This place is very casual but serves some of my favorite local beers. A great place to hang out indoors or outdoors. Last time I was there they didn’t have food but would let you get food delivered (if they still do Pat’s delivery get the BBQ nachos).

Great spot. Good beer. Cool merch.

Worth a stop, tried everything on tap. While nothing stood out as a must have, the beers were good. The bar tender was welcoming and knowledgeable about the product.

For a great taste of craft beers, this is the place to stop and try. You can also meet Larry, Moe, Curley and Shemp. Not the real three stooges, but the brewing vats the beer is made in. You can get T-shirts and sweaters to mark your visit, and play a game of corn hole bag toss game while drinking your beer. Also don't forget the Big Muddy Root beer. Truly the only Root Beer you will ever want to drink. It's that good. Bring your own snack's to eat for they don't serve food. But menu's from local restaurant's are on hand to place orders and have the food delivered to you. Great Barbecue ribs are just a call away.

Hospitality at its best. The brewery lived up to its expectations. The outdoor seating was great as it shades in the evening. The galaxy IPA and the vanilla stout were the best. The food scene was just great with mini pretzels.

Great selection of Brews, great merch and always friendly. Thanks Chuck! Big Muddy Brewing planted their roots in Murphysboro, Illinois in 2009 and are open on the weekends for tastings and tours, offering up small batches of craft brews for the true enthusiast. Favorites include the popular Pumpkin Smasher, which is brewed using real pumpkins and savory pumpkin pie spices giving hints of natural cinnamon and nutmeg, and the Vanilla Stout, a traditional Milk Stout infused with pure Madagascar vanilla.

Nothing really special about the building, actually really basic, but nice band of older ghents playing. But, the reason it received 5 stars, well the beer is just that good

Wide open barn like atmosphere. The focus seems to be on promotions rather than the beer, but the beer isn't bad. Not the best, but not bad. If you like pumpkin beers, this is the place for you.

My favorite brewery. Big Muddy always has something on tap for everyone! They have the best Octoberfest around. I need to get newer pictures... next time :)

Yelp
May not have the most picturesque view, but I always make a stop here if I'm in the area. There is a variety of ever- changing, as well as ol' regulars beer on the menu. The bartenders are welcoming and know their beer. I enjoy getting a flight to sample as many flavorful beers as I can. My favorites are the Pumpkin Smasher and Smores Stout. Gotta love a brewery that has Sasquatch as their mascot.

Yelp
Stopped by here while going to the Weekend at the Cave. Neat little brewery. Friendly staff and a chill environment. Had some soft pretzels that were tasty as well.

Yelp
This is the brewery I would visit on a weekly basis if I lived closer. Tried three different beers - all very good. Great space, friendly staff. They have chilled and beer you can take off the shelf - bonus if you're just passing through. Nice gem in southern IL!

Yelp
This is an amazing brewery. The staff are wonderful and the beers are even better. I've tried quite a few of their brews and have not been disappointed I just discovered that Binny's carries a few of their beers. If haven't tried them I highly recommend you do.

Yelp
Good brewery. Good brews. Lame that they don't fill growlers unless it is bought from their brewery. Not a good business strategy.

Yelp
The most welcoming place I've been. I was there very early on my way home to St. Louis. They don't have tasters but gave me the option of tasters because I wanted to maximize my time there. It was cold......cold.....but the beer helped, and they had some great beer. I look forward to going back and not rushing.

Yelp
Such a cool, laid back microbrewery! It's kind of on the outskirts of Murphysboro, with one of the best tasting deals in So.IL. For $6 you sample the entire beer range - 9 when we went, with nice sized pours in your full-sized Big Muddy glass, that you get to take home! We also got a tour of the facility, which was short and sweet - but they definitely dove into specifics for some of the beer knurds.

Yelp
I'm always excited to experience a brewery I've never been to. I've tasted Big Muddy's beer before, but I can't just jump in my car and drive an hour and a half on a whim. Finally, I made a plan to venture down south to Murphysboro. The location wasn't quite as remote as Scratch Brewing, but it was a far cry from the urban setting of all the St. Louis breweries I've come to know and love. The building looks much like a warehouse and there isn't anything around it, but you're minutes away from town (in case you get hungry...they don't serve food here). This place was packed! Thankfully, we managed to find a few seats and found a menu. I'm a sucker for anything pumpkin, so my first order of business was tasting their Pumpkin Smasher straight from the tap to my glass. It was glorious. I could have sipped on that beer all night, but I wanted to experience a nice spread, so I tried their IPA and Winter Ale. Both were enjoyable, but nothing can top the Pumpkin Smasher. Aside from their lovely array of beer, their prices are the lowest I have ever seen. Three measly dollars for a pint? Yes, please! They also offer several t-shirts and growlers -- all nominally priced. This place was definitely worth the trip.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the entrance with a small sign. It truly is the way into the tasting room. Nick was a gracious host and server making us feel instantly at home. The number of styles of beer they had here was unexpected. Definitely a worthwhile stop.

Yelp
Pumpkin Smasher is back so I brought my growler for a refill. My wife likes the Blueberry Blonde so she has her own Growler. We love this place. The staff is super friendly and the prices are affordable for a micro-brewery. There are several types of beers for you to choose from. I don't like IPA's, but they have it too. Good stuff here.

Yelp
If I am going to knock them on anything it is their operating hours for the public. 12-6 only on Saturday and Sunday with no set tour times. Their prices and their people are phenomenal though. The beer marketing of the big muddy monster, pumpkin smasher and bigfoot on the label is what draws you in. The beer flavors are spot on and unique and Nick and Chuck are the reasons you stay and buy more. $8 flights for 13 beer samples, ok I am in! They don't have flight boards which I love they just give you a pint glass and fill each up a quarter full when you are ready. No beers sitting stagnent or getting too warm, everything is right off the tap. I felt like a couple lines were flat but they changed one after we told them. $10 growler fills, doesn't have to be there growler or $15 for their growler and a fill. $9 for 6 packs or canned 4 packs. Bombers were $5 plus? I wish they had a list of what was available and what wasn't. You just had to ask what they had. I would skip the tour as you stay in the tasting area and it is a short 10 minutes walk through. You can just talk to brewmaster Chuck and ask all the questions you want. He loves talking beer and knows his stuff. They even broke out a couple cans and bottles that they didn't have on tap for us to try. Awesome! Overall it is very laid back and a great brewery and experience. A must visit if you like beer and are in the area.

Yelp
Big Muddy was a microbrewery before it was cool to be a microbrewery. Their experience clearly shows in their product. Most local new microbreweries are barely above the level of home brewing, but Big Muddy is amazing. They have a wide variety of beer that is available on tap or for purchase in six packs. They also sometimes have a special where you can sample all 10 beers on draught for $10 and keep the glass.

Yelp
Decided to make the drive here on a Saturday afternoon. Even though the hours posted showed it closed at three we decided to try it anyway. They were open and made the stop at a very unassuming warehouse type brewery. We were greeted by a great lady who offered up a sampler with glass for $6. Typically we are offered around 5 samples but here, NINE! A tour was also offered but we declined. Great explanations of the types of brew and even told of another brewery close by to try. Great service, excellent beer, and a great way to spend the afternoon...we're already planning a trip back.

Yelp
Big muddy brewing brings good beer and music together. Drinking in the brew house is a fun experience especially with great live music and friends. Family friendly and great owner and staff. Thanks for always making us feel welcome.

Yelp
Nice place with great staff but they brew beers I find too fruity. In my opinion blueberries, vanilla, and pumpkin are fine foods. But they don't belong in beer. The IPA was merely OK. The Big Muddymonster was the best. I doubt I will return.

Yelp
If you're in the area, it's a must stop. Sadly they are only open on weekends. Great value for the tasting and the taps. Bottled 6-packs are a little pricey though. Bought a growler of Big Muddy Monster for home to use a week later and was just as fresh as coming out of the tap that day.
