"Of the four big golf options in town, what makes Robert Cupp’s Big Sky Golf Club design more appealing than thoseof the three other designers (whose names happen to be Jones, Palmer, and Nicklaus)? Landscape and layout. The 18 holes lie below a broad granite rock face and under the shadow of Mount Currie. The course wends its way around six lakes, anda stream shows up several times throughout the round. (The stream crisscrosses the fairway of the troublesomefourth hole, aptly named Purgatory, four times.) It’s hard to stop staring at the hanging glaciers on the rock face or the frequent gliders that soar overhead, but the finishing five demand five excellent approaches. You’ll have plenty of time to gaze skyward when sitting on the patio, decompressing after your round."

The views and course layout are terrific. We played all the courses in the area and the views here were maybe the best. The condition of the course (greens) and leaving grass trimmings on the fairways was disappointing but everything else was great

Often come here for lunch/dinner if riding through Pemberton. Would be 5 star except they removed the motorcycle parking near the entrance.

Ate lunch and played a round of golf afterwards. The restaurant was really quite good and the service was very friendly. I had a chicken, apple, Brie sandwich with fries. $18. Course is absolutely gorgeous and in really good shape- especially considering it was underwater three months ago. Fairways were very well groomed, greens were firm but a little slow, but they were consistent. I paid $135 for the round and also rented clubs that came with two sleeves of balls and access to the range. The clubs were brand new Callaway Mavericks. Putter was an Odyssey. The courses in Whistler are fantastic, but the views here can’t be beat. I highly recommend playing if you’re in the area.

Was looking forward to playing Big Sky, unfortunately the course was in very poor shape, not sure if this is the norm (June 2025). Water out at multiple stations, Friday afternoon round, cart girl we saw on the third hole and then not until 17. Views are great, but pretty disappointing course conditions and facility (one of the worst ranges I’ve ever seen). When the highlight of the facility is the steak naanwich that’s tough.

We had our wedding here this past August and there is not enough we can say about Big Sky! The view certainly speaks for itself, even in the midst of a particularly large forest fire season! But without the folks at Big Sky our wedding would not have been as successful and enjoyable as it was. Sandi had great communication and patience from the day we met her for a site visit to the day we said "I do." We could always rely on her to be prompt and give us the information we needed to prepare for our day, and was always so incredibly friendly and caring. The head chef, bar manager, and staff were so hard working, friendly, and equally supportive of us. If our guests weren't raving about the delicious food or spectacular view, it was the wonderful nature of Big Sky's people. 10/10 recommend that you consider Big Sky for your event!!

We having a wonderful experience and unforgettable memories on this amazing scenery. They provide a super service, staff are friendly, they greet us courtesy while we drop our golf bag especially the staff name Shawn. Even they provide after service for wiping golf club. The setting , maintenance and design of the golf course is wonderful. You feel totally relax and peaceful in the mind. Especially when you see golfer walk with the dog. Our family members really thanks for the founder to have such a wonderful golf course for families to enjoyed and get together. As well this is wonderful place for wedding . We will be back soon. Additional, the metal sculptures is artistic and priceless collection.

Was trying to finish the 17th hole and asked this individual to stop for a moment while we finished the hole and his response was “no”. Other than that, beautiful views and nice course.

If you are looking for a well maintained, welcome, professional staff do not golf at BIG SKY GC! If you are seeking a well maintained course, with clean, up to date golf carts, hospitable and professional personnel - do not golf at BIG SKY GC. We should have twigged when we drove up and the bag person was sitting on the wall, ignored us, and was picking his nails. Into the Pro Shop and was served by a somewhat “terse” staff member, and was told that they charged full price ($25) for a non golfer in the cart. It got worse….the cart paths were in a horrible state, potholes, uneven gravel filled holes, and the areas where they probably had had flowers and vegetation were a scruffy mess. Last, server in the bar was surly and not at all welcoming. Generally the clubhouse was in need of “refreshing”. We have golfed all over BC and especially Vancouver Island. When we are charged $222 our expectations are for a course that is well maintained and staff that is trained in hospitality. These pics are just from the front 9 and there are many more!

Yelp
Big Sky is among the top rated best golf courses in North America and does not disappoint. Sweeping mountain views surround the course nestled in the Pemberton valley just north of Whistler. September is a great month to golf here. Cooler temperatures make for an enjoyable game and prices are reasonable for such a highly rated course. Big Sky is a course for more experienced golfers. The course has a 454, 14th hole named "Hang Time", if you enjoy driving. The greens are lush, firm and fast. Great amenities on site including a driving range, practise bunker and putting greens. The beautiful restaurant has a patio with stunning views. I really enjoyed playing here this fall.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery and the best gnocchi ever, a wonderful tuna poke, great wine and savoured with a friend I would highly recommend this stop to anyone in the Pemberton Valley

Yelp
Very nice course. Good drainage since we played during some heavy rain. Course was surprisingly dry. Course easily comparable to Whistler Golf Course. Staff very friendly. Excellent deal for the price.

Yelp
Two words: Manicured greens. This course is amazing and known for their manicured greens. Most resort type courses, and courses overall, have what's called a first cut and/or a second cut of rough around the green. Big Sky manicures it so that the rough is so nice that you can putt from the rough onto the greens!!! The course overall is laid out nicely along the valley floor. There are views of Mt Currie on most of the holes.

Yelp
In the Whistler area there are a handful of must play golf courses. Big Sky is one of them! Located in Pemberton (a 30 to 45 min drive away from Whistler) this resort golf course offers the avid golfer easy holes and challenges that are sure to get golfers screaming curses and pulling out their hair! I've played Big Sky many times over the year. I would say over the last 8 or 9 years I've made at least 1 or 2 pilgrims to Whistler and I would always play Big Sky. I played this course and I always remember it being pretty reasonable, but this year it was playing tough. My drive was pretty off. I somehow developed this ugly fade and most of the time my golf ball has been flying off the fairway. I was talking to an attendant at the golf course and he asked me how my day was going. I told him I was playing terrible and that I've played this course previously and I don't recall the course being this tough. He said yeah it's playing really tough this year. The rough has been purposely left long so that way ward shots off the fairway are really punished. I guess I felt a bit better after hearing that. It's not me! It's the golf course! Haha! Well my motto is it's a poor workman who blames his tools! On that vein I can't blame the golf course for my poor play. This is a pretty fair golf course. There are some tough narrow holes, but it also has it's share of "getable" holes! The conditions were outstanding! The fairways were pristinely manicured, and when walking on them there was a spring in one's step. Other golf course have rock hard fairways but Big Sky's fairways were soft and well watered. The putting greens were excellent. I would say if a golfer reads his putt right and executed his shot well no grainy obstacles are going to get in the way of an excellent putt! Despite my bitching Big Sky is an excellent golf course. I'll just have to come back and get this course on a good day next time!

Yelp
Very poor pacing. Shabby practice facility with tattered mats. No exception for personal emergency mid play (on the second hole I had to stop playing due to colitis attack but they refused a refund). Greedy and rude. You pay for a mountain view which you can have anywhere in the area and even better in Whistler. They also do not enforce any kind of time limit on looking for lost balls while others are waiting. My playing partners also refuse to play here again

Yelp
Very nice golf course set among the foot hills. The course is in very good condition and the greens true . Fairways are nice and lush. Some of the holes are tricky with water hazards. There are good deals that include meals and a game. This is the second time I have played here in the last 5 years and the condition and challenge is just as good. Carts are available, but it is a course that you can easily walk.

Yelp
Don't go just for the driving range. They charge you $10 to borrow a club. The course looks nice, but we didn't have clubs, we're just driving by while staying in Pemberton and doing other things. 1 star for value

Yelp
What a gorgeous location! The golf was great, the staff was amazing and the restaurant was very good as well. Thanks to Holly for working so hard to try to schedule our wellness package.

Yelp
Beautiful! Little too warm to golf today, but great place for beer and wings. Our waitress, Sueme, was so friendly and helpful. We plan on getting back someday and golf on the most gorgeous course at the foot of the mountains. The greens and fairways are very well kept.

Yelp
This is a nice course only 40 minutes north of Whistler. Greens were good and fairways were well manicured. Staff was very nice. If you have 4 rounds scheduled on your golf trip this would be #4.

Yelp
I first went to Big Sky 3 years ago and checked out their driving range. I didn't have time to play but when I saw the first tee against the backdrop of Mount Currie...I knew I wanted to play this course when I came back. I'm glad I stuck to my word. This is a very forgiving course, the fairways are wide and dry and the greens were immaculate and forgiving as well with no undulations or tricky breaks. What you see is what you get. Me and my girlfriend had a blast. Despite being next to the mountains, the course plays very flat and is a very walkable course. It was a little on the expensive side for me, but being voted the best public golf course in BC and rated in the top 50 in Canada, it's well worth it. There's some fine courses around the Whistler area but I think its worth the extra 30 minute drive further north to Pemberton to play this course. Big Sky, you've got a fan for life...

Yelp
I was lucky enough to get up to Big Sky on July 1st this summer. I had not played the course in about 5-6 years, but the second I stepped on the first tee I remembered exactly why this is one of my favorite courses. The outside staff welcomed my group as we pulled up and helped unload our clubs and load them up on our carts. The golf shop staff welcomed us with smiles and you could get the feeling of how proud they are to work at Big Sky. Once on course the condition was absolutely perfect. It was hard and fast without being brown from getting baked. There was a marshal that came around the course a few times. Each time he was keeping us posted on pace of play in front and behind us. As well as throwing in a tip or two for the holes that were to follow. My favorite part of the course is the fact that it is true golf. With most courses in Whistler you get a gimmicky feeling, not here, just pure golf. Absolutely an incredible way to spend a day!
