We noticed Big Pillow brewing came to town after occupying the old post office in this AT crossroad town.
They had navigated every loophole and regulation to open a family friendly taco serving, badass beer brewing, live music pumpin' shin dig. It's got pretty much everything, outdoor seating for a small army, open air bar, dark hole in the wall vibes, and the taco stand and brewhouse are in adjacent buildings. The backdrop of the western Carolina mountains is the cherry on top.
I had met their unofficial mascot earlier. A cowgirl and her trusty horse Gringo. She needed carrots and cigarettes to get her through the night from the nearby market. She invited us down even though we had already planned on it. In just the short time we observed she took pictures with kids and boasted a beer holster on the saddle. She might've spilled more beer than she drank but she gave the place a western vibe.
The music was great and this was a rainy night, the have a main stage in the back that would've really been kicking on a sweet summer night. Check out their live music scene on Friday and Saturdays.
The service is pretty much order at the bar and friendly. The beer was great as this microbrewery had something for everyone. Campers, AT hikers and just locals in general all fused together with ease.
