Big Phil's Bar & Grill

My fiance and I stopped in on our way back from Conshohoken. He got the Big Phil's Burger, and I got the Chicken Pot Pie and a S'mores martini. Everything was hot and delicious, and the martini was excellent. I even got to see Phil in the dining area and chatted with him about the food. I remembered him from the Ice House Deli in Pottstown, and he said he was often at Coventry Mall around the time I worked there. We can't wait for our next visit.

We had a really nice dinner here. I will say though that this is more of a bar than a restaurant. I was kind of surprised on how small the menu they had. We both got the Chicken Pot Pie, it wasn't bad but not quite what we expected. One side of the pot pie was cool and the other hot. We both had the same experience with that. Maybe it wasn't in the oven far enough or long enough. Overall the Pot pie just left me wanting something more from it. Wasn't bad just very different and not what either of us expected at all. Drinks were good but a little pricey. Not a place you want to go to to have a few martinis cheaply.

Way overpriced and nothing to write home about. Garlic parm wings were good, but the burger and roast pork sandwich were both dry and chewy. I understand the overpriced menu since it’s the same owners as Ice House, but I was expecting a little more. Glass of beer was overflowing and spilled on my foot as it was served at the table. Pork didn’t seem fresh, and the “au jus” looked like beef bullion cubes with jarred thyme and chopped onion sprinkled on it. $17 for an 8 inch roll Amaroso roll from a pack from Aldi is ridiculous. $17 for a burger is also laughable. Just because it’s a trendy smash burger doesn’t mean it’s good. Pretty disappointing experience overall

Went here to listen to Lobster Tot Martini. The band is amazing and has so much energy. They play the best songs! As for the restaurant, I got boneless chicken wings with their sweet and hot sauce on them. For as saucy as the wings were, there was not much flavor. The sauce had a weird flavor that wasn’t good. The server was decently attentive but was not friendly and she had a frown on her face the whole time. She was not inviting

This was the best!!! We had a retirement party here on July 12th, and it could not have went better. We were set up in the bar area, with a 4 hour window, so people were coming and going. The outdoor area was perfect as well. Big Phil was extremely accommodating, and we were so grateful. Party ended at 3pm, but some stayed til 7!! Perfect venue, the atmosphere was great!!!

I got the Big Phil’s burger, and a side of fries. I liked the presentation of the food and it all looked yummy. I ordered my burger without the tomato and red onions, and happily they weren’t on there. I liked the pickles on the burger, the cheese, and even the fresh slice of lettuce. The patties were also good too, I could tell they were freshly made. I really liked the fries, they were nice and warm when they came out, and had the perfect mix of crunch and softness to them. Back to the burger, I really like their no pink cooking policy, I rarely eat burgers out anywhere because I get grossed out when I see pink, and I was glad to see that there indeed was no pink in my burger. I had lemonade to drink and it tasted refreshing too. The only bad thing was an itty bitty spider was over by my plate, so I don’t know if it went on my plate or was just crawling around on the table. Next time me and my family come shopping over by here, we’ll likely eat here again, I’ll probably order something different to mix it up and see what else is good here.

I drove about an hour and a half from New Jersey after a couple of friends recommended the place and what an awesome experience. Big Phil (the owner) was behind the bar and was extremely nice. He walked us to our seat and took care of all our needs! The food was great (highly recommend the patty melt), and the service was incredible. Definitely check this place out if you are ever in the area. Thanks Phil!

Wonderful first experience. Presentation was everything! Such beautiful displays and decor. Staff was attentive and friendly. The French onion dip was to die for but don't be confused with the title. I assumed it was literally chips and dip 😂 the hot and honey wings were a little too spicy and lacking crispiness but overall wonderful. Definitely recommended.

First time here and I admit I was skeptical but I had heard good things. And all the things I heard were correct. Our server was great. Attentive, friendly, and am so happy she recommended the roast pork sandwich with the long hots. Soooo good! Just as good as anything they sell in the city. Maybe better. My gf said her burger was good. And we had the boneless wings with garlic & parm. They were ok. The breading was good but wish we just woulda went normal Buffalo sauce. Woulda been better. The blue cheese dressing they served was really good so we will try them that way next time. We were there early on a Friday night and as we were leaving a band was setting up. Bet that was pretty cool. Next time we plan for live music and a later dinner. We will be back.

Converted TGI Friday's located in the former Coventry Mall. Restyling of interior- you quickly forget your dining in an abandoned chain restaurant inside an uninhabited mall. Upgraded color palette, marble countertops & bar, & spacious booths; some patio seating out front. Inviting. Elevated drink offerings & a bar staff that was friendly & attentive to our needs. Table visit from owner who shared history & vision of space & desire for us to see place as a comfortable spot for repeat business. Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp app- 'twas delicious! Firm, decent-sized, shrimp w/ crisp, salty, exterior of bacon served on smear of aioli. Patty Melt was a simple presentation; 2 thin smash patties, 3 buttery-grilled pieces Texas Toast, & patty sauce which appeared to be just a ketchup/mustard mix. I'm used to a little more going on w/ my patty melts- fried onions, Thousand Island, something- but I'd be a liar if I didn't say it was tasty & I would order it again! BP Cheesesteak, again, simple presentation, but well executed. Beer battered fries in place of chips for upcharge. Dishes priced a bit high for what's presented. I'd like to see a few more menu choices (if there are Specials they weren't mentioned during my visit) in order to make this a routine dinner spot vs. occasional bar lunch, but I look forward to a return visit!

Had a great time a Big Phil's! We started with cocktails, the purple rose and old fashions. Both were excellent . There was a good collection of beer and cocktails. The whiskey selection was top notch with Stagg Jr and little book to name two. The menu gave us trouble because it all looked good/intriguing. There was a soup flight! I got it and the French onion, mushroom and San Marzano tomato were all very good. We paired that with a bacon tomato fig jam grill cheese which was so delicious. On top of that we had onion rings and gnocchi with dipping sauces. Just plain tasty. All of the food was well seasoned and the onion rings really popped. Phil came out to check on things and talked whiskey and food with us. The service in general was very good. The place is pretty large, aka plenty of seating and there was a huge parking lot out front. We can't wait to go back and try more of the menu and more of the bourbon. Thanks Phil and see you soon. been there many times but not for several month. was surprised and disappointed to see their menu substantially smaller, way more drink options than menu option. seems to be more of a bar than restaurant these days. food we had was average

Great service and a good time. Love coming here for the food and cocktails! Big Phil is a great guy and enjoy this home style establishment. Recently I've been going for his delish grilled cheese and wings that's are quality. Everything is fresh homemade

While visiting Pottstown, we stopped to have lunch at Big Phil's. This was an excellent decision of ours for many reasons! The staff were attentive and friendly. In addition, the service was fast and the ambience was very inviting. Lots of available space and booth seating! We each loved our meals. Most of our party ordered sandwiches. The fries were crispy and golden. We were obsessed with the honey mustard. Excellent for dipping! My chicken sandwich was the perfect size. Our party shared the brisket nachos - excellent! Phil visited our table and gave us a warm welcome. I can see why so many people are complimentary of the restaurant! If I'm in the area again, I'll be back!

Hey ya'll, I visited Big Phils in Pottstown, PA for the first time, yesterday, October 1, 2025,, mid-day. My sister wanted buffalo chicken dip, but they discontinued it, so we got the fried pickle spears. #AWESOME. I got the chicken sandwich and homemade chips, my sister, cheesesteak and fries. All I need to say if you haven't been there, GET THERE. Our waitress was engaging, (sorry I don't remember her name), the food was ON POINT and the chips, WELL I'LL JUST SAY, OH MY MY MY, SO YUMMY. I told them they need to sell those. I can't wait to get back to Pottstown. I will definitely eat at Big Phils again, FOR SURE!!!

This restaurant is located in an old abandoned mall, but don't let that discourage you, they really make the place nice! I came here for a good entree and beer selection, but started with a BOGO appetizer and discounted IPA as it was happy hour. Buffalo chicken dip with pita chips was delicious and got a bowl of mushroom soup as my free appetizer, which was homemade and excellent! For my entree, which is what I came for, I got the salmon Oscar which hardly had any crab and sauce on it. Couldn't have been more than 1 oz. Flavor was excellent, but for the price of that dish, there should have been more toppings. Service was good, the young kid was very accommodating and on the ball!

The food, atmosphere, and service here was absolutely fantastic. The cocktails were delicious and you could tell it was created with the customer and their experience in mind. Big Phil talked with us and made us a lot of our drinks. He talked about how his mom makes the pot pie and desserts, how items were sourced, and discussed how the cocktails came to be. The food was absolutely delicious and everything was a decent price. We absolutely loved Big Phil's and plan on returning!

Our first trip to Phil's! Reviews looked good so I took a chance and took someone visiting from out of town when it was only our first time- something I never do! I was so happy with our experience. This visitor is from Brazil and I really wanted him to experience a good cheesesteak. The reviews for cheesesteak specifically weren't great but walking to our table I saw one and it looked pretty great. Then I read the menu and saw it was a conshy roll and cooler sharp! My friend from Brazil (who has never had one) loved it. And me- who could live on cheesesteaks also LOVED IT! I asked for sauce mixed in, they went a little light on the sauce but still delish!! My husband had the bacon wrapped shrimp which were fantastic. My friend and my husband also had oysters that were great. The only reason this review wasn't a 5 star was because they had live music which was REALLY GOOD! But then in the front part they had some sort of trivia on and they played loud music there. It was overbearing having competing blasting music. Also- the house made chips are incredible!

After driving by this restaurant several times, we decided to try it out because of the positive recommendations that we got. It was a nice day so we sat outside. While we waited we had a Long Island Iced Tea and Strawberry Margarita which were both refreshing drinks. Our meal consisted of the Chicken Alfredo Pasta and the Chicken Alf-Lloyd-o. Both of us liked our meals. Big Phil's Chocolate Cake finished off the meal. Definitely going back.

Great phood (ph for Phil's) and great atmosphere! Give it a try. Enjoyed everything we had.

BEST SPICY MARG OF MY LIFE!!! The food was mostly classic American pub food with an innovative upscale twist. Get things that include the homemade bacon jam!

Been here twice. Both times I was disappointed. I wanted it to be good but food is average and priced high. Second time, I got drink then bartender decided to take a break. Waited about 20 minutes with an empty drink even though she looked her over from her booth multiple times when taking a break from her phone. This left me stuck at the bar unable to pay and unable to order a second.

Went to Big Phil's last night, and really enjoyed our evening out. Their cocktails are uniquely crafted, fresh and delicious. The food was really good too - the brisket was tender and tasty. It was so nice to see and hear a live classic rock band too! Highly recommend Big Phil's!

Great all around from the staff to excellent food! It's a great atmosphere! Loved the catering as well. Ordered Brisket, ribs and homemade chips for a party and everyone loved the food!!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This is truly a hidden gem. Other area bars need to take note! First, the service is spot on Second, the bathrooms are clean, have deodorant, q-tips, lotion, and other self-care products! Lordy!!! The bartender, Ella, is the sweetest thing since pecan pie! And she can make a mean mixed drink too. I highly recommend stopping by when she is behind the bar. Lastly, someone's grandma is in that kitchen whipping up delicious burgers, sandwiches, and other bites. The roast pork sandwich is delicious, and the onion ring burger with the apple butter is heavenly. I would give this establishment 10 stars! Let's get on that Yelp!!!!

Food was good. Service was nice. Somewhat odd layout and poor location but it was good.

We dined at Big Phil's recently. Weird location, and diner vibe when you walk in. But the staff was extremely friendly so no complaints there. I even commend them on having spotless water glasses! I ordered the Butternut Squash Salad. It was good, though it said candied walnuts in the description and I received candied pecans. Might not seem like a big deal to most people, but I have some dietary restrictions, nuts being one of them. It can be challenging to eat out but I do my best. Constructive criticism: Fries were to greasy Salad was good but kale is hard to digest and could be chopped smaller (massaged kale is even better), and the nut mistake. Shrimp on salad could've been cooked more. I think this day and age restaurants should be up with the times and label the menu better- people have dietary restrictions (and it's only going g to get worse). Most times it's frustrating, even embarrassing to have to pick menu items apart and ask a ton of questions. It would be a more pleasurable experience if we could navigate the menu on our own with gluten friendly labels. You offer gluten free rolls, not all gluten free people eat meat or dairy... is the black bean burger gluten friendly?

This place is a good bar food place. I honestly did not think the food was that great. The staff was really nice and accommodating. This place is marked high end in Pottstown but in my opinion, that's not the case.

Have been wanting to try to this place since it came to town and since it has been getting good reviews. My friend and I decided to come here to meet up and have dinner. The space is nice and has outside seating is well. We got sat down immediately with not wait, this was around 5:30 on a Friday. Our waitress was very nice, bubbly and explained a lot of menu items/specials to us. We decided to go with lemonade and sweat tea for drinks and the mozzarella sticks as an app. We both ordered specials let me specify that detail. I ordered the brisket plate which came with two sides, Mac n cheese and I substituted the potato's for broccoli rabe. She ordered the brisket sandwich plate that came with fries. We also got the Oreo cheesecake to share. The drinks were great, some really good sweet tea and lemonade. The mozzarella with the marinara was delicious. I can't complain about those items. The brisket plate for me was just okay. The brisket was well seasoned and tender but I got more fat than meat. The Mac n cheese was not Mac n cheese, it was more like a bland cream sauce with a sprinkle of cheese. The broccoli rabe has no flavor but garlic. It was super garlicky and I love some garlic but it made it taste even more bitter. My friend enjoyed her sandwich and she for really good slices of brisket on hers, she said the fries were okay, just fries. We ordered the Oreo cheesecake and didn't read that it was all chocolate and not a regular cheesecake so that was our mistake. She enjoyed it but I could only eat a few bites and it didn't really taste like cheesecake to either of us. She said it tasted like a thick mousse. Wasn't my favorite. All in all I will say I would come back to try something else that's off of the main menu and it would probably be seafood since the waitress was raving about their seafood options. So I would give it one more try and order something that's not a special.

I am very glad I found this place, when spending the night in the area. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed. the food and drink. The Matcha Martini was strong, but was super yummy and light. To eat, I had the stuffed pork special. It was tender, but packed with flavor. I especially liked the crispy polenta that accompanied it!

Innovative food items. Unique flavors plus standard fare. All in a comfortable environment with friendly service. Give them a try !

If you haven't been to Big Phils, GO. NOW. We had a party of 13 and every single dish without fail was phenomenal. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was amazing, and the ambiance was perfect!

Excellent ladies lunch. Delicious food, friendly and very accommodating staff. French press coffee and a Pineapple Upside Down Cake cocktail at the bar. Big Phil is terrific! I'll be back with many friends, often. Beautifully renovated space too.

This is a favorite restaurant for us. We have always had a five star experience. I love the NY Dip (St. Peters Bakery rolls ftw!) and the Chicken AlfLloydo (glad for the garlic bread that comes with this dish, so I can sop up all the saucy perfection.) My husband usually gets seafood (scallops, fish tacos) and it is excellent. The drinks are works of art. The desserts are handmade. Even the ice cream is hand made. The service is great, and you can absolutely tell the employees are valued and respected by the owners. It's such a positive vibe.

Stopped here on a whim for lunch while out shopping and we were very pleasantly surprised. Food was great & the portion sizes were good. The standout items for us were the big honkin' pretzel, the spinach and artichoke dip, and the amaretto sour. The spinach and artichoke dip especially was incredible. The service was great, food came relatively fast (although we were basically the only ones in the place), and we had basically no complaints. The only real downside is the prices, however it's definitely worth it if you want some good food that's higher quality without being super fancy. All in all, while it is a bit pricey, this place is great and I definitely recommend going.

First time here and came on a Sat night. We had made reservations but it really wasn't needed. In addition to the indoor seating, they also have an outdoor patio area and we saw one family eating outside with their dog. It was just my son and I on this visit and we started with the mozzarella medallions, which were really good! As our entrees, we had the Big Phil burger and the chicken alflloydo. My son enjoyed his burger, but I wasn't overly fond of the brown sauce on my dish and was expecting more of a traditional alfredo sauce. Desserts are homemade here by Phil's Mom, so we ordered two cheesecakes, and both were delicious. Service started off OK but steadily declined throughout the meal and I often had to flag someone down to refill my drink. We also had to ask multiple times for a bottle of water and when it did finally come out, it wasn't even cold, so we had to ask for ice. Will likely try this place again and might even bring my dog and eat outside!

We have had lunch here twice before and enjoyed it! We tried brunch this weekend, their first time offering it I believe. There were plenty of things to try out and we enjoyed most of what we sampled. We felt the food could be warmer, the quiche was actually cold. I would have liked to have tried it hot like it should be. We thought bagels should have been offered, but then I guess you'd need a toaster too. I LOVED the french toast! So gooey and delicious! My husband really enjoyed the omelet station and he said the guy was very personable. I feel that juice should be included in the buffet. A glass of OJ was $5.50 and it wasn't fresh squeezed. Had my husband known that before, he would not have ordered it. I was really hoping to see more of "Phil's Mom's" desserts! Like cake, pie, all the yummy things I see on Facebook, but just sticky buns and fruit. The pudding parfait was yummy. Overall we had a good experience, with some things I hope will change if they decide to have more brunches. We would give it another try.

This is a go-to spot when I want something good to eat and a good drink. This time I had the Brisket Dinner with Mac and Cheese and a draft Long Island Ice Tea. The brisket was good but not as tender or flavorful as brisket I have had elsewhere. The drink was excellent.

Food is really good. Trivia was a lot of fun. Came there recently on a Friday night and dining room was getting ready to close. They said we could sit in bar and order food. Band was playing - heard them as soon as we walked in the building. Loud and not great sounding. Tried to sit on bar to eat but it was so ridiculously loud in there that there was no way we were going to be able to enjoy our meal. We left.

Decided to try here last night for the first time. Did take out. We both got salads which were good but for the price the portion was abysmal. Not worth the price for what you get. Wouldn't return

Person seating people was very rude and unprofessional, he got $.0 for a tip My waitress however was exceptional. They were out of a few things on the menu that I was interested in, had to opt for fettuccini Alfredo. I thought $18 for about 1/2 lb of pasta was steep the meal came with a side of garlic ciabatta that was small and overdone; that being said the chocolate cake I had was excellent won't be returning anytime soon

Hostess stand is in the middle of the restaurant, which was awkward to figure out. It took more than 15 minutes for a waitress to come to our table. She actually showed up just as my wife and I were getting up to leave. We asked to get salads before our meals, but they came out with the meals for some weird reason. I had the brisket, which was pretty good. However, the Mac and cheese was super bland and not worth the calories. The roasted potatoes left a puddle of oil, and while the seasoning on them was good, they were cut so big that flavor only lasted a brief amount of time and then I was just left with a mouthful of potato. We also had to ask twice to get the check, as the first time the waitress walked away without acknowledging us. I also had to move plates around to sign the bill because plates were never cleared. This might be an odd criticism, but the decor was non-existent. It was just gray walls with nothing on them. Did this restaurant just open up or something? All in all, it was a wasted night out and I was super bummed because I had heard great things.

Big Phil took over the TGIFridays at the Coventry mall. Did a really nice job on the renovation. Small menu and super sweet servers. They start you with a bottle of water which makes me so happy. Sandwiches come with fries or any of the other sides at no extra charge. Grilled cheese was on crisp and buttery sourdough. The thin smear of fig jam was a sweet accent. Not at all overpowering as my partner had feared. I opted for the sesame green beans cause I get my veggies when I can. Nicely done, a little char, tender with a light savory Asian glaze. Partner's pot pie was a creamy herb sauce with a punch of black pepper. Good amount of tender and tasty chicken, carrot coins, celery and onion. Phil had posted the recipe for the chocolate cake on Facebook. So I had to try it. They also had a variety of cheesecakes. It's as delicious as it looks. Not sure why they call it Phil's. Heard his mom was responsible for the cake and pot pie. Looking forward to our next visit.

My fiancé and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Despite being busy, we had excellent service and food. The atmosphere was great as well! Phil was extremely hospitable and we were checked on my several servers throughout to ensure everything was going well. Definitely try it out if you haven't been yet!!

We were a party of 5, the fish and chips were recommended, so 4 of us ordered that, I am a fan of fish and chips, but these were awful, heavily breaded and fish was slimy, almost seemed that it wasn't fully cooked, none of us liked it and we didn't finish it. The 5th person got a chicken sandwich that was too salty . Even the ketchup for the fries was nasty, as was the tartar sauce, we told the waitress and she came back and offered free dessert and left the plates of half eaten fish in front of us, until we asked for them to be removed, service was subpar, it was disappointing since we had people visiting.We will not be returning, what a waste of money. This is my first review ever, that's how upset I am.

Fist time in. We were looking forward to the opening as another area option Excellent experience and value. We experienced the house made onion rings, warm Brussel sprout salad for starters. I had the hand formed burger that was cooked perfectly and my bride had the turkey club sandwich the huge size of which shocked us both. Neat feature is that you can switch out any of their side dishes for the included French fries Our server Kemper could not have been more attentive, and we were appreciative of the visit by the owner We will be back

The food was delicious and the service was phenomenal. The food was hot, fresh and amazing. I met the owner Phil and he is the nicest guy you can meet. This is a must try and we will be returning.

Love Big Phil's. The food is fantastic. They have live music often which is great. And the staff is very helpful and friendly.

New bright star in the Pottstown suburbs. Food is simple but of excellent quality and the atmosphere is very upbeat and fun. Started with a couple of take out dinners to test the waters and then stopped in on an early Saturday evening. Live band, they were really good, service is excellent & friendly, and in spite of being a bit understaffed and running out of a couple key dishes, they made up for it with everything else they do. Originally considered 4-4.5, but in the end they earned the 5th.

Great new addition to the Pottstown area. It's always nice to get a non-chain restaurant in the area with decent food. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was good. 'Big Phil' even sat down at our table and sincerely wanted to understand our experience in order to continually improve his restaurant.

We were a party of 4 and we all thought our meals were outstanding. I really enjoyed that the pork tenderloin came with two vegetables, broccoli rabe and sautéed mushrooms, rather than the usual vegetable and starch. The pork was tender and flavorful with an amazing glaze/sauce drizzled over top. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The restaurant seems large but we were seated near the entrance so did not get to see a lot of it. We plan to return and recommend you give Big Phil's a try!

First visit and certainly not our last. Drinks were delicious. The Rueben was so good. Best fried pickles I ever had! I need them ASAP. Grouper bites were fresh and the perfect light breading. Raw oysters were a nice compliment. Phil was friendly and accommodating. Please support this local gem. Much needed in Pottstown.

After golf we popped in and sat at the bar. They actually have a decent by the glass wine list you don't find in Pottstown! Yay! Finally! I got the burger, yum! Mom got the chicken pot pie cooked by Phil's mom everyday! Super yum! Stop in and support Big Phil's. It's a great spot. I'll be back!
