Big Mamas

I always loved Big Mamma's. Now that Fosters is history. This is my favorite place in town. Dive style location, but kitchen is clean and employees are always pleasant. Keeps prices down! 10/10 always recommend.

This is a walk up window with outdoor shaded seating. The fries, shake, and corn dog were really good. The burgers were just okay.

I brought my family out here after a car show and it was a great experience. Food value/taste 10/10 and I was happy with the amount of time it took to make. The seating is outdoors but it was a lovely sunny day. For 6 people $60 we got chicken strips, burgers, fried burritos and a milkshake. It was delicious will go again

If you're in the neighborhood for something cheap mom and pop shop to eat, this is the place to go. They have a huge selection of burgers and sandwiches, along with fries, corn dogs, salads, chicken nuggets/strips, milkshakes and shrimps. The burger is more on the homemade side, something quick and easy nothing fancy but decent. They also have an outdoor seating area, no restroom and the people here are very friendly.

Food is amazingly cheap and large portions, tasty in an old school way Shakes are fabulous

This was my second time here, but the first for food. I just got a shake the last time, and it was good. I ordered the number 7. I am pleased but I will order more in the future and maybe the stars will change.

Ranch had barely any seasoning tasted like straight mayonnaise. Corndog still has raw dough. Very unappetizing. Fries were great though!

This burger joint has been here forever! The hubby gets the #7 double western bacon cheeseburger with a big strawberry banana Boston shake. I usually get the baby burger & share his fries which are sooo good! Food is always made to order so you will be waiting just a bit. With all the business they get they are still very nice. It is old fashion & do have tables outside to sit on to eat or wait for the food.. I do recommend this place 100%. The only thing is they went up up on the prices but everything is now days.

Well, I wanted to do an update on Big Mamas in the city of Sanger. I was there a couple of weeks ago and of course, I stopped by and ordered a combination cheeseburger, fries, and drink. The prices are fantastic cheap and the food is quality you get a lot of quantity the customer service is friendly and courteous. The structure may look old and a little depleted, but the great food makes up for it. FYI I have a typo in my last review, which I've tried to edit, but for some reason, I can't, it states, "all the males" when it should say "all the meals" Sorry about that. Lol, I'll be visiting Sanger soon and will be dropping by Big Mamas.

This place is a family favorite. If you have kids or if you are a kid at heart get the corn dogs. I love the pastrami burger! Ok prices

Best Boston shakes!! The banana is my favorite and love their fries. Been going there since I was in high school and they are quick service. Good place to eat outside also on a nice day.

Pretty good food, great value, good shakes, and I like their secret sauce on the hamburgers.

Just trust me. Go. You won't regret it. Hole in the wall burger joint. Prices are insane for cali.

Big Mamas is one of those local places that has been around for what seems like forever and you want to keep it that way. My go-to order is always the Texas Bacon with Cheese or the Double Texas Bacon with Cheese when I'm really hungry. It's hard to finish the burger because it's so big compared to fast food burgers. When I do, I'm overstuffed because of the amount of crinkle cut fries that comes with the meal. The fries are seasoned, but I noticed they use seasoning less than they used to. If you're picky about lettuce, please note they use shredded lettuce. They also utilize a generic ketchup so it is less thick than Heinz and less sweet. The wait can be considerable so I recommend calling ahead. There will still be a wait but not as long as it could be.

Service is fine. Burger is big, but doesn't have a lot of flavor. Shakes are excellent! I would try other menu items before I get another burger.

Tell me you're from LA, without telling me you're from LA.. I'll go first puts on a "mask" like it's the new hottest lipstick shade. Well not in Sanger's! No hate :) It was weird walking up to the establishment and actually seeing lips LOL. Deja vu pre-covid days. I'm not sure why I had this spot bookmarked, maybe from the travel channel?! Anyhoo I got a #5 combo that came with a deluxe burger, small fries and a small drink for around $7! Yes only SEVEN dollars! I don't know what their large looks like but I seriously thought they hooked me up with Large Fries and a Large drink. If this is their small, then you definitely get a bang for your buck here! Their burgers remind me of a backyard burger no frills, just the usual lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and secret sauce (thousand island) on a toasted bun. Fries are made extra crispy (without having to ask) and seasoned with season salt. Cash is king, 50 cents charge if paying with card. Also call in your order to avoid the wait, this place gets packed!

Great burgers, ice cream and fries! They have daily specials. Prices are reasonable and food is great!

I only had the shake from here and it was so good. I look forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

I had their Deluxe hamburger and it was awesome loved the flavor and the buns they use. I also tried their Boston shake for the first time and it was amazing, they don't skimp on any of the toppings. Great job Big Mama's

We always come for the pineapple milkshake. But we always leave with burgers and fries! Lol! We're in Fresno but the drive isn't bad at all for some fresh burgers! This place is a must stop for my family when we come to Sanger!

The burgers taste bomb, I love their sauce! The shakes are old fashion, made with real fruits! Did I mention delicious? Well they are. This is a must stop destination if your ever in Sanger. Very reasonably priced and a relief from inflated prices every where you go. Try it you'll thank me later!

Burger was cold. Fries were to salty. Shakes are pretty big. I'll be back to give it another shot.

Good food. Very mom and pop style. Fries are amazing when they've seasoned them up good. My biggest problem however is with the name. Big Mamas. Is it just me or is that not "mah-mahs"? Everyone says "mommas". Need some clarification here.

Bad service.. the person taking orders wasn't very pleasant. They took about 4 orders after I ordered and served them all before I got my food so I was irritated about that. They got my order wrong and tried to give me more food to make up for taking so long but I just wanted to get out of there at that point. Not worth the money or the wait.

OMG! Love this place especially their milkshake, the best ever. N their burgers r so juicy n their fries, u just have to go n see for urself. We live n Fresno, n when I want a good milk shake we drive over there to get one. It's a great place....

This place is the best. I love their fried shrimp and their corn dogs. My husband loves the huge hamburgers 2 for $5.80. Banana milkshake is the bomb. The fries are crispy and seasoned. Great place for an inexpensive great meal. The service is great but there can be a wait if they are busy.

I just moved to Sanger 2 weeks ago. I heard the raves about big mamas I thought I had to try! I have had a pastrami sandwich and then a separate time a deluxe burger! Both were great! That pastrami sandwich was the best I've had in a really long time! Kids love the burgers too!! Might be weird but I really love the hamburger buns lol!!! We will definitely be back

Best little hammer place in town! Better than the chain fast foods and better prices. Good portion sizes. The fries are the best!!!Deluxe Burger, Fish Sandwich, Corn Dogs-awesome! Sometimes we go just for the Boston milk shakes.

My husband swears by this place, so when we recently moved to Sanger, it was the first place we ate. The line/wait was long, so obviously he's not the only one who loves it. The food was delicious and the fries were hot and crispy. We were all happy.

The food is decent, love the ranch dressing with fries. they need to clean the outside, it is nasty. The customer service can use some work. They also were not wearing masks or gloves when I picked up my order. Beware of the extra charges

First time and let tell you guys that you guys must go try it. Food is delicious and the customer service (aliiyaah)is great. Definitely will go back. Totally recommend this place

When I moved to Sanger and tried this Burger joint I was sold! Recently I feel like orders take a little longer and the bacon could be cooked a little more. The secret sauce is still one of my favorites, definitely recommend there Texas bacon cheese burger!

Small town burger joint perfection. I mean, it's called Big Mamas, and that's reason enough. If you're imagining a corpulent woman smiling away and flipping burgers in the back of a shed to give to her kin on a family cookout, you're not far off. Only there was no big mama, at least on my visits. But that same come-as-you-are feel is what they have going. There's when you have company over when you clean up the house, and when you have kin over, and you sorta kick the mess to one side of the couch so they can sit down. Big Mamas is the latter. I didn't wander around too far on the menu. It's really a burger/fries/shake kind of place, so stick with the basics. They know exactly who they are and they really embrace it. They're a little burger joint, in Sanger California, outside of Fresno. Divey burger joints don't get more ideally situated than this. It's up to you what shake you get. The Boston Shakes are what most people are talking about, though you can start a bit simpler and work your way there. The fries are of the crinkle variety, which isn't my favorite style, but they're fine. Prices are pretty reasonable and comparable to what you'd find at a big chain for a combo meal. There are a few other items on the menu (sandwiches, pastrami) and they have some specials. I haven't been in a bit so I don't want to lead you astray, but do look for signage on what might be a deal when you're there. Side of the road burger stands like this are the lifeblood of the American Road trip. I'm always blown away by how similar they all are, yet how each and every one has some little, unique thing (Texas burgers?) that sets them apart from the field. Whether you're passing through on a trip to Kings Canyon/Sequoia, live nearby, have work in this neck of the woods or just want a burger, this is a fine spot to give some love to Big Mama.

Spur of the moment Yelp search got us to Big Mama's and the previous reviews are correct, it's not much to look at but the food... We went with a couple of huge cheeseburgers and weren't disappointed! Perfect for our day exploring the Almond Blossom Trail.

Good food only down is the mayo is way too this. Like watery bad. Other than that I have no complaints

Great meal for lunch! Ordered for five team members at WAMs, food was delicious and hot. Their time to pick up was on the spot. Love the seasoned fries great to eat when it's a Friday aka cheat day.

Best people, best food! Service is always great!! Love this place! No complaints!! Boston shakes out my fave and a must have if you've never been here. Their fries are top 5 on the fries of America scale for me! The fact that everything is literally cooked fresh, to order is the selling point for me!

In Sanger it's probably one of the best burgers you can get would recommend for any burger burger connoisseur to try I will return for the double cheeseburger

It's ok, a lot people like it my family does not. They take long time and never get it right. I have allergies so I need some things off I've told them this. They are good if you don't ask for anything special

Yep, it is as good as people say! Bring an appetite your going to need it! This is another place to return to! If your in the Central Valley of California take a detour and come get a good burger and you need to save room for the "Boston Shake" very good...!!

I love their shrimp platter. It's the perfect comfort food or cheat day meal. You can call ahead of time and it'll make it easier to pick up and go when you are in a rush.

I commute to Sanger three times a week for work and once in a while I would stop at Big Mamas for lunch. The two burger for $3.40 is a steal. Amazing burgers and the soda is largeeeee! Definitely give it a try. At first I was a bit sketchy, because of the outside, but it's definitely good burgers. You won't regret it.

A nice gem in this little town. Well loved by locals and visitors alike. Definitely a dive, no frills here. Big Mama's is a little old house. They take your order from a little window and you wait outside. Half of the folks ate there and the other half to go. There's plenty of shaded seating but only one trash can! Greeted with a smile even though she was very busy, the cashier was patient as we placed our order. It took a little bit to get our order: 3 burgers, fries, onion rings, a soda and shake. Everything was made to order which made it worth it. No order was too large for them! The hot foods were hot and the beverages were cold. We had paid for a Boston shake which we didn't get. I took it back and it was replaced on the spot. As we waited, chatted with one of the friendly, old time locals who shared how Big Mama's and the Chuck Wagon (another local fave) have evolved over the years. The food was very tasty! I especially liked the old school crinkle cut fries which were crispy and nicely seasoned. Yup, the onion rings with ranch. Everything with ranch! We were stuffed! Extra napkins please! The prices are moderate and becoming competitive with the national fast food chains however. They need to update their menu board. The prices have gone up since the last Yelper posted a photo of it.The specials are still about the same, like their 2fers. The place would be even more top notch if they had the extra help. The "Help Wanted" sign looked like it'd been up there for awhile. Was worth the 1/2 hour drive from north Fresno!

When I moved to Sanger around 8th grade this restaurant was still just a small burger joint. I would always order the deluxe burgers and fries. Fast forward 15 years later, they still taste the same as I remembered!!! Deluxe burgers with cheese, fries, and ranch. One of my favorite Sanger restaurant!!!

My favorite place to eat in Sanger! I love the chocolate Boston shake, and the shrimp basket. The shrimp basket comes with fries, a salad, fried shrimp, and slice of bread. The employees are really nice, and they have a little tip jar by the register, too, so don't forget to show them some love for working so hard to make great food! A great deal for the money, and delicious every time! Thanks Big Mamas!! You guys are awesome.

It's ok food and ok prices. But they nickel and dime you for everything that comes on the burger. Even their sauce if you ask for more the charge you for it... and to top it off if you pay with a card they add an additional.50 without telling you. I will never come here again

big mamas has the best strawberry milkshake with real strawberries..the best ive ever had other places just have artifical flavors used....not the real strawberries.....

This was my second time in Sanger. I was meeting buddies from the skate park, and I needed something to eat. When one asked what I wanted to eat, I replied that I wanted burgers. Usually, it's tacos or burgers or pizza, and I'd already had pizza in town. He replied Big Mamas, and I thought about a movie with a 400 pound woman running a house of ill repute, not a burger joint. When we arrived, it seemed as if it was in transition. The parking lot was the most stable-looking part of the place. Still, I've eaten at a number of hole-in-the-wall places and it didn't bother me. I needed a restroom, as the trip from Bakersfield had been almost 2 hours--about 30 minutes from SR99 to Sanger. My buddy said that the restroom was in the back. I went there and it was locked. I asked for the key to the restroom, and we ordered. I was told that there was no public restroom. I was a customer, though. After paying and another request, the counter person talked to someone else, and returned to tell me to meet her around back. They unlocked the door, requesting that I re-lock it. It took a while for the order. I ordered a #4 combo--the fish sandwich, fries, and drink. My companions ordered 3 Boston shakes and an iced tea. The fish sandwich, without tartar sauce, was great. The fries were okay. There was a lot of ice in the drink. There was only a $1.00 difference between the small and large shakes but the large shakes were way too much.

Big Mama's is THE fast food spot to visit if you're anywhere near Sanger or Reedley, California. They carry a variety of fast food favorites including burgers, burritos, corn dogs, chicken strips, fries, jalapeno poppers and shakes. Locals in the know go there for the best deals - 2 corn dogs or 2 burritos for $.99 or 2 deluxe burgers $2.00 (they all seem to refer to this as the 2 for 2). It was definitely a fast food burger, but with a lot of shredded lettuce, fresh tomato slices, and pickles. It's not the absolute best burger I've ever had, but it was pretty darn good for a fast food burger and a bargain at that price. I had a spirited discussion with the friend I went with about whether or not it was better than an In-n-Out Burger; She said yes - I said no. The jalapeño poppers were crispy golden brown with not a hint of grease. Be careful, though, on my first bite the creamy cheesy filling 'popped' out and burnt the inside of my lip. Take a tip from me and let them cool off a little first! The fries were crispy crinkle cut and just starting to brown on the edges. No grease here, either, and the large size fries is HUGE - definitely enough for two people to share. The large (32 oz) sodas were $.99 each. We didn't order the milkshakes but were intrigued by the fact that there were regular milkshakes and Boston milkshakes. We asked the person working the counter who said that the Boston milkshakes were 1/2 milkshake and 1/2 sundae. Someone else will have to check these out for me. Currently, the only seating is outdoors at the picnic tables but they are at least covered.

I gave it three stars because it didn't make me sick. Took the short drive up there and the parking lot was full and several people were waiting. Good signs right? I order a plain cheeseburger with fries and an unsweet tea. Price was not bad either. And I waited, and waited, and waited. People were even in their cars until their orders were called. I was like YES this will be epic!! Finally after about 20 mins I got my food and hurried home. Upon opening my food I saw they had crinkle fries, YES! then I opened the burger and was disappointed. I was thinking Big Mama's was going to be like a hand flattened patty grilled to perfection. It looked like a Sam's Club patty. You know the ones you get out the case? Not knocking on Sam's Club, BUT someplace called Big Mama's should have like real beef patties. The fries were great. The unsweet tea tasted like I was the only one who ordered it that day and it had been sitting out since the am. So I continue my search for great food in Sanger.
