The food is amazing, Texas style BBQ. You have to try the brisket. Although I have no idea why they make you go up and pick it up yourself like a proletariat. They have three bartenders standing around who could be delivering your food.

Forget the rest, discover the best. Head east to discover the beasts - awesome smoked brisket, chicken pork BBQ. An awsome local brewery combined with Big Sky BBQ in Calgary. Fast service, friendly staff, fantastic pub atmosphere with many video screens. Order by the platter and share the mixed feast of beasts. Also take home quality product from the refrigerator. High seats, low seats and padded chairs an be found for all social comfort needs.

Pulled pork was dry, mac and cheese as well. Sausage was okay, brisket was good but my husband prefers it fattier. Chicken was also super dry but had somewhat good flavour. Our waitress was terrible, our drinks were gone before she came to take our food order and had to ask for our new drinks three more times before getting them. It wasn’t even busy when we went. Caesar was ok.

I want to start this off with I REALLY enjoyed the Barn Burner event. Such a great choice of entertainment. Sound wasn’t obnoxiously loud. Despite the power going out during the headliner, it was a very fun time. What could be improved for next year, I’m sorry to say that your restaurant portion was severely understaffed. For only taking orders and serving drinks these poor girls were rocked off their socks, but were still in good spirits and friendly. I understand events like this that have thousands in attendance are not the normal here so I will indeed return and this hasn’t soured my experience at all. This is just an observation and some constructive feedback to make your next years event even more enjoyable than it already was.

First time here and it was great! Food was SO GOOD and the prices were reasonable...especially these days. The beer & cider were very, very good. We're big brewery fans and this place did not disappoint. We also had brisket, ribs and sausage and loved them all. We will definitely be back! Thanks for the great food and friendly service!

Not a bad beer, but if you look around, you can definitely find better ones. It all comes down to personal taste. I’ve tried all their types and varieties, but nothing really hooked me. Maybe some people are fans, but I’d give it a solid four out of five—no more.

Beers were fine - nothing amazing but nothing terrible. You can find most of their core offerings across the province no problem in liquor stores. The addition of Big Sky BBQ was great - the bbq was fantastic. Picture attached is their Hungry man's platter for $25.99. Good portion size and was mighty delicious. 3 meats and 1 side - had the brisket, sausage, pulled pork, and coleslaw. They also have 4 different kinds of sauces available as well. Plenty of parking in the parking lot and surrounding area.

Ceasars mid at best. Food was dry and randomly sweet beans. And the Mac cheese was dryer than popcorn. Waitresses were pleasant except when one of them made me feel like my carrot allergy was odd. Safe to say we won’t be back.

truly different! Food is 'pickit up yourself' at the kitchen window. Served on trays, no plates! Left overs can be wrapped in brown paper, provided, and do it yourself. Huge portions. Noisey place with lots of TVs. Good fun of a group.

Beer right from the tap. They serve food here/appetizers at their restaurant which is connected to to the brewery. Great hang out place with friends. Plenty of parking outside. I am not a beer person. If you like you can get take home beer from here cheap. I can't comment much on the beer since I don't know what is a good beer. If you want to try limit quantities or new Big Rock beer than this is the place to go.

Came here right when they were closing and the staff were nice enough to let us in and accommodate a group of 11 people. They serve bar food ranging from burgers, pasta, to steak. One popular order amongst the group was the bison burger with fries. For some, because it was the end of the day, they ran out of fries and were nice enough to substitute it sweet potato fries, no extra charge. The patty and bun were a little on the drier side, but the fries were amazing. Crispy and fried, very good. The pasta was a bit too heavy and too greasy, but still had taste to it. Since this is a brewery, they served a lot of drinks as well, with daily specials too. There are washrooms in the facility, both upstairs and downstairs. There is also a lounging area upstairs with a pool table for your amusement.

Once a month, Big Rock hosts a Brewga night. Yes, you read that right, beer + yoga = eternal happiness! A girlfriend and I weren't sure what to expect, do we get to drink before? Maybe during? Sadly no lol But you do get beer afterwards, so it's a reward for your fitness efforts! We each got to choose 5 draughts for our sampling beer flight, and they were generous sized for sure! I'm gonna be honest, I didn't know Big Rock had other beer besides Grasshopper (Which I don't care for eeeeep!) but luckily with this event, I got to try a bunch of their summer seasonal brews. The Cherazz (cherry belgian), Belly Flop (apricot grisette), Peach Pilsner, Rock Creek Peach Cider and Rock Creek Strawberry and Rhubarb Cider were my choices and I loved them all! I really enjoyed this event and we're already planning a Brewga girls night! Yayyyy!

Big Rock always feels nostalgic to me, it's the beer my dad drank growing up so I was always really familiar with the labels and brand. Now that I live in Calgary I have the pleasure of being able to visit the brewery in person. What first enticed me to visit was the brewga nights with yoga and beer tastings. The yoga in the back warehouse was really cool and the pairings were tasty, you got to pick which ones you wanted ahead of time then when you came back from yoga they were ready for you. I selected a few of the ciders as well which were tasty. They also put together a great variety pack for Canada Day last year for the 150th that I really enjoyed.

We found out the hard way Big Rock doesn't have a tap room yet. Although they do have a restaurant, it has very limited hours. 11am-2.30pm Monday-Friday. So keep that in mind if you're headed there. Wish we had known that. BUT... we were able to sample beers in the store and Adam and the other guys were absolutely amazing!!! The beer was amazing, the staff was awesome!!! We really regret not having more time to be able to do the tour, but if we ever make it back to town it will be at the top of the list! #SooooooGood!

Went for beer and yoga, had a blast! Think I have a new favourite beer as well! I'm going to have to plan to come back and maybe do lunch didn't get a chance to really look in at the restaurant.

Had an amazing time here, really loved the brewery tour and what an exceptional regional craft beer does to stand out. There's a tasting session at the end of the tour (free glass included plus several small pours). Learned a lot and had a ton of fun.

Long has Big Rock been the leader of Calgary craft beer in terms of availability and number of beers. They were the pioneers of craft brewing in this province. Strange that in my rampant alcoholism that I had never done a tour. If there was a good distillery in Calgary, there would be a plaque made and posted on their front door honouring me by now. I screwed myself the moment I left to meet the rest of my group: I drove. They arrived by cab a few minutes later. Those sneaky bastards. That automatically made me the designated driver. Our host was terrific. A few samples downstairs before taking us up the steps to the 'More beer' section. A full beer bar. Damn. Must pace myself and be responsible. To the tour we went. Hairnets, protective glasses, and no beers allowed in to drink during the tour. Now we're talking. Suffer with me, people! How did people ever come up with beer? There's quite a bit that goes into it, even in the most simple forms. I've been on tours before, but never figured out how they came up with it. Must have been alcohol that contributed to making such a discovery. Rum, most likely, as all good discoveries are a result of it. Either way, after seeing the process of making beer, I am still too lazy to make my own and will stick with letting other people do it for me.

Did you know that it's the 30th anniversary year of Big Rock Brewery this year? Big Rock was definitely the pioneer of craft beers around here! The first time I visited Big Rock was for a friend's b-day party. As I walked up to the restaurant I was thinking, "This is so cool!" - and it was! I mean, who doesn't want to have a celebration at a craft brewery?! It's located on a big area just off 52 Street S.E. We were served appetizers and craft beer on tap. It was a casual, yet unique space to gather friends and family together. I liked that it was perfectly okay to sample the beers until you found that one you really liked. There is and indoor and an outdoor space. The next time I visited I went on a brewery tour with a small group. It's always a good time for a brewery tour! You wouldn't believe the big vats the beer is made in...seeing beer in the process of getting made on such a large scale kinda makes you feel giddy! Then after the tour you get to sit down and enjoy a glass of the cold stuff...sort of a dream situation One other point, there is a retail store onsite where you can buy beer and unique beer related gifts. Me and the others on my tour thought the leather six-pack holder that can be attached to a bicycle was the perfect bike accessory! ...Now I can drive hands free ;)

I took some clients here for lunch a few weeks ago. Other than a slight hiccup to get service when we first arrived, everything went well after that. Apparently our group was so large and they had to push some tables together and because of that two different sections were split between us so the staff had to figure out who was going to cover our table. The food was fantastic. I went with a recommendation of the BBQ chicken melt and it was heavenly. It had just the right amount of sauce and the quantity of cheese melted on top didn't leave you feeling like you were over indulging. The restaurant itself is a cool place. Kind of rustic looking but at the same time fresh and modern. Obviously there is a large bar at one end where they will be happy to pour you your favorite Big Rock brew. I would imagine that this would be an excellent venue to hold a company Christmas party or other large event. Check this place out. It's always #BigRockOclock here!

Big Rock Brewery is the big bad of Calgary's microbreweries, and let's be honest: It has retained its market share for a reason. In addition to crafting some house brews for a variety of other businesses, Big Rock makes solid, well crafted and well known beers. I had the pleasure of getting a tour of the premises fairly recently, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. Although they have a ton of machinery to help with their craft, so much of it is still managed by real people. The 'compound' that the brewery occupies is pretty huge, but utterly awesome, and it was so cool to see the process of making some of my favourite brews step by step, but I was most impressed by their store house, which was like the cave of secrets, except instead of being full of gold and treasure it was full of cans and mini kegs, floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Big Rock also sponsors the Eddies, a video competition that is pretty important to Calgary culture. I have good feelings about more than just beer everytime I order a pint of Grasshopper.

Great beer, try the Honey Brown Lager and their Dunkelweizen. Good stuff! The food was good, enjoyed the pretzel and the schnitzel as pretty good. I thought the beer was the best part though and that is what I would go back for. Bit of a drive if you are in downtown Calgary so plan this out for a nice lunch spot.

Great beer. The usual suspects. Menu looked great! It was busy and the waitress didn't inform us of the menu changes that we ordered. so we were surprised when we didn't really get what we wanted. She then said "oh, that's hasn't been on the menu for ages". Maybe inform us next time. Burgers were decent. Had 3 different ones between 3 of us. Took 50 minutes but again it was busy. All and all not t bad. Beer was cold and amazing as usual.

Brewga is a fantastic, good value event. I would recommend to anyone interested in seeing the brewery and/or enjoying a night out with friends. Will return.

We had an amazing evening at Big Rock Brewery. We had a group of about 20, and they we toured through the facilities in two groups. So interesting and entertaining, great tidbits of info all the way through. Did some shopping in the gift store after. Some wonderful gift ideas and did a bit of Christmas shopping! The cost of the tour includes a Big Rock beer glass too! Great idea for groups of any size. They are very accommodating.

I went for a brewery toured by Garett who was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and thorough with explanations. He also gave plenty of samples and some freebies at the end and the beginning of the tour. He was very friendly and the place and the procedures were very clean and natural. After going on the tour I will be buying their beer more often! They don't add preservatives or skimp on local ingredients where possible. They are leading edge in procedures also. Go give a tour a shot!
