Found this place super last minute as in on our way driving to Lake Tahoe. We had a choice between this place or the swanky hotel down the road with restaurants & casinos for a tad bit more. Ultimately, we chose this place for the value!
We were having trouble booking the room online so we called the front desk and they were able to match the rate we were seeing online. Win #1. We got there and it looked like the place definitely could use a new coat of paint and some handywork, but heck that was to be expected. We knew what we were getting into! They gave us a corner room upstairs. Our room was rather spacious with 2 queen beds, an electric fireplace, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, flat screen TV, plus free wi-fi. Win #2. My son was really amused by the fireplace, especially since it displayed a fake fire, and it kept the room nice and toasty after an unexpected snow storm.
Sure the furniture was dated, carpet wasn't the best, & the walls were kinda thin, but it was honestly nicer than we expected and we got more than we expected. It wasn't that bad at all, I've stayed in worse, and having a corner room made it even better! We just needed a place to rest our heads really. I also really liked the location of the room and having parking along the street made it so convenient to get in and out.
During the early mornings we took advantage of their "free breakfast." Quotation marks because it's pretty basic: cereal, milk, coffee, tea, cocoa, english muffins, jam, & jelly. Considering how cheap our room already was, it was pretty impressive (to me) that they even offered this. Win #3!
They also have a pretty prime location so we were able to walk to the basecamp shops, restaurants, grocery store, etc rather easily. Checking in & out was a breeze too and we had no issues at all with our stay.
2 nights for less than $100 on a last minute booking plus everything else? Mmm, yep, can't complain. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for lodging on a budget.
