Big Mario's Pizza - Review - Fremont - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The Frelard Big Mario’s outpost has a lot of good stuff going for it—parking is relatively easy, they share patio space with Showboat, and we can’t get enough of their mini bottles of Miller High Life spiked with Aperol. (That’s called a “spaghett” for the uninitiated.) It all should add up to create a perfect slice joint. The problem is, we hesitate to even call this location of Big Mario’s a slice joint. Their operation is just a big mess due to the fact that they don’t make enough pizza pretty much ever. Expect 45-minute quotes for slightly crisp, slightly floppy slices and rude “you blew it” attitudes if they sell out in the middle of a normal Friday night rush. Your best bet would be to call in pies for pickup, but there are also way better options for pizza across the city. But if you’re down to wait, these slices will check the boxes." - Aimee Rizzo

Best Restaurants, Bars, and Breweries Along the Burke-Gilman Trail | Eater Seattle

"Headed east out of Ballard and across Leary Way, bikers have quick access to this popular local mini-chain, which dishes up New York-style pizza, served by the slice and in whole pie form. Known for its divey vibe, Big Mario’s menu is divided equally between meat pies (featuring the Mai Tai with pineapple and Italian ham) and veggie, like the Pear Gorgonzola. For those getting a slice to go, Bad Jimmy’s Brewing Co. next door is not a bad place to camp out for a beer." - Kelly Knickerbocker

Pizza was just okay. Maybe if the service was better, I may have had a better take on the pizza. But came in for lunch, a little after opening and it wasn’t that busy. We ordered a couple of pepperoni slices and the employee said that the pizza just came out of the oven not too long ago so they don’t need to be warmed up. The slice was just okay…kind of warm but didn’t taste “right out of the oven” warm. Dough was too crunchy for my taste. I was still hungry after my first slice so got another one. I’ll say that ordering was quite easy and the place had cool vibes, with the huge VHS collection and all. The second slice was warmed up this time and it was sooooo much better. The cheese was melted just right and the pepperonis had that slight char/crunch to them. If the employee had not been lazy and had just warmed up our first slices, I would’ve loved this place more.

Google
This is my first time ordering from here and I just got a plain cheese pizza. Sauce is very spicy for red sauce. Not bad, but if you don’t do well with heat you’re in trouble. Cheese mixture was good, but the crust was very dry and more like a cracker than thin crust pizza. Was fine for what it was but kinda bizarre. Not sure I’d order from here again unless it’s super late and nothing else is open. Edit: it gets worse. Half of it was burned. 😬 I understand food service is rough right now, but I think this place would benefit from a little more care.

Google
Uber Eats delivery order. Pizza was just average. What we got looks nothing like the pictures. Toppings are small and sparse. Sauce was good so was the crust. $100 for 3 medium pizzas just wasn’t worth it. We tried to support the little guy, but will give Big Mario’s a pass next time.

Google
Solid Team. Came in on a sunday night. Greek salad is a must, fresh. Clean environment, staff is attentive. Portions were big, the pizza was perfect. Will be coming back! Good to know that there is a pizza joint that actually keeps their kitchen open for the community on late hours.

Google
The pizza is always fire, the only thing keeping my friends and I returning. The service on the other hand is atrocious, the dudes behind the counter are always rude to the point where it ruins any vibe. It’s confusing because at all the other locations we have had incredibly kind and friendly service. Maybe because its mostly a bar they think its ok to be awful towards customers?

Google
Walk right up, pizza lovers because this New York-style pizza joint is serving up slices bigger than your dreams and that's saying something! Might seem big on the outside but the interior is cozy (read: snugger than a pair of skinny jeans after a pizza binge), fear not, my fellow aficionados. Picture this: a bustling interior and sidewalk scene, laughter spilling out onto the streets and a vibe so lively, it could rival Times Square on New Year's Eve. So what if you have to squeeze in like a sardine? It's all part of the authentic New York experience. And let's not forget about the pizza, fresh, hot, perfectly thin and crispy, ever defiantly gooey cheese and toppings that practically melts in your mouth. So grab a slice, find a spot and prepare to indulge in a little slice of New York magic. So, if you're craving a taste of NYC without the hassle of a subway ride, this place is your golden ticket. Five stars for bringing a slice of the city that never sleeps to our humble little corner of the world!

Google
Yummy-I like it. Great retro feel in side with tight quarters. Talk about elbow room. Has a college and NY city atmosphere. Love the VHS on the shelves throughout the place. Wonder if they rent them out. Just got two slices this time. Good crunch to the crust, NY style thin slices . They also have the square pan thick kind. The sauce is surprisingly spicy and thin with a balance of cheese spread out. You can fold the pie to fit your mouth but the scoop and bite will work.

Google
Pizza is great, but I paid $13 for a Caesar salad the size of my hand. And they forgot the croutons. And they use the Parmesan in a tiny bag. Not $13 worthy. Get it together.

Yelp
Always hits the spot Always crispy crust Always open late Great NY vibe What more could you ask for?

Yelp
Went with the fam. The 18" cheese pizza at Big Mario's is the real deal for New York-style pizza lovers. It's got those wide, foldable slices with a perfect balance of gooey cheese and a slightly tangy tomato sauce. The crust is thin, with just the right crispiness around the edges but still soft enough in the middle to fold like a true NY slice. It's simple, but that's the magic--nothing fancy, just good pizza that lets the ingredients do the talking. Whether you're sharing it with friends or taking down a few slices on your own, it hits the spot every time. Perfect for when you're craving a classic, no-frills pie. Reducing stars as they didn't have more than 3 pizzas to grab by the slice. Plus the place is a little too dark themed for me. They do have a bar but the entertainment is lacking, one TV playing "Scooby Doo" :-)

Yelp
I have never experienced...in my life...a pizza...worthy of the highest praise possible. I never knew a crust so crisp...a cheese so perfectly toasted...a blend of sausage and mushroom and oregano that reminded me of my youth...eating Celeste brand "Zesty" toaster pizzas Whoever made this pizza...I bow to you!!! Cheers!

Ricki R.

Yelp
This is some of the best pizza I've had, the sauce is seasoned to perfection, the pepperoni was just right, and the least greasy pizza. Truly a must have if you're looking for a good lunch or dinner for the family or friends! Will be back the next time I'm in Seattle!

Yelp
Great pizza by the slice spot for those late night munchies. Probably one of the best veggie pizzas I've had! I crave it often now.
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
This place is big thumbs up for great ambiance and even greater staff. We live a drive away and we never regret making the drive for some pizza and drinks. The pizza always hits the spot. The crust is thin and crispy but at the same time has the perfect amount of fluffy texture. Plus you get to watch the dudes throw the dough in the air while enjoying classic VHS movies. Fun fact that we heard was they have somebody who creates VHS tapes for them. So cool to see it all on shelves around the place. For parking, pretty easy street parking if it's a quiet night. Also Ice box arcade is just across the street to enjoy after drinks and pizza.

Yelp
Big Mario's Pizza was featured on the cork board at our airbnb and low and behold, it was within walking distance as well. My husband made the walk and ordered two slices of Pepperoni pizza for us. We love a good slice of pizza and Big Mario's Pizza definitely fit the bill! But then again growing up my favorite pizza joint was Sbarro, so I don't know what that says about me LOL! My husband told me that the dive bar was pretty chill. He said there were a lot of "hipsters" hanging out there. But concluded that it looked like a great place to chill and hangout with buddies! Had we not had our toddler with us, we would have stayed for a drink too! The service was great both times! I really love the neighborhood it's located in and if I were able to move to Seattle one day, I'd love to be near here!
google avatar

Wendy M.

Yelp
I love a good dive bar and if the bar offers delicious food, even better! We were on the search for pizza in Seattle and found this little gem with some pretty awesome pizza! I always like to order a plain cheese and pepperoni and this one was top notch for me. I loved that I didn't even have to add any chili flakes or cheese because it was so flavorful. Order by the slice or order a whole pie and enjoy a drink or cocktail while you wait. It's definitely worth the wait!

Mo H.

Yelp
$100 delivery for one medium and one large pizza. Came missing ranch, late, and cold. Is this really what Seattle deserves?
google avatar

Yelp
Went there before a Husky game. Had tried it once before and was underwhelmed but the pizza was very good this time. My other two friends thought it was good also. Service was slow so don't be in a hurry. Sports bar vibe

Donna L.

Yelp
Food and service was good. A little pricey but I would still eat there again. Good pizza isn't always easy to find.

Yelp
Last night, I ended up at Big Mario's pizza. I didn't realize is was more of a dive bar which was an unexpected surprise. Tried a few different slices. The pear Gorgonzola was delicious! The best part of the experience was my friends card being declined, then my card being declined (BOA cards were having issues I guess?). The kind fellow behind the counter pulled his wallet out to pay? I quickly slapped his hand away and my friend scolded him! We are independent women who can pay for ourselves! My other card worked for their system. The ability to deal with us as a group was definitely noticed. So loud and rowdy. Thanks Big Mario's for contributing carbs to my belly to prevent feeling awful in the morning.

Yelp
There is something wrong with BM in Freelard. I have been twice on a weekend night where there are no slices . Last time the cook said it would be 45 minutes. An hour later he was telling people walking in it would be 45 mins. We ordered a salad and ordered Pagliacci . Also the bar tender wouldn't let me start a tab. If your 21 and you have a new studded jacket from hot topic you will love this place . The staff will love you and you will all be ok with how lazy and unconcerned you are for customers BUT they will expect a tip in advance . Whoever runs this place clearly doesn't care and like many Seattle places, the patrons don't either . Such a Shamr this place is run so poorly.
google avatar

Witney W.

Yelp
Great for after the bar. NY style slices and drinks. It's a good spot. They also have a library of movies on VHS if that's your thing.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by with a friend because it was on our way when we were walking towards Ballard from Fremont and we were hungry. The pizza was pretty good. They sell it by slices. A cozy place but there are a good number of seats, including ones outside. It's kind of loud inside with the music but we still had a good time with good food.
google avatar

Yelp
Their custom service just kind of sucks really bad. I went to their website and ordered pizza through Toast, which is the official method they provide for ordering online. I wanted to cancel the order but their was no way to do it through Toast. The app provides a link to call them so I did. I call and it's so noisy I can't be heard by the person that picked up then they randomly put me on hold and someone else picks up that doesn't seem to know why I'm on hold. I explain I want to cancel my order and they say you have to contact Uber without really even asking if I ordered from them or not. You would think the default assumption would be Toast and they would know how to cancel the order since there's know way to do it on Toast? Any pizza place that sucks at the basics of pickup/delivery might as well not exist IMO. It's just a basic thing that most pizza places do.

Ashley R.

Yelp
Smoking weed outside and leaving the register unattended isn't really good for business. Pizza is good though!
google avatar

Karanbir S.

Yelp
Rude. Bad service. Milking the fact they have a constant stream of a drunk clientele. Pizza is actually good.
google avatar

Vanessa I.

Yelp
The pizza itself is good if you can ever get any. Having too much business is a great problem to have but if you never adjust to accommodate demand... well it's just kind of dumb I guess. I'm tired of going in and leaving hungry so I think I'm officially retired from trying at this location.

Sean G.

Yelp
Avoid; that's the long and the short of it. Want more details? Alright, here we go. In the mood for pizza? Great, this Big Mario's branch sells pizza! Go ahead, place an order on our website. Order received, it'll be ready in 45 min. 45 minutes later... "Hey I'm here to pick up my pizza." Stoned, dead behind the eyes cretin at the counter: "It's not ready yet. It'll be twenty minutes." "Ok" 35 minutes later... "Hey I'm here to pick up my pizza!" Irritated, stoned employee: "It's not ready yet!" His tone is a snarl and he clearly indignant at my request. After another 20 minutes, the pizza is ready. Utter disrespect and rudeness of a sort that takes me aback. Don't give these jerks your money.
google avatar

Iggy R.

Yelp
I always went to the capital hill location. I never knew there was one near Ballard. I stopped by real quick for a slice. Get this one on a weekend night. The place was packed inside and outside. Only a few people had pizzas on their table with beer and or drinks. I walked in to order a slice and guess what there was no pizza. What were they doing in their drinking? Smoking? Playing? Watching movies? Idk on a busy night, there should have been pizza ready to go especially at a place that serves alcohol. Sad the guy said pizza will be ready in twenty minutes. I waited that twenty minutes and nada and it was my lunch break I waisted. Again the services are not the same anymore. Lazy people give you the illusion of work.
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by how melt in your mouth the crust was. It was super thin and just delicious. We both wolfed down our pizza slices really fast. Agree with others here that staff is a bit off-putting. The two guys behind the counter were nice enough, but seemed a little uninterested and very much with a Randall-from-Clerks vibe. Not that that's uncommon here in Seattle. I'm sure we will be back for more slices, though, honestly.

Drew R.

Yelp
No idea how they manage to do it but the pizza was watery and bland. For a $6 slice I expected better from u big mario

Yelp
I always go to the Cap Hill location, but I thought "why not try Fremont?" I brought my mother and boyfriend who lives with me in New York (left Seattle for work, unfortunately). We came in an the pizzas in the window looked old. None of my favorite flavors I'm used to from the hill were there. I asked if I could add some toppings to a cheese piece and the guy working there was incredibly rude. Instead of saying "no, I'm sorry we dont do that here" (which another guy ended up saying) he said "I'm not going to make a whole pizza just for you".. which was not needed. I asked really nicely and.. news for them.. "new York style pizza".. it's totally a normal request in NY. It's not weird and everyone does it.. so I thought I'd ask since they had very few options. Anyway, after that I didn't want to eat there. We left. I don't know if all of Mario's went downhill in the past year or so since I've eaten there but this location is trash and I won't be going to any location anymore. Shame, since I ate at the hill location and had friends who worked there for over a decade.

Mason J.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. People at the counter were very rude! Would not recommend going here.

Yelp
Yummy Pizza For Post-Show Cravings! SITREP The Ball & Chain (no, not THAT one, the OTHER one: my mother) went out for a fun Saturday Night pre-Mother's Day outing to see the Misfit Cabaret @ Hales Ale's Palladium! What a fun show, but it worked up an appetite and all the drinks at Hales were starting to hit us - luckily for us, Big Mario's was just around the corner and gave us some great down time - and yummy pizza! - while we were chilling. THE SETUP Your basic combo dive bar set-up, that also happens to sell pizza. [For my circle down here in Sacramento, think of the three "Vitos" we have in the UC Davis and Sacramento areas.] The pizzas were pretty basic, but satisfying for me and me mum. I got the Pepperoni. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/big-marios-pizza-seattle-8?select=yWGtVEvC43bM_5bAPJVCow&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w Mom seemed pretty content with her cheese slice. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/big-marios-pizza-seattle-8?select=r48YBYbExWYYkNAC2P17JA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w Both each were around $5 a piece. Not a bad deal at around 11pm at night when most everything else close by is closed. FUN BAR! The bar was very well-stocked with lots of great alcohol-selections. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/big-marios-pizza-seattle-8?select=4Bb15El4cBCYMOsweYqXSQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w And the crowd seemed like a typical hangout for those who didn't want to go out dancing and/or go to shows. In fact, there were a couple of board games going on. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/big-marios-pizza-seattle-8?select=2VcWf1pmhowVjK-z-g8k7A&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w Still, there were happening tunes going through the sound system. A nice group of people enjoying a night out. THE LOWDOWN A satisfying slice of pizza pie when you really really need it!

TheNon 2.

Yelp
I'm upset. When you buy over 400 dollars worth of pizza for a party the day before and it arrives 45 minutes late and need a microwave to reheat they should be ashamed. When I called to ask about my pizza, the worker told me it's my fault as it is a Friday and they only found out about the order an hour before???? What gives. Pizza was mediocre at best. Avoid at all costs. For the owner we tried calling the night before to place our order but no one picked up so we used your website. You have issues with your employees and your online ordering. To yelpers, save your money and your time and go elsewhere. You know it's bad when you have to give boxes of pizzas as leftovers!

Erika N.

Yelp
I ordered 10 large pizza's the day before through the website from the Fremont location. The ordering online system was through their website. No where did it ever say the online ordering system was by Grubhub, I even double checked just now to be fair and to make sure this is a service issue. The day of my party, my pizzas were 45 minutes late. My pizza was scheduled to be delivered on a Friday at 6:30pm. I placed my order the day before on a Thursday through their website. On Friday, I checked to see where my pizzas were, and I saw that the restaurant started making my pizzas at 6:35 and my delivery was at 7:18pm. Meanwhile, I had guests waiting for pizza for over 45 minutes. I called the restaurant and was received by a very rude person at the Fremont location. He said they received my order 1 hour before and it was my fault because I ordered online through Grubhub. He said it's Friday, it's busy, and blamed me for ordering online. Well, yesterday I also tried calling their Fremont location before ordering online and they never answered the phone. On top of having very late pizza for a large crowd, our pizza was cold. We had to bring out the microwave and have a line of people microwave their pizza. Do not order from their online system, it is flawed. Their customer service is terrible, and the pizza was not memorable.

Isabelle W.

Yelp
So disappointed. As someone whose worked in the industry for my entire adult life, I've never felt compelled to leave a bad review because mistakes happen. We ordered our whole pizza to dine in, my friend and I went to the bar to order drinks and the bartender was too busy scrolling in his phone to help us until he noticed someone else walk in and sit at the bar. After an hour had gone by, my boyfriend went to go ask about our pizza- the cashier told him "10min" and he replied "you said 20min an hour ago" then the cook chimed in and said "if you wanna be an asshole, you can get out!" So needless to say, we got our refund, and left. Forgetting an order is totally forgivable in my book, but getting mad at us for forgetting our food and yelling at us in the restaurant is totally unreasonable.

Amy K.

Yelp
Don't bother with this place unless you are craving the greasiest pizza known to man. My slices always get met with a stack of napkins straight away. They are supposed to have slices at the ready, but half of the time, they won't have any. If they do have a slice at the ready, you will soon realize that there is no standard size for said slice to be. Sometimes, it is almost half a pizza, and other times, it will be a third of that. The atmosphere is that of your typical dive bar. Street parking here is generally a pain in the ass so expect to circle around the block a few times unless it is at an odd hour. Also, this place is deceiving in that it looks like it should be cheap, but somehow, it's not. We just paid $30 something dollars for 4 slices and one soda. Ridiculous.
google avatar

Chad M.

Yelp
Called because my calzone came on a paper plate in a paper bag for delivery. Apparently their pizza isn't greasy. Or can afford to put food in a box? Anyways, after the idiot on the phone (the cook) HE MADE THAT CALZONE! lol. Props boss. After he yelled into the phone for a few mins, probably embarrassing himself and the people he works with, i chuckled. I think i was more disappointed that the last 2 times i ordered calzones i actually got whole pizzas for what..$16-18..so was really was hoping for another pizza. Sad face. Employee of the month goes to calzone boss. This place is a joke. Never know what you'll get!
google avatar

Lillian T.

Yelp
They serve New York style pizza here, paired with a heavy metal atmosphere with dim lighting, TVs, crowdedness, and LOUD clientele. Personally I'm not a fan of the latter, but as someone who lived in NYC for 4 years I've gotta say their pizza is truly legit and tastes incredible. Foldable crust, bursting with flavor, but the wait is quite long. Takeout orders must wait in line along with everyone else who is ordering so that's a bummer, but I guess given the small size of this bar, they really can't handle any other type of setup. I'd come again and again because pizza like this is so hard to find in Seattle!
google avatar

Ron J.

Yelp
Was looking forward to trying it, but they gave us the wrong pizza and it had toppings I hate. Probably should implement quality control. Good thing is there are much better places around.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
It's hard to be mad because their food is so good but I have to say this. I ordered two calzones online and the anticipated wait time was over an hour (which I fully expected, that's normal). We left home after an hour to pick it up because we got a notification saying it was ready to be picked up. However, when we arrived, they said it still wasn't ready... and we waited an additional 45 minutes. The calzones were delicious (as always) but they also forgot the marinara. If you're going to order, maybe order two hours before you want to eat or you'll be up all night waiting for your food. It will be delicious but you might get hangry while you wait.

Naoko K.

Yelp
Great place to embrace Seattle. I have been going there for years and I never had bad experience with service. They are all friendly and laid back. I'd recommend vegetarian pizza since toppings are always so fresh. Highly recommend this place !

Yelp
Best pizza in western Washington. Love picking up a pizza from here and sitting next door at the brewery for a drink and games. Pepperonis and spicy and crust is flavorful.

Yelp
My go to pizza spot! Always great taste and quality. Closest thing you can get to New York style pizza here in Seattle!

Yelp
My husband and I had tickets for a concert at nearby Substation that had us leaving straight from work to get there in time, meaning we hadn't eaten since lunch. The concert got delayed by an hour so we walked around the area to find something quick to eat and found Big Mario's. He loves New York-style pizza so is always excited when a place touts itself as offering it. We walked right in, ordered one of each slice they had available and canned alcohol, and grabbed a table. While we waited I got to take in the decor which is very eclectic and divey but in a fun way. They had a little TV playing The Blob up on a wall, and looked to have a huge movie collection, though I'm not sure if it was a VHS playing or just on a station. We didn't wait all that long for our order to come out and tested all the flavors. We got a cheese, a pepperoni, and a fall special, which had potato and squash on it among other things. The fall special was unique but my husband's favorite wound up being the classic pepperoni. The slices were wide and thin, just how he likes them. We were sufficiently full sharing the three slices. After the show we had quite a few more drinks in us and wanted to hang out a bit longer so we headed back to Big Mario's and got some more pepperoni to sustain us since not much around still had their kitchens open. We also got another round of drinks, this time ordering actual cocktails which included a seasonal special pumpkin spice white Russian which was really good. My husband did note the drinks seemed a bit pricey for cans but I didn't really find it an issue and it was way more fun than some national chain and the vibes were good. I will say there's not a lot of indoor seating and looks like there wouldn't be even pre-COVID but they do have outdoor seating, just make sure you have a coat.

Yelp
Perfect for when you're craving no-frills New York style pie. Great crust, always flavorful toppings. Delivery takes about an hour, though, so order in advance if you're hungry. Worth the wait.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
First things first, their pizza was delicious. We ordered a pie with Goat Cheese, Garlic and Sun Dried Tomatoes which was superb. They also have slices available if you don't want to wait. Full bar with plenty of specials, my partner got the Hot Toddy which was probably one of the best versions of that drink I've ever tasted. Comfortable environment and extremely friendly staff. Plus there's so much else to do very close by like seeing a concert at Substation, playing pinball or singing karaoke at the Ice Box.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to this place on a Monday night. They told us 1 hour for two pizzas. It took nearly 2 hours. Service is terrible & the pizza was not worth this amount of time. I understand staffing shortages but this is unacceptable.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Very good pizza, perfect after playing some Pinball at Ice Box across the street. I ordered for a group, just 1 meat, 2 veggies, "surprise me" and they came out perfect!!! Everyone was happy, no slice left. Not cheap, but good NY style Pizza!

Brianda A.

Yelp
Never has single slices available and then does "first come first serve" on the one pizza they dish out every half hour
google avatar

Steven U.

Yelp
Spectacular pizza place! Came here after getting lit and what a better way to end the night than with some pizza!

Yelp
Was driving by and saw the New York Pizza sign. Wife and I were craving pizza earlier in the day so we pulled over. Went in and asked the guy at the counter what kind of pizza they had by the slice. This was his response "I don't know you have eyes don't you"!! WTF. This is a person who should not be customer facing, has no self respect or respect for his employer. We will never go there again. BTW. Pizza was ok, but cold. Visited on 2/21 at 1:30.

What's not to love about Big Mario's pizza in Fremont area. Giant sized slices of New York Pizza Style served by the individual slice or whole pie for your culinary delight. Big Mario's has a wide variety of freshly cooked pizzas for you walk in off the street and order by the slice. Traditional thin crust pizza slices are perfect to just fold in half for the person on the go. Every time I grab a one for the road I feel like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever strutting down Leary Way to either Ballard or Fremont with a slice in hand. Make sure you fold that baby in half to hold in the grease or what FRANK refers to as pizza love juice. Mario's pizza is made with tangy red sauce and fresh mozzarella. However you can add or change to either Gorgonzola , Feta or Goat Cheese as an alternative flavor. Vegan options I found more interesting. You could add toppings like Rosemary Potatoes , Caramelized Pears , Baby Arugula and jalapeños for extra kick. And let's not forget the basic meats including salty anchovies. I'm sure your make a pie to meet your needs. For the diners choosing to dine in you'll have full stocked cocktail bar including local beers on tap and Rainer Tall Boy cans. The help is actually really pleasant and ready to serve your needs. Ambiance is defiantly a rock n roll driven with loud music and graffiti based decor. You'll get real street vibe that serves quality food which is all that matters. Take Out or eat it's all available, but just don't drip the pizza grease aka pizza love all down the front of you. Enjoy da pizza !

Yelp
Big Mario's is a great place for NY style pizza by the slice. Thin large fold over slices. Each location has a different vibe for me. This one is kind of dark and divey, and it's right next to a brewery which makes a great unofficial but intended partnership. This location seems to run low on options meaning I've walked in and only been able to get a slice of cheese, but a true aficionado can appreciate a lovely cheese pizza, and even more so after 4 or five pints.

Yelp
Meh. Pizza after a day of drinking usually hits the spot. This place took an hour which is no big deal, but the pizza was just okay. Pros? Good crust Friendly service Huge pizzas Cons? Lots of oil dripping off the slices Almost no pesto, garlic, or basil even though those were the main intrigues for the pizzas we ordered.... perhaps that's the reason our pizzas lacked flavor

Yelp
Man, I wanted to give this place a higher rating since I LOVE the cap hill location. As an east coaster, I have to say they got the crust right. They also have a cool grungy vibe if that's what you're looking for (think pirate screamo). However, some key elements were lacking. Flavor, for one. My pizza tasted almost entirely of pepper.... it was a cheese slice. The veggie slice was decent and had more flavor, but honestly just still lacking. If ya'll can amp up your sauce and not just heap on the black pepper I'd be back in a heartbeat because that crust was so right. Also, since it's written nowhere else on here so far: They have HAPPY HOUR until 6 (I think it starts at like 3:30 or something). You can get a slice of cheese or pepperoni with a PBR for $5 and they have some other well drink deals etc. Not half bad!
