get a certain amount of time for my lunch hour I was pleased ! I will be back to this establishment just will order something different next time.

Ragin Cajun you say?!? Well, let's start with banging fish sandwiches which will get you hooked. The combinations are simple but unique. The jerk chicken has a Cajun touch to warm you up on the coldest days. The honey bbq wings are not your run of the mill hot wings, they have class. I'll be back for more, definitely.

We had a church event, so I order 200 winglets, when I tell you, those winglets were the best I even had at any event or anywhere, the taste was just right, you didn't need to add anything to them to kick up the favor, nice size. People enjoy them, and was glad to take any leftover with them. I have ate at Big Easy many times, and the Jerk Chicken, veggies, Salmon, just everything is tasty. Great staff, I even had food order to my job, when I tell you I did not have to wait long. I promise you once you try it, you will go back.. Great job Big Easy... Dora

Very disappointed. Trying to support our people be we've got to do better. After waiting 45mins for a fish sandwich it was cold. I asked the gentleman if it was hot and he said yes. You would think after waiting 45mins it would have been hot. WRONG. I can't support a place with this kind of service. If you don't mind eating buffet food this is your place, if you want food to order and expect it to be hot this isn't the place. Prices are high for the location. Customer treatment on this one was ZERO.

One of my new faves in Downtown Trenton. Nothing fancy but these guys aim to please -- nice people and they serve great food at a price even I can afford. Personally I like the jambalaya, shrimp, black beans, salmon -- and here I discovered basa, a kind of white fish -- it's great. Warren Street just keeps getting better, check it out!
